George Hand

George A. Hand, 59, of Jacksonville, Florida, died on Thursday, October 13, 2005 in Jacksonville.

He was born on September 3, 1946 in Algonac and lived in the Port Huron area until moving to Florida in 1993.

George was employed by Vlassic Foods in Memphis and Imlay City for nearly 30 years.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronald (Kelly) Hand of Clyde Twp., William (Stephanie Rich) Hand of Marysville and Michael (Dawn O'Connor) Hand of Port Huron; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Brayden and Gabrielle Hand; a brother, Allen Avery; two sisters, Ruby (Dave) Taylor of New Baltimore and Ellen (Bruce) Churchill of Port Huron; nieces and nephews; and several friends including two special friends for over 40 years, David Flanagan of Smiths Creek and Pat Scahill of Jacksonville, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Madeline Hand.

A memorial visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005 in Smith Family Funeral HomeNorth, 1525 Hancock St. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery at a later time.

Justin Evans

Justin Lee Christopher Austin Evans, 17, of Kimball Township passed away, Saturday, April 14, 2001.

He was born in Port Huron on Feb. 9, 1984, and was an 11th grade student at Marysville High School. He had been a Cub Scout and was a former member of Boy Scout Troop 176.

Justin was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and the Blue Water Sportsman Association where he excelled at sharp shooting with a .22 rifle He particularly enjoyed hockey, airplanes, football, snowmobiling and watercraft.

He is survived by his parents, Lynda (Mark) Evans-Powers of Kimball Township. and Robert (Beverly) Evans of Kimball Township.; his grandparents, Marion Evans of Port Huron Township, Juanita Nutt of Port Huron, Robert Rodriguez of Port Huron and Helen Powers of Memphis; six brothers and sisters, Mark A. (Jennifer) Powers of Port Huron Township, Todd (Renne) Powers of Marysville, Angela Power of Mission Viejo, Calif, Antonette (Robert) Ross of New Mexico, Leonard Alcomo of Fort Gratiot Township and Marie Alcomo of Kimball Township; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arleen and Robert Evans.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Thursday, April 19, 2001, in St. Stephen Catholic Church The Rev. David Lesniak, pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, and Wednesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. On Thursday, visitation will begin at 9 a.m in the church.

Pallbearers will be Justin Sears, Joe Pung, Dustin Henderson, Chris Cooley, Leonard Alcomo and Corey Egan.

Memorial contributions may be made in Justin's memory to the charity of the donor's choice

David J. Frentenbrough

Mr. David J. Frentenbrough, 38, of Kimball Township, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001.

He was born June 28, 1962 in Port Huron to William and Barbara (Halliday) Fretenborough.

Mr. Fretenborough is survived by his mother, Barbara Fretenborough; three brothers, Mr. & Mrs. William (Patty) Fretenborough, Mr. & Mrs. Robert (Audra) Fretenborough and Charles Fretenborough; a sister, Patricia Fretenborough; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Fretenborough.

Private services will be held.

Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Jack Brown

Jack Brown Jr., 74, of Port Huron, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 in his home after a long illness.

He was born July 28, 1929 in Yale and lived here for the past 15 years.

He married Rosemarie Ficht on Sept. 20, 1952 in North Branch.

Jack was a 20 year employee of General Motors and worked for ten years with Riverside International in Port Huron. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member and usher of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting. But most of all Jack loved his family more than anything.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Brown of Port Huron; his son, Ronald J. (Jan) Brown of Swartz Creek; his daughter, Sharon B. (Keith) Szajnecki of Petoskey; his son, Thomas G. (Heidi) Brown of Fenton; his daughters, Christine M. (Dave) Rushton of Springfield, MO and Mary F. (Morris) Ellis of Waukegan, IL; his grandchildren, Aimee and Brianna Brown, Hillary and Justin Szajnecki, Ryan, Hayden, Meredith and Madelynn Brown, Rachel and Christopher Rushton, Brittny and Branden Ellis; four brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven A. Brown; his parents, John and Ada Brown; and his brother, Howard Brown.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, Pastor, will officiate.

Visiting hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A scripture service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul or Blue Water Hospice.

Calvin M. Anglebrandt

Calvin M. Anglebrandt, 75, of Port Huron died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Marwood Nursing and Rehab.

He was born Sept.19, 1925, in Port Huron. He married Wilda Matts on Oct. 27, 1947, in Port Huron. She died March 17, 1999.

