Decker, Norma Nadine
March 25, 1933 - August 1, 2003

Norma Nadine Decker, 70, of Blanchard, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2003, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Services for Norma will be held on Monday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne Boughan of Trinity Wesleyan Church-Remus officiating. Interment will take place in Decker cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, from 4-8 pm. and Sunday, August 3, from 2-5 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church-Remus. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Norma was born March 25, 1933, in Blanchard, the daughter of John and Marian (Griffis) Moss. She married Frank Wellington Decker, Jr., in Millbrook, Michigan. Norma was a homemaker. She was a life member of the Six Lakes VFW Post and a charter member of the Blanchard VFW Post 11161. Norma was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church-Remus.

Norma is survived by her husband Frank Decker, Jr.; children Terry Lee Decker (Mary) of Barryton, Debra Kay Decker (Larry) of Remus, Frank “Sam” W. Decker III (Sheila) of Columbus, OH, David Michael Decker of Blanchard; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Don Moss (Shirley) of Covington, IN, Gordon Moss (Dixie) of LaFollette, TN, and Edmund Currier, Jr. of Harrison; and sister Connie Lillie (Tom) of Harrison.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Wing, Dwaine
July 14, 1919 - July 29, 2003

Dwaine Wing, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at his home.

Funeral Services for Dwaine will be held on Friday, August 1 at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Golden officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st , from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Dwaine was born July 14, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Fred and Erna (Smith) Wing. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1944. After World War II Dwaine started a used automotive parts business and ran Wings Auto Parts for many years. He also constructed 9 new homes in the Mt. Pleasant area.
On May 25, 1944 Dwaine married Edna Burris, she preceded him in death in 1989.
On October 17, 1998 Dwaine married Marth DeFoy.
Dwaine bowled on a bowling league for many years and also sponsored many racecars.

Dwaine is survived by his wife, Martha of Mt. Pleasant, children, Richard Wing of Mt. Pleasant and Judy (Vic) Jeffrey of Weidman. Stepchildren, June Scheall of St. Louis, Bill (Donna) Scheall of Lake, Rosetta (Orville) Smith of Lake George, Rick (Sandy) DeFoy of Clare, Mick (Kathy) DeFoy of Weidman, Angela (Ahmed) Elganbihy of New Jersey. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
1 brother, Milo (Beulah) Wing – Mt. Pleasant, 1 sister, Bessie (Harold) Snyder of Winn, MI.

Dwaine was preceded in death by 1st wife Edna in 1989, 2 brothers, Walter and Earl, 1 daughter Beverly Schutt, 1 daughter in law, Elizabeth “Sue” Wing, Grandson Michael Jeffrey.

Ohms, Gary William
October 1, 1957 - July 25, 2003

Gary William Ohms, 45, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Gary will be held on Monday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Freel of Chippewa Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, July 28, from 12 p.m. until the time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Gary was born on October 1, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Earl W. Ohms and Betty Mae (Beal) Ohms. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1975 and Delta College. Gary worked at Mid Michigan Industries as a connection coach for the past seven years and had previously worked as a radio announcer for WCEN. He was a member of the Chippewa Baptist Church and enjoyed Star Trek, radio record collections, interest music and science fiction books.

Gary is survived by his parents, Earl and Betty Ohms; grandmother, Rosie Ohms; brother, Terry A. Ohms; sister, Kathy M. Ohms; aunts and uncles Jack and Nancy Robinson, Donna Robert, Gene and Mary Ohms, Tom and Mary Moore of Fenton, Milan and Dot Johnson of Memphis, TN and 13 cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by Boyd and Helen Beal, Lon Ohms and cousins, Dale Robert and Jean Pittsley.

Norman, Keitha C. (Mills)
May 7, 1935 - July 24, 2003

Died July 24, 2003 in Owosso, at the home of her son.

She was born in Mason, Michigan on May 7, 1935 to Richard and Clarice Bailey Mills. Keitha graduated from Mason High School (1953) and Mercy School of Nursing-St. Lawrence Unit (1956). She wed Dr. Charles G. Norman on August 31, 1957.

