Curtiss, Richard F. "Dick"
June 9, 1930 - November 30, 2002

Richard F. Curtiss, age 72, of Weidman, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002, at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral Services for Richard will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Marvin Eldridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery in Weidman.

The family will receive friends today, December 2nd from 3-9 p.m. and also on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Richard was born June 9, 1930 the son of Howard and Ruth (Underwood) Curtiss. Richard married Joyce Ann Wilcox on May 22, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard owned and operated a gas, oil and milk hauling service for 50 years in Isabella County. He was a member of the Weidman Businessmen Assoc. and a life member of the Masonic Wabon Lodge #282. Richard enjoyed working and serving for the greater good of Isabella County. He was appointed to the Steering Committee that had a great impact on obtaining various new county buildings throughout the city. Richard was a member of the MI Assoc. of Counties. He was elected into his 20th year serving as Isabella Co. Commisioner. Five of those years he served as Chairman and two as Vice Chairman. Richard also served on the Health Board for 15 years and chaired it for 12 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce Curtiss of Weidman; a son Michael (Vickie) Curtiss of Lake; granddaughter, Mandy Curtiss of Lake; a very special friend Jill (Joe) Steffke of Weidman; two brothers, Eugene (Charlene) Curtiss of Yuma, AZ and Max (Judy) Curtiss of Winn, one sister, Donna (Dennis) Carr of Weidman; and a sister-in-law, Leota Curtiss of Lake.

Richard was preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother John Curtiss and a sister Evelyn Curtiss.

Marshall, Bond Lawrence
December 18, 1984 - November 28, 2002

Bond Marshall, age 17, also known by his family as “Scooby Doo,” of Mt. Pleasant went to be with his Lord after a courageous 10-year fight with Leukemia, peacefully at home with his friends and family by his side, on Thursday, November 28th, 2002.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd, at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Dale Freed of New Life Ministry and Pastor Ron Helzerman of Lighthouse Baptist Church will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Bond Marshall Memorial Fund, Children’s Leukemia Foundation, or Make a Wish Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Bond was born December 18, 1984 in Roseville, California the son of Stewart Marshall and Chrystal (Townsend) Marshall. Bond loved and had a very special relationship with his sisters. He loved video games, computers, deer hunting, and his dirt bike. His truck was his pride and joy. Bond also enjoyed hanging out with many of his friends.

Bond is survived by his parents, Stewart Marshall of Vestaburg and Chrystal (Dan) Marshall of Mt. Pleasant, his sisters, Carrie, Elisabeth, Sarah, and Taylor all of Mt. Pleasant, his grandparents, Lawrence (Nancy) Marshall of Vestaburg, great-grandmother Bessie Galvin of Mt. Pleasant, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Michigan and California.

Bond was preceded in death by: his grandmother, Willetta Wilson, and great-grandfather, Bond Marshall who he was named after.

Klunzinger, Louise Geraldine
December 1, 1919 - November 26, 2002

Louise Geraldine Klunzinger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 26th , 2002.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 29th at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. Dr. Stephen F. Shugert of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Louise was born December 01, 1919 in Paulding, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry Pety and Suzanne A. (Brysselbout) Pety. Louise married Leonard A. Klunzinger on October 21, 1939 and resided in the Mt. Pleasant area. Louise loved camping, crafting and traveling with her best friend, her husband Leonard. Most of all she cherished her family and friends.

Louise is survived by her loving husband, Leonard A. Klunzinger of Mt. Pleasant; her children, Bill (Marlene) Klunzinger of Phoeniz, AZ, Charles (Carol) Klunzinger of Littleton, CO, Paul (Nancy) Klunzinger of Mt. Pleasant, Linda Herreshoff of Menlo Park, CA and Gary (Debora) Klunzinger of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Lori (Dave) Hillman, Chris Klunzinger, Scott (Corina) Klunzinger, Mike Klunzinger, Tonya (Brett) Cummins, Billy Klunzinger, Nicole (Eric) Bircher, Jeff Klunzinger, Kellie Klunzinger, Kim Klunzinger, Tiffany Klunzinger, Marissa (Pat) Andres, Ryan Klunzinger, Joshua Herreshoff, Nadja Herreshoff, Lana Klunzinger; great-grandchildren, Tarra Hillman, Chad Hillman, Lehanna Klunzinger, Hunter Cummins, Haden Cummins, Kole Andres.

