Dolores Joan 'Lori' Matson Died June 30, 2005 Dolores Joan 'Lori' Matson, of Ludington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, at her home, after a year-long battle with cancer. Lori was born July 25, 1933 in Ludington, the daughter of A. Carl and Renetta E. (Steinberg) Kliewer. Lori married W.H. 'Jack' Matson on May 1, 1965 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ludington, the Rev. John Christensen officiating. He preceded her in death in April, 2002. Lori was a 1950 graduate of Redford High School in Detroit. She worked for G.M. Chevrolet central office in Detroit. Survivors include one son, Todd (Jill) Matson of Oakwood, Ill. and grandson, Connor Matson of Oakwood. Lori was a homemaker and was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ludington. She served as the financial secretary and was also a member of the Women's Guild. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2 at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Visitation was 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Lori's name to the Sally K. Johnson Foundation, West Michigan Regional Cancer and Blood Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Gerald R. Genter, 74, of Ludington died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 29, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 14, 1930 in Ludington, where he lived most of his life. On July 19, 1958 he was married to Patricia Wagner, and she survives. He was a graduate of Ludington High School and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Edwin H. Ewing Post 76 of the American Legion, Ludington Lodge 736 Order of Elks, Ludington Aerie 1354 FOE and P.M. Lodge 299 Free and Accepted Mason. He was a founding member of Dear Brothers Association and was instrumental in the Downtown Development Authority. He was the owner of the Reliable Distributing Co., a family-owned business since 1931. He loved gardening, trains, collecting clocks and clowns. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Krista Genter of Ludington and Katrina (Bart) Franklin of Grand Rapids; son, Kraig (Shannon) Genter of Scottville; grandchildren, Brendan, Abbigael and Caleb Genter; sister, Norma Jean (Harold) Sherman of Ludington; sisters-in-law, Esther and Rita; brothers-in-law, Michael, Jack (and Roberta) and Gilbert; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard; a nephew, William; and sister-in-law, Peggy. Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 2 at United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kenneth Tabor officiating. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 1 at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the church. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at his home at 804 Diane Street following the Fourth of July parade on Monday, July 4 for family and friends. Memorials may be directed to the Ludington Jaycees Freedom Festival. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Martha I. Peplinski, 92, of Ludington died Wednesday night, Oct. 19 at Oakview Medical Care Facility. She was born Martha Herman on May 9, 1913 in Traverse City and lived most of her life in Mason County. She was married July 20, 1931 to Thomas D. Peplinski and he preceded her in death May 10, 1985. She was a member of St. Simon Altar Society. She worked for Star Watch Case Co. for many years until her retirement about 1960.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret 'Muzzi' (Linus) Thalman and Joann (William) Tolles; one son, Thomas (Barbara) Peplinski, all of Ludington; nine grandchildren, Kathleen (Stephen) Harrand of Midland, Karen (James) Bradley of Ontonagon, Jody (Michael) Larsen of Simpsonville, S.C., Charles Thalman of Mt. Pleasant, Theresa (Dan) Rohde of Scottville, Thomas (Megan) Peplinski, Tony Peplinski, Traci Peplinski, Linus (Sheresa) Thalman Jr., all of Ludington; one stepgranddaughter, Nancy (Henry) Moore of DelRay Beach, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, Stephenie (Michael) McVittie, Scott (Clara) Harrand, all of Midland, Linus Thalman III of Orion, Eric Larsen of Kalamazoo, Kimberly Larsen of Converse, Texas, Trevor and Tyler Amburgey of Scottville, Christopher Thalman, Katie and Colby Peplinski, all of Ludington; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Amanda Moore of Lakeland, Fla.; nine great-great-grandchildren, Zachery and Alina McVittie, Kaleb and Erica Hatch, Kayleigh Larsen, Audrey Harrand, Landon, Chase and Alexis Thalman and Logan William Larsen, expected to arrive in two weeks; one sister-in-law, Mary (Bernie) Josiota of Huntington Park, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Todd Harrand; her parents, Wenzel and Frances (Stefaniak) Herman; two brothers, Walter and Harold; and sister, Anna Garvin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at St. Simon Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Schichtel, celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday to time of service at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Simon Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine M."Katie" Sheehan of Ludington went to be with her Lord on October 5, 2005. Catherine Merle (Sachse) Sheehan was born May 6, 1917 in Indiana to William and Audra (Wright) Sachse. Her mother died when she was 3. Eventually her father re-married and when she was 9, her family moved to Chicago, IL where she met her husband Howard J. Sheehan. They celebrated 45 years of marriage in September 1979 and Howard passed away October 1979. They were the parents of 3 children, Barbara & Charles Pichla of Niles, IL, Patricia A. Johnson of Ludington, & Howard J. Sheehan, Jr. of Matteson, IL.
