Zeien, Lillian A.
October 11, 1903 - September 18, 2001

Lillian A. Zeien, 97, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at the Medical Care facility in Mt. Pleasant.

A Funeral Mass for Lillian will be held at St. Joseph the Worker on Friday, September 21st at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Cotter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph the Worker cemetery in Beal City.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel today from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, September 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service held Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Lillian may consider St. Joseph the Worker School. Envelopes will be available at the church and the chapel.

Lillian was born on October 11, 1903, in Peawamo, MI, the daughter of John and Veronica (Feldspaugh) Hauck. Lillian married Louis Zeien in June 15, 1926. He preceded her in death in 1976. She worked as a homemaker and raised their two children. She enjoyed making quilts and crocheting and was a member of the Altar Society at St. Joseph.

Lillian is survived by her children, Walter (Janice) Zeien of Mt Pleasant and Marlene (Jean Paul Raeny) Helias of Farwell; twelve grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, thirteen step-great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Zeien of Mt. Pleasant and three sisters-in-law, Rose Hauck of Beal City, Mildred Hauck of Littleton, CO, and Luella Martin of Mt. Pleasant.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Louis and her parents.

Currie, Kenneth David
June 27, 1963 - September 17, 2001

Kenneth David Currie, 38, of Hudson, FL, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2001, in Brooksville, FL as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services for Ken will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at 11 a.m., at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery in Weidman.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel September 21st from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Ken may consider his family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Ken was born June 27, 1963, in Toronto, Canada, the son of Kenneth and Maureen (Cullum) Currie. He had worked in Florida as a mechanic at Touch of Class in Hudson, FL for fifteen years.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Laurissa Fisher of Sarasota, FL; parents, Kenneth and Maureen Currie of Weidman; one brother, Michael Currie, his fiancee’ Lori Clendening of Auburn Hills; two sisters, Deborah (Michael) Pasche of Mt. Pleasant, Susan (Eric) Pudlo of Ortonville, MI and his grandparents, Harry and Gladys Cullum and Isabell Currie of Toronto, Canada.

Ken was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ken Currie.

Moe, Roberta Jean
February 7, 1928 - September 9, 2001

Roberta Jean Moe, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2001, at Gratiot Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Roberta will be held on Wednesday, September 12th, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Benton Heisler officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel Tuesday, September 11th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, September 12th at the church. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Roberta may consider The First United Methodist Church and the American Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available.

Roberta was born on February 7, 1928 in Lansing, the daughter of Russell and Hazel (Wood) Palmer. Roberta married Edwin C. Moe on April 23, 1949. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at C.M.U. for twenty-five years, retiring in 1986. Roberta was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Circle at F.U.M.C. She loved being with her family and sharing in their activities.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Edwin, her children, Gary Moe (Cheryl), Karen Lewis (David) and Kathy Assmann (Al) all of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Kevin Moe, Jason Lewis, Krista Assmann, Rob Lewis, Carter Lewis, Aaron Assmann; and one great grandchild, Skyler Seeley. Roberta is also survived by one brother, Clayton Dale Palmer (Fran) of Portage, MI and one sister, Fern Plenar of Lansing.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Frank Plenar.

Foster, Jean Marie
March 15, 1947 - December 11, 2001

Jean Marie Foster, 54, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Interment will take place in Coomer cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 12th, from 3-9 p.m.

