Betty Jane Sult
November 26, 1926 -- April 18, 2009

Betty Jane Sult, age 82, of Rosebush, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Betty was born on November 26, 1926 in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Augustus and Leona Mae Brown Bowen.
Funeral services for Betty were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Charles Moerdyk of the Rosebush Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant.
The family greeted friends on Monday, April 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Helms Funeral Home. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Rosebush Presbyterian Church Building Fund or to St. Judes Hospital, envelopes were available at the funeral home.
On August 28, 1945, Betty was married to Harry Sult in Port Huron, Michigan. She was a resident of the community since 1976 moving here from DeWitt after living there for 20 years. Betty was a certified Nurses Aide operating Sult Foster Care for ten and a half years and also worked at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. She was a member of the Rosebush Presbyterian Church and was a church elder, choir director, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Susan Graham Fellowship.
Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Harry; four children and their spouses, Larry and Debra Sult of the Upper Peninsula, Donald and Harriet Sult of Zeeland, Darrell and Tracie Sult of Zeeland, and Patricia and James Ashley of Spring Hill, TN; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Helen and Robert Charles of Port Huron and Dorothy and Harry Baer of Spring Grove, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Bowen.

Daryl B. Larrance
June 28, 1932 - April 13, 2009

Daryl B. Larrance, age 76, of Weidman, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Daryl was born on June 28, 1932 in Rosebush, Michigan, the son of Benjamin and Maybelle McDonald Larrence.
Funeral services for Daryl were held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Wayne Boughan of the Breckenridge Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment was in Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant beside his parents. Family greeted friends on Wednesday, April 15, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes are available at Helms Funeral Home.
Daryl was a 40 year resident of the Weidman area and was a pipe welder for Tulsa Pipeliner Union. He was in the Air Force from 1950 to 1953. Daryl enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gardening, growing flowers, walking outside, and most of all, his family.
Daryl is survived by his brother and wife, Kenneth and Rita Larrance of Lake; his sister and her husband, Donna and Frank Britton of Valpariso, IN; two nieces, Gayle (Robert) Losinger of Lapeer and Carole (Kevin) Virden of Franklin, TN; a nephew, Daryl Larrance Sr. of Las Vegas; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Debra A. Musil
July 14, 1960 -- April 4, 2009

Debra Ann Musil, age 48, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland surrounded by loved ones. Debra was born on Thursday, July 14, 1960 in Clare, the daughter of Jerry Musil and Shirley Natzel Acker.
A celebration of Debras life was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Deacon Larry Fussman of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Interment took place in Memorial Gardens. Friends greeted the family on Tuesday, April 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home with a vigil scripture service being held at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Pardee Cancer Fund.
Debra lived in Mt. Pleasant most of her life and was a chef at the Soaring Eagle and also an electrician for Veit Electric for more than 20 years. Debra loved to do electrical work and anything to do with the outdoors. She enjoyed being with and cooking for her family and friends. Debra was an avid hunter, loved driving quads, gardening, and camping. She loved to do things for others and to take care of all her family and friends.
Debra was survived by her significant other, Gary J. Tilmann of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Hope (Kevin) Lendzion and Ashley A. Robinson, both of Mt. Pleasant; one grandchild, Kaitlyn; two sisters, Connie (Don) Sattler of St. Louis, MI and Victoria (Kyle) Monroe of Shreveport, LA; and two nieces, two nephews, and one expected nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Tony Musil.

Lealand "Lee" Mills
August 6, 1919 - April 2, 2009

Lealand Lee Mills, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Lee was born on August 6, 1919 in Clare, Michigan, the son of Morey and Maria Miller Mills.
At the request of the family, private funeral services were held for Lee. Interment took place at Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions were suggested to the needs of the family.
On September 14, 1946, Lee and Lottie Gorski were married in Detroit. Lee and Lottie have spent most of their lives in the Mt. Pleasant area. He was owner and operator of Mills Body Shop for over 50 years. Lee was a member of the American Legion and served in the US Army during WWII in the New Guinea, Papuan, and the South Philippines Campaigns. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting.
Lee is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lottie of Mt Pleasant; two children, Donald L. Mills and Deborah Mills both of Mt. Pleasant; one grandson and his wife, Jason and Lori Mills; three great grandchildren, Keagan, Kyleigh, and Kamdon; a brother, Russ Mills of California; and a sister, Virginia Harris of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.

Harold T. Greenan
June 7, 1910 -- March 26, 2009

Harold T. Greenan, age 98, of rural Mt. Pleasant and Remus area, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at The Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. As per Mr. Greenans wishes, he was cremated with no services planned.