Catherine is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Michael & Jennifer Pichla of Chicago, Victoria & Paul Luz of Niles, IL, and Todd & Krista Johnson of Scottville, 4 great grandchildren, Jorey Guillermo of Niles, IL, Alexzanda Johnson & Bradley Johnson both of Scottville, and Charles Luz of Niles, IL, and 1 sister Peggy Dowhen of Countryside, IL, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband Howard J. Sheehan, by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Sachse, her step- mother Lucile Sachse, brother Barney Sachse, daughter- in- law Nancy Sheehan, infant sister, and brother in law Robert Dowhen.
Catherine was a wonderful mother. She worked as a secretary in downtown Chicago for 27 years. She moved to Ludington in 1991 and attended St. Simon Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, walking, reading, and doing word search puzzles.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday October 11, 2005 at 12:00 PM at St Simon Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel the celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery on Rivergrove, IL. Visitation was on Monday October 10, 2005 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home from 2-4 & 7-9 PM with a Scripture and Wake Service at 7:30PM.

Rodney L. Bryant, 62 of Whitehall and formerly of Ludington passed away Sunday December 11, 2005 at Hackley Hospital Muskegon after an extended illness. He was born on March 20, 1043 in Ludington. He lived in Ludington until the past 5 years when he moved to Whitehall. He was a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Simon High School. He retired in April from Howmet Corp. where he had been employed as a caster for the past 36 years.
Survivors include 4 sons, Daniel (& Angie) Bryant, Timothy, Marc (& Candy), and Matthew G. (& Jeanette) Bryant all of Ludington, 1 daughter, Michelle (John) Swendrowski of Sparta, 9 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Delores (Larry) Balch of Grayling, Joanie (Tom) Spader of Fremont, OH, Lillian Pierce of Ludington, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Isabelle (Sielski) Bryant.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 17, 2005 at 11:00 Am at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel officiating. Visitation will be also on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a local drug and alcohol program with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

George E. Wagner, Jr. of 3884 S. Morton Rd., Riverton Twp, passed away Saturday December 10, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon following surgery. George E. Wagner, Jr., was born February 9, 1925 in Ludington and lived in Mason County all his life. He graduated from St. Simon High School in 1942 and was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church. He was married on October 11, 1947 in Ludington to Maxine A. Lemire, who preceded him in death on September 8, 1993. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Mildred, Vera, Helen, & Maxine. The couple owned and operated a fruit farm in Riverton Twp for many years and Wagner & Sons Construction Co. He enjoyed golf, model airplanes, gardening, and church activities. He enjoyed music and singing in several local Choirs. He was a member of the Pere Marquette Council 1492, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are 8 sons, George (Judy) Wagner, III, Edmund (Jan) Wagner, John (Cindy) Wagner, Wayne (Melissa) Wagner all of Ludington, Bruce Wagner of Hart, Jeffrey (Tracy) Wagner of Pentwater, Gregory (Kathy) Wagner of Caledonia, Marc (Sharon) Wagner of Stanton, 1 daughter, Susan (Larry) Thompson of Scottville, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 14, 2005 at 10:00 AM at St. Simon Catholic Church with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel the Celebrant. Burial will be in Pere Marquette cemetery. The family will meet friends for a visitation from 1-4 & 6-9 PM Tuesday ecember 13, 2005 at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. A scripture and wake service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Simon Catholic Church, Ludington Area Catholic School Endowment Fund, St. Simon Youth Ministry, or the charity of the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Jennifer Jo Sterling, 32 passed away friday November 25, 2005 in the comfort of her parents home. Jennifer attended Mason County Eastern Schools, in 1993 she graduated from Mason County Central Adult Education. Jennifer was affectionately known by her family as "Bubba". Throughout her childhood years she was an active member of Bachelor Evangelical Covenant Church where she accepted the Lord as her personal saviour in 1982. She was actively involved in Girl Scouts, basketball and baseball as well.
