Donald W. Schultz

Donald W. Schultz, 75, of Port Huron, died Thursday, November 16, 2000, in Marwood Manor after a long illness.

He as born May 21, 1925, in Port Huron to Herbert and Margaret Yeager Schultz and was a lifelong Port Huron area resident. He married Marjorie A. Nelson on September 24, 1949, in Port Huron.

Mr. Schultz retired from Detroit Edison Co. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of the Schubert Club Male Chorus.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, William Schultz, David Schultz and Paul Schultz; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David (Martha) Brown; a grandson, William A. "Andy" Schultz II; and a granddaughter, Olivia Brown, all of Port Huron; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Keith (Delores) Dowding of Marysville; his mother-in-law, Matilda Nelson of Port Huron; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Carolyn) Nelson of Lakewood, Colo: and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. today in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2000, in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert H. Mann will officiate.

Burial will be at Lakeside cemetery,

Pallbearers will be William A. "Andy" Schultz II, David Brown, Robert Sheehy, John Livingston, Michael Dowding and Donald Fick.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Richard Sommers Jr.

Richard Sommer Jr., 69, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday In Port Hospital on Nov. 8, 2000, after a short illness.

He was born Feb18, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo. the son of the late Richard and Martha Sommer.

He served in the US. Navy and was a, member of St. Mary Catholit Church. He was the owner and operator of the Super Sub Shop on Pine Grove Avenue.

He is survived by his son, Mark Sommer of St. Clair; his sister, Judy Combs of St. Louis, Mo.; his brothers, Joseph Sommer, Bruce Sommer and Jerome Sommer, all of St. Louis, Mo.; and a sister, Janey Baldwin of Florida. I .

He i4s preceded in; death by his brother Mark Sommer, who died in 1969.

Funeral services will be 11 am. Friday in St. Wry Catholic Church, 1505 Ballentine The Rev. Stanley A. Wyczawski, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allied Veterans cemetery.

Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

The St. Clair County Allied Veterans will conduct military honors.

Lawrence E. Therrien

Lawrence E. Therrien, 74, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2000 in Mercy Hospital.

He was born December 27, 1925, in St. Ignace to the late Winfield and Naomi (Geoffroy) Therrien. He married Helen E. Miller September 21, 1946, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Huron.

Mr. Therrien retired from the US Postal service in 1980 as Assistant Postmaster. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Guam. He was a life member of D.A.V., V.F.W. Post 2340, American Legion Post 449, St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 42 years attending jamborees and earning the Silver Beaver Award. He also received the "Lamb Award" a national recognition bestowed on Lutheran adults. Mr. Therrien also enjoyed the outdoors and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen; his brother, Donald (JoAnn) Therrien, Port Huron; two nieces, Kelli Jo Therrien and Jill Jedzejewski, all of Port Huron; a nephew, Stephen Therrien, Avoca; great niece, Mallory Jo Michaluk, Port Huron; his brother in law, Lloyd (Jan) Miller, St. Helen; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Larry and his brother Joseph P. Therrien.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday in Pollock Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert H. Mann will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Howard Borgman, Wayne Bradford, David Sturdevan, Jack Hood, and Cliff McInnes.

Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America or Trinity Lutheran Church.

Barbara J. Triplett

Barbara Triplett, 33, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly. Wednesday, November 15, 2000, in the Mercy Hospital's emergency room.

She was born March 29, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Triplett of Port Huron; her sister, Vicky Triplett of Texas; three brothers, Bobby, David and Steven Triplett all of Kansas; and her best friend, George VanLuven of Port Huron.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Triplett, who died November 2, 1999.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street Pastor Don Sperling will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home.

Jeannette L. Weaver

Jeannette L. Weaver, 46, of Marine City, formerly of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2000.

She was born December 14, 1953, in Youngstown, Ohio. She married Billie G. Weaver, April 11, 1970, in Port Huron.

Mrs. Weaver was employed as a caretaker for Lansing Management, Bree Manor, Marwood Manor. She loved making Indian Dolls.

She is survived by her husband, her two sons, Billie G. Weaver Jr., St. Clair and Daniel J. (Norma) Weaver, Algonac; her daughter, Jeannette L. (Gary) Carpo, Croswell; her mother, Vera McDonald, Port Huron; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Ed Crago, Richard (Virginia) Ameel, and Bob Ameel; seven sisters, Dawn Ameel, Pat (Buck) Lagosh, Gail Petipren, Gloria (Don) Struthers, Shirley (John) Brown, Kathy McDonald, and Melody (Larry) Wilson; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Julie Payionk.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dwane Crago; her step-father, Thomas McDonald; her son, Daton Weaver; and her brother, Chuck Ameel.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday in Pollock Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in Pollock Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Bakay of First Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be held in Lakeside cemetery.

