Haas, Paul Franklin
September 25, 1956 - June 28, 2003

Paul Franklin Haas, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003, in Bay City.

Funeral Services for Paul will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m. from Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 East Preston, Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Michael Biedenbender officiating. Interment will take place in Chippewa Township cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from 4-6 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, July 3, from 9-10 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church towards the Piano or Addition Fund.

Paul was born September 25, 1956, in Standish, the son of Donald and Coralee (Box) Haas. He married Carol Ann Hindson on June 19, 1982, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. Paul was self-employed as a property manager and also worked for MICTA Corporation. He had previously worked for 13 years at General Motors Truck and Bus. Paul was the Union Township Manager from 1990-1992 and the Chippewa Township Clerk from 1992-2000. He was a member of the UAW and the Michigan Township Association. Paul was very active in Faith Lutheran Church and was a church council member. He was involved with the 4-H CCA in Arenac County. Above all, Paul was a very loved and special Dad.

Paul is survived by his wife, Carol Haas; his children Andrea Carol, Daniel Paul, and Kay Lin Haas; his brothers Allan (Robin) Haas of Lansing, Earl (Diane) Haas of Pontiac; his sisters Penny (Rick) Hess of Lake Orion, Irene (Gary) Mason of Minneapolis, MN, Bethany (John) Andrews, Sr., of Las Vegas, Nancy (Al) Yenior of Sterling, Sharon (Jim) Hiveley of AuGres, and Stacey (Robert) Verdusco of AuGres; and many nieces and nephews.

Bellinger, Cecil Elton
June 21, 1917 - June 26, 2003

Cecil Elton Bellinger, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his home with his family by his side.

Memorial Services for Cecil will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the First United Methodist Church . Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Cecil was born on June 21, 1917, in Lincoln Township, Isabella Co. the son of Howard and Lydia (Sponseller) Bellinger. He married Lillian Recker on February 22, 1938 in Shepherd. Cecil just celebrated his 86th birthday and 65 years of marriage to Lillian. He was employed with Total Refinery for 37 years before his retirement in 1980. Cecil was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 40 years. He enjoyed bird watching, genealogy and was a 4-H leader.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Lillian; children, Marvin (Sally) Bellinger of Mt. Pleasant, Dean (Lynn) Bellinger of Bellingham, WA. and Bonnie (Ronald) Green of Pinebluff, NC.; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Foster, Hilton Wayne
June 2, 1926 - June 26, 2003

Hilton Wayne Foster, age 77, of Lake Isabella passed away on Thursday June 26th at his residence.

Funeral Services for Hilt will be held on Monday June 30th at l l a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Terry I. Nordheim of the Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate with interment in the Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday June 29th from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. and on Monday June 30th from 9 a.m. until time of service at the Clark Funeral Chapel. Those wishing to make a memorial contributions may consider the Mt. Pleasant High School Hall of Fame . Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Hilt was born June 2, 1926 in Millington, Michigan. The son of Orman and Bell Foster. Hilt graduated from high school then went on to Western Michigan University to earn his B.S. degree, he attended Northwestern, Boston College and earned his M.A. from Central Michigan University. Hilt served in the United States Navy during WW II. He married R. Janeen Caswell on June 26, 1950 in Rockford, Michigan. Mr. Foster taught school and coached in Alpena, Sparta, Caledonia, and his long career with the Mt. Pleasant High School. Hilt taught and coached with the Mt. Pleasan School System from 1966 to 1984. After coaching Football at Mt. Pleasant he coached for Alma College 1984 to 1986. Hilt was a member of the Michigan Sport Sages, Michigan High School Coaches Assoc. at C.M.U., and was a member and committee member of the Mt. Pleasant High School Hall of Fame.