Jennifer will be greatly missed & remembered by her parents William and Joanne Sterling of Fountain, her two children, Joseph Sterling of Ludington and Brandon Thrailkill of Mears, she is also survived by her younger siblings, Kimberly Sterling of Ludington, & Sgt. William Sterling of San Diego, CA, her nephew Brett Sabby of Ludington will also have many memories of his "Aunt Jenny". She is also survived by her maternal grandmother Marguerite Fifarek, her aunt & two uncles, & numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Letsinger officiating. Visitation was also on Tuesday from 11:00 -1:00 PM, memorial contributions may be made to Jennifer's family. John 5:24

Edward A. Skvarla, 82, of Ludington died Tuesday evening, Nov. 1 at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. He was born Dec. 6, 1922 in Karlin. He married Dorothy Gadziemski Aug. 3, 1957 and she survives. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II during which he served in the U.S. Army. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, hunting, fishing and trapping. He was employed in maintenance for Atkinson Mfg. for many years, and was presently retired.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Marty (Emmett) Smith of Custer; a son, Ronald (Linda) Skvarla of Montague; a grandson, Matthew Richardson of Traverse City; two stepgrandsons, Thomas (Wendy) and Joseph Skowronski; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Jasmine; and brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Frank.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday November 4, 2005 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Schichtel, Celebrant. Following the Mass, American Legion members will do a final salute at the church. Burial will follow at Pere Marquette cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of Mass. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or Pere Marquette cemetery Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Paul R. Coleman, 65, of Ludington, passed away Oct. 31 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Per his request, there will be no services or visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lakeshore Animal Friends or Oakview Medical Care Facility. Envelopes are available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Edith Milre Clark went to be with her Lord on Dec. 18. Edith was born Aug.17, 1912 to Claud and Maggie Bradshaw in Columbia City, Ind. She moved to Ludington with her family as a child. She attended Marchido grade school and graduated from Ludington High School. Edith was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, now Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the church sewing group. On Aug. 11, 1934 she married Joe Robert Clark and he survives. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in August 2005.
She will be remembered by her loving husband, Joe Clark; daughters Rosamond and Louis Carlson of Ludington, and Dorothy and David Plyler of Muskegon; grandchildren, Brian and Jewels Carlson of Cornville, Ariz., Rita and Gary Kolanowski of Muskegon, Jonathan and Anna Plyler of Muskegon, Tom and Lisa Carlson of Madison, Wisc., Jeffrey and Heidi Plyler of Muskegon; great-grandchildren Rachel and Will McMiller, Samuel and Matthew Plyler, Gregory, Lillian and Olivia Plyler, all of Muskegon, Irene Carlson of San Diego, Calif.; great-great-granddaughter Alexzandrea McMiller of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; sister and brother-in-law Fern and Harman Schinbeckler; and nieces Shirley Reichner and Phyllis Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Dr. James Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Marilyn Ruth Gadziemski, Age 71, passed away on January 28, 2006 at Oakview Medical Care Facility. Marilyn was born in Ludington on November 5, 1934 to Henning and Josephine (Christensen) Benson, attended Lakeview School and graduated Ludington High School in 1952. She was employed for 21 years at Ludington State Bank and spent many years raising and taking care of her family as a stay-at-home mother. She married Floyd J. Gadziemski on September 28, 1972 at St. Simon Church, Ludington, who preceded her in death on 1/1/2004. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister as infants and brother-in-law, Fred Johnston. She is survived by two children, Donna (and Scott) Miller of Caledonia, MI and Jim (and Allie) Gadziemski of Waukesha, WI and four very special grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan Miller and Jarrett and Calvin Gadziemski, as well as one sister, Mrs. Fred (Alice) Johnston, of Ludington and two brothers, George (Lois) Benson of Whitehall and Alvin (Carol) Benson of Ludington, many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family received friends on Monday, January 30 from 6-8 pm at Alexander-Rye funeral home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 12 noon with Reverend Steve Barber, with visitation beginning at 11 am. Her children hosted a light lunch at Harbor View Marina following funeral services in celebration of her life and love of living near Lake Michigan. Contributions in her memory can be given to West Shore Chapter of The American Red Cross to support local Blood Services Program, 1644 W. US 10, Scottville, MI 49454 with envelopes available at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pere Marquette cemetery.

