George William Rapp, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away due to a boating accident on Tuesday, June 15, 2004.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Pego officiating. Interment will take place in the Star City cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2004 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2004 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 19, 2004 from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

George was born on July 7, 1933 in Missaukee County, Michigan, the son John B. and Amelia (Pontiac) Rapp. He married Stephanie Jensen on September 5, 2003 in Harrison. George attended the Butterfield Church of Nazarene in Merritt and was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He served in the United States Air Force. George enjoyed collecting old cars and loved religious and country music.

George is survived by his wife, Stephanie of Harrison; step-children, Gary Jensen of Iowa, Charmaine and Jennifer Jensen of Harrison; Five step-grandchildren; sisters, Bette Morseau of Mt. Pleasant, Grace (James “Bud”) Pego of Rosebush and Delia Rapp Mix of Coloma, MI; the Strong family of Mt. Pleasant and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, David, Andrew and Mike Rapp and a sister, Jenny Strong.

Suzanne M. Frahm, 37, of Weidman passed away on Monday, June 7, 2004.

Natzel, Ellen E.
January 17, 1938 - June 3, 2004

Ellen E. Natzel, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Garden cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 5, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Ellen was born on January 17, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Leroy and Pearl (Degeer) Hayward. She married Edward Natzel on June 22, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ellen was employed with the Mt. Pleasant School System for 15 years. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters Society and the Altar Society. Ellen loved being with her family and looked forward to the holidays, she was known as the cookie lady. Ellen enjoyed working in the yard, antiques, refinishing furniture and she enjoyed traveling immensely.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Ed Natzel of Mt. Pleasant; children, Chris (Jean) Natzel of Bad Axe, Cheryl Natzel of Chandler, Arizona,Kevin Natzel of Pheonix, Arizona, and Karen Natzel of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren; Brian (Lindsey) of Lewiston, Jennifer Natzel of Portage, Great-Grandchildren; Christopher Natzel of Lewiston, Brothers Leroy Hayward of Caro, John Hayward of Caro, Robert Hayward of Abilene, TX, and Sister Elizabeth Grinzinger of Mt. Pleasant.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles and Daniel Hayward, and sister Mable Hayward.

MacGregor, Duncan Millis "Mac"
October 11, 2005 - October 7, 2004

Duncan Millis “Mac” MacGregor, age 98, of Traverse City passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Cherry Hill Haven. Formerly of Toronto, Ohio, Bay City and Mt. Pleasant, he had been a resident of Traverse City the past 18 years.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2004, at 12:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant where friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service. The Reverened Kathy Munz-Phellps, Mr. MacGregor’s granddaughter will officiate. Friends may also call Sunday, October 10, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.

Mr. MacGregor founded and owned the MacGregor News Agency in Mt. Pleasant for over 50 years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner, past president of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club, past president of the Michigan Wholesalist Association, a member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club where he organized the Kiwanian Newspaper sales and was a member of the first Congregational Church of Traverse City. Mac loved golf, fishing and hunting.

Born October 11, 1905 in Thurso Cathne, Scotland, he was the son of Alexander and Elizabeth (Scherer) MacGregor. On August 20, 1928 in Bay City he married Margaret Gostage, who preceded him in death on August 16, 1978. On December 5, 1985, in Traverse City he married Eva May Beardsley who survives. Also surviving is daughter Marilyn (Cameron) Buchanan of Venice, FL; son Charles (Lois) MacGregor of Mt. Pleasant; stepson James Palmer of Traverse City, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by daughter Joann Munz and her husband Charles and ten brothers and sisters.

Wheatcraft, George E.
December 6, 1925 - October 6, 2004

George E. Wheatcraft, 78, of Rosebush passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services for George will be Saturday, October 9, at 2 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michelle LaMew officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends today Friday, October 8, from 4-8 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gratiot Area Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

George was born on December 6, 1925, in Pike Twp., Knox Co., Ohio, the son of Owen and Lillian (Page) Wheatcraft. He married Lila Mae Pifer on September 12, 1951 in Harrison. George was a Mechanic for Welded Construction for 45 years. He served in the Army in WWII. George was a member of the Local 321 Operating Engineer and the American Legion of Rosebush. All who knew him will miss him.

George is survived by his two daughters, Pamela (Tom) Morris of Shepherd and Nancy (Craig) Carlson of Traverse City; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Ives of Cleveland, OH. and Michelle Edwards fiancé Brian Jennings of Mt. Pleasant, MI; one great grandson, George Ives of Cleveland, OH. one sister, Harriet (Stanley) Bieri of Evart, MI.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Wheatcraft in 2000 and his parents.

Lobdell, Ila Burdette
May 26, 1908 - October 3, 2004

Ila B. Lobdell, 96, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2004, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant.

A Memorial service for Ila will be held on Saturday, October, 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John's Episcopal Church in Mt. Pleasant with The Rev. Patricia Green officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at Clark funeral chapel or St. John's Episcopal Church.

Ila was born on May 26, 1908, to Ianthus and Gertrude (Sweezy) Trump in Ovid Township, Branch Co., Michigan. She married Maurice George Lobdell in 1927. They had one daughter Patricia Louise. They lived in Fort Wayne, IN. until 1931 at which time they moved to a farm in Branch County, Michigan. Mr. Lobdell passed away in 1977 in Coldwater Michigan. In 1977 Ila moved to Owosso to be with her daughter and son-in-law. In 1993 they moved to Mt. Pleasant.

