Florence Demko
FENCE, Wis. - Florence Demko, 86, of Fence, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born June 20, 1920, in Armstrong Creek, Wis., daughter of the late Stanley and Lottie (Kempa) Sadowski.
She married Frank Demko in Chicago in 1939 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2006.
Florence was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband.
Florence is survived by a son, Robert (Lauren) Demko of Aurora; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and two sisters, Joyce Gallardo and Stella Swift.
Florence was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Nelson in 2005; four brothers, Charlie, John, Joe, and Raymond Sadowski; and three sisters, Helen Sadowski, Mary Renkas and Lillian Millan.
Private family services will be held.
Burial will be in the Glennwood cemetery in Goodman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Ties Adult Day Care Center, 800 Crystal Lake Blvd., Iron Mountain, Michigan, 49801
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

Janet Fraser Olsen
NORWAY - Janet Fraser Olsen, 95, of Norwood Apartments in Norway, died on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006.
Mrs. Olsen was born on Oct. 1, 1911, in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Wilhelmina Murgatroyd and was educated at Edinburgh Ladies College.
The former Janet Fraser Murgatroyd married Martin L. Olsen in Blackpool, England during World War II and was one of three war brides to come to the Norway area to make her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Hannah (Roger) Treves of Norway; her son, Robert M. Olsen of Sturgis, lower Michigan; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Olsen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Olsen will be missed by her family and her many friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway.
A service of remembrance will follow at 6 p.m. at the church. Rev. John Voelker will officiate. A luncheon will take place following the memorial service in the Bethany Lutheran Church Hall.
Burial will be in the Norway cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of the following organizations in her memory: the Norway-Vulcan Women's Club Scholarship Fund, Office of the Superintendent, Norway-Vulcan Schools, 300 Section St. Norway, MI 49870 or the Disabled American Veterans Women's Auxiliary, VA Medical Center, H Street, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.

James E. Draze
IRON MOUNTAIN - James Edward Draze, 85, of 1509 West D St., Iron Mountain, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Manorcare Health Services in Kingsford.
He was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Ontonagon, son of the late Julian and Louise (LaCase) Draze. Jim graduated from Munising High School in 1939. After graduating he attended Ford Trade School in Detroit. He was a U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Jim married Martha M. Roberts on Aug. 17, 1946, in Negaunee. She preceded him in death after 58 years of marriage on Sept.18, 2004. Jim worked for the Marquette Mining Journal as a managing branch editor for 25 years. He then worked as a custodian at the Michigan State Police Post in Munising for 15 years. Jim also owned and operated the Bel-Vue Hotel and Coffee Shop in Munising, with his wife, Martha, for many years. After selling the Bel-Vue, they moved their home west of AuTrain on the shores of Lake Superior.
Shortly after Jim and Martha retired, they moved to Iron Mountain where they have resided ever since. Jim was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He enjoyed reading, cutting wood, taking tour buses to the casino, snowshoeing and furniture refinishing with Martha. He loved spending time with his family at their lake home.
Jim is survived by two sons, James R. (Deanna) Draze of Kalamazoo, lower Michigan and Michael J. (Linda) Draze of Minneapolis; a daughter, Kathy (George) Pond of Iron Mountain; a brother, David (Angie) Draze of Richland, Wash.; three sisters, Alice (Jack) Martin of Greenland, Frances (Walter) Gray of Bessemer and Muriel (Tom) Pawielski of Munising; a brother-in-law, Joseph Roberts and his son, David (Pat) Roberts, all of Negaunee; a sister-in-law, Mrs. William Roberts of Marquette; three grandchildren, Tony Draze of Mountain Iron, Minn., George (Breanna) Pond Jr. and their daughter, Ella Marie, of Marquette and Steven (Clara) Pond and their daughter, Madison Kathleen, of Goodyear, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cecilia and a brother, Bill.
Visitation will b held on Friday, Dec. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain.
A Memorial Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Munising.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel.

Bruno E. Maule
KINGSFORD - Bruno E. Maule, 85, of 205 Birch St. Kingsford, died Saturday, Dec. 09, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
Bruno was born April 25, 1921, in Hermansville, son of the late Angelo and Placida (Sartori) Maule. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II. Bruno served in the Marines for a total of three and one half years which included 20 months on Midway Island with the 12th Marine Division and 8 months in Guam with the 3rd Marine Division. He graduated from Hermansville High School in 1939.
Bruno obtained his bachelor of science degree in education from Ferris State University. He furthered his education over the years eventually gaining his master's degree in education from the University of Tennessee.
Bruno was married to the former Dorothy Anderson. He was a teacher at Norway High School for 30 years retiring in 1986. Bruno was always very proud of his former students' accomplishments.
He was a member of the Kingsford City Council for 36 years, serving 14 of those years as mayor. Bruno was also a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 363 in Kingsford. He was an avid Kingsford Flivver fan and always had a special place in his heart for the city of Kingsford.
Bruno is survived by four sons, Richard (Linda) Maule of Kingsford, Donald (Monica) Maule of Iron Mountain, Douglas (Pamela) Maule of Iron Mountain, and David Maule of Kingsford; two sisters, Naomi Hayes of Houston and Hilda (Louis) Menard of Hermansville; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Remo and Norman Maule and one sister, Perina Maule Bell.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
Parish prayers will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 363.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in Hermansville cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rod and Bryan Mongrain, Mike Maule, Pat and Sean Mohundro and Nels Maule.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.

