May 29, 1942 - February 26, 2002

Julia Elizabeth Pettigrew, 59, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at her daughter’s home in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Julia will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, at Clark Funeral Chapel with David Shoemaker officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 1st, from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2nd, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Julia was born on May 29, 1942, in Clover Splint, Kentucky, the daughter of Louis and Grace (Logan) Shoemaker. She married Larry Pettigrew on December 26, 1960. Julia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church. Julia enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading.

Julia is survived by her children Jody Sherwood (Laurence), Beth Smedley, Laura Orta, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Douglas P. Pettigrew and Sarah Medley of Allen Park; 7 grandchildren, Rachel, Jennifer and Amanda Sherwood, Courtney and Bryce Smedley, and Veronica and Miranda Orta; her mother Grace Shoemaker of Lewiston; her brothers James Shoemaker (Connie) of Dearborn Heights, Louis Shoemaker (Jean) of Middleville, Russell Shoemaker (Pat) of Canton, David Shoemaker (Gina) of Nashville, TN, and sisters, Paula Schoening (Jim) of Lewiston, Sue Domagalski (Rick) of Dearborn Heights, and sister-in-law Donna Pettigrew.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 1998.

Ford, Lyle Dell
May 3, 1940 - February 25, 2002

Lyle Dell Ford, 61, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2002, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Lyle will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1st, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eugene Methner officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 28th, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, March 1st, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Lyle was born on May 3, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Merton and Vera (Conrad) Ford. He married Margaret Ann Williams on December 18, 1961, in Mt. Pleasant. Lyle had worked for 40 years for V & M Motor Sales as a wrecker driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Lyle is survived by his wife Margaret A. Ford of Mt. Pleasant; his children, Brenda Diane Keeder (Jack) of Mt. Pleasant, Brian Scott Ford (Colette) of Houghton Lake, and Michael Thomas Ford (Cindy) of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren, and 1 sister Sue Ann Jones (Robert) of Romeo.

Lyle was preceded in death by both parents and his Great-Grandmother Daisy Ford.

Corbitt, Eileen Marie
May 30, 1934 - February 14, 2002

Eileen Marie Corbitt, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2002, at The Laurels.

A Funeral Mass for Eileen will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February18th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Byrne officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 16th, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, February 17th, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart for Health, a Sacred Heart Outreach Ministry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Eileen was born on May 30, 1934, in Beal City, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Fussman) Simmer. She graduated from Beal City High School in 1952. Eileen married John E. Corbitt on February 19, 1955. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Eileen is survived by her husband, John E. Corbitt; her children, Sharon (Gary) Bullard of Shepherd, Jane (Gary) Lang of Green Bay, WI, and Diane Corbitt of Detroit; six Grandchildren, Jamie Bullard, Jennifer Bullard, Joni Bullard, Jason Lang, Mike Lang and Ben Horner and one great granddaughter, Kasey Spohn. She is also survived by one sister, Kate (Larry) Brickner of Shepherd.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Chris Bullard, two brothers, Steve Simmer and Jerry Simmer and one sister, Roz Cole.

Christy, Terri Lyn
June 10, 1963 - February 14, 2002

Terri Lyn Christy, 38, of Rosebush, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2002, at her home.

Funeral Services for Terri will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 18th, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Pego of Faith Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will take place in Woodland cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 16th, from 6-9 p.m., and Sunday, February 17th, from 3-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Terri was born on June 10, 1963, in Greenville, the daughter of Roger and Charlotte (Cogswell) Hansen. She graduated from Shepherd High School in 1982. Terri married Dennis Christy on October 31, 1997. She worked as an office manager at the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Terri enjoyed painting, reading, and singing.

Terri is survived by her husband, Dennis Christy; her children, Amie (Luis) Loya-Magallanes of Mt. Pleasant, Stacie Travis of Rosebush, Nicole Jackson and Christian Jackson II, both of Mt. Pleasant; one grandson, Damian Rafael Loya-Magallanes; her parents, Roger and Charlotte Hansen of Lake Isabella. She is also survived by her brothers, Roger (Karrie) Hansen of Ithaca, Jeffrey Hansen of Morley, MI, Mark (Maria) Hansen of Lake Isabella and John Hansen of Midland, and her sisters, Debra Pattison of Lake Isabella and Shawn (Gerald) Bade of Midland.