Louise was preceded in death by: both parents, 5 brothers and two sisters.

Burns, Chad Michael
February 28, 1986 - November 25, 2002

Chad Michael Burns, age 16, of Mt. Pleasant, loving son and brother passed away on Monday November 25, 2002, as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral Services for Chad will be held on, Friday, November 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Pastor Ron Ives will officiate with interment in the Chippewa Township cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 28, from 5-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burns family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Chad was born February 28, 1986 the son of Donald K. Burns and Peggy J. (Grove) Burns. Chad has resided in the Mt. Pleasant area since 1996. He worked as a stock boy at Blodgett Oil in Oil City. He was a Junior at Shepherd High School.

Chad is survived by his parents, Donald K. Burns of Bay City and Peggy J. (Grove) Burns of Mt. Pleasant; four brothers Steven Burns of Murfreesboro, TN, Andrew Burns of Bay City, Donald Burns of Midland, Todd Burns of Mt. Pleasant; one sister Barbara Burns of Murfreesboro, TN.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack K. Burns, Betty J. Burns, Donald L. Grove and Eleanor E. Grove.

Roberts, Verna M.
April 1, 1911 - November 24, 2002

Verna Marie Roberts, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. The family thanks the aides, nurses and maintenance people at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility for their compassionate and loving caregiving.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John Boley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility, the Salvation Army, or the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Verna was born April 1, 1911, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Asa and Alice (Hicks) Funderburk. She married Carl Roberts in Detroit who preceded her in death. Verna graduated from high school and business school in Chicago, IL. She was a homemaker, restaurant owner and office manager. In her retirement she fulfilled her dream of training and working in the nursing field.

Verna is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Don) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant and Beverly (Norm) Weitkum of Racine, WI; grandchildren David (Beth) Johnson, Jon (Kathy) Johnson, Leigh (Steve) Ostrander, Mark (Deborah) Weitkum, Christy Weitkum; great-grandchildren Amanda, Jessica, Jillian, and Kelly Johnson, Benjamin and Lisa Ostrander, Michael, Steven and Erin Weitkum and Joshua Bressan; and one sister Grace Gamble of Crete, IL.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Carl, granddaughter Debra McDonald, great-grandson Jason McDonald, sisters Bessie Hicks, Nellie Williams, Goldie Cress, Opal Matthews and brother Elmer Funderburk.

Cumpton, Helen Louise
June 18, 1923 - November 24, 2002

Helen Louise Cumpton, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Helen will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel. Rev. Nathan Bloomfield will officiate with interment in the Riverside cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday, November 27, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Helen was born June 18, 1923, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Weathers) Enwright. She resided in the Mt. Pleasant area. She worked as a switchboard operator and also cooked at Central Michigan Community Hospital along with different sororities and fraternities.

Helen is survived by her five daughters, Donna Kussman of Milford, Ohio, Linda Cortani of Evansville, Indiana, Carol (Dennis) Luck of Lyons, Kansas, Billie (Alvaro) Larios of Porterville, California, and Sherry (John) Adams-Sytek of Mt. Pleasant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Smith of Covington, Kentucky.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, George Enwright, son, Fred Henry in 1981, mother, Evelyn Weathers, and first husband, Everett Henry.

Lueder, Ralph
, - August 9, 2003

Ralph Lueder of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Clark Funeral Chapel.

Mogg, Enola K. (Daut)
July 17, 1918 - August 8, 2003

Enola K. Mogg, 85, of Rosebush, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Midland.

