Willie George Bankston

Willie George Bankston, 79, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

He was born August 2, 1922 in Milner, Georgia to the late George and Alberta Bankston. He married Susie Lee Horton who preceded him in death in January of 1971.

Mr. Bankston was a member of All Nations Church of God in Christ. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

He leaves to mourn his passing, four children, Cynthia, Willie, Archie and Roger Bankston all of Port Huron; seven grandchildren, Terrell, Billy, Marcus, Jerome, Samson, Romika and Armone; one great grandchild; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Sally) Bankston of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. John (Morris) Bankston of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family hour will be from 7-9 PM on Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be a t 11:00 AM Monday in All Nations Church of God in Christ. Elder Vincent Matthews Sr., will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Albert Jr., Archie, Terrell and Roger Bankston, Robert Moses, David Nichols and David Curry.

Joseph V. Burgos

Joseph V. Burgos, 68, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001.

He was born April 4, 1933, in Port Huron to the late Isodoro and Stephenie (Villegas) Burgos and was a life long area resident. He married Beverly Ruth Diem on Feb. 19, 1960, in Port Huron. She died Oct. 11, 1992.

Mr. Burgos was employed with Mueller Brass Company for more than 25 years. He enjoyed golf, baseball and bowling. He was a loving man who will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy (Nancy) Bauer and Mr. and Mrs. William (Deborah) Milne, all of Port St. Lucie, FL and Mr. and Mrs. Darryl (Cheryl Lyn) Waller of St. Peters, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Jessie Burgos, Raymond Burgos and Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Diane) Burgos; three sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus (Theresa) Castillo, Josie Villasenor and Elisa Agqinaga; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Jack and Joan Reynolds.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Dr. Richard D. Lobb will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery, Port Huron Twp.

Geraldine Campbell

Mrs. Geraldine Spencer Trudell Campbell, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Marysville, died Saturday, November 3, 2001.

She was born October 28, 1919 in Grand Fork, British Columbia, Canada to the late Noel and Maude (Harrigan) Kelsey. She married , Stewart J. Trudell on August 15, 1945 in Columbus Ohio. He died in October 27, 1984. She married Lawrence Campbell on July 2, 1988 in Port Huron.

Mrs. Campbell enjoyed volunteering, bowling and playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ted (Mary) Baker of Marysville and Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Lynn) Trudell of Detroit; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Delores) Fodor of Corunna, Ontario; a step-daughter, Gloria Jean Campbell of Port Huron; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Ted Kelsey of Lincoln Park and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Marie Trudell and a sister, Olive Keskitals.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Reverend David Lesniak of St. Stephen Catholic Church will officiate.

William D. Cleland Jr. M.D.

William D. Cleland Jr., M.D., 83, of Port Huron died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1918, in New Wilmington, Pa., to the late Dr. William D. and Mary Long Cleland Sr.

He married Martha Jean Hart on June 24, 1944, in Washington, Pa..

Dr. Cleland graduated from Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps serving in Okinawa during World War II.

In January 1948, he began a residency at Children's Hospital in Detroit, where he met Dr. Anthony Gholz and Dr. John Coury. In 1950, Dr. Cleland and Dr. Gholz opened their pediatric medical practice in Port Huron, where they continued to work together until 1991, when Dr. Gholz retired.

Dr. Cleland continued practicing with Children's Health Care Center until 1994 and then helped out at the Teen Health Center until April of this year.

He was a past president of the St. Clair County Medical Society; a former chief of staff and chief of pediatrics at Port Huron Hospital; a longtime board member of the Blue Water Mental Health Clinic; a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church; and a member of Port Huron Golf Club.

In 2000, Dr. Cleland received the Father Hogan Humanitarian Award for his longtime involvement in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; four daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. John (Ann) Murphy of Fort Gratiot, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Judy) Maiden of Boring, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Duff (Susie) Maiden of Portland, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Patty) Rose of Farmington, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Knecht of New Castle, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Hart of Washington, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Jim Coleman and Miss Jane Coleman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cleland; a sister, Mary Louise Ekles; and a granddaughter, Amber C. Maiden.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Mark P. Thomas will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Todd and Brian Murphy, David Rose, Dr. Anthony Gholz, Dr. John Coury and Dr. Robert Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Rowe, Dr. William Dinnen and Dr. Anil Patel.

Marion E. Cope

Marion Elaine Cope, 72, of Port Huron died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born July 1, 1929, in Port Huron to the late Russell and Florence Jex Toner.

She married John "Bob" Cope May 29, 1952, in Port Huron.

Mrs. Cope was a teacher in the Port Huron Area School District.

She was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church.

She loved her grandkids and loved to read.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Douglas Cope of Providence, R.I.; three daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Marge) Fagan of Avoca, Mr. and Mrs. Tim (Melissa) Zantello of Otsego and Marikay Drake of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Katie and Tyler Drake, Brian Fagan and Nicky Zantello; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Ruth) Toner of Mount Clemens; two sisters, Norma Walker of Sarasota, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Judy) Ginter of Odessa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Vance Dale.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Johnson of Hillside Wesleyan Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron.

