Raymond Manley

Raymond J. Manley, 81, entered into eternal life on September 21, 2004.

He was born August 2, 1923 in Port Huron.

He married Lucille V. Sladowski on November 15, 1942 in Richmond, MI. She preceded him in death July 8, 2000.

Ray was a loving husband and father. He was a lifetime resident of the Port Huron area and spent his life driving truck.

Mr. Manley was a board member of Port Huron Township Zoning Board of Appeals, Port Huron Township Election Worker, a retired member of the Teamsters Local 339, past president of Teamsters Local 339 Retirees, past president of the Blue Water Auto Restorers and long time member of St. Stephens Catholic Church.

He is survived by four daughters, Roseann (Eldon "Rip") Fenner of Sun City Arizona, Mary Manley of Bentonville, Arkansas, Cindy (Ted) Frantz of North Street and Patti Manley (Tom Frantz) of St. Clair; five grandchildren, Colleen (Kirk) Mortimer of Marysville, Noreen Fenner (Dennis Parham) of Tallahassee, Florida, Craig (Paige) Fenner of Tallahassee, Florida, Chad (Christy) Strauss of Rogers, Arkansas, Troy (Timeni) Strauss of Granite City, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Meghan and Courtney Mortimer and Kolten Strauss; long time friend, Shirley Goheen; many nieces and nephews.

Ray touched the lives of many and will sadly be missed by all.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephens Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Craig Fenner, Chad and Troy Strauss, Kirk Mortimer and long time friends, Gordon Vought, Carl Beals and Charles Engel.

Memorials may be made to the Mercy Hospital Fund Development or the MS Society.

Lillian Mechan

Lillian A. Mechan, 83, of Port Huron, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab following a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Port Huron and was a life long resident.

She married Wilfrid M. Mechan on Jan. 5, 1943 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Lillian was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Society. She loved to travel, enjoyed walking, but her first love was her family.

She is survived by her husband, Wilfrid M. Mechan of Port Huron; her daughters, Barbara Jean (Leon) Johnson of Oxford, Mary Ellen (Chuck) Hauff of Shelby Twp., Carol Ann (William) Edgar of North Lakeport and Patricia Kay (Paul) Ouellette of Canal Winchester, OH; her son, Jeffrey (Vonnie) Mechan of Port Huron; her grandchildren, Richard J. (Alissa) Ramage Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Charles G. (Mindi) Ramage of Orange Park, FL, Heather (Dan) Albert of Romeo, Christopher Hauff of Ferndale and Lori (Michael) Stoneberg of Mt. Crested Butte, CO; her great-grandchildren, Avery Ramage of Danville, CA, Daniel, Charlene and Sydney Stoneberg of Mt. Crested Butte, CO; her sisters, Vlasta Janovich of Tiffon, OH and Helen VanLoo of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Masar; brother, Louis Masar; and sisters, Clara "Denny" Callender and Mary Buenrostro.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Society.

G. Robert MacGregor

G. Robert MacGregor, age 79, of Clyde Township, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in his home after an extended illness, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 28, 1924 in Barrhead, Alberta, Canada. He has lived in the Blue Water Area since 1946.

He married Ila Wilson June 8, 1946 in Port Huron. She died February 22, 1954. He married Jeanne Eusey in May of 1958. She died June 10, 1993.

Robert served in the Canadian Army during WWII. He worked for Peerless Cement for 42 years until his retirement in 1987 as Production Supervisor. He was always lending a helping hand, and was a friend to all.

He is survived by his children, son James (Jane) MacGregor of Livonia; daughter, Brenda (Ken) Stroh of Oxford; son, Richard (Nancy) MacGregor of Port Huron; daughter, Gail MacGregor of Clyde Twp.; two step-sons, Robert Brown of Port Huron, and William (Meredith) Brown of Gaylord; four step-daughters, Pamela (Lewis) Long of Clyde Twp., Pennie (Jim) Tedlock of Marysville, Barbara (Rick) Ling of Temperance and Su (Dennis) Muxlow of Port Huron; a sister, Margaret Lawrence of Sarnia; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his girls (dogs), Shelbi and Emma.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street with The Rev. Gordon Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Shad and Gregory Stroh, Joshua MacGregor, Jim Tedlock III, Jim Marek and Ken Stroh.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice, the Visiting Nurses Association or the American Lung Association.

Dale MacClemmons

Dale A. MacClemmons, age 55, of Kimball, died unexpectedly, October 19, 2004 in his home of natural causes. He was born July 1, 1949 in Port Huron and was a life long resident. He worked for Prestolite Wire and Cable for 20 years, and for Blue Water Painting and Decorating for 8 years. Dale enjoyed bowling, hunting, and baseball. He is survived by his mother, Lillian MacClemmons of Kimball, son, Cory (fiancé Barbara Ryan) MacClemmons of Applegate, daughters, Tammy Sweeny of Arizona, and Kimberly (fiancé Glenn Brinkman) Coburn of Marine City, son, Robert States of Marysville, 5 grandchildren, sister, Linda (Mark) Kester of Kimball, brother, Terry MacClemmons of Kimball, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James, and a brother, Robert. The funeral service will take place at 10 AM Saturday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. David Caswell officiating. A graveside committal service will follow in Caswell cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim and Tim Hering, Sean Bowser, Shaun Golubinski, Rob States, and Brian Dobson. Friends may visit Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

D. John Main

D. John Main, age 54, of Port Huron, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital.

He was born to George and Ellen Main on Oct. 12, 1950 in Port Huron and married Victoria Ferrier on Dec. 20, 1980.

