Char Boyd

Char Boyd, 56, of North Street went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 30, 2002.

Char was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Bumbletown.

Char was a devoted wife and mother.

She loved her husband and would bend her own strong spirit to the teachings of her Lord making her husband the "Head of the household."

Her children were her most precious gift from God. She would chuckle about her son Chris as she would remember the little blond boy that gave her a run for her money and then be so proud of the successful young man he has become. She was so proud of her daughter, Heather. Not for Heather's accomplishments, although there are many, but for the beautiful person that Heather has become inside.

Char's illness was short and unexpected, but she used the time to share her faith and love with many. During her illness and hospitalization, hospital staff would ask who this woman was because she had so many visitors and was so popular. Crowds of people gathered in her room to visit and pray with her.

Char was also a loving and conscientious daughter. While in the hospital, her father said, "She was the ray of sunshine that would come through our door." Throughout her illness, Char gave "Susu, " which from her Finnish heritage translates to "Great Strength."

Char was an active member of the Body of Christ at Hillside Wesleyan Church where she would go to worship and praise. Within that group of Christians and outside of them as well she continued to minister with understanding and compassion.

During her illness, God was beseeched with prayers for healing and a miracle. Ultimately, the miracle was revealed. Char's life on this Earth was a miracle.

Char is survived by her husband, Stuart; and her children, Chris of Las Vegas and her daughter, Heather Boyd of Arlington, Va. She is also survived by her parents, James and Helen Winquist of Port Huron; a brother, Keith of Canton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Char's friends join with her family to praise her life here on Earth and we will continue to live on in the hearts of many forever.
