Spayd, Edward George
October 13, 1946 - May 23, 2004

Edward George Spayd, 57, of Weidman passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at his home.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City. Father John Cotter will officiate with Ed’s brother-in-law, Father Melvin Fox co-officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Wednesday, May 26 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Hospice of Central Michigan and Pardee Cancer Fund.

Ed was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 13, 1946, the son of Clare W. and Donella (Blackmer) Spayd. He graduated from Weidman High School in 1964 and served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1970. Ed married Alice Fox on November 30, 1968 in Beal City. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1978 with a degree in accounting. Ed worked for Consumers Power, he was an accountant for many firms, Manager of Lake Isabella Association from 1988 until 1998 and was the Manager for the Village of Lake Isabella from 1998 until 2002. Ed was a member of St. Joseph the Worker, Knights of Columbus in Beal City, Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, United Ostomy Association, and a volunteer for the Deerfield Twp. Fire Department for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and the Beal City and Weidman pool leagues.

Ed is survived by his wife, Alice of Weidman; Children, Darin (Michelle) Spayd of Shepherd and Bradley (Theresa) Spayd of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Justin, Michael, Alana, Adam and Austin; parents, Clare and Donella Spayd of Mt. Pleasant; Mother and Father-in-law, Fred and Rose Fox of Mt. Pleasant; Brothers, Carl (Rhonda) Spayd of Mt. Pleasant and Randy (Lorrie) Spayd of Blanchard; Sisters, Arlinda (Dan) Buckley of Mt. Pleasant and Andrea (Charles) Beard of Punta Gorda, FL.

Ed was preceded in death by his son, Eric in 1971.

Fletcher, Dorothy Kane
January 9, 1917 - May 21, 2004

Dorothy Kane Fletcher, age 87, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2004, at Central Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Dorothy was born January 9, 1917, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of John C. and Margaret (Keenan) Kane. She married Russell E. Fletcher on June 1, 1940. Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and attended Central Michigan University. She retired from the Mt. Pleasant Center in 1977 after 18 years. She was a LPAN.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Lucinda (Robert) Peterson of Caseville, Kathryn Francis of Fairgrove, and Thomas (Mary) Fletcher of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren; her sisters Ruth Mortimore of Santa Teresa, New Mexico and Mary (Hank) Gignilliat of Bern, North Carolina.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1976, a son Kane in 1976, her brother Tom and sisters, Kay, Liz, Eileen, and Fran.

Cremation has take place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Eaton, Alta A.
September 11, 1906 - May 12, 2004

Alta A. Eaton, 97, of 808 West Preston died May 12, 2004 at Isabella County Medical Care Facility. She has been in declining health for the past few years and resided at Isabella County Medical Care Facility since August 2001.

A Memorial service will be held at Clark Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Mielke will officiate. Interment will follow later in Galesburg, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until time of service on Saturday at the chapel.

Mrs. Eaton was born in Colony, Kansas in 1906. She grew up in that area and later married Orville L. Eaton. She worked as an assistant postmaster in Thayer and later moved to Joplin, Missouri to be with her husband, who was employed by the junior high school there. In 1956, they move to Mt. Pleasant where Dr. Eaton was chairman and professor of Library Science at CMU. Mrs. Eaton was employed at the JC Penney store in Mt. Pleasant and later retired from service there after 28 years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and University Wives association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Orville L. Eaton.

She is survived by 1 nephew, Howard D. Stitt and his wife, Neil of Charlotte, N.C. and 3 nieces, Dixie Richwine and her husband Ron of Chanute, Kansas, Cheryl Matlock and her husband Dan of Chanute, Kansas and Connie Hadley and her husband Dale of Wellington, Kansas.

She will be greatly missed by friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 2175 S. Coldwater Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Jacobs, Frank Thomas
November 14, 1943 - May 9, 2004

Frank Thomas Jacobs, 60, of Lake passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2004, at his home.

Funeral Services for Frank will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in Coldwater Township cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 12, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Frank was born November 14, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Melvin and Erma (Davis) Jacobs. He married Rosellen Lyon on April 22, 1965. Frank was self-employed in the lawn care business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his bicycle.