Terri was preceded in death by her grandparents and aunts.

Suminski, Marion
September 16, 1928 - February 12, 2002

Marion Suminski, 73, of Lake, went to be with our Lord after a valiant two-year battle with cancer. He passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at his Lake home with his family around him.

Marion was born on September 16, 1928 in Hamtramck, MI., son of Joseph and Bernice Suminski. He married Wanda Wozniak on July 2, 1949.

Marion enjoyed hunting, baseball, basketball and bowling as a young man. He worked for 16 years on the Railroad before going to work for Chryslers in Detroit. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation after many years of service where he worked as a plumber/pipe fitter. He attended St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City.

Marion is survived by Wanda, his loving wife of 52 years, daughters; Caroline (David) Dodson-Olberding of Burlington, KY, Kathleen (Ronley) Plous of Kansas City, KS, Barbara (Ronald) Adamczyk of Muskegon, MI and Deborah Suminski of Lake, MI, Grandchildren; Bryan Dodson, Traci Adamczyk, Kristopher Adamczyk, Jesse Plous, Evan Plous and Nolan Plous. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene (Marlene) Suminski of Eastpointe, MI and Thomas (Melody) Suminski of Oklahoma City, OK.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bernice and two brothers, Joseph and Richard.

A Funeral Mass for Marion will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beal City on Saturday, Feb. 16th, at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Cotter officiating. Burial will take place at the Gilmore Township cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 14th from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15th from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and Saturday, Feb. 16th at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A Wake service will be held on Friday, Feb. 15th at 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid Michigan Visiting Nurses or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Gregg, Lewis Marion
November 24, 1938 - February 2, 2002

Lewis Marion Gregg, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2002, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Lewis will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 7th, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eugene Methner officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 6th, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, February 7th, from 11 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Lewis was born on November 24, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of George and Crystal (Slocum) Gregg. He married Veronica “Ronnie” Taylor on March 24, 1962. Lewis was employed as a baker for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center (State Home). He loved playing bingo and listening to sports.

Lewis is survived by his wife Ronnie Gregg; his children, Ken Gregg, Tracey Kortman (Darrin), Vickie Gregg, and Donna Bookey (Stuart), all of Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren, Cody, Forrest and Krista, Kyle, Kelly and Kirk, Mike and Kim; his parents, George and Crystal Gregg of Summerfield, FL; his father-in-law Lewis Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; his 2 brothers, Lloyd Gregg (Lee) of Mt. Pleasant, Lyndon Gregg (Debbie) of Beaver City, NB; and his sister Norma Jean Krauss (Glen) of Summerfield, FL.

Schutt, Beverly June
June 11, 1949 - May 26, 2002

Beverly June Schutt, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Beverly will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Dale Golden of Coomer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 28, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., and on Wednesday, May 29, from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Beverly was born on June 11, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Dwaine and Edna (Burris) Wing. Beverly was employed as a retail clerk for Border’s Party Store for 22 years. She loved her job and enjoyed horseback riding as well as bowling at Chippewa Lanes.

Beverly is survived by her children, Ronald (Chisca) Schutt of Weidman, Gidget (Kevin) Rowland of Shepherd, Shelby (Merlin) Adams of Weidman, John (Julie) Schutt of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren, Tyger & Kayla Rowland, Kristi, Kenni and Jon Adams, Jessica, Jennifer, Jill and Joe Schutt, and Dale Schutt; her father, Dwaine (Martha) Wing of Mt. Pleasant; her brother Richard (Sue) Wing of Mt. Pleasant; and her sister Judy (Victor) Jeffrey of Weidman.

Beverly was preceded in death by her mother Edna in 1989, her nephew Michael Jeffrey in 1986, and her in-laws Roland and Bertha Ann Schutt.

