Mary Esther Poynter, 70, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Tendercare Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Mary will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Behenna officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Thursday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church-Special Needs Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Mary was born on August 29, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Burkhardt) Scott. She attended Purdue University and Central Michigan University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Child Development. Mary was a member of the Golden Key Honors Society. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school at Burton United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed writing, reading, sewing, crocheting and taking care of her cats.

Mary is survived by her children, Donald Eugene Poynter of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Marie (Allen) Shock of Mt. Pleasant and William Stanley Poynter of Waterford Twp. and sisters, Colleen Leming of Texas and Carol Kinamon of Idaho.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Weller, Jean Louise
October 31, 1932 - April 20, 2006

Jean Louise Weller, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.

Per Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 110. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Jean was born on October 31, 1932 in Hornel, New York. She married Fred Weller on August 19, 1960 in Bay City. Jean was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary of Mt. Pleasant Post 3033 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 110. She enjoyed cooking and knitting.

Jean is survived by her husband, Fred; aunt, Eleanor Shaut and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Louis Seyler and uncle, James Shaut.

Cascarelli, Andrew Ray
September 5, 1950 - April 18, 2006

Andrew Ray Cascarelli, 55, of Midland passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Saginaw VA Hospital.

Funeral services for Andrew will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Roger Friend and Duane Dishong officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The Forgotten Eagles or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Andrew was born on September 5, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Joseph and Georgia (Lewis) Cascarelli. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Andrew was a truck driver for Old Castle Architectural in Phoenix, AZ. He was a member of The Forgotten Eagles, VFW, American Legion, Rolling Thunder, ABATE and Harley Owners Group. Andrew enjoyed riding his Harley.

Andrew is survived by his parents, Joseph (Jane) Cascarelli of Mt. Pleasant and Georgia Hunter of Indianapolis; brother, Dan (Jennie) Willey of Midland; sisters, Julie (Keith) Netzley of Midland, Lisa (Allen) Casteran of Fishers, Indiana and Cheryl (Rob) Williamson of Shepherd; step-sister, Ricky (Larry) Gregerson of Kirkland, WA and all of his special friends in “The Forgotten Eagles.”

Andrew was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Willey; step-father, Richard Hunter and grandparents, Sam and Rose Cascarelli and George and Julie Lewis.

Morford, Helen
June 30, 1917 - April 15, 2006

Helen Morford, 88, of Lake Isabella passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Tendercare Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Helen will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Dr. Stephen Shugert officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery in Weidman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 20, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Helen was born on June 30, 1917 in Lansing, the daughter of Allen and Pearl (DeWitt) Howard. She graduated in 1935 from Lansing Central High School and attended Michigan State University for 2 years. Helen married Robert Morford on June 23, 1939 in Lansing. She was the President of St. Lawrence Hospital Guild, the President of Brook Hollow Country Club Woman’s Golf Association in Williamston, MI, she was on the Presbyterian Church Woman’s Board in Mt. Pleasant and a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Helen is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Terry William (Mardine Davis) Morford of North Hollywood, CA and James David (Kimberly Suzette) Morford of Okemos, MI; grandchildren, Tim Mackie of Seattle, Brandon Morford of Walnut Creek, Ca, Alison Beausoleil-Rosenberg of San Francisco, CA, Robert Holloway of Okemos, Ryan Morford of Haslett, Ashley Morford of Marshall and Matthew Morford of Okemos and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Howard Mackie, Ian and Skyler Morford and Lauson Beausoleil-Rosenberg.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Olson and Donna Taylor and brother, Robert Howard.

Compeau, Norman Joseph
April 8, 1918 - April 13, 2006

Norman Joseph Compeau, 88, of Lachine, MI passed away at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday, April 13, 2006.

Funeral services for Norman were held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with The Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Norman was born on April 8, 1918 in Herron, MI the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Bracken) Compeau. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Norman married Marion Mudge. He worked for the Department of Defense. Norman was a member of the Elks Lodge 505, Moose Lodge 571, Fraternal Order of Eagles # 1241 and Alpena VFW Post # 2496. He enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing.

Norman is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Neal Compeau and Bonnie Pandori both of Weidman and sister, Evaline Wallace of Alpena.

(Kennedy) Knollenberg, Lois Evelyn
October 6, 1931 - April 12, 2006

Lois Evelyn Knollenberg, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Lois will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gene Haymaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Chippewa Twp. cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 16, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, April 17, 2006 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Lois was born on October 6, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of James and Phyllis (Servoss) Kennedy. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1951. Lois worked as a Para Professional for Gratiot RESD for 15 years before retiring in 1995. She attended Maranatha Baptist Church. Lois enjoyed gardening and loved doing laundry.

