Dominick J. "Sonny" Salerno, 76 of Sarasota, FL and frequent visitor to Ludington died unexpectedly Friday Night upon arrival to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born August 5, 1928. For years he was the owner of a wholesale meat distributorship and more recently Sonny enjoyed his part time employment as a Siesta Key Property Manager for his longtime friend Bob Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter Lisa Salerno of Naperville, IL, Sons Gary of Pentwater, Mark (& Debbie) of Sarasota, and Bruce of Arcadia, FL, grandchildren, Stacie (& Todd) Wise, Michael, Mark & Alyssa Salerno all of Sarasota, a great grandson Christian Wise, sisters, Theresa Jones & Donna Pippen, & Brothers Kenny, David, & Richard. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday in Sarasota. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice with envelopes available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

William E. Sanborn, 35 of Ludington passed away Tuesday evening after injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born March 4, 1969 in Ludington, and married on August 12, 1989 in Battle Creek to Kimberly Sells who survives. He graduated from Ludington High School in 1987 and from Ferris State College in 1989 as a plastic injection tool & die maker. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Community Church in Kalamazoo, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He worked as a tool & die maker in Kalamazoo & the couple returned to the Ludington area in August to open a restaurant Surviving Bill besides his wife Kim are his children Gabriel James (age 5) and Rebecka Lyn (age 3) Sanborn both at home, his parents Edward & Marie Sanborn of Ludington, 3 sisters Ann (& Tom) Martin of Ludington, Karen (& Mike) Gezequel of :Ludington, & Rita (& Scott) Noble of Chassel, MI, 1 brother Robert (& Janet) Sanborn of Ludington, 1 grandmother S.L.E. Wanderer of Ludington, his mother and father-in-law Clyde & Jean Sells of TN, 2 sisters-in-law Cindy (& Jim) Kettle of TN, & Candy (& Phil) Schick of Battle Creek, 1 brother-in-law Terry Sells of Centerville, MI, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sophie French. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church. Visitation was Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to an educational fund for his children with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

John L. Stargaard, 85 of Holiday, FL, passed away Saturday in New port Richey, FL. He was born in Amber Township. He had owned a photography studio. He is survived by 3 nephews, Tim, Tom, & Robert Stargaard, and 2 nieces Cindy Ferris, and Jeanine Keating. There will be no services, and burial was in Rickey cemetery in Amber Township.

Iris Maria Hanson Erickson
Mrs. Iris Hanson Erickson, age 90, passed away peacefully November 23, 2004 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Whitehall on July 5, 1914 to Benjamin and Susan (Jones) Hanson. She attended school in Whitehall and was active in the Methodist Church. She worked in Muskegon at C.W.C and Shaw Walker in the Payroll Department. She joyously married Gordon B. Erickson on January 6, 1962. She became an active member of Grace Epsicopal Church and was a member of the Women's Literary Club. Iris enjoyed travel, outdoors, hunting, fishing and small planes with her husband who died in 1989. She was a kind, loving and positive person who was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Survivors
Step Daughter Patricia (Richard) Newell and granddaughter Dawn Newell. Many cousins including: Dave & Dee Stevens, Kristen & Bob Nelson, Karin Nelson, Bill Kelley, Sydney & Bryce Nelson. A very special exchange student, "virtual son", John Boheman and his wife Ingrid & children Robin & Tess of Sweden. Special friend and helper Barb Bush, Iris' fellow church members and friends at Longfellow Towers.

The funeral service will be held Saturday December 11, 2004 at 8:00 PM with Rev. J. Robert Hector officiating.

