Connors, Francis T.
January 31, 1919 - April 26, 2004

A Memorial mass to celebrate the life of Frank Connors will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI. Visitation will be Thursday, April 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 and Friday 10-10:30 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel, 114 S. Bradley St., Mt. Pleasant, MI.

His family and friends are invited to share this memorial with Evelyn, his wife of 64 years; their daughter, Connie; sons, Thomas and Timothy; and grandchildren, Donald, Rene and William; his sisters, Dorothy Connors and Mary Bowers; brothers, James Connors and Thomas Connors. Fr. Robert Byrne will celebrate the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Frank, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away in Cheboygan, MI after a brief illness. He was a 1939 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, a US Navy veteran and retired after 43 years from Total Petroleum in 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Onaway, Mich.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Connors; his mother and father, Ethel and James; brothers, Lloyd Connors, Eugene Connors and Leon Connors.

Myshock, Paul Thomas
January 14, 1908 - April 21, 2004

Paul Thomas Myshock, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. from St. Charles Catholic Church in Leaton with Father Jeffrey Donner and Lorraine McGuinness officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 23, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or St. Charles Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Paul was born January 14, 1908, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of John and Mary (Cumpbagage) Myshock. He married Mary Leona Leffingwell at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Rosebush. Paul worked for Dow Chemical for over 30 years before retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Charles and St. Henry’s Catholic Church and the Dow Chemical Union. Paul enjoyed hunting, gardening and fishing.

Paul is survived by his children, Carol Myshock of Barryton, Charlene Kerby of Weidman, Jean Amick of Weidman, Marilyn (James) Toney of Mt. Pleasant, Anita (Bob) Battleshaw of Weidman, Carla (Ed) Birk of Remus, Thomas (Michelle) Myshock of Weidman and Steven Myshock of Mt. Pleasant; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; one sister, Hattie Adamski of Auburn, MI and one sister-in-law, Anna Myshock of Mt. Pleasant.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Leona Leffingwell Myshock Moore; son, James Myshock; two brothers, Adam Myshock and Anthony Myshock; four sisters, Mary Welniak, Josephine Myshock, Margaret Myshock and Anna Myshock.

Curtiss, Thomas
January 9, 1939 - April 12, 2004

Thomas E. Curtiss, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2004, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Tom will be held on Friday, April 16, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Paulette Cheyne of Winn United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will receive friends today, April 14, from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 15 from 3-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Friends of Isabella Seniors. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Tom was born January 9, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Glenn O. and Lucie (Kent) Curtiss. Tom was employed by the Isabella Bank and Trust and then the State of Michigan as a bank examiner until his retirement. During his life Tom was also a farmer, sheriff’s deputy, repossessor, USDA crop inspector and a Century 21 realtor. He was a member of the Winn United Methodist Church, a life member and former Governor of Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge #195, and a charter member of the Eagles, Stanwood “Buffalo” AERIE #4360.

Tom is survived by his children, Terry L. (Shelby) Curtiss of AZ, Chari L. (Randy) Turnwald of Shepherd and Bruce A. (Kendra) Curtiss of Shepherd; grandchildren, Devin (April) Curtiss and Kylan Curtiss of AZ, Tristan, Tera and Eric Curtiss of Shepherd, Trudi and Cody Turnwald of Shepherd and Jeri Jo (Scott) Raymond of Mt. Pleasant; Great-Grandson, Brent Raymond; brothers, Kent O. (Diana) Curtiss of WA and Leland L. (Harriet) Curtiss of OR; one sister, Mary Ruth Williamson of Mt. Pleasant; special friend Mary Moomey of Alma.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Urburtis, Bernard
October 27, 1932 - April 12, 2004

Bernard Urburtis of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at Cencare #1.

Christensen, George "Dave" David
April 18, 1947 - April 11, 2004

George David “Dave” Christensen, 56, of Mt. Pleasant died on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Memorial Service for Dave will be held on Friday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Terry I. Nordheim officating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 15 from 6-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Michigan.

