Jack LeRoy Cronenwett, 85 of 215 S. Lakeshore Dr. passed away Monday January 8 in New Hampshire following a brief illness.
Jack LeRoy Cronenwett was born December 29, 1915 in Mansfield, OH, the son of H. LeRoy & S. Alwilda Cronenwett. He moved to Ludington in 1916 where he lived for the rest of his life. He graduated fro Ludington High School in 1933 and married K. Marie Grundmark in 1940. During WWII he served in the 499th armored field artillary in Europe for 4 years. He was employed by the Star Watch Case Co. as a model maker until his retirement in 1978.
Jack was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion and served on the Mason County Council on Aging. In his free time, Jack enjoyed local sporting events. He spent many hours at Oriole Field and Hawley Gym watching his grandchildren's games. He also loved the out-of-doors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard. One of his greatest loves was attending the University of Michigan football games, hitch hiking to Ann Arbor for his first game in 1932. He attended his last game in October, 2000 and always said that he was very grateful to his parents for moving out of Ohio. Jack also had a wonderful artistic talent that he used in his many remodeling projects. During his later years he spent much of his time building HO guage railroad models with incredible accuracy and detail. But his family will remember him most for his wonderful sense of humor. He always made a family gathering enjoyable with his quick wit and good natured teasing.
In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his son, Dr. Jack (& Debra) Cronenwett of Hanover, NH, his daughter Susan (& Daryl) Peterson of Ludington, grandchildren Sara Cronenwett of Cambridge, MA, Molly Cronenwett (& Robert Mills) of Hillsborough, NC, Jodi (& Michael) Nichols of Ludington, Jess (& Sharon) Peterson of Bellevue, WA, & Jaye Peterson of Ann Arbor. His sister in law Helen Cronenwett of Ludington, and his niece Sandra (& Dr. Richard) Wisely of Toledo, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother LeMoyne Cronenwett.
Memorial services for Jack Cronenwett was held Saturday January 13 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Buskirk officiating. Visitation was Friday January 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Memorials may be directed to the Ludington Area Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.

John J. Enhorning, 79 of 3956 N. Stiles Rd. passed away Sunday January 7 at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. John Enhorning was born December 21, 1921 in Chicago where he graduated from High School and the University of Illinois. He was a retired draftsman for a manufactoring company in Chicago. He came to Ludington from Chicago. Surviving Mr. Enhorning are cousins Phyllis Lyewski of Ludington, and Randall Petersen of Ludington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Pearl Enhorning.
A memorial service was held Wednesday January 10 at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Christensen officiating.Burial will be in South Victory cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Heart Association, or the Michigan Lung Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Frances M. Rasmussen, 87 of Baywood Nursing Home passed away Friday January 5 after a lengthy illness. Frances Ordway was born May 17, 1913 in Mason County, and married January 1, 1953 to Lawrence Rasmussen and he preceded her in death in 1985. She grew up in Eden Township and lived in Scottville and Ludington for many years. She graduated from Scottville High School in 1933. Frances was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ludington. She had been employed by the Carrom Industries for many years as a secretery.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, & cousins, including Billy Dwyer of FL. She was known by all that knew as a very loving & friendly person.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by a sister. and 2 brothers.
Funeral Services for Frances Rasmussen were held at 11:00 AM Monday January 8 at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. B. Douglas Neimi officiating. Visitation was held Sunday January 7 from 2-5 PM. Burial will follow in Lakeside cemetery in Eden Township.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church, or Baywood Nursing Home.

Yonne Mae Hansen, 87 of 400 Sherman Oaks Dr. passed away at 1:00 AM Sunday Dec. 31, at Baywood Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Yonne Mae Mathewson was born August 28, 1913 in Big Rapids and married Feb. 22, 1936 to Fred Hansen and he preceded her in death in 1985. The couple came to Ludington in 1972 from Detroit.
Yonne graduated from Big Rapids High School and Ferris Institute with a music degree. She taught music in Big Rapids and in many country schools, and also taught privately in Big Rapids & Detroit.