Betty Lou (Dickerson) Wilder, 65 passed away at Muskegon Mercy Hospital Unexpectedly Satyrday Evening. Betty Lou Dickerson was born March 26, 1939 in Ypsilanti, MI to Walker and Anna (Vince) Dickerson. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1957. Several years later she moved to California, where in 1970 she married Gary Wilder and he survives. In 1972 the family moved to Michigan where they raised five lovely children. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Wilder Lynch, and 2 sons, Gary Wilder, Jr., and Stephen Wilder, her parents and a brother, Walter Dickerson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, 2 daughters; Debra (& Randy) Rasmussen, Julie (& Billy) Lange, both of Ludington, 5 brothers; Robert (& Charlene) Dickerson of Ottawa Lake, MI, Ronald (& Bertha) Dickerson of Tecumseh, MI, Frank Dickerson of Manitou Beach, MI, and John Dickerson of Farwell, MI, 5 Sisters; Christine (& delbert) Jacobs of Tecumseh, MI, Margaret Thede of Las Vegas, NV, Sue (& Mark) Adsit of Clare, MI, Jean Morton of Barryton, MI, and Patricia Dickerson of Harrison, MI, 15 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation was on Tuesday November 23, from 7-9 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Funeral services were on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Houk officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. As Betty was an animal lover; the family asks that you consider a donation to an animal charity such as the Lakeshore Animal Friends or the Humane Society rather than flowers.

Robert W. Eyestone, 37 of 128 1/2 W. Broadway St., Scottville, passed away suddenly Tuesday November 16, 2004 at the home of friends. He was born on Deember 12, 1966 in Ludington and married on June 28, 2002 to Amanda Johnson and she survives. He attended the Salvation Army Church.
Survivors besides his wife are hid daughters Miranda, age 2 1/2, and Samantha, age 4, both at home, his parents William & Arline Eyestone of Ludington, 1 brother Mark (& Terri) Eyestone of WI, 1 sister Melanie (& Albert) Staderman of KY.
Funeral services for Robert W. Eyestone were held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Major Jonathan Welch officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial was in S. Victory cemetery. Memorial contributions in leiu of flowers will be appreciated and may be made to the family.

Daniel M. Schneider, 79 of Ludington passed away Thursday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born October 29, 1925 in Custer and married on July 25, 1945 in San Francisco to Eileen Bailey who survives. The couple returned to Ludington in 1999 from Dearborn. Daniel was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Marines, serving overseas and in China. He was a member of the Custer Gold Bar Post 5096 VFW. He was employed as plant manager of a plumbing supply company in N. Carolina & Detroit, retiring in 1980.
Surviving besides his wife are 3 daughters, Sandra (& Richard) Allen of Sturgis, Beverly (& Phillip) Bell of Okemos, Maureen (& John) Janesheski of Granger, IN, 1 son Karl (& Michelle) Schneider of Oxford, MI, 13 grandchildren, 3 sisters Helen Laird, Dorothy Rockfall, both of Ludington, Judith (& Lavern) Hillier of FL, 2 brothers, LeRoy (& Lois) Schneider of Ludington, and Bruce Schneider of Ludington, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis & Kenneth, and sister Betty Krantz.
Funeral services were held on Saturday November 13, at 11:30 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Visitation was November 12, from 6-8 PM, and burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the Charity of choice with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Kevin Richard Whitaker, 50 of Ludington passed away Friday afternoon at his residence following an 8 year battle with heart disease. He was born on May 20, 1954 in Ludington and married on August 25, 1979 in Ludington to Clara Majewski who survives. He lived in Mason County all his life and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He graduated from Custer High School and West Shore Community College. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict surving in the US Army from 1972-1975. He was a member of the Edwin H. Ewing Post 76, American Legion, and the Old Engine Club. He had been employed by Skoog Heating, and later Bill's Power Center as a mechanic, & Reliable Distributing in sales, retiring in 1998 due to his illness.
Survivors besides his wife Clara, are 1 daughter, Erin (& Josh) Sly of Ludington, 1 son Richard Whitaker at home, 1 grand daughter Adrienne Sly, his father & step mother, Ken & Sharon Whitaker of Custer, his mother and step father, Eva Jean (& Norbert) Ray of Ludington, 3 sisters, Kathy Whitaker of Charlevoix, Joni (& Steve) Hayes of Petoskey, and Lisa (& John) Runk of Scottville, 2 step sisters, Sandy Rios of Ludington, & Cindy Stahlein of TX, 2 step brothers, Donald Ray and Thaddeus Ray both of Ludington, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, & cousins. He was preceded in death by his step brother Norbert Ray, Jr.
Kevin's wishes were to be cremated, and dress in casual attire for his memorial service at 12:00 PM Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Visitation was from 11:00 AM until the time of service, and Rev. Den Slattery officiated. A luncheon followed the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the Donor's choice.