Lou Ann Gadziemski, 46 of 5787 Limouze passed away Friday morning at her home after a long battle with cancer. Lou Ann was born on November 4, 1959 in Ludington. She had lived in Rock Springs, Wyoming and Grand Rapids and returned to Ludington in May of 2005. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and graduated from Ludington High School and attended Davenport College where she received her Associates Degree in Business Administration. She had been employed as a paralegal in Grand Rapids until her illness forced her retirement. Lou Ann enjoyed fishing, walking and reading.
Survivors include her parents, Ted & Jackie Gadziemski of Ludington, 2 sisters, Judith (& Terry) Taylor of Grand Rapids, and Karen Samuels of Ludington, 1 brother Ted W. (& Beverly) Gadziemski of Evans Georgia, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Monday January 30, at 10:30 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. Fr Ken Schichtel officiating. Visitation was also on Monday from 9:30AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pere Marquette cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Michigan with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Kelly Lee Bonnville, 31, of Shelby, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 20 in Memphis, Tenn. Kelly was born June 13, 1974 in Muskegon. Kelly grew up in Ludington and graduated in 1992 from Ludington High School. She received a bachelor's degree in 2002 from Baker College of Muskegon. Kelly is survived by her parents Bill and Laurie Beckman of Shelby and Bob and Donna Bonnville of Fruitport. She is also survived by her brother, Rob (Shar) Bonnville of Marysville, Wash.; nephews Jordan Penney of Marysville, Wash., and Brandon Atkins of Grand Rapids; nieces Brooke and Shyan Bonnville of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Aryanna McIntosh of Ludington and Braylin McIntosh of Grand Rapids, all of whom were the loves of her life; grandmothers Wilma McIntosh and Dorothy Cartier, both of Ludington; numerous aunts and uncles, one especially close to Kelly, Rise and Larry McIntosh of Ludington; cousins, and special friend Dan Frank of Shelby. Kelly was a caring and loving person with a heart of gold. She will be lovingly remembered as a special daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Kelly will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Kelly's last gift she gave was the gift of life to many people as an organ donor. A celebration of Kelly's' life was held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Community Church, 109 N. Harrison St., Ludington, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Barber officiating. Visitation with Kelly's family was from 6 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Kelly's memory to the Western Michigan Alzheimer's Association, in honor of her loving grandmother, Wilma McIntosh. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.

Jacquelyn K. Fouts, 67 of Ludington passed away on Friday January 6, 2006 at Tendercare of Ludington after a long illness. Jacquelyn K. Larsen was born on January 14, 1938 in Ludington and married to Marlin Fouts who survives. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Ludington and a 1956 graduate of Ludington High School. She had been employed in the bakery at Giant Supermarket, Prevo's, and also worked for Gibbs Restaurant.
Surviving besides her husband are 1 son, Roger M. (& Debra) Fouts of Sardis, TN, 1 daughter Debbie (& Andrew) Meli of Ludington, 4 grandchildren, Megan, Thea, Rebekah, and Seth, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Robert D. in 1958, a brother, Robert Larsen, sisters, Pat Miller, and Betty Wixtel.
Memorial services for Jacquelyn K. Fouts were held on Tuesday January 10, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Friesner, Jr. officiating. Visitation was on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lakeshore Animal Friends with envelopes available at the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home.