Hilton is survived by his children, Kim C. (Donna) Foster of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Kevin W. Foster of Mt. Pleasant, John H. (Karen) Foster of Portland, Maine, and Lyn J. Jackson of Mt. Pleasant. Grandchildren, Amy, Greg, and Eric Foster, Nathan Buckner and Alison Foster, Blake and Kelsey Foster, Lindsey Jackson and Justin Jackson. 1 great grandson, Logan Michael Buckner.2 brothers, Fran Foster of Ca., and Doug Foster of New Zealand, 1 sister Carol of Florida.

Hilton was preceded in death by his wife R. Janeen Foster Feb. 28, 2001.

Bennett, Harley L.
June 12, 1955 - June 25, 2003

Harley L. Bennett, 48, passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2003, at U of M Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

Funeral Services for Harley will be held Saturday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel, Mt. Pleasant, with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon and Rev. Carla Sineway officiating. Interment will take place in Woodland cemetery in Rosebush.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Harley was born on June 12, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the son of Russell Bennett and Elizabeth Judson. Harley worked as an automotive mechanic. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.

Harley is survived be his children Jessie Pontiac of Mt. Pleasant, Glen Bennett and Sandra Bennett, both of Charlevoix; mother Elizabeth Bennett of Mt. Pleasant; brothers Marlin(Shirley) Bennett and Russell Bennett Jr.(Mary Ridgeway), both of Mt. Pleasant; sisters Audrey Bennett and Angela Bennett(Allen Chippeway), both of Mt. Pleasant.

Harley was preceded in death by his father Russell Bennett; brothers, Francis Bennett, David Bennett, Gary Lee Bennett, Glen Dale Bennett and Allen Ronald Bennett and sister Katherine Lucille Assinewai.

Lentner, Winifred M.
January 31, 1914 - June 23, 2003

Winifred M. Lentner, 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, June 23, 2003 at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

A Memorial Service for Winifred will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26th at Clark Funeral Chapel with Deacon John Wilberding officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.

Winifred was born January 31, 1914 in Alma, MI, the daughter of Ernest William and Winnie Blanche (Mull) Klatt. She married Ronald Medler on March 4, 1939 in Alma who preceded her in death. Winifred married Harold Lentner in 1967 in Lansing. She was a long-time member and treasurer of First Church of Christ Scientist of Saginaw. Winifred was also a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her stepson, Timothy (Sandra) Lentner of Maybee, MI; step grandchildren, Amy Lentner, Jeremy Lentner and Gregory Lentner; sister Phyllis R. Devine of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, John Devine Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, David W. (Melinda) Devine and their children Ty and Danielle, all of Alma, Stephen Joynt of Ionia and Thomas Joynt of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; sister Janis Joynt and brother-in-law, John Devine Sr.

Theisen, Barbara Jane
November 1, 1933 - June 18, 2003

Barbara J. Theisen, age 69, of Weidman, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Funeral Mass for Barbara will be held on Friday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City, with Fr. John Cotter officiating. Interment will take place in Two Rivers cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 2 - 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker or the Mid Michigan Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Clark Funeral Chapel.

Barbara was born on November 1, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of James and Evelyn (Coughlin) Radey. She married James Theisen on December 10, 1966. Barbara loved her family. The summer family vacation and Christmas brunch were the two most important days of the year for her. She loved it when her family all get together to have a good time.

Our mother was a person who would always champion the underdog. She was always there to lend an ear to listen, to give good advice and a heart as good as gold. She would never turn a person away. Barbara loved her job at the North Mission Health Care and the women she worked with. Her hobbies were reading, sewing and most importantly spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her husband, James Theisen of Weidman; children, Tony (Julie) Davis of Lansing, LeaAnn (Bill) Rau of Mt. Pleasant, Allen (Joan) Davis of Lake Isabella, Annette (Karl) Gruss of Lake Isabella, Amy (Mike) Cramer of Middleton, Sharon (Perry) Fargo of Beal City and Mark (Lori) Theisen of Weidman; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Thomas Radey and Robbin Stuart of Jackson; sister, Juyne (Tom) McEvoy of Mt. Pleasant father-in-law, Frank Theisen; brothers-in-law Bill Theisen of Weidman, Jack (Marilyn) Theisen of Beal City and Mike (Ruth) Theisen of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Trudy (Harry) Smith and Maggie (Fred) Yuncker both of Beal City.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren and a mother-in-law.