Lois is survived by her children, Greg (Terri) Kennedy, Sue (Kim) Kennedy, Dan (Lori) Knollenberg and Russ Knollenberg; grandchildren, Matt (Tammy) Fournier, Rheanna Kennedy-Bielicki, Chris (Sara) Fournier, Ryan Knollenberg, Jimmy Kennedy, Meghan and Courtney Kennedy, Joey Kennedy and Cody Knollenberg; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan and Morgan Bielicki, Katie Lynn, Cal and Caden Fournier and Cason Fournier; brother, Bill (Betty) Kennedy, sisters, Lorraine Pierre, Fran Chapman and Carol (Mike) Abbott; many nieces and nephews; close friends Joyce Richardson and Janet Kennedy and sister-in-law, Mary Kennedy.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Knollenberg; sister, Muriel Kennedy-Leiter-Miller; brother, Tom Kennedy and nephews, Rob Abbott and Dan and Mike Leiter.

Crandall, Warren Linneer
January 23, 1926 - April 10, 2006

In loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Warren Linneer Crandall, 80, of Mt. Pleasant who passed away peacefully at Gratiot Community Hospital on April 10, 2006 with his family by his side.

Memorial services for Warren will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. from St. Johns Episcopal Church with The Rev. Mary T. Delaney officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Monday, April 17th from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Goodrow Fund or a charity of your choice in his name. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel and the church.

Warren was born on January 23, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas the son of Warren Fout and Ann Beatrice (Linneer) Crandall. He graduated from the University of Minnesota’s V-12 program as a Lieutenant. Warren served aboard the U.S.S. Appalachia in the South Pacific after WWII. On November 4, 1966 he married Yvette Birs in Madison Wisconsin. Warren worked as a Certified Investment Specialist in Commercial Real Estate for Century 21 Bowerman/Peake Realtors for 25 years before retiring in December 2005. Warren was a life time member of the Central Michigan Association of Realtors. He has been in the Real Estate business for more than forty-four years. He served as president of the Board of Realtors. Was a recipient of the Realtor of the Year and received the George Noch Award. He was a member of the Elf Kahurafeh Shrine temple in Madison, Wisconsin and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. In addition he was a member of the Zor Shrine Chanters. Warren’s avocation was vocal music. He shared his singing talents with others through opera, oratorio, as a church soloist and principal roles in Musical Theatre. He volunteered his theatrical talents as a stage manager, technical director and musical advisor for CMU’s Orchesis Dance Theatre. Among his favorite past times was being a personal cheering section and avid supporter for his wife, children and grandchildren in any endeavor they undertook.

Warren is survived by his wife, Yvette; children, Deborah A. Andres of Walled Lake, MI, Rebecca L. (Joe Foltz) Crandall of Mt. Pleasant, Warren (Karen) Crandall of Mt. Pleasant, Julia Elizabeth Crandall of Traverse City, Andrea Jean (Mark) Daisy of Mt. Pleasant and Lucas Crandall of Chicago, IL.; grandchildren, Nicholas Andres, Laura Andres, Amie (Craig) Onstott, Paul Cranda

VanOrden, Shirley Jean
June 3, 1935 - April 8, 2006

Shirley Jean VanOrden, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at 1 p.m., at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ray Abbey of Prospect Park Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 10, from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 11, from 5-9 p.m., and Wednesday, April 12, from noon until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Park Church of God (Cushion Fund). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Shirley was born June 3, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Clinton and Mildred (Howard) VanOrden. Shirley was employed for 24 years as a housekeeper for Central Michigan Community Hospital, retiring in 2000. She volunteered as a foster grandparent for Brite Start. Shirley was a member of the Women of the Church of God. She was a former member of several bowling leagues. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and needlepoint.

Shirley is survived by her companion of many years, Jim DeLong of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Patty Jo Woodward (Norman); Step-children Jean DeLong and Louann Ramer (Steve), both of Saginaw; 3 grandchildren David Lee Bachelder, Jr. (Mattie), Tamica Chantelle Work (Jeremy), and Nathan Ryan Bachelder (fiancee’ Ashley Allen); 2 step-grandchildren Rachel Lee Woodward and Raquel Ann Woodward; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers Clinton VanOrden (Cathy) and Bill VanOrden (Lois), both of Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Judy Ann VanOrden.

