George Bolar Sr.

George Bolar Sr., 72 of Port Huron, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Newport News, Virginia.

He was born November 20, 1928, in Mobile, Ala. to the late Douglas and Alice (Clayton) Bolar. He married Louise Benning on March 25, 1960, in Port Huron. She died May 18, 1999.

Mr. Bolar was employed with New Haven Foundry and the Harrington Inn prior to his retirement. He enjoyed going to the racetrack, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn his passing, five children, Craig and Carol Bolar, Charles and Becky Bolar, George Bolar Jr., Mark Bolar and Neasy Bolar; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Arthur, Melvin and Charles Bolar; two sisters, Emma Lee Williams and Joyce Perdue; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Visiting will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Pollock- Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Reid Willey of Metropolitan Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

John Branden

John Braden, 88, of Port Huron, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2001.

He was born April 27, 1913, in Battle Creek to the late Cecil and Emma Braden.

He is survived by a brother, John Braden of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Battle Creek.

Dennis M. Brown

Dennis M. Brown, 57, of Port Huron died October 7, 2001, in Myrtle Beach S.C., while vacationing with his wife and friends.

He was born October 26, 1943, in Detroit to the Late Bernard F. and Irene E. Brown of Port Huron. He married Judith R. Tingley-Ellis on November 6, 1976, in Port Huron.

Dennis graduated in 1962 from St. Stephen High School. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1960 and served aboard the USS Eaton DD 510. He participated in the Cuban blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also served in the Mediterranean Sea and was honorably discharged in 1966. Dennis joined the former Dunn Paper Co. in 1966, where he worked as an electrician and an instrument repairman until he took a disability retirement in January 2000 from the then Crown Vantage Paper Co. He was employed there for 34 years. Dennis enjoyed bowling and was an avid boater, taking several trips on the Great Lakes with his family and close friends. He was a former president of Local No. 1017 UPIU and held many other positions. He was a long time member of Blue Water Aeire No. 3702.

He is survived by his wife, Judith R. Brown, Port Huron; son, Dennis D. Brown, Port Huron; son, Robert J. Brown, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Jennifer A. (David) Hunt, Port Huron; son, Stephen A. (Regina) Ellis, Shelby Township; son, Joseph R. Ellis, Port Huron; daughter, Lynn M. (Tom Cook) Ellis, Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren; brother, John T. (Marilyn) Brown, Port Huron; brother, Gordon D. (Helen) Brown, Port Huron; several cousins, nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Raymond A. Tingley; and close and dear friend, Al and Julie Greenia, Kimball Township.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl J. Brown, on May 8, 1991. Dennis was loved by many and will be truly missed by his family and many close friends.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. David J. Lesniak, pastor of St. Stephen Church, will officiate.

Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A Rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m.

Military services will be under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of the donor's choice.

Janice D. Collier

Janice D. Collier, 55, of Kimball died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in Faith Medical Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mary K. Ackerman

Mary K. Ackerman, 52, of Port Huron, died, Monday, November 19, 2001.

She was born December 27, 1948 in Brown City to Lavern and Viola Ackerman.

Miss Ackerman enjoyed shopping, watching television and doing word puzzles.

She is survived by her mother, Viola; six sisters, Gloria (Douglas) Parmann of Kimball, Sharon (Al) Smith, Delores Pierce, Viola (Ed) Bailey, Karen (Robert) Farquhar, and Debbie (Michael) Albert all of Port Huron; a brother, Gary Ackerman of Pennsylvania; an aunt, Mildred Carmichael and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Krafft and a sister, Barbara Eves.

Visitation will be 3-5 & 7-9 PM Tuesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Daniel T. Stewart of Griswold Street Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Bailey Jr., Michael Bailey, James Pierce, Ron Smith, George Smith, Eric Albert.

Mr. & Mrs. Emerson E. Cove

Emerson E. Cove, 86, of Wales Township, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 in his home of natural causes. His wife, Alta L. Knapp Rollins Cove, 79, also died at home the following day, November 11, 2001 after an extended illness.

Mr. Cove was born April 28, 1915 in Wales Township to the late Samuel and Leota Estella (Baldwin) Cove. He married Henrietta M. Maas, June 15, 1941. She died June 7, 1986.

Alta L. Knapp Rollins Cove was born November 10, 1921 in Petoskey to the late John and Bertha (Ketoskey) Knapp. She married Arthur M. Rollins on February 26, 1943 in Soda Springs, Idaho. He died March 12, 1985.

Emerson and Alta were married on April 10, 1988 in Boyne City.

Mr. Cove was a farmer and an active member of the Blue Water Seventh Day Adventist Church.

They are survived by his daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Paul (Rhoda) Layman of Berrien Springs; her daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Lawrence of Berkshire, Massachusetts; his grandson, Benjamin; her two grandsons, Orion & Frank Lawrence; his sister, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd (Fern) Pelton of Berrien Springs; his nephew, Robert Pelton; her three brothers, Earl Knapp of Rogers City, Harry Knapp of Boyne City and Russell Knapp of Grand Haven; her two sisters, Ora Baker of Rogers City and Mary Hutchinson of Boyne City; and her many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cove was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary.