Willard Lynn Helmuth, 6, of 155 W. Hawley Road, Scottville, died Thursday night, Oct. 21, in a farm accident. Willard was born Feb. 14, 1998. He is survived by his father, Kenneth Sr. and step-mother, Katie; brothers, Kenneth Jr., Harley William and Richard Allen; sister, Margaret Rose; paternal grandparents, Orie and Fannie Helmuth of New York; and maternal grandparents, Levi and Lizzie Herschberger of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa L. in 1999. Funeral services for Willard were at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at the family residence, 155 W. Hawley Road. Burial followed at Swan Creek cemetery in Scottville. Visitation was all day Saturday, Oct. 23, at the family residence. Arrangements are by Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Douglas Lee Budreau, 52 of 3823 N. Sherman Rd. passed away unexpectedly Wednesday October 13, 2004 upon arrival to Spectrum Hospital-Reed City. Douglas was born on April 5, 1952 in Ludington and married on June 15, 1984 to Naja Schwass who survives. He lived in Mason County all his life and was a 1970 graduate of Ludington High School, and he attended West Shore Community College. He enjoyed off road derby, dirt biking, running, and fixing anything that broke. He had been employed for the 30 years at Harsco Track Technologies as a Hydrolic Engineer.
Survivors include his wife Naja, 2 daughters, Heather (& Daniel) Haiss, of Germany, Mya Budreau, at home, 1 son Travis Budreau, also at home, 3 grandsons, Awston, Jayson, & McKensie, his parents, Jerry & Bunnie Budreau of Ludington, 1 brother Bob (& Beth) Budreau of Ludington, his mother in law, Dorothy Schwass of Ludington, 2 sisters in law Russelle (& Cliff) Albrecht of Scottville, and Paula (& Bill) Newkirk, of Sanford, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Douglas Lee Budreau were on Saturday October 16, 2004 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Rev. B. Douglas Niemi officiating. Burial was in Center Riverton cemetery, and visitation was on Friday October 15, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to a college fund for Douglas' children with envelopes available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Helen A. (Szabo) Bellgardt, RN, 85 of Ludington passed away early Monday February 14, 2005 at her residence after a brief illness. Helen A. Szabo was born March 1, 1919 in Ludington and married on May 17, 1941 in Muskegon to Douglas Bellgardt who preceded her in death in 1953. She returned to Ludington in 1959 from Detroit. Helen was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Simon High School and attended Mercy School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. She was a member of Court Ludington # 745 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Medical Center & Baywood Nursing Home, retiring in 1979.
Surviving Helen Bellgardt are her children, Sandra (& Dennis) Nelson, of North Olmstead, OH, Douglas (& Donna) Bellgardt of Grand Rapids, and Mary (& Thomas) Engfer of Ludington, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Menyhart & Paul Szabo, & a sister Theresa Rockwell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 17 at 2:30 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Visitation will be on Wednesday February 16 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A rosary will be recited at at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pere Marquette cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lakeshore Animal Friends with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Paul F. "Dutch" Bedker, 93 of Summit Twp. passed away early Thursday at Oakview Medical Care Facility after an extended illness. He was born January 31, 1912 in Riverton Township and married on November 23, 1938 in Ludington to Frances Peterson who survives. Dutch was a lifelong resident of Mason County and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Scottville. He graduated from Mason County Normal School, and Scottville High School. Dutch Loved hunting and fishing and pinochle. He taught in Mason & Oceana Counties rural schools, and was later employed by Dow Chemical Co for 26 years, he was also a fruit farmer in Summit Twp for most of his life. Surviving besides his wife Frances are 1 son, Roger (& Mary) Bedker of Ludington, 5 grandchildren Megan Bedker, Kathleen Mayes, Karen White, John Ash & Charles Ash, Jr., several Great grandchildren, a son-in-law, Charles Ash, Sr. of Cedar Springs, and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Paula Kay Ash, 2 sisters, Frances, & Hazel, 6 brothers Robert, William, Charles, Otto, Leo, & Harry. Funeral services were held Saturday Feb. 5, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. James Schroeder officiating. Visitation was on Friday Feb 4, 2005 from 2-4 PM and on Saturday Feb. 5, 2005 from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Summit Twp. cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lakeshore Animal Friends, or a charity of choice.

