Ann A. Sundstrom
FELCH - Ann A. Sundstrom, 94, of Felch, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Ann was born in Felch, the daughter of the late John V. and Anna (Ovist) Sundstrom. She graduated from Felch High School in 1930 and later earned a bachelor's degree, graduating cum laude from Northern Michigan University, and a master's degree from the University of Iowa.
She taught at Menominee High School and Sturgis High School in Michigan and at Leyden Community High School and the Thornton Township High Schools in Illinois. She retired in 1973 and returned to Felch where she lived until her death.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Metropolitan serving as treasurer for several years. She was also a member of WELCA.
She is survived by one sister, Judith Zink of Santa Anna, Calif. and one brother, Raul (Delores) Sundstrom of Sault Ste. Marie; a very special friend, Mary Coffland of Felch and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Anna (infant), Alice Sundstrom, Sigrid Jones, Ruth Hornshuh, Margaret Kurck, and Grace (Dr. Conrad) Fischer and four brothers, Arnold, John, Rudolph, and James (Margaret) Sundstrom.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan.
Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Bill Jacobson will officiate.
Burial will be in Felch cemetery.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Donna M. Badini
KINGSFORD - Donna M. Badini, 76, of 1705 Long Ave. in Kingsford, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1930, in Twin Falls, the daughter of the late Edward and Valeria (Weiser) Tousignant.
Donna graduated in 1948 from Kingsford High School.
She owned Etc. Bridal Shop in Kingsford, making bridal bouquets, renting tuxedos, and selling dresses. She enjoyed flower gardening, making silk flower arrangements, jigsaw puzzles, and going to the casino.
She married Victor Badini on Nov. 24, 1972 in Deerfield, Ill.
Donna is survived by her husband Victor; a stepson Daniel (Merrill) Badini of Gurnee, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Helen (Raymond) Taraszka and Barbara Carroll, both of Elmwood Park, Ill., and Victoria Besenhofer of Hanover Park, Ill.; a sister, Joyce Manko of Iron Mountain; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Bernard, and Edward Tousignant and a sister, Kathleen Magray.
At Donna's request, private family services will be held. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be at cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy J. Oliva
IRON MOUNTAIN - Dorothy J. Oliva, 94, of Rochester, Minn., formerly of Iron Mountain, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at her daughter's home in Rochester.
She was born on June 15, 1912, in Minneapolis, daughter of the late Harry and Melvina (St. Louis) Johnson.
Dorothy married Henry Oliva on June 15, 1940, in Minneapolis, and he preceded her in death in 1979.
She was member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church and worked with its Maranatha Messengers. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sharon (Rev. Daniel) Aronson of Rochester, Rosemary (Robert) Schultz of Iron Mountain and Harry (Kathe) Oliva of Iron Mountain;13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caren Schultz and a sister, Louise DeCrescenzo.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Daniel Aronson will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Steve Aronson, Rick Peet, Troy Robertson, David McCash, and Pete Barby.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Edward "Pete" Champeau
IRON MOUNTAIN - Edward "Pete" Champeau, 70, of 223 West D St., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Jan. 24, 1936, in Escanaba and was the son of the late Francis and Lorraine (Shedore) Champeau. Pete was born and raised in Escanaba.
He married the former Janice Cretens on April 6, 1963, in Escanaba. They resided in Milwaukee from 1965-2001 and have been residents of this area since then. Pete worked for Nitrogen in Milwaukee for 36 years.
He was a very active man who couldn't sit still for very long. He loved food and cooking. He also loved gardening, going for walks, going to the casino and collecting Pepsi memorabilia.
Pete is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Edmund (Heidi) Champeau Cretens of Marinette, Wis. and Danny (Erin) Champeau of Menominee; daughter, Tammy (William) Morris of Quinnesec; grandchildren, Michelle and Tracy Champeau, Edmund, Andrew, William, Tyrus and Edward Cretens; Samantha, Thomas, Matthew Champeau and Nicole Morris; brothers, Jim Champeau of California, David (Darlene) Champeau of California, Steve (MaryLou) Champeau of Escanaba and Kenneth Champeau of Escanaba; a sister, Bonnie Champeau of Escanaba; an aunt, Millie Shedore of Escanaba and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will take place from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. Thursday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Julia Grace Cook
MILWAUKEE - Julia Grace Cook, infant daughter of Jack and Nicole (Nash) Cook, was born on Dec 18, 2006, and was called home to her Lord and Savior on Jan 13, 2007.
Julia is further survived by her paternal grandparents, John (Marty) Cook; maternal grandparents, Tom (Kathy) Nash; paternal great-grandmother, Irene Cook; maternal great-grandparents, Pat (Elaine) Nash and Marge Hamm; aunts and uncles, Mike Cook, Katie Cook, Matt (Tamara) Nash, and Natalie (Justin) Oberdorfer; cousins, Isaac and Ellery Nash; Julia is further survived by many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home in Mequon. Fr. Thomas DeVries will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Julia's name.
The family would like to thank the staff at Columbia St. Mary's and St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee for the loving care they provided for Julia and her family.