John was an excellent cook and he worked at various local restaurants including Diana Sweet Shoppe and Powers. He loved to make people laugh. He especially enjoyed being with his nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his wife, Vicky A. Main; a step-son, James (Belinda) Ferrier of Fort Gratiot; three step-grandsons; 11 sisters and brothers including Doris Doan of Port Huron, George "Don" (Connie) Main of Lakeport, Gordon Main of Port Huron, Joyce (Lester) Bennett of Tampa, FL, Alice (Steve) Buc**eister of Port Huron, Sandy (Danny) Langowski of Kimball, Frank Main of Peck, Barbara Main of Port Huron, Kathy (Roger) Langowski of Fort Gratiot, Ruth (Bill) Newberry of Port Huron and Mike (Donna) Main of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Bill Main; and two nephews, Bobby Main Jr. and Stevie Buc**eister Jr.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, Tuesday.

Contributions may be made in John's memory to his family.

Lewis Long

II Corinthians 5:8 "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Lewis Earl Long, 64, of Clyde Twp., went to his eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1939 to the late Clifford and Helen (Stein) Long.

Lewis married Pamela D. Brown on Sept. 25, 1965 in Port Huron.

Lewis was employed with Ford Motor Company for several years and also at Mueller Brass Company until 1991. He was a volunteer at Francophone Ministries for Christ and at S.O.N.S. Ministry. He also assisted his wife in the Special Ministries Department at Northgate Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; and by two children, a son, Stephen M. Long; and a daughter, Michelle D. Long. He is also survived by two brothers, Lee (Ruth) Long and Larry Long; two sisters, Crystal Walters and Cindy (Randy) Shaw; brothers-in-law, Robert Brown, William (Meredith) Brown, Richard (Nancy) MacGregor and James (Jane) MacGregor; sisters-in-law, Pennie (Jim) Tedlock, Barbara (Rick) Ling, Su (Dennis) Muxlow, Gail MacGregor and Brenda Stroh; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting will be held at the Cornerstone Church, 4025 North Road (at Krafft Rd.), North Street from 1 to 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Peter Foxwell will be officiating.

Memorial tributes may be made to the wishes of the family.

John Lorenz

John A. Lorenz, age 62, of Port Huron, died Sept. 15, 2004 in his home following a short illness.

He was born on September 18, 1941 in Detroit and has been a resident for the past ten years.

John served in the U.S. Army and was past president of Harsens Island improvement association. He was a life member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed carving decoys, fishing, and raising Labrador Retrievers. He loved the water but most of all his family!

He is survived by a son, John A. (Lisa) Lorenz, Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Cheryl (Dave) Kurby, Key Largo, FL; grandchildren, Maya, Jack & Lucille; brother, Robert M. (Judith) Lorenz, Sylvania, OH; brother, David Lorenz, Livonia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Evelyn S. Lorenz.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Rene L. Desmarais, Pastor will officiate.

Burial will take place in Mt. Kelly cemetery, Dearborn.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

A scripture service will be held tonight at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.

Amos Lewis

Amos G. Lewis, 82, of Port Huron, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 in his residence following a long illness.

He was born to Burt and Pearl Lewis on Feb. 17, 1922 in Clyde Twp., and graduated from high school in Trenton, MI in 1940.

He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Iowa.

Amos married Doris M. Hill on March 8, 1947 in Port Huron.

He was a veteran of the Port Huron Police Department for 31 years, retiring in 1981 as a Lieutenant in the Detectives Bureau. He loved to fish, hunt and support his grandson in the St. Clair County 4-H program. He also attended Columbus Baptist Church.

He spent his lifetime being a good husband, father and grandfather, and always found time to help children.

Amos is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Doris M. Lewis; his son, Kenneth L. Lewis of Fort Gratiot Twp.; his grandson, Aaron G. Lewis of Marysville; two step- grandchildren, Lee VanBeek and Lisa (Jason) Rands; one step-great- granddaughter; a former daughter-in-law, Linea Lewis of Marysville; his brother, John (Betty) Lewis of Fort Gratiot Twp.; his sister, Eleanor Ireland of Port Huron; two half-brothers, William (Kathleen) Palmer and Robert (Nancy) Palmer, both of Sandusky; a half-sister, Patricia Wendell of Fenton, MI; two sisters-in-law, Mary (James) Nipper and Judy (Kenneth) Mitchell, both of Port Huron; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond Lewis.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. Pastor Donald Pew of Columbus Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside cemetery under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be John Lewis, William Palmer, Robert Palmer, Len Montoya, Willard Carleton and James Nipper. Honorary pallbearers will be Eleanor Ireland and Patricia Wendell.

Contributions may be made in Amos's memory to the American Cancer Society, St. Clair County 4-H, or Columbus Baptist Church.

Barbara Krampien

Barbara M. Krampien, 75, of Algonac, formerly of Port Huron, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 in Medilodge of St. Clair after a short battle with cancer.

Barbara was born July 26, 1929 in Port Huron and was a lifelong area resident.

She married William D. Krampien on August 6, 1955 in Marysville. He passed away August 27, 2003.

Barbara was a lunchroom supervisor at Harrison Elementary School for many years. She and her husband enjoyed Pembroke Welsh Corgis and assisted in the rescue club.

She is survived by her children, Randy Krampien of Algonac, Deborah (Mike) Melbourne of Ocala, FL and Bonnie (Bob) Mitchener of Algonac; sisters, Genevieve Bickle of Kimball and Audrey Headlee of Marysville; and her brother, William (Gloria) Ward of Lakeport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; grandson, Matthew; brother, John Ward; and her sister, Theresa Rynties.

A memorial service for Barbara and William will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel J. Rhodes, pastor of Algonac Baptist Church will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visiting will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club/Rescue, c/o Stephanie Snowden - Rescue Chairperson, 4608 Schwartz Ave, Lisle, IL 60532.
