Irvin J. "Jim" Eagle

Irvin J. "Jim" Eagle, 59, of Avoca died Sunday, February 4, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness.

He was born March 18, 1941, in Port Huron to the late Cecil and Dorothy Eagle. He married Janet Davison on July 27, 1962, in LaPorte, Indiana.

Mr. Eagle served in the US Army and was a man of many skills. He was a CB radio operator using the handle "Jungle Jim" and enjoyed hunting, fishing and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Janet: a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Florence) Minke of Prot Huron; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin (Tonya) Eagle of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Ranae) Eagle and Jayson Eagle, all of Avoca; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Verna) Eagle and Mr. and Mrs. William (Pat) Eagle, all of Port Huron; four sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Sharon) Dobson, Joann Roskey and fiancé Paul Kelch and Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Kuehl, all of Port Huron, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Peggy) Hodges of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, John.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2001, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard James, Donald VanCamp, Greg VanCamp, Albert Eagle Jr., Paul DeJohn and Robert Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph Kott.

Elizabeth Ann Gamble

Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Gamble, 70 of Port Richy, FL and formerly of Port Huron, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001. She was born to Edward and Ruth Edie on July 16, 1930 in Port Huron, and lived here until moving to Florida in 1983. She was a bus driver for the Port Huron Area School District for 15 years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3702 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Leo A. Gamble, Port Richey, FL; her daughter, Maryann (James) Grenon, Port Huron, their five children, Gordon, Shannan, Jamie, Kevin, and Ryan, and 7 grandchildren, Gordon, Nichole, Samantha, Richard, Brandon, Derick, and Cameron, her son, Robert (Dorothy) Gamble, New Port Richey, FL, their three children, Robert, Scott, and Chris, and one grandchild, Christian, her son, Franklin (Tarry) Radatz, Deckerville, MI and their two children, Dana, and Kurt, her son Charles Radatz, Port Richey, FL and his three children, Brandy and child, Stephanie, and Charles, her daughter, Donna (David) Labor, Coconut Beach, FL, and her three children, David, Dean, and Derk, her son, Steven (Alicia) Radatz, Yale, MI and their 7 children, Steven, Stephanie, Bruce, Mark, and Meliha; (Bobby Jo, and Billy Jo deceased), her daughter, Susan M. (William) Gilbert, Port Huron and their two children, Courtney, and Butch, and her daughter (Betty N. deceased), her brother, Thomas (Patricia) Edie, Port Richey, FL, and her sister, Shirley Combs, Rosebur, Oregon.

Cremation has taken place. A service in Betty's memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2001 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. The Rev. Max Amstutz, Marwood Nursing & Rehab Chaplin, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.

Rosalee Edwards

Mrs. Rosalee Edwards, 57, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 13, 2001.

She was born June 29, 1943 in Port Huron, to the late Abraham and Ruby Lee (Moore) Lincoln. She married Clarence Edwards July 20, 1960 in Port Huron.

Mrs. Edwards was employed at Sportrack Automotive. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, the missionary auxiliary, and was kitchen committee chairperson. She also visited the sick and was a volunteer for the March of Dimes.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; three sons, Clarence Jr., Ronald C. and Mr. and Mrs. Donald B. (Annie) Edwards; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Whitney and Kelsey; three step-grandchildren, Amber, Robert Jr. and Danika; two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Janet (Smity) Smith of Grand Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Lavern (Bonnie) Washington of Port Huron; four brothers, Albert, Raymond, Herbert Eugene and Gregory Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Lossie B. Dowdell of Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Tabola) Edwards of Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Clinnie (Mary) Edwards of Port Huron and Larry Edwards of Alabama; four aunts, Alice Lincoln of Port Huron, Ida Mae Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Erma Willrich of LaGrange, Texas and Veola Stevenson of San Francisco.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Charles and Bobby Lincoln; and two sisters, Gloria Lincoln and Dorothy Handy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 in Mount Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. Ben McClinton will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be Myron Bankston, Leon Edwards, Kevin Smith, Howard Price, Leon Jemison and Henry Brown. Honorary pallbearer will be Dawayne Curetain.

John "Jack" G. Gray

Mr. John "Jack" G. Gray, 87, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Mercy Hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Port Huron to the late John M. and Florence King Gray.

Mr. Gray was the owner and founder of Gray Sign Service, which he operated for 70 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church, Moose Lodge 158, a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 343, and a member and former treasurer of Port Huron Power Squadron. Mr. Gray enjoyed boating, dancing and woodworking.