Rev. William F. Welch

The Rev. William F. Welch, senior priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, on Friday, November 17, 2000, at the age of 90.

He was born March 6, 1910, in Jackson.

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Jackson, he began his studies for the priesthood at Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and Mount St. Mary Major Seminary, Cincinnati. He was ordained a priest on June 7, 1936.

Father Bill served as associate pastor at St. Michael Parish in Flint, St. Louis Parish in Mount Mt. Clemens, St. Leo Parish in Detroit, St. Mary Magdalene in Hazel Park and St. Agnes Church in Detroit.

He was named founding past or of St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron, on June 25, 1955. He served the parish community for 24 years as its pastor, retiring on Aug. 1, 1979.

His retirement years were spent at his cottage on Lake Vinyard in Brooklyn, Mich., from which he continued to help out parishes near and far with his priestly ministry.

In 1993, he moved to the Senior Clergy Village in Livonia. In 1997, after suffering several small strokes, he moved to Marywood Nursing Home until his final illness.

He was a former member of Knights of Columbus in Hazel Park.

He will be missed by his family, friends and his brother priests.

He is survived by his sister, Katherine Evans; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Wiseman Welch; his brother, Howard; and his sister, Marian.

His remains will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. A Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. His Eminence. Adam Cardinal Maida will officiate.

Father Bill will then be transferred to his home parish, St. Mary Star of the Sea, 301 S. Mechanic St., Jackson, where he will lie in state from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's in Jackson. The Rev. Paul Grehl, OSF, will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the funeral Mass in his family plot in St. John's cemetery, Jackson.

A wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday in Port Huron. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in Jackson.

Arrangements are by the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

May he rest in peace.

Marie Davis

Marie Davis, 86 of Goodells, MI, passed away in the home of her daughter on Thursday, July 17, 2003, after a long illness.

She was born April 2, 1917 in Rome, GA to the union of the late James and Arvelia Cathey. She was the eighth born of ten children, four daughters and six sons.

Marie married the late James "Honey" Davis on May 25, 1967. They shared their life and joys of hunting, fishing and gardening for many great years. She was a very special person. She loved to have big parties which included all the wild game food one could eat and horseshoes one could pitch. She loved and cared for all who were around her, and enjoyed baking home made biscuits, cakes, pies and cookies.

Marie leaves to mourn a son and daughter-in-law, Albert "Butch" and Kathy Cathey, Farmington Hills, MI; a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Arvelia and Walter Williams, Goodells; ten grandchildren, James, Albert III (Tina), Dangelo (Angela), Lafonce (Elda), Kendrick, Dedrick, Oji, Gertrude (Tory), Tammy (Ricki), Lisa, Keisha and Edricka; 20 great grandchildren, Reyelle, Chris, Deanna, Diangelo Jr., Alteena, Janeca, Albert IV, Ricki, Sophi, Nicole, Oronde Jr., Desiree, Dominque, K.J., Dedrick Jr., Jael, Jordan, Devante, Jaimesha, and Darmarea; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Pearl Cathey, Detroit, MI; three caring nephews, Ken Costner, Goodells, Joe Cooper, Detroit and Sylvester Brooks, Detroit; several other nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Armstead Diggs, Pastor of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh Street.

Guy Eagle

Guy E. Eagle, 76, of Rio Hondo, Texas, formerly of Grayling and Port Huron, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004.

He served in the United States Navy.

Guy retired from Port Huron Paper and he loved to travel.

He is survived by his loving companion, Ruth Morgan; children, Marcia and Harry Erdman of Port Huron, Linda and Ken Doan of Port Huron, Rick and Ruth Eagle of Marysville, Sherry and John Gorski of Port Huron, Dawn and Don Walsh of Lexington and Paul and Kay Eagle of Port Huron; sister and brother-in-law, June and Bob Hamilton of Port Huron; brother, Orval Eagle of Port Huron; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Deford "Shorty" Eagle; two sisters-in-law, Kate Eagle and Alice Eagle.

Private family services have taken place.

Ella M. Battle

Ella M. Battle, 71, of Detroit died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in her home.

She was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Port Huron to the late James Arthur and Lola Walker Battle. She married James Watts in 1948 in Port Huron. He died in 1959.

Mrs. Battle will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was baptized at an early age in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Port Huron.

She was a graduate of Port Huron High School.

She is survived by three sisters, Helen and Tolitha Battle and Mary Ashford, all of Port Huron; many nieces, and nephews; and friends, including special friends, Will Birden of Detroit and Carriebelle Dixon and Fay Spear, both of Port Huron.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2000, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov., 11, 2000, in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Port Huron. The Rev. John L. Portis will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron.
