Lawrence W. Dewyer, 48 of Ludington passed away suddenly & peacefully in his sleep early Thursday January 27 at his home. He was born November 19, 1956 in Ludington and married on May 27, 1998 to Christie Bobian who survives.. He lived in Mason County all his life and graduated from Mason County Central High School. He had formerly been employed by Indrillers Oil Co. and later by Bentz Construction. Survivors include his wife Christie, 2 daughters, Barbie (& Dan) Young of Jenison, and Rachel Holden of Ludington, his parents Robert & Jacqueline Dewyer of Ludington, his father in law Duelet N. Bobian of Ludington, brothers Mike (& Julie) Murawski of Manitowoc, WI, Robert (& Lorraine) Dewyer of Kaleva, Charlie (& Ellouise) Dewyer of Custer, sister in law, Janet (& James) Rotta of Ludington, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother in law Roselyn M. Bobian, 1 nephew, and his grandparents. Cremation has been held and there will be no service, a visitation was held on Monday January 31, 2005 from 11:00 until 12:00 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Mary Anne Wroble, 76 of Ludington passed away Monday January 17 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. Mary Anne Lewis was born on March 28, 1928 in Saginaw and married on December 30, 1950 in Highland Park to John D. Wroble, he preceded her in death in 1993. The couple came to Ludington in 1965 from Midland. Mary Anne was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. She graduated from Saginaw High School & from Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1950. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, and the D.A.R., and was a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross. Mary Anne was a Registered Nurse working in hospitals in Saginaw, Highland Park, Midland, and Ludington. After her employment, she was devoted to raising her children and working as a volunteer.
Survivors include her 6 children, Susanne Ackley of Eaton Rapids, MI, David (& Teresa) Wroble of Ludington, Melanie (& Robert) Stewart of Cincinnati, OH, Jeffrey Wroble of Ludington, Patrick (& Natalie) Wroble of Ludington, Michael (& Inga) Sparrow of Los Angeles, CA, 9 grandchildren, Carson James, Nicholas, Abby, Kyle, Cameron, Kelsey, Robbie, Kevin, & Neal, 2 sisters, Betty Miller of Sand Point, MI, & Nancy (& Fred) Apple of Marietta, GA, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by her parents Henry Clay & Theo (Burlingame) Lewis, 4 brothers Oren, Gene, Gerald, & Phillip Lewis.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 2:00 PM at St. Simon Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Visitation was on Wednesday at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. A rosary was recited at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Sparrow Hospital Children's Miracle Network, PO Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909 with envelopes available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Beatrice Elaine Matson, 90 formerly of Ludington passed away Monday afternoon at the Maple Valley Nursing Home, Maple City, MI after an extended illness. Beatrice E. Allen was born on February 12, 1914 in Ludington to Celia Forbes Allen and James William Allen. She married James William Matson in 1933 in Ludington, & he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Ludington High School in 1932 and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, Lincoln Hills Country Club, Garden Club, Bridge Club, and an avid bowler. Beatrice and James owned the Friendly Market in Ludington for many years.
Survivors include her children, Roger (& Kathy) Matson of Glen Arbor, MI, and Mary Dawn Hansen of Ellijay, GA, a daughter-in-law Evelyn Suman of Scottville, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by a son James William Matson, Jr., and a grandson William James Matson.
Funeral services for Beatrice E. Matson were held on Thursday January 13, at 2:00 PM at the St. Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Boehne officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home wich is handling the arrangements.

Marie M. Zielinski, 90 of Ludington passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness. Marie M. Rutowski was born November 21, 1914 in Manistee and married in February of 1940 to Thaddeus Frank Zielinski, and he passed away in May of 1964. Marie lived in Ludington most of her life and was a member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church. She had been employed at Baywood Nursing Home for a short time.
Marie is survived by 2 sons, Rodney (& Karen) Zielinski of Muskegon, and Dennis (& Kathy) Zielinski of South Haven, 1 daughter, Annette Stranger of Scottville, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Patricia Rutowski of Ludington, a brother-in-law, Edward H. Anderson of Ludington, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband, by a grandson Kevin James Stranger, 5 brothers & 2 sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday January 7, 2005 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with Rev Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Visitation was on Friday at St. Stanislaus Church from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be directed to the family with envelopes available at The Alexander-Rye which is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Kotting, 73 formerly of the Detroit area passed away on Thursday at Oakview Medical Care Facility after a lengthy illness. Mary Wallace was born in Troy, MI on December 8, 1931.
Mary finished nursing school and became an LPN, she was a very successful nurse and mother, and her strength & courage is what will be remembered the most.