George G. Weber
AURORA, Wis. - George G. Weber, 82, of Aurora passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
He was born on June 10, 1924, in Aurora. He was the first born of six children to parents John and Gerta (Roos) Weber.
George attended grade school at the Golden Rule School in Aurora and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1942.
By trade, he was a carpenter starting his career in 1948 at the V.A. Medical Center with Proksch Construction. At the end of that project, he joined Nat Bolognesi House Builders. From there he transferred to Marinette to work with Noah Poquette building schools and the jail. When K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base was first conceived, the prospects of employment looked reassuring, and he renewed a position with Proksch Construction as a foreman and later as a project superintendent. In all, about seven years was spent at Sawyer, then 30 years throughout the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin. He retired on July 1, 1988.
Among other endeavors George was so proud of, was being the Aurora town supervisor from 1977-1980 and Aurora town board chairman from 1981-2004. He also served on the Wisconsin Towns Association for 24 years and the Florence Economic Development. George worked very hard to make Aurora a good place to live. His family could not have been more proud of him and his accomplishments.
George was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Florence County Lions Club. He had the friendship and respect of many people. Of his hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking the most. George got great joy in making special gifts from wood for his children and grandchildren.
George leaves his wife of 63 years Deloris 'Dee'; his children, Kay (Jack) Wedin, Mary (Larry Hoya) Raketich, and Rose (Gary Vandeville) Schneider; grandchildren, Kevin (Dawn) Wedin, Kirt (Jennifer) Wedin, Bobbie (Steve) Povolo, Toni (Joe) Scarp, Kevin (Karen) Raketich, Michael (Amy) Raketich, Eric (Michelle) Schneider, and Amanda Holzbauer; a brother, Edward (Betty) Weber; sisters, Margaret (Ron) Olson, Janet (Harry) Lucas, and Doris Brown; a sister-in-law, Gerri Weber; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Weber.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Kingsford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Michael Betley will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin and Kirt Wedin, Eric Schneider, Michael Raketich, Steve Povolo, and Jon Olson.
A very special thank you to George's nephew, 'Little Jon' for all the time he spent with Uncle George. We know how much he appreciated the rides out to the plains and to the hunting camp. You had a very special place in his heart that will never be forgotten.

LeRoy J. Barribeau
GOODMAN, Wis. - LeRoy J. Barribeau, 88, of Goodman, died, Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Pinecrest Medical Facility in Powers.
LeRoy was born in Goodman on Aug. 15, 1918, son of the late Daniel and Ella (Smith) Barribeau. After his high school graduation, LeRoy attended one year of aeronautic mechanics school. He served four years during World War II in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and the military police.
LeRoy owned and operated a residential and commercial janitorial service. During his younger years, he had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Dunbar. LeRoy was an accomplished singer and played the drums. He was an avid reader, and he was a member of the Goodman American Legion Post.
He is survived by his sons, James Barribeau of Iron Mountain, LeRoy "Paco" (Donna) Barribeau of Quinnesec, Arthur Barribeau of Niagara, Wis., and Glenn Barribeau of Waukesha, Wis.; daughters, Diane (Gregg) Carlson of Kingsford and Denise (Timothy) Welker of Mississippi; a brother, Daniel (Virginia) Barribeau Sr. of Cedarburg, Wis. and a sister, Annette (Robert) Becker of Brookfield, Wis.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. and many nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Barribeau; two brothers, Alfred and Clyde Barribeau and two sisters, Lucille May Barribeau and Geraldine Hendricks.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Kingsford Funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Glenwood cemetery in Goodman.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Kingsford Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Mark Scott
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Mark Scott, 64, of Roseville, Minn., passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2006, after a long battle with kidney cancer and Myasthenia Gravis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Peggy; daughter, Julie of Milwaukee; son, David (Reyell) of Kansas City; grandchildren, Sydney and Preston; brother, Roger (Nancy) Scott of Kingsford and nieces and nephew.
Mark was an electronic components salesman for 35 years, selling for Ragon/Kent Electronics and most recently for Electromatic. Mark loved skiing, his Harleys, the Indy 500 and the Packers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edna, and brother, Kenny.
Visitation was held on Friday at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 Hamline Ave. North Roseville.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Mark Scott online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