She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church, Court 745 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Emblem Club where se was also the organist for many years.
surviving Yonne Mae Hansen are 1 daughter Barbara Franquist of Ludington, 1 son Richard (& Carol) Hansen of Farmington Hills, 7 grandchildren Wendy & Rob Walker of Harbor Springs, Kirk Hansen of New York, Paul Franquist of Tempe, AZ, Donald & Vicki Franquist of Ludington, Jon & Linda Franquist of Ludington, Edward & Victoria Berko of Chicago, & Laurie Franquist of Chicago, 9 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norm & Charlotte Mathewson, her brother Norman Mathewson and her son in law Donald Franquist in 1980.
Funeral services were held Wednesday January 3 at 10:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday January 2 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, a rosary was recited, an Emblem Club memorial service and a Catholic Daughters memorial service were held.
Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the charity of the donor's choice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
There will be no local visitation, and memorial services will be held at Arlington National cemetery in Washington, D.C. Memorials may be directed to the National World War II Memorial Fund, The Navy Relief Society, or the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Charles A. Bader, ACSW, age 77 of 814 N. Rath Ave died at home Monday March 12 following an extended illness. Chuck bader was born Feb 10, 1924 in Saginaw. He grew up in Carrollton Twp. where he attended St. Josephat Grade School but graduated from St. Andrew High School in Saginaw where he was awarded membership in the National Honor Society.
Drafted during WWII, he served in the United States Naval Reserve as a corpsman at the US Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, IL, the US Naval Hospital at Long beach, CA, and later at the Anacostia Naval Barracks in Washington, D.C. He was detached to the second Marine Division 155mm Howitzer Bn., which participated in the battles of Saipan, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He was decorated with the Silver Star for action on Iwo Jima and became a life member of VFW Post 4499, Manistee.
He attended the University of Michigan and Central Michigan University, where he learned liberal arts and bachelor of Science degrees. He married Geraldine D. Lugiewicz, RN on Nov. 26 at St. Matthews Church in Zilwaukee. He did post graduate work at the University of Utah in 1957 and Michigan State University in 1965, where he was awarded a Master's Degree in social work.
Bader retired in 1982 from West Shore Mental Health Clinic of Muskegon where he was employed as a social psychiatric social caseworker specializing in teen group therapy. During his 40 years as a career social worker, Bader worked at the Salt Lake County General Hospital, in Utah, then for the Washington State Department of Public Assistance in Wenatchee and Yakima, then Catholic Family and Child services for the Diocese of Yakima, and for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Catholic Charities moved Bader and his family to Ludington from Traverse City in 1968.
Formerly a field work instructor for the Graduate School of Social Work, The University of Michigan and WEstern Michigan University, Bader was an active member in the National Association of Social Workers and a member of its Academy. In 1972 he was presented with the Socail Worker of the year Award by the Western Michigan Chapter NASW in Muskegon. During retirement he had been a volunteer Right to be Born counselor and bereavement caseworker for Hospice of Mason County which obtained its licensure. He became a charter member of the Michigan Hospice Social Workers Association. In 1990 Hospice of Mason County presented him with the exceptional Contributions Award. He was also a charter member of the board of directors for Staircase, Runaway and Youth Services, Inc.
Bader had been a member of the Neumann Club, the Knoghts of Columbus, the audubon Society, the Association for Research and Enlightenment and St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as lector and in the music ministry.
His wife Geri preceded him in death in 1996, nd his brother Richard in 1997.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Christine Marie (& James) Zerbi of Paw Paw, and Terese Ann (& William) Anderson of Key Largo, FL, 5 sons David (& Pamela) Bader of Ludington, Michael (& Marie) Bader of Marne, C. John Bader of Miller AFC of Hart, Paul Bader of Ludington and Mark Bader of Grand Rapids, 2 sisters Rosemarie Wallace of Casper, Wyo, and Janet (& William) Hardigan of Plantation, FL, 1 brother, Allan (& Patricia) Bader, 1 sister in law Grace Bader of Saginaw, 8 grandchildren, Many nieces & nephews.
The family received friends at the Alexander-Rye Funaerl Home from 7-9 PM Wednesday March 14. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel at St. Simon Catholic Church at 2:30 PM Thursday March 15.