Mr. Anglebrandt worked at Grand Trunk Western Railroad for more than, 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of May O'Brien VFW Post 9465. He also was a member of the Good Sam Traveling Club. He is survived by three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick (Cindy) Anglebrandt and Mr. and Mrs. EJ (Cheryl) Anglebrandt, all of Port Huron, and Calvin Anglebrandt Jr. of Indiana; four-daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Rick (Gloria) Acre of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben (Mary) Nugent of Kimball Township, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Val) Duffin of Avoca and Nancy Harrington of Port Huron; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winona Scott of Port Huron.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Kenneth.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Max W Amstutz will officiate.

Military honors will be under the auspices of the St, Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Richard Campbell

Richard L. "Dick" Campbell, age 66, of Goodells, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003 in Mercy Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 22, 1937 in Warren and has lived in Goodells since 1956.

He married Betty Hanneke on June 18, 1966 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett.

Dick worked as a Rural Carrier in Goodells for 30 years, and was past secretary/treasurer for the Rural Letter Carrier's Association. He delivered flowers for Ruff Floral Company. He also volunteered his time with 4H, as a Fair Board Member, a club advisor, and past council member.

Dick also volunteered for Goodwill Industries, receiving the Sharon Bryant Goodwill worker of the year award in 1994. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; was a past member of the St. Clair Co. Kennel Club; and served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Campbell of Goodells; two daughters, Theresa (Mike) Millsap of Kimball and Brenda (Keith) Ski of Goodells; two grandsons, Michael Millsap of Kimball and Travis Ski of Goodells; two granddaughters, Kendra and Meghan Ski, both of Goodells; a sister, Sharon (Richard) Betts of Port Huron; three brothers, Tony Campbell of Sterling Heights, Gerald (Chris) Campbell of Tennessee and Lawrence Campbell of Maryland; brother-in-law, Sonny Kaltz of Lake Orion; brother-in-law, Jim Bush of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Shirley Campbell of Macomb Twp.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Nancy Maplethorpe of Avoca; an uncle, Norman (Audrey) Campbell; four aunts, Helen Nehrenberg, Rita Purdon, Delores Ennes and Alice Wiegand; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, F.A. and Zita Campbell; two sisters, Joanne Kaltz and Patricia Bush; a brother, Edmund Campbell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maynard and Verna Hanneke.

The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Fr. Rene Desmarais officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike and Michael Millsap, Keith Ski, Dan Greenia, Jeff Morris and Bill Maplethorpe. The honorary pallbearer will be Travis Ski.

Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 10 a.m. There will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Paul C. Beacher

Paul C. Beacher, 81, of Fort Gratiot Township died Wednesday, in Port Huron March 28, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1919, Shenandoah, Pa., to the late Arthur C and Lottie Wagner Beacher. . He married Anna Mae Evans, on Dec. 26, 1942, in Mahanoy City, Pa. Mr. Beacher was purchasing manager for TRW for 20 years and 10 years for Koppers, retiring in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the National Guard as a colonel.

He is survived by his wife, and Anna; two daughters Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Schwalm of Fort Gratiot and Mr. and Mrs. Justin (Carol) Smith of Gardiner, Maine; four grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Rebecca Smith and Hannah and Sarah Schwalm; a great-granddaughter, Olina Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Colonial Woods Missionary Church with funeral services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gary Aupperle will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery; Port Huron.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are by the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron.

Evelyn G. Brougham

Evelyn G. Brougham, 86, of Marysville died Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born April 23, 1914, in Lake Linden to the late Everett and Agnes Marie Smith.

Mrs. Brougham was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose Chapter 99 and the International Shipmasters Association Auxiliary.

She is survived by four children, JoAnne Lee of Warren, Clyde (Verna) Noble of Bixby, Okla., and Connie (Cliff) Hanel and Rose (Douglas) Norton, both of Port Huron; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Glen Brougham, Irwin Heythaler and Eugene Noble; and four children, Lambert, Larry and Sidney Noble, and Gloria Sturgeon Hyde.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Marysville. The Rev. Bill Bendert will officiate.

Burial will be in Havertown cemetery, Marysville.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne, Scott and Patrick Chrivia, Chris James, Bill Cowger and Wayne Lee.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Girl Scouts.

Guy Thompson

Guy K. Thompson, age 46, of Port Huron died Thursday, October 13, 2005 in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness.

He was born to the late Don and Phyllis Thompson on January 29, 1959 in Port Huron and was a life long resident.

Guy worked for many years as a machinist. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3702.

He is survived by his brother, Rodney (Peggy) Thompson of Port Huron; three nieces, Debbie (Jim) Robertson of Anchorage, Alaska, Dawn (Joe) Henry of Port Huron, and Jeannine (Joe) Lambson of Sandusky; one nephew, Chris (Sue) Ristau of Harrison, Michigan; and several greatnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Herbert "Tiny" Thompson.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday (10/18) at the Eagles Lodge on Water Street.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