Wing, Elizabeth Sue
October 12, 1948 - June 17, 2003

Elizabeth Sue Wing passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2003.

A Memorial Service will be held at Clark Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 20, at 2 pm. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Elizabeth was born October 12, 1948, to William and Ilene Wohlscheid. She married Richard R. Wing January 8, 1966. Together they had 3 children, Rex and wife Malessa and children Allyson and Nicholas; daughter Tonya and husband Brian Haggart and children Amanda and Justin; daughter Renee and husband Chad Gluch and children Joshua and Ellie Elizabeth. Sue is also survived by 3 brothers, Bill (Linda) of Mt. Pleasant, Ed (Judy) of Texas and Joe (Lesa) of Mt. Pleasant; 9 sisters Terri of Alabama, Margaret (Larry) of Remus, Diane (Darwin) of Alabama, Catherine (Tim) of Charlevoix, Mary (John) of St. Louis, Marcia (Kevin) of Mt. Pleasant, LouAnn (Tim) of Rosebush, Jackie (Russ) of Ohio, Rebecca (Tim) of Mt. Pleasant; Aunts and Uncles Ray and Jan Wohlscheid, Ed and Sharon Wohlscheid, Auntie Ann Wohlscheid, Bruce and Betty Woodbury; sister-in-law Judy Jeffrey (Vic), father-in-law Dwaine Wing (Martha, special friend); and a very best friend who brought much happiness to Sue’s life, Linda Ege. I will miss you.

Sue was predeceased by her father William Wohlscheid whom she loved dearly, Grama and Grampa Lew Woodbury, Grama and Grampa Ed Wohlscheid, mother-in-law Edna Wing, sister-in-law Bev Schutt, Nephews Ethan Stanke and Michael Jeffrey, and much loved Aunt Marge.

In lieu of flowers, which Sue enjoyed many of her whole life, she would very much appreciate donations be made to CMCH Cancer/Oncology Unit (now in progress). Sue worked at CMCH for 34 years and had always been a strong advocate of everything being done at CMCH. Sue loved her job at the Surgery department at CMCH. Most of all, she loved her co-workers.

Sue had many interests: There were not enough hours in the day. She dearly loved her husband Richard, he was her best buddy. She was also just crazy about her 3 children and their spouses and completely taken up with her six beautiful grandchildren, Ally, Nick, Amanda, Justin, Joshua and Ellie Elizabeth, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. She had a passion for all things beautiful, gardening, landscaping, growing veggies. She also had a house full of plants. She enjoyed collecting beautiful dolls. She loved preparing a beautiful meal, and when it comes to cakes, pies, cookies, none were finer. She loved making wedding cakes. She loved helping people – if there was a need, she would do anything in her power to help people (any and all).

When you think of me, please don’t cry! Give someone a sincere smile. Remember, I am probably up there holding a baby, baking a cake, planting flowers, swimming in a pool, fishing by a quiet pond. Please don’t try to call me, I’ve requested no phones in Heaven!