Funeral Services for Enola will be held on Monday, August 11, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michelle LaMew officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, from 6-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Enola was born July 17, 1918, in Rosebush, the daughter of Floyd and Della Mae (Gardner) House. She married Elmo Mogg in October 1940 and in 1945 they moved to a farm in Vernon Township and have lived there since. Enola was a homemaker all her life. She was a member of the Rosebush United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Enola is survived by her husband, Elmo L. Mogg and two children Mignon (Larry) Laverty of
Farwell, Mark (Janice) Mogg of Rosebush, a sister-in-law Yvonne House; brothers-in-law Harold (Helen) Mogg, Keith (Margaret) Mogg and Murray (Bonnie) Mogg. Five grandchildren survive her also, Jennifer (Greg) Sautter, Allison (David) Rea, Steve (Monique) Laverty, Darin and Lesley Mogg, and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Isabel Sautter.

Enola was preceded in death by brother Earl and brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Ellen Mogg.

Pickens, Albert
September 10, 1900 - August 3, 2003

Albert Pickens, 102, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2003, at the Wooden Rocker Adult Foster Care.

Funeral Services for Albert will be held on Wednesday, August 6, at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Vredeveld officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, from 4-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Albert was born September 10, 1900, in Pleasant Valley, MI, the son of Leslie and Martha (Vliet) Pickens. He was married to Beatrice Pickens who preceded him in death in 1980. Albert had owned and worked as a mechanic at Pickens Sales & Service, which was Willies and Jeep dealership and garage. He was a volunteer for the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department for over 20 years, during which he was the fire chief for 2 years. Albert had a great love for the outdoors and particularly enjoyed fishing and bear, deer, bobcat, and coon hunting. He was active as a coach with the girls softball program.

Albert is survived by his children, Phyllis (Bill) Taylor of Brimley, Ernestine Pohl of Beal City, L.J. Pickens of Mt. Pleasant, Gale (Sue) Pickens of Tacoma, WA, and Tracey (Richard) Ullom of Coleman; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-granchildren.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice; grandson Robert Pickens, great-granddaughter Jamie Lynn; daughter-in-law Della Pickens; son-in-law Richard Pohl; 4 brothers RV, Clifford, Homer and Lavend Pickens; 3 sisters, Edith Pickens, Joy Barnes, and Vera Swartz.

Ryckman, Thomas Henry
July 2, 1960 - August 1, 2003

Thomas Henry Ryckman, 43, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2003, at his uncle’s home.

Funeral services for Thomas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Sam Weiderhold officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, August 5, at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot County Hospice.

Thomas is survived by his parents, Earl Ryckman of Morrill, Nebraska and Mary Kaye Clark of Fort Myers, Florida; fiancee, Lisa Van Horn; children, Amanda Ryckman, Angel Ryckman, Travis Langlois amd Shelby Ryckman; 1 Grandchild; brother, Bobby Joe (Trisha) Ramsey of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Rhonda I. Andrews of Detroit and Calla Rose Silobozian of Texas; grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Shanks of Panama City, Florida; Uncle Archie and Aunt Carol Shanks of Mt. Pleasant and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his grandmother, Emma Irene Shanks and Hazel Ryckman Sabian.

Billsby, Cora "Corky" Lou
July 19, 1932 - August 1, 2003

Cora “Corky” Lou Billsby, 71, of Shepherd, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2003, at Gratiot Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Corky will be held on Monday, August 4, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Obrecht of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will take place in Chippewa Township cemetery in Isabella County.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, August 3, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Cora was born July 19, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Ray and Vera (Hardgrove) Foster. She married her husband Buhl on November 11, 1950. Corky had worked for Ferro Manufacturing as a general laborer for 11 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, crafts, and crocheting. Corky loved to visit and help the residents of Pine River Nursing Home. She had a heart of gold and helped many relatives and friends. She will be remembered as a second Mom and adopted Grandmother by many.

Corky is survived by her husband Buhl; children Earl R. (Deborah) Billsby of Shepherd and Steven J. (Fran) Billsby of Strasburg, CO; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Craig and Chris Billsby; 1 brother Roger Foster of Henderson Lake, and 1 sister Trudy Gable of Evart.

Corky was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cresh, Edith, Mary, Bert, Agnes and brothers Joe and Raymond.
