Margaret Garza

Margaret "Maggie" Garza, 83, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 in her nephew's home in Ortonville following a short illness.

She was born June 8, 1924 in Luetta, Texas and has lived in the Blue Water area most of her life.

Maggie retired from the J.C. Penney Company after 30 years of service.

She was a life member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission where she provided the altar flowers for Mass.

Maggie received the Juan Diego Award in the early 1990s from the Diocese for her services.

She enjoyed baking and loved her family.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Refugio "Cookie" Garza of Ortonville; nephew, Gregory (Ratchanee) Garza of Ortonville; nephew, Michael Garza of Ortonville; niece, Val Garza of Canton; Niece, Suzanne (Chuck) Richardson of Dearborn; niece, Corazon Delarmente of Arizona; great-nephews, Pancho Garza of Arizona, Gary and Gregory Garza of California, Nick Garza of Canton; Karl (Elna) Richardson of Westland; great-niece, Stephanie Richardson of Toledo, OH; and great-great-nephew, David Richardson of Westland.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Francisco and Francisca (Villanueva) Garza; brother, Gregory Garza; and nephew, Frank Garza.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission.

The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 13th in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14th at the church.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening.

Memorials may be given to the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Thomas Frazer

Thomas F. Frazer, 75, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 30, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital unexpectedly.

He was born October 18, 1931 in Port Huron, son of the late Frederick and Laura (Brown) Frazer and has been a lifelong area resident.

Tom married Ella P. Durette.

She preceded him in death on September 4, 2005.

He was a former employee of Spike Furniture and past projectionist for the Old Huron Theater and McMorran Place.

Tom enjoyed the out-of-doors, playing bingo and watching hockey and baseball.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Terence) Hoy and Kristine (David P.) Kalaf of Port Huron; son Jeffrey Frazer of Port Huron; grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, David J., Rachel and Jenelle; sister Donna (Edward) Buczkowski also of Port Huron.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Paul and sister Virginia Booth.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Joseph M. Esper will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (8/1) in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Frazer, Terence Hoy, David P. and David J. Kalaf, Ron Sheridan and Barry Heacock.

Memorials in memory of Tom may be given to Mercy Health Care Center or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.

Mary Fogal

Mary E. Fogal, age 78, of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 after a long illness. She was born October 6, 1928 in Croswell, and was a lifelong area resident.

She married James R. Fogal on September 9, 1948.

He preceded her in death on October 27, 1965.

Mary had belonged to the Port Huron Civic Theatre, and the Stitchery Club at Northport Towers.

She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed sewing and crafting.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Wilton of Fort Gratiot; a son, Brian Fogal of Center Line; 5 grandchildren, Heather Wedge of St. Clair, Emily and Meghan Wilton both of Fort Gratiot, Heidi (Alan) Swinson of Burtchville, and James Fogal of Port Huron; 2 great-granddaughters, Faith and Rylee; a sister, Florence (Wellington) Ainsworth of Fort Gratiot; a brother, John Foglesong Sr. of Burtchville; 2 sisters-in-law, Madeline (Howard) Erdman, and Margery (Art) Miller; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14 in the North Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Harvey officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at church beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or The United Way of St. Clair County.

Robert Farr

Robert William 'Bob' Farr, 65 of Port Huron, passed away peacefully at home, July 21, 2007, in the presence of his family ending his yearlong battle with colon cancer.

Bob was born October 18, 1941 in Port Huron to the late William Joseph and Mae MacLardy Farr and lived happily here with his wife of nearly forty years, Gayle Margaret Campbell, whom he married on August 19, 1967.

He was an avid participant in golf, bowling, and tennis in addition to his passion for hockey, which he refereed for Silver Stick and Junior Hockey.

Always quick with a joke, he put a smile on everyone's face and was a master practical joker.

Bob was a member of Grace Episcopal Church for 35 years, serving on both the Junior and Senior Vestry where he served one term as Senior Warden.

He worked for Mueller Brass 29 years and Professional Services Inc. (P.S.I.) for 12 years retiring from P.S.I. in 2003.

While employed at Mueller's, Bob was a member and served as president of both the ProTo (Progress Together) Club and Quarter Century Club.

He is survived by Gayle and his three daughters: Carol Lynn (Upinder Raisauda) Farr of Lansing, Michigan; Heather Ann Farr of Lansing, Michigan; Erin Louise (Adel) Gougam of Toronto, Ontario, 2 grandchildren Aidan and Amelia Gougam, his brother Paul Frederick (Patricia) Farr of Port Huron, and his niece Sheila Welsh.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Episcopal Church preceded by one hour of visitation in the church parlor.

The Rev. Robert Trask will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Grace Church Columbarium at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Ken Langmesser, Bob Seaton, Nick Lucas, Larry Cleland, Burt Mumford, and Mike Harrington.

Honorary pallbearers are Gerry Huston and Al Watson.

Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Bridge Builders in Port Huron, or the American Cancer Society.

Marion Emerick

Marion V. Emerick, 82, of Ft. Gratiot and formerly of Port Huron, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 after a long illness.

She was born October 20, 1924 in Port Huron, daughter of the late Wilbur and Mabel (Morrison) Kramp and was a lifelong resident.

Marion married Charles Emerick June 8, 1946 in Port Huron.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Marion is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles of Ft. Gratiot; her children, Craig (Betty) Emerick of Marysville, Laurie (Jack) Protzman of Tavares, FL and Linda (Chet) Harwood of Kissimmee, FL; brother, Merle (Carol) Kramp of Port Huron; sister, Irene (Charles William) Anger of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Steven (Tamara) Cloutier, Lori (John) Bowns, Michael Emerick, Bridget (David) Bostater, Richard Harwood, Jeffrey (Anne) Harwood, Kirsten Harwood and Danielle Harwood; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Glen Kramp.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Marion's memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Charles Emerick

Charles Emerick, 85, of Ft. Gratiot and formerly of Port Huron, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 after a long illness.

He was born April 12, 1922 in Port Huron, son of the late Alexander and Dorthea (Eifert) Emerick and was a lifelong resident.

Charles married the former Marion V. Kramp June 8, 1946 in Port Huron.

She preceded him in death August 14, 2007.

He was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre.

He retired from Frito-Lay, Inc. in 1984 after thirty years of service.

Charles is survived by his children, Craig (Betty) Emerick of Marysville, Laurie (Jack) Protzman of Tavares, FL and Linda (Chet) Harwood of Kissimmee, FL; brothers, Jacob (Berk) and Robert (Rosemary) Emerick, both of Port Huron; sister, Eleanor McDaniel of Hyattsville, MD; sister-in-law, Dorthea Emerick of Ft. Gratiot; grandchildren, Steven (Tamara) Cloutier, Lori (John) Bowns, Michael Emerick, Bridget (David) Bostater, Richard Harwood, Jeffrey (Anne) Harwood, Kirsten Harwood, and Danielle Harwood; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Alexander Emerick, Jr.; and his sisters, Amelia Neal, Katherine Kernohan, Mary Fisher, Lydia Emerick, Edith Reynolds and Dorothy Hereford.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorials in memory of Charles may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