Upon graduation from nurse’s training, she was employed at the Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where she was head nurse of the General Surgery Clinic, while her husband attended dental school. Upon moving to Mt. Pleasant, she worked for CMCH and Dr. Dan Dean. Her final years as a nurse were spent as a supervisor for Upjohn Home Healthcare Services. After her retirement as a nurse, she worked in the pharmacy at Meijers in Mt. Pleasant until her death.

Keitha was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Dr. Charles G. Norman. Surviving are her son, Dr. Charles G. (Crescent) Norman II of Owosso, and their two children, Jacqueline D. and Charles G. Norman III, and sister Suzanne H. (Donovan) Riley of Mason. Surviving too are very dear friends, “Big Sister” Beverly Hubbard of Mason, Pete and Shirley Haas of Mt. Pleasant and surrogate family, James and Candy Stockel of Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services for Keitha will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Kirk Mahan from the First Presbyterian Church of Mason officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, from 7-9 p.m. and from 12 noon until time of service on Tuesday at Clark Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richard and Clarice Mills Scholarship Fund, at First Presbyterian Church of Mason, 131 E. Maple St., Mason, MI 48854, Gilda’s Club, 322 Eighth Ave. Ste. 1402, New York, NY 10001 or Owosso Memorial Healthcare Hospice Program, 1480 N. M-52, Owosso, MI 48867. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Tyler, Richard James
June 22, 1920 - July 21, 2003

Richard James Tyler, 83, of Weidman passed away Monday, July 21, 2003 at his Coldwater Lake home.

Funeral Services for Richard will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24 at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brian Wickes officiating. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Weidman United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Richard was born June 22, 1920 in Gratiot County, the son of James Lee and Bessy Tyler. He married Mary Elizabeth Mullet on April 25, 1970 at the Church of God in St. Louis, MI. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces 58th Bomb Squad and spent most of his service time in the South Pacific. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theather Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, 1 Service Stripe, 7 Overseas Service Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed at Ferro Stamping Company in Mt. Pleasant and a life member of the Moose Lodge #195. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was loved very much by his family and will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Linda (Lynn) Wight (Richard) of Weidman, John Tyler (Laurie) of Mt. Pleasant and Robert Wilson (Mary) of Canton: 10 grandchildren: 4 great-grandchilren; brother, Roger Higgins (Darlene) of Ohio: sister, Virginia Scranton of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and child Larry Wilson.

Kerby Young, Shirley Jeanne
October 9, 1939 - July 19, 2003

Shirley Jeanne Kerby Young, 63, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A private Memorial Service for Shirley was held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Marvin Young, 8263 S. Mission Road, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.

Shirley was born October 9, 1939, in Frankfort, MI, but lived in Mt. Pleasant most of her life. Shirley owned and operated an adult foster care home for many years. She also worked for Hospice caring for terminally ill. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, and garage sale. Shirley was a very giving and caring person, always putting others first.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Karen (Matt) Crandall of Mt. Pleasant, Penny Beck of Alma, Gordie (Peggy) Wheeler of Mt. Pleasant, Tami (Rob) Hartupee of Mt. Pleasant and Billy (Jullaine) Wheeler of Mt. Pleasant, and Rachelle (Randy) Rouse of Vestaburg; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Eugene (Beth) Kerby of Beulah, Darlene (Bryce) Gray of Honor, Barbara (Larry) West of Empire, Frederick (Dorothy) Kerby of Benzonia, Maria (Jack) Shippey of St. Johns, Wayne Kerby of Mt. Pleasant, Debra (Dennis) Kietzman of Jackson, and Kimberly (Scott) Mead of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law Connie Kerby of St. Johns and brother-in-law Kenneth Carpenter of Jackson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Edwin W. Kerby and mother, Marie E. Kerby Wrzenski; step-father, Clarence Wrzenski, mother-in-law, Oralee Hubble; brother, Thomas Kerby; sister, Cheryl Carpenter, and 2 nephews and 1 niece.

Gepford, Joseph William
May 20, 1957 - July 18, 2003

Joseph William Gepford, 46, of Weidman, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 18, 2003, at his home.

Funeral Services for Joseph will be held on Monday, July 21, at 1 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel, with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Joseph was born May 20, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of William and Susanna (Klein) Gepford. He worked in the construction field for Anllan Corporation. Joseph was very involved in his children’s sporting activities. He enjoyed old cars and collecting antiques. He built his own Harley motorcycle from parts. Joseph belonged to a pool league in Beal City.