Dave was born April 18, 1947, the son of Norman W. and Ruth Ann (Hill) Christensen in Chicago, IL. In 1949, Dave and his family moved to Suttons Bay, MI where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1970 with a Bachelors Degree in Science Education and in 1978 he received his Masters Degree in Science Administration. Dave enlisted in the Navy on July 10, 1970 during the Vietnam Era receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Metal with one bronze star. After his discharge he enlisted in the United States Reserves until 1989. He married Lou Ann Brown on September 17, 1988 in Mt. Pleasant. Dave was employed by Champion, Inc. from 1978 until 1998 and most recently as Lead Valet for Soaring Eagle Casino. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Men’s Group and the choir. Dave enjoyed basketball, hunting, fishing, golf, reading and music.

Dave is survived by his wife, Lou Ann of Mt. Pleasant; children, Amy Nicole and Ryan David Christensen of Mt. Pleasant; parents, Norman W. and Ruth Christensen of Suttons Bay; Mother-In-Law, Fern Brown of Mt. Pleasant; one brother, Steven R. (Colleen) Christensen and their children, Dustin and Ashley of Suttons Bay; one sister, Claudia J. (William) Hendry and their children, Danielle and Brooke of Caledonia, MI; one sister-in-law, Sharon (Thomas) Breidinger and their children, Christopher and Rachel of Alma and two brother-in-laws, Gary (Colleen) Brown of St. Louis and Doug (Kristine) Brown and their children, Tyler and Lindsay of Mt. Pleasant

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law Neuman “Brownie” Brown.

Kagabitang, Raymond
December 13, 1913 - April 9, 2004

Raymond Kagabitang, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2004, at The Laurels Nursing Home.

Funeral Services for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Chippewa Township cemetery.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Ellen (John) Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; one granddaughter, Wendy Pierce of Mt. Pleasant and two great-grandchildren, Katheryn and Jonathon Pierce.

Ainley, Kathleen
January 21, 1937 - April 8, 2004

Kathleen “Kay” A. Ainley, 67, of Mt. Pleasant died on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at her home.

A Memorial Service for Kay will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan.

Kay was born January 21, 1937 in Detroit, the daughter of Edwin John and Barbara (Brenner) Knight. She married William M. Mendler on June 9, 1997. Kay enjoyed art, painting and the love of people.

Kay is survived by her husband, William M. Mendler; children, Pam (Bob) Isenberg of Bartlesville, OK and Randy (Stefanie) Ainley of Saline, MI; Grandchildren, Megan and Mia Isenberg of Bartlesville, OK and Rueben and Regen Ainley of Saline, MI; one brother, Ron (Sally) Knight of Aiken, SC and two sisters, Barb Broker of Waterford, MI and Jackie (Chuck) Green of Newberry, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A luncheon will be held following the service at the First Church of Christ, 1610 E. Braodway.

Fuller, Lois Alena
July 9, 1918 - April 6, 2004

Lois A. Fuller, 85, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the Central Michigan Community Hospital.

There will be a celebration of her life on Friday, April 9, at 10 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ray Freeze officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 8, from 6-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Isabella Seniors or Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Lois was born July 9, 1918, in Custer, Michigan the daughter of Chester and Hazel (Brauner) Curtis. She married Cornealious Fuller on July 23, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant; he preceded her in death in 1996. Lois retired form the Mt. Pleasant Public School System in 1979 and moved to Ludington to care for her father. She returned to Mt. Pleasant in 1986 to be near her family and friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Rebecca’s.

Lois is survived by her six children; Martin (Elena) Grandy of Baltimore Maryland, K.B. (Donna) Curtis of Ludington, Jean Milan of Mt. Pleasant, DuWayne (Darlene) Fuller of Manistee, Chester (Barbara) Fuller of Alma, Craig (Marian) Fuller of Mt. Pleasant; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Ruth) Curtis of Monroe; sister, Mildred (Roy) Stohl of Green Valley, AZ; daughter in law, Janice Grandy of Mt. Pleasant and dear friend and special companion, Frank Theisen of Mt. Pleasant.

Lois was preceded in death by both parents, Chester and Hazel Curtis, her husband, Cornealious and a son, Royal Grandy.