He is survived by two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Carolyn) Stabenow of North Street and Joan Y Smith of Port Huron and Fred J. Smith of Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Michael J. (Cindy) Smith of Fort Gratiot, Mrs. Tony (Laura) Graham of Port Huron, Mrs. Rick (Carolyn) Alles of New York, Sarah Smith and fiance, Mark Reynolds of Port Huron, Mrs. Robbie (Jeanie) Prenkert of Indiana, Mrs. Jimmy (Joanie) Vani of Clyde Township, Mrs. Mark (Jamie) Reed of Marlette, Rob Stabenow of North Street and Kevin Stabenow of Clare; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Gray and Doris Swackhamer, both of Marysville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his three wives, Gladys, Ernestine and Ada; two sisters, Florence Lockman and Dorothy Denby; and three brothers, Archie, Don and Eugene Gray.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Gary Aupperle of Colonial Woods Missionary Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville.

Raymond Lewis Horn

Mr. Raymond Lewis Horn, 68, of North Street, died in his home Tuesday, January 23, 2000 after a long illness.

He was born May 18, 1932 in Port Huron to the late Raymond A. and Beatrice M. (Whitican) Horn and was a life long area resident. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1949.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Anna Brehl June 20, 1952 in Clyde Township and they enjoyed forty-nine years together.

Mr. Horn was a member of North Street United Methodist Church. He was a dairy farmer for Michigan Milk Producers Association for forty-four years. He worked at Corbin Lumber for many years in the yard and as a deliveryman, and also crop farmed corn, soy, beans and wheat with his sons.

Ray was always there (with a hammer in his hand) to help a friend or neighbor because 'that's just what you did.' He inspired all who knew him to be strong and never give up. We can all learn from his devotion to family and work. We'll try to do you proud, Dad.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur R. (Mary Beth) Horn of Fort Gratiot Township, James L. Horn of Birmingham, Alabama and Mr. & Mrs. Jack W. (Lisa) Horn of North Street; three daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Hugh (Kay) Durham, Jr. of Marion, Illinois, Mr. & Mrs. Rob (Barbara) Crawford of Fort Gratiot Township and Mr. & Mrs. Fred (Lynne) Hall of Kennesaw, Georgia; twenty grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister, Joyce Dresser of North Street; father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. William (Virginia) Brehl of Marble Falls, Texas; step-father-in-law, Daniel Innes of Yale; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane French and Mr. & Mrs. Loren (Janet) Brandl of Lakeport; special friends, Al & Ada Turney; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held from and 2-4 & 7-9 Wednesday and Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2001 in North Street United Methodist Church. The Reverend Fred Neuman will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney cemetery, Clyde Township. Pallbearers will be Mr. Horn's grandsons, Matthew Horn of Ann Arbor, Jason & Dwayne Durham of Marion, Illinois, Travis Hall of Kennesaw, Georgia, Jeremy Crawford of Lexington, and Joseph Crawford of Big Rapids. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Horn of Fort Gratiot and Alan Horn of North Street.

Memorials may be made to North Street United Methodist Church or Blue Water Hospice.

Thomas Jones

Thomas R. Jones, 78, died Monday, July 2, 2007 in his home.

He was born October 17, 1928 in Detroit, MI. He lived in the Port Huron area from 1930 - 1962 and again from Dec. of 1994 to present.

Tom was a 1946 graduate of Port Huron High School. He served in the Naval Air Reserve and saw active duty during the Korean War serving overseas. He was employed 22 years with Mueller Brass Co. and following that he was employed for 31 years with Chrysler Corp. Prior to moving from the area in 1962, he was active in the Schubert Club, St. Stephen's and St. Edward's churches. He was a past member of Elks lodges in Essexville, MI and Van Wert, Ohio. He was a member of various professional societies including SME. Tom worked for Radio Station WHLS doing color commentary for various sporting events and broadcasting midnight Mass at Christmas. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at the holiday season.

He is survived by his sister, Helena R. Cooper of Marysville, MI, brother, Paul James Jones of Florida, and an aunt, Rose Bezenah of St. Clair, MI.

He is also survived by his son, Thomas Lindsay (Amy S.) Jones of Oconomowoc, WI; daughters, Karen Marie Jones of Houston, TX and Jacqueline Anne Ramsey of Bullhead City, AZ; son, Major James Edward (Laura) Jones of Van Wert, OH; grandchildren, Heidi L. Jones, Thomas A. Jones, Shannon K. Jones, Preston M. Ramsey, Ashley P. Jones, Derek J. Jones and Mackenzie N. Jones; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Lynn (Richard) Wyandt.

Cremation has taken place.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday (7/7) at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Inurnment of ashes will follow in the Allied Veterans cemetery Columbarium.

Muriel L. Hudson

Mrs. Muriel Lucille, Hudson, 88, of Fort Gratiot, died January 22, 2001, in Crittenton Hospital, Rochester.

She was born December 26, 1912 in Toronto, Ontario. She married Harry H. Hudson, December 8, 1932 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He died March 27, 1990.

Mrs. Hudson enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved her family.