V. Eileen Houghton
December 14, 1920 -- March 16, 2009

V. Eileen Houghton, age 88, of Fennville, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009 in Fennville. Eileen was born on Tuesday, December 14, 1920 in Breckenridge, Michigan, the daughter of Niles Avery and Lena Blanche (Rooks) Cummings. On September 30, 1951, she married William D. Houghton in Mt. Pleasant. Bill preceded her in death on May 9, 1996.
Funeral services for Eileen were held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jean Winther of the First Congregational Church in Breckendridge, Michigan officiating. Interment took place in Two Rivers cemetery, Isabella County, beside her husband. Friends gathered with the family on Thursday, March 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Community Cancer Services. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Eileen was a lifetime resident of the Mt. Pleasant area. She worked for many years as a hospital aide at Gratiot Community Hospital and the Michigan Masonic Home. She attended the Winn United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed western square dancing, crocheting, crafts, traveling, and camping.
Eileen is survived by her children, Gary Lee and Suzanne Holton of Fennville, Michigan, Dennis and Barbara Holton of Corydon, Indiana, Welbie and Jane Houghton of Lyman, South Carolina, Vanessa and Don Hubl of Independence, Missouri, and James and Joy Houghton of Alma, Michigan; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, Keith E. and Linda Cummings of Breckenridge, Michigan; two sisters, Jean Winchell of Freeland, Michigan, and Lois M. and Jim Willoughby of Shepherd; one sister in law, Jane Cummings of Lansing, Michigan. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; both parents; her grandmother, Alida Cummings; a grandson, Rob Goosen; a brother, Rex Cummings; and a brother in law Bruce Winchell.

Mary Alice Davis Latoski
August 19, 1928 - March 17, 2009

Mary Alice Davis Latoski, age 80, of Alma, Michigan, formerly of Shepherd, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at her home. Mary was born on Sunday, August 19, 1928 in Farwell, Michigan, the daughter of Donald Edward and Cora Lula (French) Davis. On August 19, 1946, Mary married Roman Latoski in Bay City. Roman preceded Mary in death on June 3, 1985.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John Boley of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Mary was a homemaker and a lifetime area resident. She very much enjoyed her family and friends. In the neighborhood where she lived, she was known to many as Grandma and Great Grandma, who always had something to drink for the children who visited her on a daily basis. She will be missed by all.
Mary is survived by her children, Angela and Roy Norris, Terry and Barbara Latoski, and Julie and Larry Friend, all of Alma, Michigan, Peggy and Robert, Jr. Rhode of Shepherd, Mary Beth and Thomas Mathis of Mio, Michigan, and Roman and Patricia Latoski of Dale City, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great granddaughter; two brothers, Deral Davis of Shepherd, and Robert and Lois Davis of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; and two sisters, Eva Reed of Lansing, Michigan, and Judith and Theodore Latoski of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; two sons, Stanley Ray and an infant son; and four sisters, Margaret, Helena, Julia and Donna.

Charles R. Yount
May 20, 1931 -- March 14, 2009

Charles R. Yount, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Central Michigan Community Hospital after a long illness. Charles was born on Wednesday, May 20, 1931 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Virl and Hazel (Shiverdecker) Yount. Charles married Eunice Weisenauer on December 8, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bay County, Michigan.
Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served faithfully for four years, before spending the next sixteen years in the U.S. Air Force, serving at various bases around the world. He served as a medical technician while in the service. After retirement, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for ten years. Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 1100 a.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church, 3401 E. River Road, with Pastors Samuel Reith and Jonathon Bakker officiating. Following the service, interment will take place in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Friends gathered with the Yount family on Monday, March 16 at the Helms Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation continued at the church from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, Sanctuary Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at the church.
Charles is survived by his wife, Eunice; four children, Charles and Charlene Yount, Jr. of Swartz Creek, Michael Wesley Yount of Mt. Pleasant, Diana Marie Yount of Lansing, and Joseph Alan and Susan Yount of Ann Arbor; six grandchildren, Allison Jo Yount, Megan Marie Yount, Sonya Yount, Amber Yount, Crystal Yount, Amanda and Grant Hogan; one great granddaughter, Arama Hogan; one brother, Douglas and Trudy Yount of South Carolina; five sisters, Susan and Duane Woods of Sanford, Phyllis Feders of Fenton, Barbara McCullough of Sacramento, California, Judy Cain of Wasau, Indiana, and Kay and Les Harris of Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, John; both parents; a brother, Gerald; and sisters, Martha Lee Muma and two infant sisters.