Lois L. MacDonald, 82 of Ludington passed away Tuesday evening at Oakview Medical Care Facility after an extended illness. Lois Mottle was born March 29, 1922 in Forbes, ND and married on June 29, 1946 to Alex MacDonald who survives. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ludington, and a graduate of High School in N. Dakota. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and genealogy. Lois had been employed by the Star Watch Case Co. for many years.
Surviving in addition to her husband Alex, are 1 son, Wayne MacDonald of British Columbia, 1 granddaughter Thai (& Steven) Takashi of New York, 1great grandson, 3 sisters, Muriel Frey of Ludington, Delpha DeZellar of Edina, MN, & Ardy (& Don) Wilgers of S. Dakota, brothers Lowell Mottle of Springfield, MO, and Jack & Joseph Mottle of Seattle. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Dale & Lawrence, and a sister, Melva.
Memorial services were held on Friday February 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Houk officiating. Visitation was from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Joseph Bialochowski, Sr., 76, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2005. Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior three years ago, and today is an heir to the Kingdom of God. Joe married Delores Ann Hackett on October 29, 1949, and she survives, this year would have marked 56 years of marriage. Joe was very influential and an excellent example for their 3 sons, Joe Bialochowski Jr., of Ludington, Dave (Laurie) Bialochowski of Scottville, Tom (Dawn) Bialochowski of Jenison, and 3 grandchildren, Jason & Ryan of Grand Rapids, and Josh of Jenison, sisters, Mary Jane Price & Florence Keson both of Ludington, and his best friend, his dog Nikkie, also 3 step grand children, Clinton & Victor Franklin, and Amanda & Michael Solid all of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Peter & Frances Bialochowski, brother John, and sister Dorothy Carrier.
Joe served in the US Army in WWII from 1946-1948 and stayed on the active reserves. He returned to active duty during the Korean War from 1950-1951, training troops in El Paso, TX. Joe enjoyed his profession and the people he met. For 35 years he repaired and installed furnaces and air conditioners for 3 local companies. He was a prefectionist at his craft and took great pride in his workmanship to satisfy every homeowner. They were never just customers to him, but were considered friends who could call on him any time they had a problem. For the last 10 years before retirement, Joe worked at Ludington Junior & Senior High Schools, in which he also shared good memories, and friends. He enjoyed watching fast pitch softball for over 20 years, and hardly ever missed a game that his grandsons participated in from T-Ball till graduation. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He nicknamed himself "One Shot Joe" even though we heard 2 or 3 come from his direction. He served as Exalted Ruler of the Ludington Lodge #736, Fraternal Order of the Elks in 1980, and a member of the American Legion Post 76. He enjoyed helping to organize dinners, dances, holiday parties, bingo, and the atmosphere of conversation, and good fellowship. Joe will always be remembered and missed by his family. Upon his request there will be no funeral service or visitation with family. Joe hardly ever asked for anything but was a giver of his time and experience. In lieu of flowers Joe requested a donation be made to the Ludington High School Baseball Program or the Ludington High School Athletic Program, in which he had so many fond memories.