Jackson, Jr., Clayton
September 4, 1939 - April 7, 2006

Clayton “Gene” E. Jackson, Jr., 66, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services for Gene will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Pego and Milton Pelcher co-officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 10, from 3-9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 11, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Gene was born September 4, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Clayton and Minnie (Crampton) Jackson, Sr. Gene was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He was a watercolor artist. Gene was a car collector, and especially loved his Corvette. He enjoyed working with electronics and watching birds.

Gene is survived by his stepchildren Ernie Moss and Timmy Moss, both of Lansing; his mother Minnie Jackson and his sister Ruby Wetherell, both of Mt. Pleasant.

Gene was preceded in death by his step-son Ritchie Moss; father Clayton Jackson, Sr. and Eliza "Bonnie" jackson on March 16, 2006.

Curtis, Irvin
May 10, 1930 - April 5, 2006

Irvin Curtis, 75, of Rosebush went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Irvin will be held on Monday, April 10, 2006 at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gordon Rydman officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 9, 2006 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Foundation. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Irvin was born on May 10, 1930 in Crystal, MI the son of Elmer and Sylvia (St. Peter) Curtis. He married Joann E. Smith on September 24, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2003. Irvin worked as an operator and plant mechanic for Dow Chemical for 45 years before retiring. He was member of Central Baptist Church. Irvin lived to go fishing.

Irvin is survived by his children, Jean (Robert) Tober of Bay City, Jeffrey Dell and Michelle Nyhus of Mt. Pleasant, Rita (Daniel) Rydman of Rosebush, Gail Nethers and Fiance’ Dave Whitman of St. Helen, Becky (Michael) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Vicki Love of Los Angeles, CA, Robert (Theresa) Dell of Shepherd, Gary (Annette) Dell of Weidman, Veronica “Susie” (Roger) Mitchell of TN; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Eva (Karl) Anderson of Midland and Agnes Mills of Iowa.

Irvin was preceded in death by his wife; parents; 3 brothers and one sister.

The family would like to thank Isabella N.E. Fire First Responders, MMR, the staff at CMCH and a special thanks to those that called 911.

Cable, Gregory Glenn
September 21, 1970 - April 3, 2006

Gregory Glenn Cable, Jr., 35, of Mt. Pleasant, MI passed away on Monday, April 3, 2006 at his home.

Funeral services for Greg will be held on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, MI. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 6, 2006 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Greg was born on September 21, 1970 in Pontiac, the son of Gregory Glenn Cable Sr. and Barbara (Theobald) Cable. He was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Operating Engineer Local 324 in Detroit for 17 years. Greg was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising chickens and ducks and riding his Harley.

Greg is survived by his “Partner”, Kristy Cable; daughters, Felisha and Olivia Cable of Oil City, MI; mother, Barbara Miller of Leonard, MI; grandmother, Marie Cable of Butler, TN; brothers, Robert (Barb) Parker of Murphysboro, TN, Dale (Lisa) Parker of Leonard, MI and Patrick Garrett of Cummings, GA; sisters, Donna (David) Butler of CA and Tammy Bross of Mt. Pleasant, MI and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Cable, Sr. in 1986 and his step-father, Pat Miller in 1993.

Lovett, Mary P
November 8, 1951 - April 1, 2006

Mary P. Lovett, 75, of 9138 Elmwood Ct., Canadian Lakes, died on April 1, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Margaret’s Meadow of Isabella County.

Mrs. Lovett was born February 16, 1931, in Wood County, Ohio, to the late Walter and Martha (Welling) Langell. She married Richard E. Lovett on November 8, 1951, in Angola, Indiana.

Mrs. Lovett was a resident of Canadian Lakes, Michigan. She is survived by her spouse of 54 years; three daughters, Susan Schwaderer-Haslett, MI, Stephanie Walling-Ponce Inlet, FL, Sarah Kendall-Midland, MI, their families and a brother in Toledo, OH. Mrs. Lovett was a member of First United Methodist Church of Big Rapids, MI, where she volunteered for many church activities and Ferris Tennis Center. Mrs. Lovett was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Midland and the Midland Community Tennis Center.

Mrs. Lovett, besides being a homemaker, taught school and was a substitute teacher for several years. She was a 1951 graduate of Defiance College. Services are not complete at this time. Arrangements are being handled through Clark Funeral Chapel, Mt. Pleasant.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan, Inc., 401 Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 or your favorite charity.