The family will also receive relatives and friends immediately after the service in the family center. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Anthony Cemtery in Auburn, MI.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Michigan Hospice Social Work Association (MHSWA) for the scholarship fund or to Hospice of Michigan in Mason County with envelopes available at the funeral home and the family center at St. Simon Church.

Beatrice E. Peterson, 86, went to be with the Lord on Sunday March 11, surrounded by her loving Children. Beatrice died from valve heart disease at the University of Michigan Hospital.
Beatrice Ellen Anderson was born on Sept. 25, 1914. She married Everett Adrian Peterson on March 21, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1966.
Everett and Beatrice farmed fruit on the Peterson Centennial Farm in Pere Marguette Township which was founded in 1876 by Everett's grandfather Charles Peterson from Sweden. For over 20 years, Beatrice enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers that she sold at the Dowland Street Farmer's Market. Her favorite flowers were gladiolas and zinnias.
Beatrice is survived by five children: Carol Peterson of Ludington, Otto (Merrilee) Peterson, of Ludington, Barbara Behan of Ludington, Stan (Barbara) Peterson of Ludington, and Nancy (Jim) Grasman of Fairfax, VA. Beatrice is also survived by 2 sisters, Elaine LaBerteaux of Oshkosh, WI and Lois Zubrod of Milwaukee, WI.
Beatrice was a longtime member of the Pere Marquette Ladies Aid and the Emanuel Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 14 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with REv. Wayne Buskirk officiating. Visitation was Tuesday March 13 from 7-9 PM, and burial followed in Lakeview cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the Michigan Heart Association, with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Willard A. Case, 74, loving husband and father, passed away in his home on Saturday March 3. He was born June 5, 1926 in Hamlin Twp. He served in the US Navy during WWII. After returning from the service, het met and later married Mary L. Mortensen on Dec. 3, 1949 and she survives.The couple spent 51 happy years together.
He was a master electrician and owned and operated Willie's Electric for many many years. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by 1 son Cory (& Cheryl) Case, 3 daughters, Billie (& Tim) Anderson, Dawn (& Richard) Coleman, and Sheree (& Vernon) Nicholson, grandchildren, Craig (& Michelle) Coleman, Todd Coleman, Jill (& David) Skridulis, Kathy Anderson, Michael (& Brooke) Anderson, Lance Case, Haley Case, & Jamie Nicholson, 4 great grandchildren Ben & Emily Anderson, Francesca Skridulis, & Madison Coleman, also surviving is someone who is like a daughter to Willie, Annette Schmuhl of Ludington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Ida Case, 1 brother Leslie and his wife Marion, 1 nephew Roy Case, and 1 grandson, Andrew Coleman.
At Willie's request, there will be no formal services. There will be an informal gathering to celebrate Willie's life at the American Legion Hall on Tuesday March 6 at 2:00 PM.

Marietta McDonald, 91 of Baywood Nursing home and Village Haus & formerly of West Branch, & Durand passed away Thursday March 1 at Baywood. Marietta Finch Cook was born July 14, 1909 in Ovid to George & Lilah Finch. She was raised by Otto & Laura Cook. Marietta was married on August 8, 1931 in Ovid to Howard McDonald and he passed away in 1993. She lived in Ludington for the past 10 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ludington.She was a graduate of Ovid High School & Central Michigan University.
She had been a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Stars in West Branch. Was a Girl Scouts Leader in West Branch & Durand for many years. She was an elementary teacher in West Branch and Durand for a total of 19 years.
Survivors include, 1 daughter Ellen (& Tom) Westcott of Ludington, 1 son Robert (& Carolyn) McDonald of East Tawas, MI, 8 grandchildren including Patti Stubbs, Linn Urka & Darcy Westcott all of Ludington, & Greg Westcott of Grandville, 20 great grandchildren, and her loving and caring family at Baywood.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Howard "Mac" McDonald in Sept. of 1993.
Visitation for Marietta McDonald was Friday March 2 from 7-9 PM and Saturday from 2-3 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday March 3 at 4:00 PM at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Joseph Elenbass officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to Baywood Nursing with envelopes available at the funeral home.