Lorenz, Sr., Donald Nicholas
May 22, 1922 - June 11, 2003

Donald Nicholas Lorenz, Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services for Donald will be held on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Boyce officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the North Star cemetery in Gratiot County.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Donald was born on May 22, 1922, in Beal City, the son of Henry and Lena (Wolshied) Lorenz. He married Hilma Hiffner. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2002. Donald served in the 6th Armored Infantry Division from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded 2 bronze stars and a Purple Heart. Donald began his employment with Pete Mogg’s garage in 1947. He then worked for Bud Hubbel’s Plymouth-Chrysler. In 1957, Donald went to work for Archey’s. Donald attended night school to become a machinist and then began work for Formsprag, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the VFW 3033 Borley-Hanel Post and the DAV-Farwell Post. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Donald is survived by his wife, Hilma; children Donald N. Lorenz, Jr. (Sandra) of Midland, Daniel H. Lorenz (Shari) of Mt. Pleasant, Donita M. Stratton (Eldon) of Vestaburg, Darlene R. Coffell of Mt. Pleasant, and David C. Lorenz (Ronda) of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren, Deborah S. Rider (Dave), D. Nicholas Lorenz III (Reina), Derek A. Lorenz (Julie), Daniel H. Lorenz, Jr., Traci L. McDonald (Paul), Deanna M. Packer (Terry), Rebecca F. Brauher (Robert), Alice M. Stratton, Michael L. Andrews, Danielle M. Andrews, and 12 great-grandchildren; niece Carol Graham (Rommily) of Caledonia.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Clayton Lorenz, 3 sisters Jean Butler, Bernita Lorenz, and Martha Lorenz.

Chippeway, Anthony "Quick Draw"
May 4, 1963 - June 10, 2003

Anthony W. Chippeway, 40, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at his home in Weidman.

Funeral Services for Anthony will be held on Friday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Owen Whitepigeon and Rev. Carla Sineway officiating. Interment will take place in Woodland cemetery in Rosebush.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, from 6 p.m. until time of service on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the Church.

Anthony was born on May 4, 1963 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Lester Sr. and Mary Lynne (Quigno) Chippeway. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Anthony enjoyed beadwork, drawing and painting.

Anthony is survived by his fiancé, Heather Deaton of Weidman; step children, Brian, Miranda and Sean Wagner all of Weidman; parents, Lester Sr. (Mary) Chippeway of Mt. Pleasant and Carl (Deborah) Deaton of Weidman; brothers, Lester Chippeway Jr., Brian (Julie) Chippeway, Allen Chippeway (Angela Bennett) and Sean Chippeway all of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Melissa Chippeway of Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews, Karmen, Samantha and Felicia Chippeway, David Bennett Jr., Gary, Brian Jr. and Preston Chippeway.

Anthony was preceded in death by his nephew Lyle Bennett.

Ege, Kenneth A.
April 29, 1923 - June 2, 2003

Kenneth A. Ege, 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday June 2, 2003 at the Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Mass for Kenneth A. Ege will be held on Thursday June 5th at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Robert Byrne will officiate with interment in the Calvary cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 4th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday June 5th from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Those considering Memorials may consider, Central Michigan Community Hospital or the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Clark Funeral Chapel.

Ken was born April 29, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Anthony Conrad Ege and Bertha (Thering) Ege. On October 12, 1946 Kenneth married Virginia Vaughn at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ken served in the Michigan National Guard during WWII. During his working years Ken farmed and worked at Central Michigan University as a plumber. Ken was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and the mandolin. His hobbies were gardening, working in his orchard, and doing mechanical work.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Patrick (Linda) Ege of Mt. Pleasant, Evelyn (Larry) Sandbrook of Shepherd, and Debra Ege and James Hill of Mt. Pleasant, 3 grandchildren, Jill Lund, Beth Ege, and Michael Freeborn. 2 great grandchildren, Miranda and Evan Lund.
1 brother, Richard “Joseph” Ege of Grand Ledge, Michigan.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia , son Christopher, 1 brother Donald Ege and both parents.

Stuber, Hope Danielle
, - June 1, 2003

Hope Danielle Stuber, infant daughter of Tyrone and Jodi Stuber passed away June 1, 2003 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw.

A Memorial Service for Hope will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th at Central Michigan Christian Church with Rev. Rod Reed officiating. Interment took place at the Bennett cemetery.

Hope is survived by her parents, Tyrone R. and Jodi (Schmidt) Stuber of Weidman; brother, Richard Stuber; sister, Jessica Stuber both of Weidman; grandparents, Richard and Karen Schmidt of Weidman and Gerald and Mary Lou Stuber of Traverse City; great grandparents, Betty and Ed Heid of Fife Lake; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
