Genevieve F. Martin
Genevieve F. Martin, 90, of Port Huron died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in Evangelical Home following a short illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Harbor Beach, the daughter of the late Florence and William Fritzsche, and was a lifelong resident of Port Huron. She married
Abraham Martin on Oct. 27, 1945, in Goodells. He died Nov. 20, 1985.
Mrs. Martin moved to White Rock where she attended the White Rock Country School. She then went to the city to work. She was a former employee of the Fead Knitting Mill. She attended the Salvation Army and was a member of the Golden Agers. She loved to garden, cook and bake and visit with family and friends.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen (Elmer) Reiche of Minden City; her sister-in-law, Esther Fritzsche of Eastpointe; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Fritzsche.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. Capt. Robert Webster, corp officer of the Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Jowett Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the St. Clair County Council on Aging.
Theodore Zeller
Theodore C. Zeller, age 68, of Fort Gratiot, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 02, 2007 in his home. He was born October 5, 1938 in Port Huron and was a lifelong area resident.
For 20 years he worked at Lakeside Enterprises.
He is survived by his six children, Brett A. Zeller of Ludington, Bruce A. Zeller of Fort Gratiot, Brenda (Jim) Studt of Sparta, Bonnie Zeller of Ludington, Michelle (Bob) Klaas of Fort Gratiot, and Bill Zeller of Melvin; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elaine Stocks of Port Huron, and Eleanor Bassett of Marine City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Etta Mae Irwin and Thomas Irwin, and Charles Zeller.
A funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday (10/7) in the Smith Family Funeral Home South, 1230 7th Street with the Rev. Donald Doerzbacher officiating. Burial will take place at Kinney cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday (10/6) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Center for Family Literacy.
Mabel E. Moeller
Mabel E. Moeller, 87, of Port Huron went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001.
She was born April 17, 1914, in Harbor Beach to the late Whitlow and Margaret O'Neil Reid.
She married
Frank C. Moeller on Feb. 4, 1933, in Port Hope. He died March 5, 1996.
Mrs. Moeller was a member of Ross Bible Church and was very involved with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Moeller is survived by five sons, Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. (Jean) Moeller of Algonquin, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ronald (Norma) Moeller of Clyde Township, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Sylvia) Moeller of Burtchville Township, Mr. and Mrs. Brian (Diane) Moeller of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald W. (Ann) Moeller of Fort Gratiot; one daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene (Evelyn) Blythe of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Faye) Reid of Norfolk, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Margaret) Reid of White Rock; a sister, Jean Terbrack, and a sister-in-law, Peggy Reid, both of Harbor Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Frank M. Moeller and Gary Blythe; a great-grandson, Sean Barrett; and a brother, James Reid.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Ross Bible Church. The Rev. Nike Newman will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kurt, Randy, Larry John Jr., Scott C., B. Nicholas, Matthew, Craig and Michael Moeller. Honorary pallbearers will her granddaughters, Vicki E. Schupp, Cheryl Hoff, Debra Anne Lindsay, Linda Sue McCarthy, Brenda Sisitsky, Jennifer DeJesus, Rebecca Boyle and Janet, Katie Mae, and Alissa Lynn Moeller.

Mildren G. Panzenhagen
Mildred G. Panzenhagen, 97, of Port Huron, died Nov. 25, 2001, in Marwood Nursing and Rehab.
She was born July 9, 1904, in Flynn Township and married
Alfred Panzenhagen. He died June 29, 1951.
Mildred taught school for more than 60 years in the Port Huron School District mostly at Roosevelt School. She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church for about 70 years. Mildred also was a life member of the Port Huron Musicale, Galilee Shrine 7, White Shrine of Jerusalem and O.E.S. 170. Mildred was well known for baking cookies for everyone she knew.
She is survived by nephews, Robert Hoffman of Marysville and Richard Hoffman of Naples, Fla.; niece, Nancy Weil of Canton; nephew, Jim Tuer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; niece, Carol Touzalin of Denver; cousins, Hazel Mahaffy of Peck, Norma Jean Seley of Marlette and Lloyd Duckworth of Peck.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Hoffman; twin brother, Milt Tuer; and brother, Morris "Bud" Tuer.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Martin Lutheran Church. The Rev. Phyllis I. Horman will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visiting hours are 10:15 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the church.

