Marion Janet Jennings
November 21, 1936 - December 31, 2005

Marion Janet Jennings of Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital at 69 years of age.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Helms Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Ortiz officiating. Interment will be in Two Rivers cemetery.
Friends may gather with Marions family on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and an hour before the funeral on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the family or to Back Porch Pickers, envelopes are available at Helms Funeral Home.
Marion was born in Isabella County on Saturday, November 21, 1936. She was the daughter of Donald and Mary (Esch) Swan; and was a lifetime area resident. She had been employed on the clerical staff at CMU. She was a member of the Back Porch Pickers and was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame.
Marion is survived by a son, Dennis (Pamela) Carr of Midland; five grandchildren: Michael (Tiffany) Leiter, Jason Leiter, Karen (Keith) Leinberger, Nicolette Carr and Donald (Katy) Carr; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, George Swan of Mt. Morris and sisters: Helen (Roger) Trevisoil of Corvallis, Oregon, Sharon (Donald) Inman of Saginaw, Michigan, and Sally (Walter) Howe of Roxboro, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roy Swan and a daughter Janet.

Margaret Dorothy Suntken
October 5, 1929 - December 23, 2005

Margaret Dorothy Suntken, age 76, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 23, 2005 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.
A memorial service will be held for Margaret in June of 2006.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the charity of the donors choice, envelopes are available at Helms Funeral Home, 330 S. University Ave., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.
Margaret was born on Saturday, October 5, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Maitland and Dorothy (Green) Cudney.
Margaret was a resident of the Grand Ledge and Sunfield, Michigan area. She played guitar and was lead vocal in her own country music band.
Margaret is survived by her children: Christine Marie Langham, Eric Langham, Susan Langham, Cynthia Langham, Bill Langham, Angie Klingensmith, Michelle Klingensmith, Lydia (Suntken) Martinez; brother: Jim Cudney; sisters: Pat Brace and Mary Havens; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Maitland and Dorothy Cudney; a sister: Shirley; and three brothers: Bill, Bud, and Jim.

James Harold Smith
April 9, 1935 - December 19, 2005

James Harold Smith, age 70, of Carson City, Michigan passed away Monday, December 19, 2005 at his home in Crystal Michigan.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. With Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating. Interment will be in Coomer cemetery.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. and for an hour before the funeral service on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the needs of the family.
James was born on Tuesday, April 9, 1935 in Chippewa Township, Isabella County the son of Ronald and Violet (Russell) Smith.
James lived in the Carson City area for the last fifty years. He worked for Univ Am-Cam as a truck driver.
James is survived by his children: Constance Lynn (Jack) Billings, David Lee (Linda) Smith, Corienne Kaye Smith and Craig Cochran, Douglas Gene (Sheryl) Parrish, Bonnie Kay (Russell) Hanson; mother: Violet Smith; brother: Richard (Bernice) Smith; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald; and brothers: Larry and Walt.

Donna (Weston) Schafer
April 10, 1957 - December 17, 2005

Donna (Weston) Schafer, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt went to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Donna spent her life in the Mt. Pleasant and Shepherd area. She was a dedicated LPN who touched many peoples lives. Her first and greatest love was her family and, even in dying, her first thought was to ease the pain of others.
She will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Helms Funeral Home With Pastor Bill Foldesi officiating. Interment will be in Salt River cemetery.
Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, December 19, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Helms Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Cancer Services, Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund or Hospice of Central Michigan.
Donna was born on Wednesday, April 10, 1957 the daughter of Kenneth and Shirley (McLachlin) Weston, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Dennis Schafer on September 25, 1981 in Beal City, Michigan. She was a lifetime member of Coomer Methodist Church.
Donna is survived by her husband, Dennis; children: Megan, Jordan, Travis, and Trevor; father: Kenneth Weston; father and mother-in-law: Francis and Theresa Schafer; brothers-in-law: Dale Schafer (Deanna Potter), Duane (Jana) Schafer; sisters: Denise Noyes and Deb (Bill) Foldesi; sisters-in-law: Jane (Jim) Agren and Lynn (Ken) Massey.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley (McLachlin) Weston; brothers: Dale Weston and Raymond Weston; brothers-in-law: Rick Noyes and Doug Schafer.

Ivan Warren Teeple
August 15, 1940 - December 15, 2005

Ivan Warren Teeple, age 65, of Lake City, Michigan passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his home.
A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, MI with Fr. Don Wright of St. Stephens Catholic Church officiating. interment will follow at Memorial Gardens cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, December 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home and on Sunday, December 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Monday, December 19 from 10 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Ivan was born on Thursday, August 15, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan the son of Roger Warren and Ruth Henrietta (Norman) Teeple.
He married San Juanita Franco on August 22, 1986 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Ivan was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area since 1983, and of the Lake City area for the last 3 years. Ivan worked as a Resident Care Aid for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center from 1983 2002. He also worked at the Newberry, Michigan Facility from 1976 - 1981. His hobbies and interests were motorcycle racing, fishing, hunting, golf, scuba diving, snow skiing, tubing, bowling, deep sea fishing while serving in the U.S. Navy, grilling, grandchildren, and was an Artist. He hated yard work because it took time away from fishing. Ivan served as a Cryptology Technician Second Class while in the U.S. Navy from 1958 1962. He served on Midway Island and taught Cryptanalysis during his Navy time. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Lake City.
He is survived by his wife, San Juanita, children: Lora and Dan Odykirk of Mt. Pleasant, Joseph and Rhonda Simpson of Canton, MI, Doug W. Teeple of Killeen, TX, Roger of Georgia, Tracy of Georgia, and Ivan Teeple, Jr. of Grand Haven, MI; brother Bruce Teeple of Metamora, MI; Sisters: Mary McGlashen of Waterford, MI and Claudia Ash and Larry of Lake City, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Amos Jackson
August 28, 1936 - December 8, 2005