John S. DeGrave
Iron Mountain - John S. DeGrave, 91, of Iron Mountain, died on Wednesday January 10, 2007 at Manorcare Health Care Systems in Kingsford. He was born on March 21, 1915 in Gladstone, Michigan, son of the late Henry and Margaret (Jacques) DeGrave. He served in the United States Army during WWII with the 10th Mountain Division. He married Mary Giannunzio on February 4, 1941 at the St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 15 years, and then as a carpenter for Joiner Construction Company for another 15 years.
John was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a life member of both the V.F.W., and the American Legion Post #50, and also a life member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He built houses on the side for many years. He built bird houses and enjoyed woodworking. He also loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by brothers Jule, Hubert, Lawrence, Harold, and Clifford DeGrave.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Mary
2 daughters, Kathryn (James E.) Anderson of Niagara, and Nancy M. Reimer of Sterling Heights, MI
Grandchildren Jamie M. Anderson, John (Becky) Emery and Robert Emery, and Michelle (Tyson) Chamberlain
Great grandchildren, Tyler and Cheyenne
Brothers and sisters Rose Verley of Arkansas, Agnes Pirlot of Georgia, Dorothy (William) Burkart of Iron Mountain, Brother Harold Elmer DeGrave OFM of Brazil, Robert (Josie) DeGrave of Norway, and Marie Collins of Kingsford And a large extended family
Visitation will be from 10:30am-12:30 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral Mass will be at 1:00pm at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Members of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers. The Knights of Columbus will say a rosary at 12:15pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in John-'s memory.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangement.

Roger B. Mielke
RON MOUNTAIN - Roger B. Mielke, 61, of Iron Mountain, died, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on June 12, 1945, in New London, Wis., son of the late Marvin and Gladys (Spaulding) Mielke.
He served in the United States Air Force, where he was trained as an exterminator. After being discharged from the military, Roger worked as an exterminator for Orkin for 20 years. From there he was employed as a computer controller for Curwood Plastics for 10 years.
He met and married Arlene Giannunzio on Sept. 23, 1989, at the First United Methodist Church on the Northside. He was most currently employed at the United States Post Office in maintenance.
Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed helping people out, whether it was cutting lawns or snow removal. He was a jack of all trades, and could pretty much make just about anything out of nothing, he was quite the inventor. He also served as a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America for 5 years.
Roger is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Randy (Michelle) Mielke of Freedom, Wis., Renee (Paul) Senso, also of Freedom and Roy (Beth) Mielke of Combined Locks, Wis.; stepdaughters, Linda Gerulli of Rochester, lower Michigan and Susan (Mandy) Singh of Fishers, Ind; sister, Shirley (Duane) Tietz of Nichols, Wis. and grandchildren, Makayla, Hannah, Allison, Madison and Mason.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Russell.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will be on Saturday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Rev. David Wilton will officiate.
Burial will be in cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial will be established in his memory.

Helen R. Kassin
IRON MOUNTAIN - Helen Ruth Kassin, 87, of 616 Vulcan St., Iron Mountain, died peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1919, in Iron Mountain the daughter of the late Blasius and Mary (Warmuth) Mortl.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and crocheting. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who fondly called her "Tata."
She married Anton Kassin on Aug. 2, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1993.
Helen is survived by a son, Anthony Kassin of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Kathleen Lantagne of Niagara, Wis.; three brothers, John Mortl of California and Joe (Shirley) Mortl and Robert (Phyllis) Mortl, both of Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Lisa (Jay Galeazzi) Mendina of Norway, Cindy (Lon) Miller of Norway, Julie (Mike) Phillips of Iron Mountain, and Brad (Ellery) Kassin of Iron Mountain; seven great-grandchildren, Tony and Andy Mendina, Riley and Madyson Miller, Sara and Ashley Phillips, and Nolen Kassin; a special friend and caregiver, Tori Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Mortl, Hannah Mariucci, Mary Palluconi, and Alice Roland; and two brothers Fred and Frank Mortl.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be at cemetery Park.
Pallbearers will be Carl Kassin, Brad Kassin, Tony Mendina, Andy Mendina, Mike Phillips, and Lon Miller.
The Tondin-Ross and Freeman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