Frank is survived by his wife Rosellen of Lake; children Rosellen Kay (David) Dunevant of Cedar Springs, Frank Jacobs of Lake, Dawn (Edward) Higbee of Lake, Rene (Brian) Conlay of Lexington, NC, and Shane Jacobs of Big Rapids; grandchildren, Correna and David Dunevant, Echo, Shawnie, and Edward Higbee, Sasha, Ryan, Cody Conlay, and Valencia Jacobs; brothers and sisters Bill and Gail Jacobs, Verna Brannigan, Roberta and Bob Gilbert, Beverly Jacobs, Harold and Mary Jacobs, Raymond Jacobs, Norman Jacobs, and Richard Jacobs.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters Berdtidine Wentworth, Bernice Wood, Gloria Jacobs, Corabelle Nantais, Jake Jacobs, and Floyde Jacobs.

Leonard, Ruth M. Snellenberger
January 18, 1916 - May 7, 2004

Ruth Margarette Snellenberger Leonard, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2004, at Burcham Hills Retirement Community in East Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Shelly LaMew officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, May 13, at 1 p.m. in Washington cemetery in Washington, Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Hospice of Central Michigan, or the Ostomy Organization. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Ruth was born January 18, 1916, in Coleman, Michigan, the daughter of Harry and Marie (Petersen) Snellenberger. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. Ruth married J. Walter Leonard on May 22, 1940, in New York, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Mary Martha Circle. Ruth was a charter member of the Central Michigan Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was involved with Hospice of Central Michigan and the Ostomy Organization. Ruth was an honorary member of the ZTE Sorority of CMU. She was an active member of the Tourist Club.

Ruth is survived by her children, John W. Leonard III of Mt. Pleasant, Caroline L. Campbell (William J.) of Haslett, Linda L. Miller of San Diego, CA, and Dorothy J. Leonard of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-granchildren, 2 sisters, Florence Hagarman and Pauline Young (Ben); and nephew Ralph Leonard (Carol).

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband J. Walter Leonard, her son William Mc.C. Leonard, and sisters Virginia Goosman and Louise “Tootsie” Snellenberger.

Bond, Mae C.
May 10, 1910 - May 6, 2004

Mae C. Bond, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2004, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral Services for Mae will be held on Tuesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gordon Rydman officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Monday, May 10 from 7-9 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Mae was born May 10, 1910 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Coy and Amanda (Estep) Cantrell. She married Ogden Bond on January 9 in Kentucky. Mae was employed by Dow Chemical working the in food services, Exchange Bank and at the State Home giving patient care for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening.

Mae is survived by her children, Venus Bellinger of Grand Blanc, Dreama (Elise “Dutch”) Wolker of Midland, Olga (Fred) Williamson and Peggy (John) Banninger of West Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one brother.

Segraves, Ellen Ruth
November 29, 1924 - May 6, 2004

Ellen Ruth Segraves, 79, of St. Louis, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.

Funeral Services for Ellen will be held on Monday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Central Michigan Free Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Fulkerson officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 8 from 2-5p.m. and on Sunday, May 9 from 2-5p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Michigan Free Methodist Youth (Honduras Missionary Trip). Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Ellen was born November 29, 1924 in Evart, the daughter of Charles and Katherine (Lasch) Hammond. She graduated from Evart High School in 1942. Ellen married Ernest E. Segraves on December 27, 1947 in Evart, MI. She was a home maker and a life member of the Central Michigan Free Methodist Church. Ellen enjoyed working with youth at church.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Ernest of St. Louis; Children, Jim (Linda) Segraves of Shepherd, Yvonne (Tim) Owens of Port Huron, Wanda (Jim) Eberhart of Clare, Joan (Dennis) Howell of Grass Lake, MI and David (Kerri) Segraves of Hersee, MI; grandchildren, Shawn, Janice, Amy, Kelly, Stephanie, Nathanie, Denae, Ashley, Nikki and Kristal and one brother, Leroy Hammond of Evart.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, twin sisters, Jean and Jane, her sister, Katherine Blake and several aunts and uncles.

Burch, Marjorie Helen
October 24, 1937 - May 5, 2004

Marjorie Helen Burch, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at her home.

A Memorial Mass for Marjorie will be celebrated on Saturday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Gratiot Area Hospice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel and the church.

Marjorie was born October 24, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Andrew and Sue (Luptak) Wojack. Marjorie worked at Central Michigan University in food services for 16 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, camping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by her special friend of 16 years, Walt Farling; children, Kenneth (Donna) Burch of Weidman and Kathryn Ann Wilson of Weidman; Grandchildren, Holle and Trevor Burch of Weidman and Amy and Evan Wilson of Weidman; one sister, Martha (Dick) Mueller of Venice, FL.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Wojack.

