Steven Pawlowski

Steven Raymond Pawlowski, 79, of Lakeport, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Krakow, Poland.

On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Lila E. Rimonis in Chicago, Illinois.

Steve had three great passions in his life. His family, church and custom wood working. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.

Surviving are his three children, Robert (Clare) Pawlowski of Laramie, Wyoming, Cheryl (Robert) Toles of Port Huron and Susan Pawlowski of Lakeport; and two grandchildren, Thomas and Johnathon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila; granddaughter, Jaclyn; five brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Timothy M. Eichberger, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service time Monday at the church.

Military graveside services will be held under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice or Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Terryl Ostrander

Mrs. Terryl A. Ostrander, age 57, of Port Huron, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital after along illness.

She was born on June 18, 1946 in Port Huron.

Terryl married Melvin F. Ostrander on May 8, 1965 in Milan, Illinois.

She graduated from Port Huron High School in 1964 and retired from Eastern Michigan Bank in Port Huron as an assistant manager in 1998. She enjoyed the Casinos and Bingo. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Terryl is survived by her husband, Melvin of Port Huron; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Mary Jo Ostrander of Port Huron; son and daughter, Ricky and Billiejo Ostrander of Port Huron; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Corey Zayas of Port Huron; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Austin, Autumn, Ricky Jr., Zachary, Tyler and Mikayla; father, Raymond Saunby of Port Huron; two brothers, Tom Saunby of Waterford Twp. and Dennis Saunby of Port Huron; sister-in-law, Sharon Saunby of Marysville; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Paul Castillo of Clarkston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Ruth Ostrander of Port Huron; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joann and Eugene Lozano of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael, he died May 1996, her mother Helen Sharrard and stepfather, Jack Sharrard.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street. Mary Ann Stackpoole will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Corey Zayas, Troy Saunby, Ralph Ash, Robert Bernum, Patrick Lozano and Terry Lozano.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Wishes of the Family.

Margaret Moore

Margaret M. Moore, age 89, died Thurs-day, May 27, 2004 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab.

She was born July 3, 1914 in Port Huron.

Margaret was a member of Gamma Nu and she volunteered at Mercy Hospital for many years. Her career was babysitting many children throughout the area.

She will be dearly missed by her friends at Northport where she resided for the past three years.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Richard) Middleton of Port Huron; grand-daughters, Jean (Paul) Petty of Jeddo, JoAnne (Alan) Briolat of Lakeport and Jacqueline M. (James) Bryer Jr. of Jeddo; grandson, Richard (Carol) Wagner of Defiance, OH; great-granddaughter, Bethany; great-grandsons, Paul, Tim, Alan, Justin and Jordan; great-great-granddaughter, Madison; nieces, Kathy (Larry) Smith and Lisa (Dave) Wellman; nephew, Bob (Linda) Smith; special friends, Janie Ruthven and Gayle Walker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norbert Ullenbruch; her mother, Marie Smith; brothers, Robert A. and Raymond G. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Joseph Fox; and grandson, Joseph Fox-Bryer.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Edwards on the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas F. Esper will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Paul, Marty and Tim Petty, Alan and Al Briolat and Jim Bryer.

Memorials may be made to Marwood Nursing and Rehab.

Robert Monzo

Robert F. "Bob" Monzo, of Fort Gratiot, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born to Charles and Elizabeth Sue Monzo on June 30, 1930 in Port Huron where he was a life-long resident.

On Dec. 15, 1962, Bob married Marilyn Klinert.

He milked cows for 14 years at London's Farm Dairy and later was employed by USA Today at the Times Herald. He always claimed to enjoy working outside of his home in order to avoid his wife's "honey do" list.

At age 57, Bob earned his high school diploma.

Bob was a member of Port Huron Lodge #158 L.O.O.M. and participated in the Moose bowling league. He enjoyed working outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and telling jokes. He especially loved watching and feeding his birds at home.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn K. Monzo; his five children, Kevin (Sue) Monzo of Port Huron, Noreen (Jeff) Waun of Clyde Twp., Timothy (Tammy) Monzo of Port Huron, Kelly (Will) Labadie of Port Huron and Maxwell (Tina) Monzo of Port Huron; and his 12 grandchildren, Shaun, Joey, Ryan M., Sean S., Sean M., Ryan G., Josh, Andrea, Jessica, Brianna, Phillip and Timothy. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Susie-Q, Lucy and Boston.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The Rev. Russ Chamberlain will officiate. Burial will follow in Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Peck.