Jean was born on March 15, 1947, in Detroit, the daughter of John and Orielda (Schafer) Farner. She worked for 28 years for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center as a nursing aide, retiring in 1997. Jean anxiously anticipated the birth of her grandchild in May to daughter Laureen (Doug) Crowley.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Penny Seymour of Elkhart, IN, Laureen (Doug) Crowley of Shepherd, Peggy (Gary) Germain of Mt. Pleasant, and Diana Gluch of Weidman and son Roger (Jean) Pitts of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Brandon James, Trevor Sidney, Jakeb Glen Seymour of Elkart, IN, Jennifer Gluch of Mt. Pleasant; Angela Gluch of St. Louis, and Keith Allen Germain of Mt. Pleasant; her birth mother Mary (Herb) Chapman of South Bend, IN; her brothers William Chapman of Dowagiac, Lawarence Chapman of South Bend, IN; Richard Chapman Granger, IN, Joseph Chapman of Dowagiac, James Chapman of Dowagiac, Michael Chapman of South Bend, and Robert Chapman of Dowagiac; brother Richard Farner of Mt. Pleasant and sisters Sue Wilder of South Bend, IN, Mary Lewandowski of Long Beach, CA, Patricia Hensley of South Bend, IN, and Julie Carney of Tronato CA.

Jean was preceded in death by her soulmate Ernie Pitts and her adoptive parents.

Massey, Cecil Wayne
March 30, 1953 - December 10, 2001

Cecil Wayne Massey, 48, of Weidman passed away on Monday, December 10, 2001 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland.

Funeral services for Cecil will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Straus officiating. Cremation will follow ceremony.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 13th from
3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Cecil was born March 30, 1953 in Humble, TX to Joe and Annie (Cochren) Massey. He married Marie Straus in 1985. Cecil worked as the Distribution Manager for the Morning Sun. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but mostly being a father and attending his sons sporting events.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Jerry Massey and Joe Cecil Massey, both of Weidman; and his father, Joe Cecil of Spring TX and his mother, Annie Ruth Storm of Porter, IN. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack Massey of Spring TX and Jimmy Newsome of Houston, TX and six sisters, Joyce Bierman, Joann Bierman, Belinda Wood all of Spring, TX, Brenda Crump of Corning, AK, Becky Adcock of LA and Elaine Vann of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his special Grandma and Grandpa Schuchardt; his step-mother Viola Massey; father-in-law Gerald Straus; and brother-in-law Tony Straus.

Haught, Audrey Olive
October 19, 1935 - December 10, 2001

Audrey Olive Haught, 87, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2001 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral services for Audrey will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Freel of the Chippewa Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will take place at the Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 11th from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Audrey may consider the Commission On Aging, Isabella County Medical Care Activities or the Chippewa Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Audrey was born October 18, 1914 in Fairview, West Virginia to William and Mary (Fluharty) Engle. She married James Haught on October 19, 1935 in West Virginia. He preceded her in death in 1973. Audrey worked in their home taking care of their two children. She was a member of the Chippewa Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting.

Audrey is survived by her children, Mary (Gene) Ohms and James (Becky) Haught, both of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Julie Ohms, Joseph Ohms, John Haught, and Andrew Harless. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Colleen Haught of Alger, MI, Virginia Haught of Fairview, WV, Agie Danielson of Lexington, MI and Olive Tennant of Fairview, WV.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, James, one daughter, Nancy Haught, one brother, John Engle and one sister, Nellie Toothman.

Puhlman, Jr., Arthur A.
October 25, 1930 - December 4, 2001

Arthur A. Puhlman, Jr., 71, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of St Johns, passed away on Tuesday, December 4th, at his residence.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 8th, 2001, at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Fr. Douglas Osborn and Fr. Robert Byrne co-officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the time of service.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Arthur may consider Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund or masses. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Arthur was born on October 25, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Lucy (Ball) Puhlman Sr. He married Marcia Osborn in February of 1953. Arthur was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Following the service he worked for two years with S.S. Kresge then to Elias Brothers where he helped them open their seventh store. In 1973 he became the owner of The Clock Restaurant from which he retired in 1993. Arthur was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Marcia, six children, Cheryl Vodicka, Scott (LuAnn) Puhlman, David (Lee Ann) Puhlman all of Mt. Pleasant, Peri (Brian) Fausett of Shepherd, Chris Puhlman of Mt. Pleasant and Eric (Shana) Puhlman of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Melissa Vodicka, Mathew Vodicka, Patrick Vodicka, Laurie McNeil, Stacy Reen, Connor Puhlman, Ryan Fausett, Adam Fausett, Ashley Fausett, Christopher Puhlman, Justin Puhlman and one great grandson, Parker McNeil.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law, Ray and Nell Osborn.

