Virginia Marie Omans
January 10, 1947 - December 7, 2004

Virginia Marie Omans, age 57, of Mt. Pleasant died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Virginia was born January 10, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Roy and Lilah Marie Wallace Omans.
Ginny was a lifelong resident of Mt. Pleasant. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant, and enjoyed being with friends and family, singing and making crafts.
Ginny is survived by her sister and husband, Barbara and Bob Coldwell of Mt. Pleasant; three nephews and their families; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Ivan C. Odor and Mr. Jeff Gritton officiating. Interment was in Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions were suggested to the First Church of Christ.

Irene E. Nolan
September 10, 1913 - December 5, 2004

Irene E. Nolan, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2004 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. She was born on September 10, 1913, the daughter of John and Flossie (Eaton) Russell. In 1934 in Mt. Pleasant, she married Chris Nolan, who preceded her in death.
Irene was a homemaker and a care giver in her own home. She was a Foster Grandparent for over 15 years, and worked at the Speech and Hearing Clinic for several years. She attended the Nazarene Church.
Survivors include her children, JoAnne Nolan of Mt. Pleasant, Verna Nolan of Mt. Pleasant, Sarah Spanne of Mt. Pleasant, Lorna Nolan of Saginaw, MI, and Melvin and Lois Nolan of Jacksonville, Fl; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Richard and Gene Ralston, both of Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 1 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Perry officiating. Interment followed in Riverside cemetery, beside her husband. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Laurels Activity Fund.

Lonnie Jales DeRosia, Sr.
April 18, 1964 - December 4, 2004

Lonnie Jales DeRosia, Sr., age 40, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at his home in Mt. Pleasant. Lonnie was born on April 18, 1964 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Louis Edward and Oma Askren DeRosia. On December 12, 1982, he married Tina DuBois at the Weidman Baptist Church.
Lonnie was an auto mechanic and a member of the Remus Baptist Church. He was a lifetime area resident.
Survivors are his wife, Tina; three children, Bonnie, Lonnie, and Jonathan; a grandson, Braydon; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Interment took place in Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions were suggested to the family.

Marjorie F. Kotez
December 12, 1924 - December 3, 2004

Marjorie F. Kotez, age 79, of Lake Isabella, Michigan, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at her daughters home in Livonia. Marjorie was born December 12, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Harry and Marjorie (McKenzie) Shuttle. On November 26, 1949, she and John Kotez were married in Detroit, Michigan.
Marjorie was an accident clerk for Con Rail for 30 years retiring in 1987. She and John moved to Lake Isabella after her retirement. Marjorie was a member of the Weidman United Methodist Church.
Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Robert) Rooke of Livonia and Katherine Valkos of Dearborn; and two grandchildren, Melanie and Mary Valkos. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorial services were held on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Weidman United Methodist Church in Weidman, Michigan. Cremation has taken place as per Marjories wishes with interment in Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Westland, Michigan.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the Angela Hospice of Livonia.

Lucille W. Hazekamp
March 13, 1931 - December 1, 2004

Lucille Warren (Haynes) Hazekamp, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on December 1, 2004 in the loving presence of her daughters, Jana and Audrey, and her brother, Paul, and sister in law, Janet. She was also present in the hearts and prayers of many, many others.
Lucille was born on Friday the 13th, March 1931 in Brandsville, Missouri, the only daughter of Irl Potter and Margaret Lucille (Weddle) Haynes. On July 30, 1961, she was married to Donald W. Hazekamp at the first United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. A marriage that lasted 41 years until his death in October of 2002. Lucille received her undergraduate degree at the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City and her Masters Degree at Indiana University. She is a past faculty member of vocal music at Central Michigan University, and a longtime inspirer of piano and vocal music students of all ages. Lucille, herself was an extraordinarily creative musician and singer.
Lucille was a loving mother and family member, a passionate supporter of CMU athletics, world traveler, avid accompanist of local musicians and singers, and an active friend and member of PEO, a womens service organization.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Jana Hazekamp of Holland, and Audrey Hazekamp of Dexter, MI; two brothers, Stanley (Betty) Haynes of Grayslake, Illinois and Paul (Janet) Haynes of Ann Arbor; close in laws; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends both local and around the globe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and brothers, Alvin Lander and Alan Ray Haynes.
A celebration of music and Lucilles life was held on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John Boley officiating.
Memorial contributions were suggested to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hospice of Central Michigan, or the First United Methodist Church Organ Fund.