Hafer, Billy Joe
July 16, 1964 - April 3, 2004

Billy Joe Hafer, age 39, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004.

Funeral Services for Billy will be held on Thursday, April 8, at 2 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel with Reverend Michelle LaMew officiating. Entombment will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 7, from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 8, from 1 p.m. until time of service at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or dmonor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Billy was born July 16, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Bob and Donna (Tromblay) Hafer. Billy was a steel worker in the construction business. He especially enjoyed watching Nascar and was a big fan.

Billy is survived by his mother; Donna Hafer of Mt. Pleasant, two children; Matthew Hafer of Feeding Hills, MA., Cody Lane Hafer of Mt. Pleasant; brother Rob (Brenda) Hafer of Richmond, KY.; sisters; Cheryl (Mark) Kampf of Mt. Pleasant, Pam (John) Zeien of Mt. Pleasant and Julie Friend of Morrisville, NC.; his fiancée Lisa McIntosh of Mt. Pleasant; niece Leslie Zeien; nephews; Nicholas and Derek Zeien all of Mt. Pleasant, Jordan Saylor of Richmond, KY, Joshua and Justin Friend of Morrisville, NC.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Bob Hafer, grandparents, Arthur and Effie Tromblay, Earl and Frances Hafer.

Mallay, Jesse Charles
August 27, 1975 - April 2, 2004

Jesse Charles Mallay, 28, of Shepherd, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

A Memorial Service for Jesse will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 4 p.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel.

Jesse was born on August 27, 1975, in Alma, Michigan, the Son of Gary Ronald and Joyce Wanita (Lootens) Mallay. He was self employed as a construction laborer.
Jesse is survived by his father, Gary Ronald Mallay; brothers, Timothy Mallay and David Mallay (Bridget Basney); Sisters, Sheryl (John) Donley, Pamela (Jerry) Decker and Christina Mallay and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jesse was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Mallay and sister, Linda Mallay.

(Detwiler) Seiter, Beatrice
May 8, 1913 - August 4, 2004

N. Beatrice (Detwiler) Seiter, 91, of Clare passed away peacefully on Wed., August 4, 2004, at her home in Clare.

Beatrice was born on May 18, 1913, in Two Rivers (near Mt. Pleasant), the daughter of William and Winnie (Cross) Detwiler. She was married to William (Bill) James Seiter of Rosebush in Bryan, Ohio on December 23, 1929. They lived in West Branch till 1945 when they moved to their family farm in Rosebush. William predeceased her on June 17, 1975.

Beatrice is survived by 2 sons: William Jr. (Marcia) of Crystal, MI and Melvin (Yvonne) of Big Rapids. Also 6 daughters: Ann (Fred) Busche of Clare; Clara (Robert) Samborn of Ann Arbor; Judy (George) Vogel and Nina (Michael) Cronenberger both of Midland; Irene (Gary) Graham of Farwell and Ilene (Dennis) LaCross of Pittsburg, TX. An infant daughter, Nancy, died in 1938.

She leaves 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. One grandson and one great grandson are deceased.

Beatrice also leaves 1 brother, Melvin (Jan) Detwiler of Webster NY, and 2 sisters: Vergie Thorn of Mt. Pleasant and Verlie Codden of Rosebush and 1 sister-in-law, Lucille Detwiler of Mt. Pleasant. Two sisters, Syble Jones of Mt. Pleasant & MaeBelle Hunter of Saginaw and 1 brother, Garold Detwiler of Mt. Pleasant are deceased.

Our loving mother was the pillar of our family and greatly enjoyed hosting frequent family get togethers. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Beatrice has been a member of Clara Rebekah #167 Lodge in Clare since 1941 and attended the Rosebush Presbyterian Church.

Bill & Beatrice traveled many years in their VW Bus and spent winters in McAllen, TX for several years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rosebush Manor, 1210 E. Rosebush Rd, Rosebush, MI 48878 or Rosebush Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at the Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, August 6, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Her funeral services will be at Clark Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Aug. 7 at 1 pm. Interment will be at Vernon Township cemetery.