Neier, Eugene Walter
February 20, 1931 - November 27, 2001

Eugene “Gene” Walter Neier, 70, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2001.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2001, at Clark Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in memory of Gene may consider the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Gene was born in Mt. Pleasant on February 20, 1931, the son of LeRoy and Mary (Walter) Neier. He graduated in 1949 from Mt. Pleasant High School. Gene was a corporal with the United States Marine Corp. and served in the Korean Conflict. Gene had worked as a chauffeur for Limo Network in St. Charles.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Darla Schmittner of Clare, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter; 1 sister, Lois Sheppard (Jim) of Mt. Pleasant; 1 sister-in-law Dixie Neier of Mt. Pleasant; and 1 brother-in-law Ross T. Turner of Cranberry Lake.

Gene was preceded in death by his son, Joel Neier in 1971; both parents; his brother Richard Lee Neier; and his sister Elsie Ruth Neier Turner.

Beard, Blake Wright
September 20, 2001 - November 24, 2001

Blake Wright Beard, 2 months, infant son of Tim and Jeannie Beard, passed away on Saturday November 24, 2001 at his residence.

Funeral services for Blake will be held on Wednesday, November 28th, at 1 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Adams of the Weidman United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place at the Fairview cemetery in Weidman.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 27th, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Blake was born September 20, 2001, in Mt. Pleasant to Timothy J. Beard and Jeannie A. (Snyder) Beard.

Blake is survived by his parents; 1 brother, Gage Arthur Alexander Beard of Mt. Pleasant;
2 sisters, Shelby Stockwell of Georgia and Sierra Raynne Snyder of Mt. Pleasant;
Grandparents Kenneth B. (Lois) Snyder of Evart, Grandmother Carla Snyder of Reed City, and Grandparents Arthur W. (Thelma) Beard of Waterford, Michigan.

Timmer, Alice Gertrude
April 17, 1935 - November 23, 2001

Alice Gertrude Timmer, 66, of Lansing passed away on Friday, November 23, 2001.

Funeral services for Alice will be held on Monday, November 26th, at 11 a.m., at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Fred McGlone of the New Covenant Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Kelly cemetery in Oil City, MI. A Memorial Service for Alice will be held Wednesday, November 28th at 4 p.m. at the New Covenant Christian Church located at 4415 W. St. Joseph Hwy, Lansing, MI, with Pastor Jim Rickman officiating.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Sunday, November 25th, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Alice may consider Pray America. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Alice was born on April 17, 1935 in Midland the daughter of Winford and Marie (Denton) Jewel. She married John Timmer who preceded her in death in 1979. Alice had worked as a secretary for the Pray America organization in Lansing for fourteen years. She was a board member of the Capital Area Community Services for thirteen years. Four times Alice had served as a missionary on missions to Guatmala. She enjoyed being a member of the New Covenant Christian Church and School and spending time with her family.

Alice is survived by her children, Helen (Scott) Rydman and Connie (Ed) Rhode both of Coleman, Esther (Lee) Uphold of Mt. Pleasant, Winford “Jim” Koss and Dana Rudoni of Shepherd, Dan Koss of Mt. Pleasant; ten grandchildren, Theodore “Ted” Rhode, Angela Rydman, Tonia Uphold, Alan Rydman, Cynthia Rhode, Pam Uphold, Derik Koss, Alicia Rudoni, Desirae Koss, Aricia Rudoni, and one great-grandchild, Emily Mae Lilly. She is also survived by her three brothers, Lyle (Chloe) Jewel and Paul (Sharon) Jewel of Arizona, Steve (Joan) Jewel of Kalkaska, MI and three sisters, Joyce (Rev. James) Estep of Evart, MI, Esther Vollmer and Beulah Grenert both of Mt. Pleasant and a special friend, Ron Morin.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her parents.