Amos Jackson, age 69, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at his home. Amos was born on Friday, August 28, 1936 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, the son of Albert and Melvina (Peters) Jackson.
Amos was a tool and die maker, working for Williams Form Engineering in Grand Rapids, Michigan for many years, and also worked at Fisher Body on Lansing, Michigan for many years. He was a member of the Walpole Island First Nation Indian Tribe. He attended the Indian Methodist Church in Rosebush when he was young. He was a graduate of Beal City High School, where he participated in athletics, and won many trophies running track. When he was younger, he enjoyed making baskets.
Survivors include his children: Sandra A. Jackson of Mt. Pleasant and Amos Jackson, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; his former spouse, Celia Osawabine of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren: Faith and Jonah Osawabine, Lawrence Farris, and Krystal Jackson; four great grandchildren: Jayden, Joy Love, and Nevaeh Osawabine, and MacKenzie Allbee; two brothers: John Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, and Silas Jackson of Muskegon, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Elsie Storres.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment took place in Woodland cemetery, Rosebush, Michigan.

Norman James LaBonte
August 2, 1958 - November 28, 2005

Norman James LaBonte, age 47, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on November 28, 2005.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday December 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Marys University Parish with Fr. Jeff Donner officiating. Friends may gather with the family prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the needs of the family.
Norman was born in Calumet, Michigan on Saturday, August 2, 1958 the son of Norman Roy and Alice (Garon) LaBonte. Norman was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area most of his life.
He worked as an Electronics Technician Service Engineer for Varian Oncology Systems. Norman loved motorcycling, music (especially guitar playing). He had a gifted wit and sense of humor. Norman made anatomical gifts to help other people after his death.
He is survived by his parents: Norman LaBonte of Apache Junction, Arizona, Alice LaBonte of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; two brothers: Gregory LaBonte of Calumet, Michigan and Joel (Shari) LaBonte of Shepherd, Michigan; and a niece Heather LaBonte.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Phyllis May Post
February 24, 1926 - November 27, 2005

Phyllis May Post, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 27, 2005.
Phyllis was born February 24, 1926 in Bedford, England. She married Charles Stanley Post on May 18, 1946 in England after WWII and they were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Charles predeceased Phyllis on June 6, 2005.
Phyllis was a member of the Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary 3033. She was a dedicated employee of Robaires Bakery for almost forty (40) years. Everyone admired Phyllis talent with her needlepoint and embroidering.
Her three (3) year battle with cancer was fought with dignity and courageousness. Although she felt she was a nuisance to her four (4) devoted daughters, she was really their hero!
Phyllis is survived by her four (4) daughters, Ann (Edward) Hill of Norfolk, Virginia, Wendy (Robert Don) Kirby of Coldwater Lake, Michigan, Linda (Gerald) Poe of Tipton, Michigan and Dora (Edward) Ennen of Holt, Michigan, seven grandsons; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, June Sherwood of Lancashire, England and a sister-in-law, Margaret Gardner of Sheffield, England. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, four brothers and a granddaughter.
Per Phyllis wishes, there will be no funeral service, only a private family prayer service on Thursday. Cremation has taken place.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Norval Morey Cancer Center or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Charles Edward Demrick
January 26, 1925 - November 25, 2005

Charles Edward Demrick, age 80, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on November 25, 2005 at his home.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2005. Interment will take place in Clinton Grove cemetery Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
Charles was born on January 26, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Charles S. and Muriel M. (Benoit) Demrick. Charles was a resident of the Mt. Pleasant area for the past eleven years. He worked as a high school administrator and retired 24 years ago.
Charles is survived by his sister Dorothy Demrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond Ralph Demrick.

Warren Richard Dick Brown
October 2, 1954 - November 21, 2005

Warren Richard Dick Brown, age 51, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2005 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Dick was born on Saturday, October 2, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Elmer Brown and Elizabeth Assmann Burt. Dick spent most of his life in the Mt. Pleasant area, with a period of time in St. Louis, Michigan when he was growing up.
Dick worked as a farmer for several years, and held a variety of other jobs. He enjoyed making model airplanes and motorcycles.
Survivors include his children: Cheryl and Jeff Gear of Mt. Pleasant, and Christopher and Melissa Brown of Mt. Plesant; his father: Elmer Brown of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Kenneth, Courtnie, Caleb, Brandon, Jeffery, Kaitlynn, and Kennedy; and two sisters: Judy and George Logan of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, and Mary and Scott Bryhan of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Burt, and a brother, Mark Brown.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Riverside cemetery in Mt.Pleasant with Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating.