She is survived by four sons, Mr. & Mrs. Harry James (Shirley) Hudson of Fort Gratiot, Mr. & Mrs, John D. (Donna J.) Hudson of Clarkston, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Robert (Ellen) Hudson of Lake Orion, and Mr. & Mrs. Dean E. (Judy) Hudson of Alpena; ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Hudson.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township.

Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.

Frank Bailey

Franklin L. 'Frank' Bailey Jr., 52 of Goodells, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 in his residence following a battle with cancer. He was born May 5, 1955 in Port Huron and married Marilyn VanNorman on April 19, 1975 in Port Huron. He lived all his life in the Port Huron area.

Frank owned and operated the family business, F.L. Bailey & Sons Well Drilling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and riding his Harley. He was a member of the Port Huron Motorcycle Club and the American Motorcycle Association.

He loved his family and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn J. Bailey; his three sons, Jason (Shauna) Bailey of Goodells, Justin (Melissa) Bailey of Lakeport, and Joshua Bailey of Goodells; a special daughter, Julie (Jim) Kavanaugh of Port Huron; seven grandchildren, Deegan, Seth, Monique, Savannah, Brendan, Jakobie, & Ariana; his mother, Joan Nutt of Port Huron; his father, Frank (Lucy) Bailey Sr. of Marysville; a brother, Brian (Tina) Bailey of Goodells; a sister, Robin (Doro) Ocegura of Port Huron; and several nieces & nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. The Rev. Tracie Loffhagen of All Saints Episcopal Church, Marysville, will officiate. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Contributions may be made in Frank's memory to the Barbara Karmanos Cancer Foundation.

Aharas E. Kresin

Aharas E. Kresin, 92 of Marysville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001 in the Barss Residential Care Home following a long illness. She was born to Fred and Caroline Kresin on October 10, 1908 in Port Huron, graduated from Port Huron High School, Port Huron Jr. College, and University of Michigan.

She taught English, History, and Speech at Marysville High School for 39 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, AAUW, Beta Sigma Phi, Port Huron Musicale, Business & Professional Women, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was also a member of First Congregational Church, the Women's Association of the Church, and was a former Girl Scout leader for many years.

Aharas is survived by her nephew, Mervin (Shirley) Tomlin, her niece, Barbara (Dwayne) Haggerty, both of Marysville; and several grand nieces & grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a service in her memory at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2001 in the All Faiths Chapel of First Congregational Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert E. Starkey, Senior Pastor of First Congregational Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon in the Church's Fireside Room.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to First Congregational Church or the Michigan Waterways Council of Girl Scouts. Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary C. Chaffee Jahn

Mrs. Mary Catherine Chaffee Jahn, 84, of Port Huron died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Mercy Hospital after a long illness.

She was born March 6, 1916, in York, N.D:, to the late William and Jessie (Winters) O'Connell. She married Walter E. Chaffee on June 6, 1938 in Elkhart, Ind. He died March 19, 1962. She married Carl Jahn on Aug. 15, 1966 in Port Huron. He died Oct. 19, 1987

Mrs. Jahn was a tailor for various clothing stores in the area.

She is survived by a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Rosemary) Coker of Croswell; two sons, Larry Chaffee of Burtchville and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel (Judith) Chaffee of Macomb Township; a, stepdaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz (Beverly) Griffin of Goshen, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grand- children; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Dunham of North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Barbara Crosslin.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Mrs. Jahn will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of -the Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Rene Desmarais will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott, Jeff, Dennis and Todd Coker, Timothy, Brian, Shawn, Randall and Craig Chaffee and Kenneth Griffin.

Larry Floyd LaBeau

Larry Floyd LaBeau, 58, passed away in his sleep Monday night at his home in Jeddo. Larry was born October 2, 1942 in Monroe to Velma and Floyd LaBeau.

He graduated from Monroe High School in 1960. He received a Degree in the Sciences from Adrian College, and a Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Larry taught Math and Science at Kimball, Washington and Central Intermediate Schools. Larry had many fond memories of the teachers and students he worked with during his long career. He will be sadly missed not only by his family, but by his many friends and their visits to the farm,

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Catherine LaBeau; his son and daughter-in law, Michael Steven and Sarahjane LaBeau; his parents, Velma and Floyd LaBeau; his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Clare LaBeau, He has many nieces and nephews, along with their children, who will lovingly miss their "Uncle Larry".

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9pm, Thursday and from 1 lam until I pm, Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:30pm, Friday in St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, Pastor will officiate. A prayer service will be held in St. Charles Church, Newport Michigan at 10am, Saturday with burial to follow in St. Charles cemetery.

Pallbearers will be. Michael LaBeau, Charlie Winters, Hugh McMorran, Dave Masserant, Kenny May and Wayne Lancaster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald LaBeau, Ron LaBeau, Kevin LaBeau and Dean Cunningham.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church.