She worked in the Oakland County area at several nursing homes as an LPN.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Laura Kotting of Clarkston, MI, Nancy Lotting of Leeland, MI, & Linda (& Derik) Heimerdinger of Ludington, 4 grandchildren, Jeff Hooton, Lauren Hooton, Jack Heimerdinger, and Kyle Heimerdinger, her mother Dorothy Parker of Madison Hts, MI, 1 sister, 2 brothers, and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Owen Wallace, and her step father Fred Parker.
Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral with a family friend officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery in Berkley, MI. Memorials may be directed to Hospice.

Florence Marion Bradshaw went to meet her Lord on March 8, 2005 at age 96.
A lifelong resident, she was born to Swan & Augusta Swanson on October 5, 1908. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Bradshaw in 1968; parents; brothers: Fred, Albert, Leonard & Arthur Swanson and sisters: Laura Flanelly, Evelyn Swanson, Esther Wadel and Annette Hansen.
Florence was a member of Washington Aveenue Baptist Church/Cornerstone Baptist for 67 years. She was active in the visitation program of the church for many years along with her husband. She also served faithfully in the Beginner Department of the Sunday School and various women's missionary groups. She was often found in the church kitchen helping out with lunches and dinners using her gift of serving.
Mrs. Bradshaw will be lovingly remembered by her family: Robert L. (Pat) Bradshaw, Bruce W. (Karen) Bradshaw, of Ludington and Roger D. (Nancy) Bradshaw of Fremont and daughters, Joyce (Sid) Maczka of Grand Rapids and Sandra L. Taylor of Montague. Grandchildren: Doug Bradshaw of Chicago; Jim Bradshaw of Allendale, Kathi Doan and Amy Ruba of Ludington; Andy Bradshaw of Fremont, Tom Bradshaw and Molly Bradshaw of Grand Rapids; David Nelson and Ruthann Bonney of Rockford, Lynn Wood of Cedar Springs; Chris Hajdu of Grand Haven and Stephanie Allan of Howell; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The service of Praise and Thanksgiving for Mrs. Bradshaw will be held Friday March 11, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with her grandson, Pastor Doug Bradshaw officiating assisted by Dr. James H. Carlson.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Cornerstone Baptist Chyrch Building Fund. Friends may celebrate Mrs. Bradshaw's life with her family from 6-9 PM on Thursday at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Darlene M. Perow, 65 of N. Muskegon and formerly of Ludington passed away Monday evening at her residence. Darlene M. Paukette was born on May 6, 1939 in Sault Ste. Marie, and married on January 9, 1960 in Sault Ste. Marie to Daniel J. Perow, he passed away on November 2, 1995. The couple lived in Ludington for 25 years before moving to Muskegon. She graduated high school in Sault Ste. Marie in 1958. Darlene was employed as a retail clerk for many department stores including Giantway, and K-Mart, most recently at Great Party in Muskegon.
Surviving Darlene are her children, Pamela (& Brian) Burchart of Whitehall, Mark (& Debbie) Perow of Ludington, Darin (& Lori) Perow of Wyoming, MI, and Teresa (& Jeffrey) Seidel of West Bloomfield, MI, 14 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 3 sisters, Elizabeth Harrison of Sault Ste. Marie, Margaret (& Mike) Fournier of Farmington Hills, and DeLores (& Joseph) LaBelle of Fitchburg, Mass., nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Darlene M. Perow were held on Friday March 4, 2005 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wayne Buskirk officiating. Visitation was on Thursday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home, and burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, or the Humane Society with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Edward "Eddie" Bernard Rotta, 42 of Ludington passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening at his residence. He was born on June 19, 1963 in Ludington. He had attended Ludington Area Schools, and was a member of Ludington Lodge #637 Loyal Order of Moose. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping. He worked in construction and masonry.
Surviving are 2 sisters Debra (& Ralph) Favero of Seneca, IL, and Sara (& Gordon) Bolan of Joliet, IL, 1 brother James Robert (& Janet) Rotta of Ludington, nieces Patricia Bolan, Megan & Amanda Favero, nephews, Dan Rotta, Stanley Masiwchuk of Traverse City, and Patrick Masiwchuk of Free Soil. He will be dearly missed by family and a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Clara Rotta who he took care of for many years until thier death.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday April 16 at 11:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Visitation was from 9:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Nationla Multiple Sclerosis Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Isabelle F. Wanderer, 93 of Ludington passed away Tuesday April 12, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Isabelle was born on October 23, 1911 in Ludington to Frank & Therese Wanderer, and was a lifelong resident of Ludington. She graduated from St. Simon High School and was a lifelong member of St. Simon Catholic Church.
