Grace Cohoon
G. Cohoon, 96, of Port Huron, died Friday, March 7, 2003 in River District Hospital.
She was born Oct. 16, 1906 in London, England.
She married
Otis Cohoon on Sept. 2, 1928 in Detroit. He died Aug. 13, 1981.
Mrs. Cohoon was employed with Chrysler Corporation. She enjoyed an active life of traveling, hiking, bowling, playing cards and swimming.
She is survived by five children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Carol) Cohoon of Rochester, Harvey Cohoon of Fountain Valley, California, Mr. and Mrs. John (Vivian) McNeely of St. Charles, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Philip (Rose) Cohoon of Sterling Heights and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen (Barbara) Cohoon of North Street; nine grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Ernest McDavitt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa and four brothers.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Franklin Bennett will officiate. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Council on Aging.
Helen Carpenter
Helen E. Carpenter, age 86, of Marysville died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
She was born March 30, 1916, in Toronto, and had lived in the Blue Water Area since the 1940s.
She married
Lansing Homer Carpenter. He died in 1978.
Helen was very athletic. She loved to play softball, and taught her children and grandchildren to play.
She was fond of animals, especially birds.
She also was a volunteer at Port Huron Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Lansing Thomas (Nancy) Carpenter of Sacramento, Calif., and William (Valerie) Carpenter of Fort Gratiot; a niece, Viola (Bob) Nicolai or Port Huron; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special member of the family, Cathy Falk; and a longtime friend, Bertie Lochowicz of Marine City.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Max Amstutz, Port Huron Hospital chaplain, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
Helen Buckley
Helen M. Buckley, 89, of Sarnia, Ontario, formerly of Port Huron, died Monday, March 10, 2003 in Sarnia.
She was born June 24, 1913 in Burtchville Twp. and lived in the area of most of her life.
She married
Alexander Brooks. He died March 14, 1950. She married
Alonzo McEachen. He died Aug. 31, 1972. She married
Clifford Buckley. He died Dec. 6, 2001.
Mrs. Buckley was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #99 in Port Huron and the League of Catholic Women in Sarnia.
She is survived by her son, Ronald A. (Esther) Brooks of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Marilyn A. Borowski and Jim Kroetsch of Fort Gratiot; son, Richard P. (Sandy) Brooks of North Carolina; and daughter, Dana M. (Robert) Heath of Sarnia, Ontario; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie L. McNeil on July 17, 1993 and son, Fredrick C. Brooks in 1939.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Mathew George, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
A Scripture Service will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are requested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Carol Brideau
Mrs. Carol J. Brideau, age 79, of Harrison, formerly of St. Clair Twp., died on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 in her residence after a long illness.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1923 in Muscatine, Iowa to the late Glenn and Edna Miller.
She married
David R. Brideau on Dec. 9, 1967 in Mt. Clemens. He died on Oct. 12, 2000.
Mr. and Mrs. Brideau were the owners and operators of Dave and Carol's Trading Post.
She is survived by her son, Thomas M. Brideau of Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Steven Olson of Harrison, MI.; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky L. and Barbara Epperson of Smiths Creek; daughter, Caryll Sue Kondratko of Eastpointe; eight grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; sister, Donna Bevens; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. Pastor Don Sperling will officiate.
Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East cemetery.
Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

James Crawford
James L. Crawford, 81, of Lakeport, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 in his home.
He was born April 1, 1921 in Port Huron to the late Ernest R. and Elda Crawford and was a life long area resident.
He married
Leona Ruth Tremble on Sept. 11, 1943 in Jeddo.
Mr. Crawford retired in 1973 from Peerless Cement Company and was the caretaker at the Lakeport cemetery for 12 years. He enjoyed raising animals and farming.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leona; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Ruthann) Green; a son, Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Merlene) Crawford; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Crawford; nine grandchildren, Jamie L. and Elizabeth Miller, Jeffery and Debra Crawford, Claudette and Paul Lunney, Brenda and Keith Ludlam, Claude Green, Ernest "Hank" Crawford and Martie Rae, Janice Lynn Bailey, Karl Schroeder and Wayne Schroeder; 15 great-grandchildren, Conner, Patrick and Angela Crawford, Jennifer and Joshua Clark, Bradley, Brianna, Melissa and Aaron Lunney, Michael and Derek Barlow, Cody Crawford and James, Jessie and Samantha Bailey; two sisters, Mary Carrier and Dorothy Larson; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas (Shirley) Crawford; a sister-in-law, Joyce Tremble; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, James L. Crawford Jr.; a granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Crawford; four sisters; and three brothers.