Evelyn M. Allison
March 13, 1914 -- March 8, 2009

Evelyn Allison, age 94, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant after a long illness. Evelyn was born on Friday, March 13, 1914 in Adrian, Michigan, the daughter of Leo and Bessie (Reed) Blanchard.
Funeral services for Evelyn were held on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 1:00 pm from the Helms Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Russell officiating. Interment followed the service at Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, beside her mother Bessie. The family greeted friends at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, March 11, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Thursday prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions in Evelyns memory have been suggested to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
She retired from Butterworth Hospital, now Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as an admitting clerk moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1990. She enjoyed family, friends, gardening and attended First Presbyterian Church.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Suzanne Brittain Hand; five grandchildren: Russell (Judy) Brittain, John (Tracy) Brittain, Warner (Shelly) Brittain, Allison (Gary) Darnell, Evelyn (Brian) Darnell and nine
great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Kemsley L. in May of 1966.

Dr. Garrett Gibson Rank
March 20, 1949 -- March 5, 2009

Private family services for Garrett Gibson Ran, D.O., 59, of Enid, Oklahoma were held on Saturday afternoon, March 7, 2009 at the Brown Cummings Funeral Home Chapel in Enid, Oklahoma. A graveside service was held on Thursday, Marcy 12, 2009 at the Coomer Methodist cemetery in rural Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant was in charge of those services.
Dr. Rank was born March 20, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Robert Kinsey and Lois Sarah Roadarmel Rank. Dr. Rank died Thursday, March 5th, 2009 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He married Vicki Lynn Willard in Clemons, Iowa on June 12, 1976. The moved to Enid where he was an internal medicine pulmonary specialist, serving Enid until his death.
Dr. Rank is survived by his wife, Vicki; three daughters, Marinn Rank, Aubryan Rank, and Kaelyn Rank. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Ranks memory to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Aletha Eileen Bellinger
November 1, 1924 - March 4, 2009

Aletha E. Bellinger, age 84 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2009, at Central Michigan Community Hospital as the result of a long term blood disorder. Aletha was born on Saturday, November 1, 1924 in Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of Bond and Mabel Young Marshall.
Funeral services for Aletha were held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Strickland Baptist Church in rural Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Lindow Koop officiating. Interment followed the service at Green cemetery in Lincoln Township beside her husband and son. The family greeted friends at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday, March 5, from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday, March 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorial contributions in Alethas memory were suggested by the family to Woodland Hospice or the American Red Cross Blood Drives.
In November of 1943, Aletha and Fremont Bellinger were married at the Strickland Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the area and worked in the Food Service Area at Central Michigan University for many years. Aletha was a member of the Strickland Baptist Church, and a long time volunteer at Central Michigan Community Hospital, where she also donated small pillows she sewed for the hospital. She had great pride in her grandchildren, loved her gardening and birds, and gave assistance to her many friends when they needed it. She loved to travel with her husband and learned how to fly an airplane so she could land it if something happened to him when they were flying together. Aletha always had a smile for everyone she came in contact with. She had a great love for her farm and the conservancy of nature.
Aletha is survived by her two sons, Lynn Bellinger of Shepherd and Jim Bellinger of San Marcos, CA; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five brothers and their spouses, Bruce and Sandy Marshall, George and Nita Marshall, Maurice and Edith Marshall, Frank and Shirley Marshall, and Lawrence and Nancy Marshall; and two sisters, Genevieve Swindlehurst and Virginia and John Lane. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; a son, Cary in 1997; three sisters, Marjorie Marshall, Wanda Webb, and Mary Harris; and three brothers, John, Dean, and Orrin Marshall.

Charles Junior Clark
January 15, 1927 -- February 23, 2009

Charles Junior Clark, age 82, of Shepherd, Michigan passed away at his home on Monday, February 23, 2009. Charles was born on January 15, 1927 in Isabella County, Michigan, the son of Charles A. and Mary Jane Comins Clark. On October 5, 1954, he and Audrey M. Grim were married in Isabella County, Michigan. Audrey preceded him in death on January 25, 1996.
Charles was owner and operator of Clarks Storage and Transfer for over 60 years. He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post in Mt. Pleasant. Charles enjoyed watching sports, hunting, and fishing.
Funeral services for Charles were held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Connie Bongard officiating. Interment took place in Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant next to his wife. Friends gathered with the family on Thursday, February 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, February 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions were suggested to Downs Syndrome Society of Mt. Pleasant in Charles memory.
Charles was survived by his children, Clinton James and Barbara Clark of Mt. Pleasant, Roberta Sue and Robert Richardson of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Edward Clark of Mt. Pleasant, Marilyn Ann and Roger Chapman of Shepherd, Anna Marie Clark and Joe Pfiffner of Ft. Collins, CO, and Thomas William Clark and Kim Buchanan of Shepherd; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe and Lois Clark and Mike Clark both of Mt. Pleasant; and two sisters and their spouses, Sue and Dennis Embrey of Weidman and Carol and Rich Embrey of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Marion Harrison; a son, Arthur Martin Clark; and two daughters, Clara Jane Horning Mitchell and an infant daughter.