Anna M. Hillerman
June 27, 1913 - November 18, 2004

Anna M. Hillerman, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Anna was born on June 27, 1913, in Detroit, Michigan. She married Henry Hillerman in Detroit, Michigan in 1937. Henry preceded her in death in 1969.
Anna moved to Mt. Pleasant 32 years ago, moving here from Clio, Michigan. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, and enjoyed crocheting, baking, and playing cards.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Schook of Mt. Pleasant; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 brothers: Jim and Frannie, and a sister Dorothy, all of Detroit. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son William Hillerman.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment took place in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris, Michigan.

Winifred S. Grenke
January 26, 1916 - November 13, 2004

Winifred S. Grenke, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at her home. Winifred was born on January 26, 1916 in Isabella County, the daughter of Ray and Floy (Swarthout) Palmer. On August 20, 1936, she married Joseph Grenke in Rochester, Michigan.
Winifred was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed arts and crafts, making dolls and sewing doll clothes, and enjoyed crocheting. She was a resident of the area for over 25 years, moving here from the Detroit area. Survivors include her son, Frank and Kay Grenke of Lewiston, her daughter, Hilda and Frank Gruss of Mt. Pleasant; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, John and Marge Palmer of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, a son in law, 6 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 from St. Charles Catholic Church with Lorraine McGuiness, Pastoral Administrator officiating. Interment took place in Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, beside her husband, Joseph. Vigil prayers were held on Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions were suggested to St. Charles Catholic Church.

Margaret Lea Sawade
November 26, 1925 - November 11, 2004

Margaret Lea Sawade, age 78, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Desert Pavilion Nursing Home in Casa Grande, Arizona. Maggie was born on November 26, 1925 in Mannington, West Virginia, the daughter of Charles Edward and Dolly (Norris) Yost. On May 31, 1957, she married Clarence Sawade in Indiana.
Margaret was the office manager for Sawade Drilling Company for many years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant, and enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends. She also enjoyed activities at the Senior Center, and antiquing.
Maggie is survived by her husband, Clarence; children: Sally (Matt) Aldrich of Chandler, AZ, Don (Tammi) Sawade of Casa Grande, AZ, Mark (Roxann) Sawade of Lake Isabella, MI, Bob (Lisa) Sawade of Port Orchard, WA, and James Sawade of Blanchard, MI; a sister, Leona Hoot of Franklin, TN; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Memorial funeral services were held on Friday, November 19, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Ivan Odor officiating. Interment of the cremated remains took place in Riverside cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions were suggested to a hospice of the donors choice.

Eleanor V. Starkweather
November 13, 1916 - November 6, 2004

Eleanor V. Starkweather, age 87, of Winn, Michigan, was called to her Eternal Rest in Christ on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at her home in Winn. She was born November 13, 1916 in Fremont Township, Isabella County, Michigan, the daughter of William W. and Althea (Riggle) Curtiss.
On January 6, 1949, she and John Starkweather were married in Shepherd, Michigan. Eleanor was employed at Ferro Manufacturing Company for 17 years in the payroll department. She retired from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe as the Fiscal Officer.
Eleanor was a member of the Winn United Methodist Church and was Past Matron and Life Member of the Winn Chapter 377 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a wonderful caring mother and grandmother. Eleanor was always putting others first. She cherished her friends and loved her birds and flowers.
Eleanor is survived by three children, Valarie and Charles Fishbeck of Gaylord, Karen and Darrol Parks of Commerce Township, and Walter Starkweather of Bay City; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Cygan of Lansing; and a sister in law, Doris Thomson of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on June 16, 1978; and a brother and his wife, Woodrow and Agnes Curtiss.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. from the Winn United Methodist Church with Rev. Paulette Cheyne officiating. Interment took place at Union cemetery, Winn, Michigan, next to her husband, John. Memorial contributions were suggested to Hospice of Central Michigan or to the Winn United Methodist Church.