Straight, George W.
March 8, 1925 - May 24, 2002

Mt. Pleasant resident George W. Straight, 77, died at home on Friday, May 24, 2002, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 30, at Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 South Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Gardens cemetery. Following the burial service, a celebration of life will be held at the Order of the Eastern Star Hall in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 29, from 4-6 and 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Straight was born March 8, 1925, in Holland, Michigan, the son of George W. and Bessie Straight. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the 33rd Naval Construction Battalion, stationed in the Philippines.

In 1949, he earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Michigan State University. Mr. Straight married Muriel Tara on October 4, 1952, in Otter Lake, Michigan. He was employed by Dow Chemical from 1975 until his retirement in 1985. Prior to that, he worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for 23 years, and for the Michigan Geological Survey, Petroleum Division from 1949 to 1952. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and a former member of the Michigan Basin Geological Society.

Mr. Straight was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of Chapter #55 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife Muriel; his children: David and daughter-in-law Carol of St. Louis, Missouri, Jane and life partner Pam of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael of New Orleans, Suzanne and son-in-law Steve Snyder of Chicago, and Bruce and daughter-in-law Karin of Vienna, Austria; and by his12 grandchildren: Helen, Stephen, Nathanael, Daniel, Jason, Portia, Tara, Trevor, Melanie, Timothy, Benjamin and Ian.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Central Michigan, 401 South Main St., Mt. Pleasant.

Wonch, Raphael Ivan
April 8, 1935 - May 23, 2002

Raphael Ivan Wonch, 67, of Mt. Pleasant died on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral Services for Raphael will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th, at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with interment to follow in the Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 24th, from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wonch Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Raphael was born April 8, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, the son on Ivan Howard Wonch and Repha Reynolds Wonch. Raphael married Norma Jean Omans. He served 3 years with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a farmer for 23 years for the Francis Engler Farm and also had worked as a truck driver for Seiler Tank Service. Raphael enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his beagle Ringer.

Raphael is survived by his wife Norma Jean of Mt. Pleasant; his children, Dale Wonch of Lake Isabella, Mark (Ronda) Wonch of Beal City, Bonnie (Terry) Anderson of Weidman, Linda (Jerry) Hammond of Midland, David (Carrie) Wonch of Mt. Pleasant, and Raphael (Christine) Wonch Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Myron (Lou) Wonch of Lansing and Melvin Wonch of Lansing; 2 sisters, Betsy (Fred) Korrock – Holt and Iva Duremis of Nebraska.

Raphael was preceded in death by both parents, sisters, Elvina Broskey, JoAnne Wonch, Anna Morris, Brother, Lesil Wonch.

Ritchey, Judy Ann
August 27, 1941 - May 23, 2002

Judy Ann Ritchey, age 60, of St. Louis, Michigan, passed away on Thursday May 23, 2002, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with a brain tumor.

Funeral Services for Judy will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, at 11 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel. Pastor Ron Ives and Deacon Larry Fussman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 27th, from 2-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ritchey Family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Judy was born August 27th, 1941, in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Edward E. Mullin and Georgianna (Roberts) Mullin. Judy married Dennis Ritchey who preceded her in death on May 5, 1993. Judy had worked as a waitress and for Ferro’s Manufacturing, and most recently as a direct care worker for Listening Ear. She loved fishing and Karaoke.

Judy is survived by a special friend Jack Fussman of St. Louis; her children, Curtis M. (Kathy) Ritchey of Mt. Pleasant and Vicki Ann Munro of Shepherd; grandchildren, Katrina A. Ritchey, Joshua Schutt, Cheyenne Munro, and Colton Munro; brothers Wilson Seeley of Shepherd, Harry Seeley of Houghton Lake, Donald (Mary) Mullin of Weidman, Terry (Sharon) Mullin of Mt. Pleasant;
sisters, Flossie Linville of Mt. Pleasant, Betty Sisco of Mt. Pleasant, Pat (Wayne) Atkinson of Mt. Pleasant, Darlene (Tom) Trgina of St. Louis, Carrie (Gary) Ellison of Remus.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, 1 sister Dorothy Hacker, and niece Amiee Herald.