Archer, Vivian L.
June 1, 1913 - May 5, 2004

Vivian L. Archer, 90, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Bortz Health Care Center in Traverse City.

A Graveside Services for Vivian will be held on Tuesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at the Riverside cemetery with Rev. John Boley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant or Donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Vivian was born June 1, 1913 in Cadillac, the daughter of Edwin and Olive (Phillips) Johnston. Vivian married Harper E. Archer on December 2, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant. Vivian Johnston Archer was a 1933 graduate of Central Michigan University. She was an Art Teacher at St. Louis Public Schools. Vivian was a life member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed 20 years in Florida with her husband.

Vivian is survived by her two sons, Ron (Kay Marie) Archer of Traverse City and Richard (Virginia Kay) Archer of Temple, Texas; her grandchildren, Mark (Sonya) Archer, Scott Archer, Craig (Tracey) Archer, Amy (John) Allert, Angela (Scott) Turner, Scott and Slade Dickson; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Jack and Benjamin Archer, Tyler DeGood, Andrew, Ashton and Archer Allert; one sister, Edna (Webb) Fairchild and Several nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Harper E. Archer on May 6, 2002, her parents and brother Frank Johnston.

Zimmerman, Nancy Elizabeth (Colosky)
November 9, 1935 - May 2, 2004

Nancy E. Zimmerman, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2004, to be with her husband of 49 years, who passed away on March 3, 2003. They will be reunited for all of eternity.

Funeral Services for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 1 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 4, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

She raised five children, surviving are sons, James, Dale and Micheal (Carrie) Zimmerman; daughters, Becky (Eugene) Cook and Susan (Mark) Reid; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Joy Wood; brother, Robert (Bertha) Colosky.

Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth J. Zimmerman; parents; son; grandson; two brothers. She will be loved and missed.

Foreman Sr., Keith Leroy
December 5, 1961 - April 28, 2004

Keith Leroy Foreman Sr., 42, of Mt. Pleasant died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at his home after a three year battle with (ALS) Lou Gehrigs disease.

A memorial service for Keith will be held on Monday, May 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steven Bradshaw and Pastor Jeff Cromwell officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Central Assembly of God and Hospice of Central Michigan.

Keith was born December 5, 1961, the son of Douglas Hugh and Doris (Ward) Foreman in Portsmouth, Virginia. He graduated in 1980 from James Campbell High School in Hawaii and enlisted in the Air Force. Keith married Karen “Tammy” Gima on September 16, 1981 in Cheboygan. He was a master mechanic. Keith raced pro tucks at Mt. Pleasant and Crystal Speedways. He was a member of Central Assembly of God.

Keith is survived by his wife, Tammy Foreman of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Tom Foreman and Keith Foreman, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; parents, Doug (Denise) Foreman of Hastings and Doris Foreman of Lansing; brother, Doug (Julia Schamehorn) Foreman Jr. of Olivet and sisters, Janet (Philip) West of Eaton Rapids, Joanne (Tommy) Barnard of Hastings and Jean (Kim) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant.

Denslow, Glee O.
March 15, 1926 - April 28, 2004

Glee O. Denslow, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Glee will be held on Saturday, May 1, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Paulette Cheyne of the Winn United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine River cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 1, from 10 until time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Glee was born March 15, 1926, in Riverdale, the daughter of Orlo and Lucy (Johnson) Mack. She married Jason “Jay” Denslow on March 18, 1945 in Edmore. Glee graduated from college and went on to work for Mt. Pleasant Regional Center as a LPN and Case Worker for 28 years before retiring in 1982. She enjoyed planning family events, crocheting, knitting, baking, crosswords, joking and having her family around.

Glee is survived by her husband, Jason of Mt. Pleasant; children, Joan (John) Maul of Mt. Pleasant and Dan (Kari) Denslow of Winn; grandchildren, Jeremy (Angie) Denslow, Joel (Lori) Denslow, Carrie Denslow, Michael (Holly) Cook, Patrick (Katie) Cook and Kathryn Cook; Great-Grandchildren, Cierra, Riley, Farryn, Willa, Benjamin, Jonathon and Lucas; one brother, Arnold (Regina) Mack of Palm Desert, CA and one sister, Jean (Don) Papendick of Battle Creek.

Glee preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ruth Johnson and Katherine Wheeler.