Visitation for Mr. & Mrs. Cove will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held jointly at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2001 in Blue Water Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1365 Sixth Street, Marysville. Pastor Barry DeWitt will officiate.

Mr. Cove will be buried in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Wales Township. Mrs. Cove will be buried in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Wales Township.

Florin B. Anderson

Florin B. "Bud" Anderson, 79, of Kimball Township died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, in his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Port Huron to the late Charles and Mary Spencer Anderson.

He married Marie D. Allen on June 18, 1977, in Port Huron.

He retired in 1985 from Mueller Brass Co. after 23 years of service.

He was a member of American Legion Charles Hammond Post 8, Eagles F.O.E. 3702 Charles Schoor VFW Post 796, Moose Lodge 158 and Sun Parlor of Canada Moose Legion 95.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Edward Weichsler of Port Huron and David Weichsler of Virginia; a daughter, Maryiln Weichsler of Washington; four stepdaughters, Patricia Farquhar and Mary Kay Allen, both of Kimball Township, Mr. and Mrs, Louis (Linda) Brewster of California and Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Diane) Burgoss of Port Huron; a stepson, Donald C. Allen of Florida; six grandchildren, including two special granddaughters, Ashley Allen and Jessica Jewett; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Joyce) Sheffer of Port Huron; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Anderson and June Anderson, both of Port Huron, and Sandy Anderson of Florida; a special friend, Don French; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Donald and Dick.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. The Rev. Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Walter H. Adamski

Walter H. Adamski, 83, of Marysville died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Mercy Hospital.

He was born April 24, 1918, in Detroit to the late Blake and Sophie (Kleczynski) Adamski. He married Beatrice Kobe on Sept. 26, 1953, in Hamtramck.

Mr. Adamski retired as the director of income tax for the city of Hamtramck. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville American Legion Post 449, St. Clair Art Association, Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 6, Port Huron Museum and Marysville Board of Review. Mr. Adamski also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; a nephew, Martin Adamski of Lapeer; and a sister-in-law, Gail Kobe.

Visiting will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Marysville Funeral Home.

Mr. Adamski will lie in state at St. Christopher Catholic Church Thursday morning, Dec. 13, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. until time of the funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the St. Christopher Catholic Church or Marysville American Legion Post 449.

Beverly A. Crumbie

Beverly A. Crumbie, 47, of Detroit passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in Detroit.

She was born to Eubren and Vergie Crumbie on June 15, 1954, in Detroit.

She owned and operated her own exterminating business in Detroit. She was also a great seamstress.

She is survived by her son, Ray Crumbie of Detroit; two grandchildren, Ray Burris Crumbie and Nautica Sharay Crumbie, both of Detroit; her sister, Beatrice Luna of Port Huron; five nieces and nephews, Kim Thomas of Denver, Alejo Luna of Milwaukee, Miguel Luna of Port Huron, Nikki Wilson of Milwaukee, and Mikole Luna of Fort Bragg, N.C.; nine great-nieces and great-nephews including a special great-niece, Deborah Hytower; and her aunt, Gaston Anthony of Detroit.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. Pastor John I. Tate Sr. of Zion Tabernacle Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Virgil J. Bachman

Virgil J. Bachman, 86, of Port Huron entered into rest on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in Lake Orion Skilled Nursing Facility, Lake Orion, from natural causes.

Virgil was born April 8, 1915, in Sturgis, MI. He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1933. He graduated in 1936 from Michigan Business and Argubright Normal College, Battle Creek.

Virgil married Elizabeth "Betty" Cummings on June 22, 1941, in Battle Creek. She passed away on Feb. 21, 1995. He served four years in World War II in the European Theater of Operations from Normandy Beaches to Berlin. He served in the 7th Armored Division, Hq. 6th Army Group, and United States Group Control Council in Berlin as Chief Warrant Officer.

He moved with his family to Port Huron in 1948. He served as vice president-secretary of the Credit Bureau of Port Huron from 1948 until his retirement in 1977. He was past president of the Associated Credit Bureau of Michigan, past president of the Port Huron Noon Optimist Club, past secretary of the Board of Trustees of Port Huron Hospital and a life member of the Port Huron Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, and served as President of the congregation, Sunday School Superintendent, Financial Secretary, Trustee, and in numerous other capacities.

He is survived by his son, Mr. and Mrs. J. Thomas (Maxine) Bachman; and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Leon (Bonnie) Baker of Samaria, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Moss of Metamora; five granddaughters, Mr. and Mrs. Todd (Gaye) Wolschlager, Lisa M. Bachman, Mr. and Mrs. Brent (Michele) Turvey, Mr. and Mrs. Chris (Kimberly) Fargo and Kari A. Moss; two grandsons, David T. Bachman and Todd R. Moss; three great-grandsons, Dakota and Tyler Fargo and Saxton Turvey; one great-granddaughter, Haley Ross; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Longman and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cummings, all of Battle Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Family Funeral Home, North, 1525 Hancock St., and at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1029 Sixth St., Port Huron with The Rev. Donald R. Doerzbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David T. Bachman, Gerald Ruff, Fred Bachman, Ed Longman, Steve Longman and Jim Cummings. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Moss, Herm Radatz, Tom Cummings and The Hon. Ernest Oppliger. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