Visitation will be in the funeral home from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Bob's family will serve as his pallbearers.

Shirley Monroe

Shirley D. Monroe, age 78, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in Evangelical Home following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 9, 1926 in Charlotte and lived here the past 60 years.

She married Thomas A. Monroe II on Feb. 15, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Shirley taught sewing at Mary Maxim for 28 years and was an accomplished seamstress. She belonged to the neighborhood bridge club for 42 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Studer of Battle Creek; son, Thomas A. Monroe III of Port Huron; daughter, Shelley M. Balkwill of Sterling Heights; granddaughter, Julie (David) Sims of Battle Creek; grandsons, David G. (Cindy) Studer of Santee, CA, Thomas A. Monroe IV of Kalamazoo and Darren L. (Cheryl) Monroe of Port Huron; her granddaughter, Kelley D. Balkwill of St. Clair Shores; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Stanley (Dolly) Vincent of Marshall; her sister, Sharon Vincent of Port Huron; and her brother, Gary Vincent of Lakeport.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. Franklin P. Bennett will officiate. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.

Visiting hours are 10 a.m. until the service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or the Evangelical Home.

Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Kenneth Moak

Kenneth Wayne Moak, age 55, of Port Huron, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2004 in his residence unexpectedly.

He was born on June 7, 1948 in Port Huron, son of the late Angelo Lopiccolo and Elieen Moak.

Kenneth served in the United States Marines. He was a member of the D.A.V. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his two daughters Jennifer Marie Moak and Shondy Bagetta; grandson Aaron Rivera; sister and brother-in-law Pam and Brian (Lopiccolo) Williams; two brothers Sam Lopiccolo and Dennis Lopiccolo; special friends Rich Smith and the Smith family, Sandra Cole and Linda Lasky and many many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Pastor Donald Sperling will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Visiting hours are Saturday 12 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Rich Smith, Don Smith, Steve Smith, Dave Gurnsey, Ed DeLand, George Lasky and Myron Bankston.

Memorial tributes may be made to wishes of the family.

Barbara Maass

Barbara A. Maass, age 64, of St. Clair Twp., formerly of Port Huron. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2004 peacefully in her daughters home.

She was born Sept. 1, 1939 in Watertown, MI, Sanilac County, and lived in the Bluewater area most of her life.

She married Sam Maass. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Barb was a member of First Congregational Church. She retired from the P.H.A.S.D. in 1979. She was very active in the retirement community in Sarasota, Florida.

Barb enjoyed the out of doors and loved to cook and entertain.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen A. (Kenneth) Gadd of St. Clair Twp.; sons, Andrew F. (Tammy) Branch of Port Huron, Michael C. Branch of Ypsilanti and William D. (fiancee Lori Brown) of Dearborn; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her mother, Beatrice Williams of Watertown, MI; her sister, Dellene (David) Hall of North Branch; brother, William A. (Joan) Williams of Sandusky; her step-son, Grant Maass of Florida; and her step-daughter, Gail (Rick) Lippitt of St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dalton Williams.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Robert E. Starkey will officiate. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church columbarium. The Rev. Reed C. Benedict will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Syringomyelia Alliance Project, Inc. or the Vamo United Methodist Church.

Mary Malane

Mary Lou "Moon" Malane, 72, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in St. John's Hospital after a short illness.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1931 in Port Huron, and has lived here all of her life.

She married Patrick C. Malane on March 31, 1951 in Port Huron. He passed away on March 10, 2004. They are now joined once again in Heaven.

She was a graduate of Port Huron High School. She worked at Mueller Brass until she became a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen (Ken) Reilly; her son and daughter-in-law, John (Julie) Malane; her grandsons, Patrick Kendall Reilly, Kenneth John Reilly, Connor John Malane and Keegan Thomas Malane; granddaughters, Katie Gonder, Kellie (Dan) Stevenson, all of Port Huron; her great-granddaughters, Alexis Ann and Ashley Marie Gonder; great-grandsons, Zackary Daniel and Collin John Stevenson; her sister, Mary Ann (Paul) Vroman; brother, Richard (Nancy) Mullen; brothers-in-law, Manford (Pat) Malane and Francis (Pearl) Malane; sister-in-law, Delphine Streich; and her uncle, Gerald (Jean) Mullen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her life long friends, Bill and Katherine Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Edith Mullen.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Stanley A. Wyczawski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.

Visiting hours will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Kendall and Kenneth John Reilly, Daniel Stevenson, Paul and Guy Vroman and Christopher Sage.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