Gladys Avery
Gladys H. Avery, 89, of Port Huron, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in Mercy Hospital after a long illness.
She was born April 21, 1913 in Armada.
She married
Orrin Avery. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Avery loved crocheting.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Merriman of Port Huron; sisters-in-law, Ethyl M. Avery of Jeddo and Madelyn Barnhart of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Following Glady's wishes there will be no services.
Cremation will take place.

Zillah Coyne
Mrs. Zillah Coyne, 80, of Jeddo, died Monday, March 10, 2003 in Fort Gratiot Township.
She was born August 14, 1922 in Port Huron to Elmer and Ruby Boshaw and was a life long area resident.
She married
James Coyne on April 16, 1952. He died October 1, 1980.
Mrs. Coyne loved to play bingo, go camping and vacation with her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Krafft of Fort Gratiot, Mr. and Mrs. Doug (Sharon) Angerbrandt and Mr. and Mrs. Phil (Pam) Waters, both of Lakeport; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Kay) Rapson and Larry Coyne, both of Fort Gratiot, and Barry Coyne of Jeddo; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Krafft; three brothers; and a sister.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Reverend Richard Shelton of Riverside Tabernacle Church of God will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township. Mrs. Coyne's grandsons will service as pallbearers.

Amanda Boman
Amanda Marie Boman, 12, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 9, 2003 in her home.
She was born July 18, 1990 in Port Huron to Tim and Linda Boman.
Amanda was a student at Holland Woods Middle School; a Girl Scout; and a member of Colonial Woods Missionary Church.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming and family functions.
She is survived by her parents, Timothy and Linda; a brother, Andrew Boman; and a sister, Melissa Boman; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin (Barbara) Zeros, Christine Youngblood and Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Kathy) Groh, all of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. Keith (Linda) Boman of Croswell; great-grandfather, Harold Zeros; and great-grandmother, Doris Cole, all of Port Huron; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and Godmother, Judy Proffitt.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Colonial Woods Missionary Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Robert Keller and The Rev. Caleb Bislow will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
Ethel Boreham
Ethel Boreham, 89, of Yale, formerly of Marysville, died Friday, March 14, 2003.
She was born Sept. 2, 1913 in Detroit to the late Thomas and Louise Wilkins.
She married
Thomas C. Boreham on July 13, 1935 in Mt. Clemens. He died July 31, 1995.
Mrs. Boreham worked for the City of Mt. Clemens in the City Manager's office for ten years and she was also a hairdresser.
She was a member of the Mt. Clemens Women's Club and loved to knit, sew, garden and travel.
She is survived by a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David (Judie) Seaton of Yale; two granddaughters, Suzanne and Carl Roskey of Croswell and Francie Seaton of Lakeport; three grandsons, James Campau of Clearwater, Duke Seaton of Eastpointe and Will and Tara Seaton of Yale; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Dylan Seaton and Casey, Brian and Geoffrey Roskey; a sister, Gertrude Engelman of Fraser; a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Charlotte) Wilkins of Mesa, Arizona; three nephews, Thomas and Sharon Wilkins of Arizona, Dr. Timothy and Quinn Wilkins of Port Huron and Scott Wilkins of Arizona; a niece, Alice Wilbrett of Fraser; three great-nieces, Erin, Melissa and Jennifer Wilkins; and a great-nephew, Evan Wilkins.
Visitation will be held from 11 .am. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2003 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Bakay of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn cemetery, Marysville.