Cora L. Floyd

Cora L. Floyd, 72, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001.

She was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Sarasota, Fla., to the late Edward and Julia Abrams Wilcox.

She married Isiah M. Floyd on Dec. 28, 1978, in Aiken, S.C. He died Feb. 5, 1979.

Mrs. Floyd was a licensed practical nurse at Marwood Nursing and Rehab and Port Huron Hospital. She also was employed at Mueller Brass Co.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, George Mosley Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard (Jean) Mosley, all of Sarasota, Fla., and Beryl Mosley and Christopher Floyd of Port Huron; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Wilcox of Fort Myers, Fla., and John Wilcox of Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Mr. and Mrs. William (Willie Mae) Howard of Augusta, Ga., and Eva Hudson and Cynthia Wilcox, both of Sarasota, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Jr., Joseph, Henry and Bernie Wilcox; and five sisters, Maxine Richardson, Rosa Wilcox, Pearl Lewis, Gladys Robinson and Bernice Thompkins.

Mrs. Floyd will lie in state at Interfaith Community Church from 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, until time of the funeral service at noon. The Rev. Link Howard III will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery, Port Huron.

Pallbearers will be George Mosley Jr., Renard Mosley, Christopher Floyd, Dameon Cole, Wesley Thomas and Edward Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Bailey, Dwayne Kidd and Perez Dixon.

Edward H. French

Edward H. French, 77, of Port Huron died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001.

He was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Croswell, the son of the late Leonard and Gertrude French.

He married Maxine I. Yeates on Oct. 13, 1945, in Port Huron.

Mr. French served in the U.S. Army.

He worked at Yeager Bridge Co. for 18 years and was a self-employed welder.

He was a life member of May O'Brien VFW Post, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maxine, of Port Huron; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Mary French of Warren and Dewain and Clarice French of Jeddo; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Jess Rosales of Port Huron; his grandchildren, Tim and Renee French of Port Huron, David and Bylinda French of Kalamazoo, Sheri and Dave McKenzie of Jeddo, Paul and Christy Rosales of Port Huron, Lynne and Dan Wilkins of Tucson, Ariz., Amy and Jermey Delancey of Olive Branch, Miss., and Debbie and Ron Convery and Dwight French, all of Warren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his brothers, Eldon (Kathleen) French of Smiths Creek, Donald D. French (Helen Meyers) of Smiths Creek, and Bob French of Santa Ana, Calif.; and a sister, Delma Ward of St. Clair.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen S. French.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street. Chaplain John Totten of the Disabled American Veterans will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jowett Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dwight French Sr., Dwight French Jr., Dewain French, David French, Jess Rosales and Paul Rosales. Honorary pallbearer will be Lynne Rosales.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robert J. Green

Robert J. "Bobby" Green, 67, of Humble, Texas, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001.

He was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Port Huron to Robert and Anna Green. He lived in the Port Huron area until 1983.

He spent his early years as a jack-of-all-trades working various jobs, but was a truck driver most of his life in Port Huron and Texas. He enjoyed bargain hunting and worked part time at Hamm's Resale Shop and Ministries in Humble, Texas. He was an usher at Soul's Harbor Church.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Humble, Texas; one son, Robert (Violet) Green Jr. of Port Huron; six daughters, Tanya (Gail) Ellick and Julie (Rodger) Capps, both of Port Huron, Stacey (Matt) Lasley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susan (Mike) Prey of Conroe, Texas, and Andrea and Anna Green of Humble, Texas; 16 grandchildren; mother, Anna Westlake of Port Huron; three brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Green, Richard Green and Ronald (Carol) Green, all of Port Huron; three sisters, Patricia Holstein of Deland, Fla.., Tanya Green of Lupton, and Nancy (David) Ceasor of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Odie Green, and brother, Edward Green.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at the Ruby Lions Hall in Ruby. The Rev. Don Sperling will officiate.

Grace K. Goulette

Grace K. Goulette, 76, of Clyde Township, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, left us for her heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. We mourn the loss of a very special person in our lives and will miss her always.

She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Goodells to the late Maynard S. and Vina (Lindsay) Quinn. She married Harry W. Goulette, April 24, 1943, in Fort Bliss, Texas.

Mrs. Goulette owned and operated a foster care home for 27 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She loved going to auctions and antique sales.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Pat (Gail) McIntyre of Ruby and Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Brenda) Wacker of Kimball; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Cindy) Goulette of Kimball and Gary Goulette of Port Huron; nine grandchildren, Robert and Raymond LaTurno, Michael Goulette, Malissa Valpatic, Amanda and Andrew Goulette, Barry and Erin Peters and Megan Wacker; six great-grandchildren, Robert Jr., Tiffany, Kelly and Colton LaTurno and Devin and Emily Valpatic; a sister-in-law, Joyce Black; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ina Howe.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Quinn.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goulette will lie in state from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett. The Rev. Jasper Sirianni will officiate.

The rite of committal will follow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery, Emmett. Pallbearers will be Gary, Michael and Andrew Goulette, Bob, Raymond and Robert LaTurno Jr. and Barry Peters.