Joseph is survived by his children, Alicia Gepford of Mt. Pleasant and Josh, Jacob, and Travis Gepford, all of Weidman, his parents William and Susanna Gepford; and his sisters Luanne (David) Renteria of Jackson and Lisa (Rich) Keene of Mt. Pleasant; and brother Steven Gepford of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by a son Nathan James; his grandparents Herbert and Rose Gepford and Susanna and Harry Klein.

Straus, Joyce Therese
August 18, 1926 - July 17, 2003

Joyce Therese Straus passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2003, at her home in Weidman.

A Funeral Mass for Joyce will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Fr. John Cotter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, from 2-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, July 19, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Joseph the Worker Church. There will be a prayer service on Friday at 7 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Joyce was born on August 18, 1926, in Detroit, the daughter of Louis and Alice Eva (Mills) Voisin. She married Stephen H. Straus on Tuesday, September 2, 1947. Joyce was employed as a custodian for Central Michigan University until her retirement.

Joyce is survived by her children Richard Straus of Eastpointe, Thomas Straus, Harold Straus, Rhoda Ann Straus, and Michael (Evelyn) Straus, all of Weidman; 2 grandchildren Kelley Ann Straus and Christy (Noel) Losee; 2 great-grandchildren Aaron and Lauren Losee; sister Leona Riley of Weidman, dear friend and sister-in-law Dorothea Ignash, and sister-in-law Dee Voisin, and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Stephen, son Casey, and infant daughter Eva Marie, and brothers John Glenn, Louis, LaVern, and Patrick Voisin.

Packwood, June S.
May 23, 1915 - July 16, 2003

June S. Packwood, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2003.

Funeral Services for June will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 1 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 South Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant, with Rev. Krehton Cullimore officiating. Interment will follow in Two Rivers cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m. until time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel.

June was born on May 23, 1915, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of George and Inez (Holloway) Secor. On December 14, 1933, she married Clarence A. Packwood who preceded her in death in 1972. June had worked as a waitress.

June is survived by her children, Ronald Packwood (Noriyo) of Harrison, Joyce Persales (Roy) of Gladwin, Ella Thronson (DuWayne) of Harrison, and an adopted daughter Joy Kaczorowski of Mt. Pleasant; 19 grandchildren; 7 adopted grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons Nelson Packwood and Melvin Packwood.

Jones, Jane Marie
March 2, 1926 - July 14, 2003

Jane Marie Jones, 77, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, July 14th, 2003 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Memorial Service for Jane will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at Clark Funeral Chapel with Robert Acker officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Jane was born March 2, 1926 in Northport, MI the daughter of Edwin and Shirley (Gill) Carlson. She married Wallace E. Jones on August 26, 1944 in Northport, MI. Jane worked as secretary for Beal City Public Schools from 1966 until her retirement in 1988. She continued to work at Walmart for several years after her retirement.

Jane is survived by her children, Shirley (Robert) Acker of Davisburg, MI; Carol (James) Calhoun of Northport, MI; Loretta (Dale) Hamill of Nashville, TN; Dianne Lough of Winn, MI and Terri Yarnick of Weidman, MI; Eleven Grandchildren; Eight Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Loretta (Michael) Ouwerkerk of Traverse City, MI and sister-in-law, Helen Parker of Mt. Pleasant.

Jane was preceded in death by her Husband, Wallace Edward Jones on June 16, 2001 and her parents.

McCallister, Monty Richard
October 6, 1937 - July 14, 2003

Monty Richard McCallister, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2003, at his home.

Funeral Services for Monty will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with The Rev Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Chippewa Twp. cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Monty was born on October 6, 1937, in Breckenridge, the son of Shirley and Lola McCallister. He grew up in the Temple, Michigan, area. Monty was employed as a manager at Western Auto. Monty played guitar and the mandolin and performed in several area bands.

Monty is survived by his children Tim (Linda) McCallister of Summerville, SC, Sherry (Dennis) Dickman of Shepherd, Dave (Hitomi) McCallister of Alma, Deb (Keith) Clark of Englewood, OH, and Doug (Kerrie) McCallister of Mt. Pleasant; and 11 grandchildren.

Monty was preceded in death by both parents and 1 sister, Joanne Kruschinsky.