Virginia E. Howe
March 27, 1936 -- November 4, 2004

Virginia E. Howe, age 92, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at her home with her family at her side. Virginia was born on August 31, 1912, in Adrian, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Edith (Kennedy) Schneider. She married Orie E. Howe on March 27, 1936 in Indiana. Orie preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.
Virginia was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed tending to the needs of her family. She loved cooking, working in her flower gardens, and making craft items. She was an active member of the Calla Rebekah Lodge for many years, holding many offices.
Survivors include her two daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Neubecker of Clare, and Patricia Howe of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Michael (Deborah) Neubecker of Canton, MI, Mark Neubecker of Fenton, MI, Kelly Neubecker of Denver, CO, and Chad Neubecker of Scottsdale, AZ; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Allison Neubecker; and one sister, Iola Archbold of Harrison, MI. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, her sister Naoma Kigar, and her brother, James Schneider.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Novembr 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home with Rev. John Boley of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Gardens cemetery beside her husband, Orie. Friends gathered with the family at the Helms Funeral Home on Sunday, November 7 from 1-5 p.m.. Friends desiring to make a memorial contribution in memory of Virginia, may wish to consider Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.

Roy Arthur Estep
September 18, 1926 - October 30, 2004

Roy Arthur Estep, age 78, of Shepherd, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at his home in Greendale Township, Midland County, Michigan. Roy was born on September 18, 1926 in Griffithsyville, Lincoln County, West Virginia. On June 16, 1951, he married Dolores Yost in the Oil City Assembly of God Church. He was a longtime area resident.
Roy was retired from DOW Chemical, where he was employed as a stationary fireman for 45 years. He was a member of the Oil City Assembly of God Church and was on the church Board of Directors, a member of Local 12075 District 29 U.S.W.A from 1945 to 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Roy was also on the Greendale Township Board, the Greendale School Board, and was a life time member of the NRA. He was a licensed private pilot, an Amateur Radio Operator, and a HAM-Emergency Weather Spotter. He enjoyed deer hunting with his sons-in-law and his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; 3 daughters: Julia (Keith) Beach of Battle Creek, MI, Jean (Gordon) Joslin of Sanford, MI, and Rachel Estep of Battle Creek. Also survived by 4 grandchildren: Adam (Amanda) Beach, Andrea Beach, Joseph Joslin, and Trenton Joslin; and 2 sisters: Catherine Banner of Midland, and Marilyn Workley of Warsaw, IN. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Rev. James Estep, and 2 sisters, Yvonne Boyer and Evonne Farrison. Memorial contributions in memory of Roy, were suggested to the Building Funds for the Coleman Assembly of God Church, the Oil City Assembly of God Church, or to the Midmichigan Visiting Nurses Association.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. from the Helms Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Marsh and Rev. James Reamsa officiating. Interment took place in Kelly cemetery, Greendale Township, Midland County. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Adaleva Annette Harrison
March 20, 1911 - October 28, 2004

Adeleva Annette Harrison, age 93, of Remus, Michigan passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant. Adaleva was born on March 20, 1911 in Coral, Michigan, the daughter of Earl Miller Brown and Edith May (Kendig) Brown. On January 25, 1942, she married Lyle Eugene Harrison in Barryton, Michigan. She was a lifetime resident of the area.
Adeleva taught High School English at Perrinton and Chesaning Schools and also taught Journalism in High School. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant and the book club. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle on February 1, 1997; a brother, Weldon Brown; and a sister, Edith Baughman.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant with Mr. Mark Christian officiating. Interment took place in Strong cemetery, Remus, Michigan, beside her husband, Lyle. Memorial contributions were suggested to the First Church of Christ, Great Lakes Christian College, or the CMU Campus Ministry.
