Dora May Muldrew
August 5, 1912 - May 8, 2006
Dora May Muldrew, 93, entered the presence of her Savior on Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. Dora was born on Monday, August 5, 1912 in Sears, Michigan, the daughter of Phillip and Bertha (Smith) Youngs. She spent most of her life in Mt. Pleasant. Her Christian testimony and love for the Lord impacted many lives. She was a faithful worshipper at Bible Baptist Church in Rosebush. Dora was retired from Central Michigan University where worked in housekeeping.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy, brothers, Alford and Elvin, and husbands, John Dunbar and Delbert Muldrew. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and several step grandchildren. Although Dora never has any children, she leaves many dear friends to mourn their loss. She is sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Timothy Spitzbergen of Calvary Baptist Church in Tenly Park, Illinois officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Douglas Steven Kriesche
January 21, 1952 - May 5, 2006
Douglas Steven Kriesche, age 54, of Coleman, Michigan passed away, with his family at his side, on Friday, May 5, 2006 at his home.
The funeral service is planned for Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Helms Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. Interment will follow at Kelly cemetery.

Douglas was born on Monday, January 21, 1952 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan the son of Frank and Iva (Denton) Kriesche. He married
Judith Quinn on October 28, 1995 in Shepherd, Michigan. He was a lifetime resident of the area. Doug worked at Pohlcat Golf Course as a Mechanic.
Doug is survived by his wife: Judith; children: George Gear, Jeff (Cheryl) Gear, Darcy Davis, Denise (Mike) Urban, and Deborah (Joeseph) Pawlo; grandchildren: Brandon, Jessie, Brittani, Mike, Shavelle, Zachary, Kenneth, Courtney, and Caleb; brothers: Dennis (Karen) Kriesche, and Donald Kriesche; and sister; Beverly Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Iva Kriesche and a sister, Marlene Border.
Elizabeth Jeanette Betty Douglass

Elizabeth Jeanette Betty Douglass, age 93, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Gratiot Community Hospital, Alma, Michigan.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Helms Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Rydman officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Betty was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Michael and Emilia Biehlski. She married
William T. Douglass on July 1, 1949. She has been a resident of the area for the past 15 years after having lived in Arizona. Betty was a mother of four and a homemaker. As her children grew, she was always active in scouts, the Mothers March of Dimes, and the Republican Party. Some of her happiest days were as a Foster Grandmother at Mary McGuire School for seven years where she was known as Grandma Betty. She loved playing cards at the Senior Center and at The Day Program. In her younger days, she enjoyed Golf, winning several tournaments, and Bowling. She was an avid Bridge player and member of the Garden Club. She was most recently a member of First Baptist Church here in Mt. Pleasant and also attended Central Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her children: Claudia Douglass, Ronald (Faye) Douglass, David (Geni) Douglass; a son-in-law: David Bokar; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a sister: Dell Lelito.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William, on November 4, 1997; daughter: Andrea Bokar; a brother; three sisters; and granddaughter: Wendy.
Lucille Lena Denton
June 23, 1927 - April 24, 2006
Lucille Lena Denton, aged 78, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2006 at Covenant Health Center in Saginaw. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 16th at 11 a.m. at Central Michigan Free Methodist Church, With Pastor Richard Fulkerson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Lucille was born on Thursday, June 23, 1927 in New Haven Township, Shiawassee County, the daughter of George and Lena (Cool) Holzhausen. She married
William John Denton on February 14, 1948 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Lucille was a homemaker and very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, who will greatly miss her. She volunteered for several years at the Isabella County Senior Center, and regularly attended church. She especially enjoyed baking for her family and will be remembered for always looking on the bright side of life, no matter what befell her.
She is survived by children Leslie (Beverly) Denton and their children Jenny, Emily and Geoffrey; Douglas Denton; Janice (Donald) Schurr and their children Erica, Son-in-law Sam, Andrew and Laura; and by Debbie Denton. By her sisters Frieda Mellentine and Virginia Bullard, and sisters-in-law Dorothy Holzhausen and Irene Holzhausen. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George, Freddy and Eldred Holzhausen and sisters Millie Ludington, Ethel Dennis and Dorothy Butcher.

Irene Rosa Leffingwell, age 80, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away, with her family at her side, on Monday, April 24, 2006 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Helms Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Roose officiating. Interment, following the service, will take place at Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Irene was born on Saturday, July 18, 1925 in Free Union, Virginia the daughter of David Henry and Rosa (Ritter) Wells. She married
Floyd George Leffingwell in 1946 and has been a resident of the Alma / Mt. Pleasant area since 1927. She worked at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center Audiology Patient Care as an LPN for 29 years.
Irene is survived by her children: Harold (Dian) Leffingwell, Michael (Diane) Leffingwell, Kenneth (Kaylee) Leffingwell, and David Leffingwell; a sister, Beulah Thrush; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd on January 17, 1974; her parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
Geneva M. Mackety

Geneva M. Mackety, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on April 18, 2006 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Doyle Perry officiating. Interment will take place in the Athens Indian Mission cemetery, Athens, Michigan on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m.
Friends may gather with the family on Thursday, April 20 after 11 a.m. at the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene.