Isabelle was employed briefly at Star Watch Co., and later worked for Wanderer Feed Store & The Wiley Store in Scottville, she also worked for St. Simon Church and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Survivors include a sister in law, S.L.E. Wanderer of Ludington, 3 nephews, Edward James, & David Wanderer of Ludington, Dan (& Sharon) Wanderer of Lansing, 5 nieces, Judy (& Doug) Lemere of Ludington, Mary Dombay of England, Loretta & Ann Wanderer of Ludington & Becky (& John) Shafer of Scottville, great nephews, Cory Taylor, Johnathon Shafer, Wayne (& Lara) Myers, &Ron Myers, great great nieces & nephews, Stephanie, Marc (& Megan), Jordan, Madison, Cameron, & Collin Myers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Crescentia, and 3 brothers, Frank, Edward, & Robert.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time. Arrangements are by Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, Inc.

Paul E. Kline, 72, of Pentwater and formerly of Midland, died April 5 at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. He was born Jan. 18, 1933 in Detroit. He married Mary Lawhead Sept. 11, 1954 and she survives. Paul graduated from Michigan State University and received a degree in chemical engineering. From 1956 to 1972, Mr. Kline held several management positions in production and engineering for a major division of Dow Chemical Company. In 1972, Mr. Kline was promoted to process consultant. 'The process consultant classification recognizes individuals who have company-wide standing as experts in their respective field of engineering and is reserved for those who are making outstanding contributions in process technology by personal leadership and effort' (Dow internal news quote-1972). There are fewer than 10 process consultants in the entire Dow organization. He served as a major division-wide process consultant over the 1973-1986 period. This covered areas of process improvements, process developments and energy conservation. These efforts resulted in tens of millions of dollars in savings. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Dawn (Rick) Berger of Ft. Worth, Texas, Laura (Hunter) Lange of Prairie du Sac, Wis. and Karen (Jim) Lumpkin of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Chris Berger, Alex, Amanda, Aaron and Amy Lang and Jonathan, Jeremy and Jameson Lumpkin. He was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Kline. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Carol A. Ruba, 92 of Victory Township passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning at Memorial Medical Center. Carol A. Mero was born August 20, 1912 in Amber Township and married on June 5, 1938 to Charles Ruba who passed away in 1989. Carol was a lifelong resident of Mason County and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She attended County Normal School, graduated Ludington High School and Central Michigan University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught elementary school at Star School in Amber Twp., Dewey School in Victory, St. Simon School, Victory Elementary, Summit School, and Mason County Central School. Carol was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Court 745 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was very interested in the history of Mason County.
Surviving Carol A. Ruba are 2 sons, John (& Sharon) Ruba of Victory Twp, David (& Patti) Ruba of Greenville, 2 daughters, Janet Lyewski of Ludington, Kathryn (& Dan) Griffith of Ludington, 7 grandchildren, Steve & Dan Ruba, Marc Lyewski, Holly Alway, Amanda Fort, Ryan Marson, and Randi Whitsell. Carol was preceded in death in addition to her husband by 2 grandchildren, Lari Lynn Lyewski and Stacy Ruba.
Mass of Christian Burial for Carol A. Ruba was celebrated on Tuesday March 29 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Visitation was on Monday March 28 from 7-9 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home where a scripture and wake service was held at 7:30PM. Memorials may be directed to the Mason County Historical Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Robert J. Strahan, 56 of 5446 S. Stiles Rd., Ludington passed away unexpectedly Sunday March 20, 2005 in Seattle, WA. Robert was born July 24, 1948 in Ludington and married on June 10, 1972 to Karen Wicklund who survives. He attended St. Simon High School and graduated from Ludington High School in 1966 and attended Muskegon Business College. He was affiliated with St. Simon Catholic Church, and a member of Ludington Lodge #51 Danish Brotherhood in America. Robert was the Vice President of National Steel Erection Inc. in Owensboro, KY and traveled extensively with the business.
Surviving besides his wife Karen are 4 sons, Aaron of Melbourne Australia, Petty Officer Seth of Jonesport, Maine, Zachary of Fairport Harbor, OH, Spec. Jacob Strahan of Ft. Lee, VA, 1 daughter Carna at home, his mother June (Strahan) (& John) Carney of Ludington, 3 brothers Timothy (& friend Cay Greiner) Strahan, James (& Jennifer) Strahan both of Ludington, Peter (& Karen) Strahan of Twin Lake, nieces, nephews, & cousins, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel & Diane Stewart, Chip & Kristy Beyer, David & Cheri Wicklund, Tim & Sue Woiral, Jeff & Donna Wicklund all of Mason County. He was preceded in death by his father James in 1980.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday March 28, 2005 at St. Simon Catholic Church with Rev Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Visitation was on Friday March 25, 2005 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. Burial will be in Center Riverton cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ludington Area Catholic Schools with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.