Marjorie L. Owens
Mrs. Marjorie L. "Marge" Owens, 75, of Smiths Creek died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Port Huron Hospital.
She was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Washington, D.C., to the late Emory Beachley and Lois Hall Long. She was a lifelong resident in Smiths Creek.
She married
Glenn E. Owens on Dec. 11, 1948, in Edmonton, Alberta.
She was a member of Kimball Community Circle for 50 years, Smiths Creek American Legion Auxilary, Daughters of the American Revolution-Ottawa Chapter, Port Huron First Free Methodist Church, Kimball Township cemetery Board and St. Clair County Family History Group.
She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and scorekeeper for Kimball Township baseball and softball, Port Huron High School baseball and softball.
She was a Red Wing fan and loved genealogy. She devoted many hours to indexing newspapers of St. Clair County from 1850 to present.
She also loved to work with young people.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; sons, Timothy (Yvonne) Owens, James (Kathy) Owens of Port Huron, Paul (Beverly) Owens of Richmond and Richard Owens of Elkhart, Ind.; daughter, Carole Owens of Smiths Creek; grandchildren, Taunya Owens, Wade Owens, Amy Owens, Kelly Owens, Rachel (Scott) Campbell, Becky Owens, Dannielle Lambert, Lance Pullen, and Suzzanne Fortin; four great-grandchildren, Conner Campbell, Jacob Lambert, Alane Pullen, and Destinee Pullen; brother-in-law, Harold (Violet) Owens of Goodells; sister-in-law, Anne Long of Edmonton, Alberta; sister-in-law, Mildred Long of Carol Stream, Ill.; and brother-in-law, Orlin Taylor of Pincher Creek, Alberta.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Free Methodist Church, 2403 10th Ave. The Rev. Elden Lee, pastor First Free Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Owens, Wade Owens, Pat Owens, Jake Wojciechowski, Tom Wagar and Warren Gross. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Owens, Randy Owens, Chuck Long, Bill Baker, Dwight Moore and Dannielle Lambert.
Visitaton will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave., at 17th Street, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church.

Carolyn "Joann" Arnold
Carolyn "Joann" Arnold, 70, of Fort Gratiot Township passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in Port Huron Hospital.
She was born to the late Lester and Paula Bodmer on Sept. 11, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
On Oct. 21, 1978, she married
Paul "Curt" Arnold in East Detroit.
Joann formerly owned and operated Ace's Collision in Mount Clemens where she lived for 16 years. She and Curt moved to Florida in 1994 and lived there five years before returning to Michigan and moving to Fort Gratiot Township.
She enjoyed square dancing, bowling and boating.
She is survived by her husband, Paul "Curt" Arnold of Fort Gratiot Township.; her daughter, Karen (Ronald) Rostoni of Lexington; her stepson, Bruce (Claudia) Arnold of Macomb Township; five grandchildren, Craig (Michelle) Rostoni of North Street, Kimberly (Chuck) Neubert of Melvin, Chris (Andrea) Arnold of Rochester Hills, and Nicole and Pamela Arnold, both of Macomb Township; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sam-antha and Alexandra Rostoni, April and Charles Neubert and Kaitlyn Arnold; one sister, Cleo (Herman) Plouff of Roseburg, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Joseph P. Braisted, pastor of North Lakeport Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Contributions may be made in Joann's memory to North Lakeport Wesleyan Church or the American Red Cross.
Leona V. Aston
Leona V. Aston, 90, of Port Huron Township died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in her home.
She was born May 10, 1911, in Argyle, to the late Adolph and Anna Vatter Kippen.
She married
Edward M. Aston on Nov. 30, 1935, in Angola, Ind. He died July 1, 1989.
Mrs. Aston is survived by her son, Gary Aston of Port Huron Township; and two grandchildren, Tina Marie and Gary Aston Jr.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Diane Aston.
Private graveside committal services will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.
Arrangements are by Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Ervin G. "Short" Bailey
Ervin G. "Short" Bailey, 83, of Marysville died, Monday Dec. 17, 2001, in Mercy Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Arthur and Cora Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was an AT chief in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict and retiring with 30 years of service. During his time of service he received many decorations, medals and commendations, including two bronze stars and a Presidential Unit Citation.
He was a member of the Marysville American Legion Post 449 and Charles Schoor V.F.W. Post 796. After his service career, he also retired from the Kennedy Space Center.
He is survived by his wife, Illa; five sons, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Norma) Bailey of Billerica, Mass., Dennis Bailey of Charleston, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. George (Kindra) Bailey of San Diego, Mr. and Mrs. John (Audrey) Bailey of Pensacola, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin (Nancy) Bailey Jr., of Tampa, Fla..; two stepdaughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jack (Kay) Quinlan of Marysville and Barbara Whybrew of Marysville; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Thomas Hillis, Linda Lietzel and Dolly Bailey.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Marysville Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Nicholas P. Berger
Nicholas P. Berger, 86, of Belle Glade, Fla., formerly of Port Huron, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in St. Joseph Hospital-West following a short illness.
He was born June 16, 1915, in Detroit and lived here from 1963 to 1989. He married
Margaret Berger. She died in 1992.
He was a Naval veteran of World War II. Nick was a partner in the Huron Step Co., Lakeport, for 20 years. In Florida, he was the campground maintenance and security supervisor for the city of Belle Glade. Nick was a member of St. Edwards Church, where he was active as an usher, bingo worker and many other phases of volunterrism. He was a former member of the Lakeport Lions Club. Nick also was an avid fisherman and duck hunter.
He is survived by his son, Dennis N. (Colleen) Berger of Harsens Island; his daughter, Susan K. (Louis) Cristofori of Lakeport; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Nick was preceded in death by a daughter, June, and his brother, Jacob.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday in St. Edward's-On-The-Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and at the church from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of Mass at noon.