Geneva was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1923 in Rosebush, Michigan the daughter of James and Lenora Ann (Pelcher) Pego.
She married
Samuel Mackety in June 1941 in the North Branch Church, North Branch, Michigan. Geneva lived in various areas of the United States during her life. Geneva was a Missionary, serving and working with the Native Americans all over the country. She was a member of the Faith Church of the Nazarene, former member of the Board of Directors of the Nimkee Tribal BCCCP Feather Link. She started a cancer support group for Tribal cancer survivors.
Survivors include her son, John Rusty Russell Mackety of Mt. Pleasant, a brother, James and Grace W. Pego of Rosebush, Michigan; a sister, Phyllis and Frank Kequom of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; a sister, Roselene Romer; sister-in-law Alberta Wells; and grandparents, Moses and Mariah Pelcher.
Catherine A. Weber
October 25, 1929 - April 2, 2006
Catherine A. Weber, age 76, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, well known educator and lover of nature, died in her home in Mt. Pleasant, early Sunday morning, April 2, 2006, following a short, but courageous battle with Leukemia.
She was born October 25, 1929 in Lowell, Michigan to the late Harry & Elizabeth Phelps. She attended Lowell High School and lived in Lowell for seventeen years.
Cathy graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Elementary Education. She met her husband, Daniel B. Weber at Western and on August 12, 1950 they united in marriage and shared 48 years of love, laughter and life.
Cathy was a strong advocate for environmental awareness and protection of our natural resources. In addition to teaching elementary education, she was responsible for developing elementary level environmental education curriculums that were adopted by school systems throughout the United States. She was a life long member of the Sierra Club, Audubon Society, Michigan Education Association, as well as an active member of the local Democratic Party.
Reading, traveling the world and bird watching were among her favorite pastimes. She was actively involved in her familys lives, sharing her beautiful kind spirit, and always offering encouragement. Her memory will live forever in the lives of her family, friends and the countless number of students whose lives she touched.
Cathy is survived by two sons Mitchell (Donna) and Matthew, six grandchildren Allison, Mitchell, Laurel, Merrill, Gwinan and Stephen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, brothers: John Phelps, and Hoyt Phelps and sister, Joan Gogulski.
Cathy will be remembered by her family and friends on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 2 p.m. at her home (3805 S. Vandecar Road). Joseph Anthony Danoski

Joseph Anthony Danoski, age 67, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 1 P.M. at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Joe Frankenfield officiating. Interment will follow in Greendale cemetery, Midland County.

Joe was born on Wednesday, January 4, 1939 in Pittston, Pennsylvania the son of Stanley and Catherine (Lynott) Danoski. He was raised by his Aunt Eudora Dodie and Uncle Danny Ed Danoski from the time of his early teen years on.
He was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area since 1994. Joseph worked as a Roughneck in the area oil fields. He spent fifteen years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era conflict. He was a member of the Borley-Hanel VFW Post #3033 and a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Joseph is survived by his children: daughter Marilyn (Martin) Rease of Coleman, Michigan and her mother, Ginnette Danoski of Paris, France, daughter Tammy (Elmer) Wood of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Bridgette (David) Henry of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and Danelle (Reggie) Lofton of Lansing and their mother Linda (Chinis) Bennett of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and grandchildren: Natasha, Skya, Devan, Paige, Jordan, Logan, and Hannah. Aunt Eudora Dodie Danoski, cousins: Danny, David, and Elizabeth.

Richard William Gilpin
December 11, 1914 - March 4, 2006
Richard William Gilpin, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis, Michigan with his family at his side.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 11 a.m. from The First Church of Christ, 1610 E Broadway Street with Mr. Mike Riness, Mr. Mark Christian, and Mr. Ivan Odor officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home and again on Wednesday, March 8 from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.

Richard was born on Friday, December 11, 1914 in Isabella County, Michigan the son of Robert and Louisa (Diamond) Gilpin. He married
Evaline Percilla Parker on October 6, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He was a lifetime resident of the Mt. Pleasant area. Richard worked at Dow Chemical for thirty-five years and was a part-time farmer. While at Dow Chemical he worked as a Set Up Person. He was a member of the First Church of Christ. He loved farming, raising kids, and woodworking. As a young adult, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp.
Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years: Evaline P. Gilpin; children: Brenda (Bert) Coe of Alma, Dick (Sharon) Gilpin of Arizona, John (Susan) Gilpin of St. Johns, Louise (Andy) Pryor of Colorado, and David Gilpin of Mt. Pleasant; fifteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and daughter-in-law Susan Gilpin.
Mary Louise Doerfer
Miss Mary Louise Doerfer, age 85, passed away at her home. Born on Wednesday, September 22, 1920 and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Mary Louise was the first child of Victor and Imogene Doerfer. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John, Richard, and Eldon Doerfer; and sister: Rose Gaffield. Mary Louise is survived by sisters: Julia Mrazek and Violet Robinson of Mt. Pleasant; Geraldine (Ed) Malin of Ocala, Florida; Jean (Nick) Chybinski of Alexandria, Virginia; Ellen Doerfer of Walnut Creek, California; and brother: Russell Doerfer of Hudsonville, Michigan. While never married
, Mary Louise was a caring friend, daughter, sister and aunt with many nieces and nephews whose lives she has touched and enriched.
Mary Louise influenced many childrens lives throughout her teaching career which began in Marion and ended with over 30 years working with elementary students in Utica, Michigan. After her retirement, in 1979, Mary moved back to Mt. Pleasant. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church congregation teaching Vacation Bible School. An avid gardener, Mary Louise spent much of her time growing vegetables and sharing the produce with friends and family. She was a regular volunteer at the Isabella County Senior Center helping with the meals, making quilts, lap robes, mittens, as well as clown and gingerbread dolls for the hospitals children patients.
The community has lost a good member, a caring person, and a nice woman who tried to make a helpful difference to those around her. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 701 E. Maple, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Samuel Reith officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens cemetery.