Ila was a homemaker most of her life. She was a great cook and seamstress. In her 60’s she began to paint preferring to work in oils. She belonged to the Art Club of Coldwater and later joined the Brush and Pallet Art Club of Owosso, MI. Ila was a member of the Owosso Musical and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Quincy, MI. She was a former member of the Philathea Class of the Quincy Union Church and a member of the New Century Club. A project of the church was to prepare the noon meal for the Rotary Club of Quincy and for many years Ila served as chairman.

Ila is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Claussen of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Deborah (Michael) Knoll of Mt. Pleasant, Michael (LeeAnn) Claussen of Kalamazoo, MI., Rosemary (Greg) Hagan of Traverse City, MI. and Jon Claussen of Mt. Pleasant; nine great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Cooley, Franklin W.
January 1, 1937 - October 2, 2004

Franklin “Frank” Wayne Cooley, 67, of Lake Isabella passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2004, in Alaska.

Funeral services for Frank will be Friday, October 8, at 11 a.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, from 5-9 p.m. and on Friday, October 8, 2004 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Safari Make a Wish Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Frank was born on January 1, 1937, in Eminence, Missouri, the son of Esther (Holland) and Eli Mennon Cooley. He married Patricia Zieman on November 7, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois. Frank was a real estate broker and developer for most of his life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Wayne and Donna (David); step-children, Pam, Deb and David (Renata); adored grandfather of Amy (Jason), Wayne Jr., Tracy, Rachel, Elizabeth, Gregory and Lauren and Proud great-grandfather of Jadyn.

Dibble, Lucille Sarah
November 28, 1919 - September 30, 2004

Lucille Sarah Dibble, 84, of Saginaw and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord and be reunited with her husband and two sons on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Hoyt Nursing Home in Saginaw.

Lucille was born on November 28, 1919, in Deerfield Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Mary Rose (Klufts) Purtill and James Edward Purtill. She married Lewis Dibble on June 8, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant. Lucille was employed by Central Michigan University Food Services before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters; St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church of Carrollton, the VFW ladies auxiliary and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Lucille’s mission in life was raising 5 children and ministering to those in need. She had a heart full of compassion, caring about and serving others. She enjoyed visiting with friends and needlepoint work.

Lucille is survived by her children, Lewis “Dan” (Bonnie) Dibble Jr. of Saginaw, Carol Dibble of Denton, TX and Donna (Bob) Johnson of Frisco, TX; Seven grandchildren, Eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (George) Winesburgh of Harrison; daughter-in-law, Eileen Dibble of Kalkaska and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis on February 23, 1957; sons, Thomas Dibble on July 20, 1969 and Chuck Dibble on January 20, 1994. Three brothers, Joe, Charles and Henry Purtill and two sisters, Francis Lehman and Carol Rickard also preceded her.

A Funeral Mass for Lucille will be Monday, October 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary cemetery. The family will receive friends today, October 2, 2004 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Visitation will also be held on Monday, October 4, 2004 from 10 until the time of service at the church. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hoyt Nursing Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Vansteel, Jr., Frank George
October 11, 1924 - December 6, 2004

Frank George Vansteel, Jr., 80, of Coldwater Lake, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2004 at his home.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Frank was born on October 11, 1924, in Quincy, IL, the son of Frank and Matilda (Hermesmeyer) Vansteel. He served in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1945. Frank married Helen Lorraine Williams on July 23, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. He worked as an electrician for T.R.W Electrical for 20 years before retiring on July 6, 1984. Frank also worked for Lansing Electrical Motor and L.E. Meyers Electric. He was a former member of the Ovid American Legion.

Frank is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Frank George Vansteel III (Angela) of Hauula, Hawaii and Lawrence Wesley Vansteel (Sandy) of Kenosha, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell Vansteel (Jeann) of Coswell, MI and Charles (Mardell) Vansteel of Quincy, IL and sisters, Marge Minogue of Forest Park, IL, Barbara Benzaqin of Nowell, MA and Ruth Ann Pietkiewicz (Chet) of Joliet, IL.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Frank George Vansteel IV.

McDonald, William "Bill" E.
June 5, 1939 - December 5, 2004

William E. “Bill” McDonald, age 65, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday December 5, 2004 at the Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Golden of the Coomer United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 8th from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, December 9th from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Chapel of Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes or the Coomer United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Bill was born June 5, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant the son of James C. McDonald and Marie M. (Salchert) McDonald. Bill worked for Ferro Manufacturing, and also worked as a farmer, and most recently worked as a truck driver for Beckman Trucking for the last 10 years.
He married Edna M. Young on May 13, 1967 in Mt. Pleasant. Bill enjoyed hunting small game and bear hunting.

Bill is survived by his wife Edna of Mt. Pleasant; his children, Lewis (Barbara) McDonald of Houghton Lake, Lori (Al) Swain of Round Rock, Texas and Anna McDonald and Mike Ireland of Mt. Pleasant; Six grandchildren, Kacey, Mollee, and Sean Swain and Bobbi, Travis, and Cory McDonald; a brother Elton (Betty) McDonald; a sister, Agnes McDonald both of Mt. Pleasant and his special hunting friends.

Bill was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Doyle McDonald in 2000, sister Ethel McDonald in 1935.

Claus, Martha Cornelia
September 18, 1907 - November 20, 2004

Martha C. Claus, age 97, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, November 20, at the Wooden Rocker Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.

A Funeral Mass for Martha will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Robert Byrne will be officiating. Burial will take place at the Calvary cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call at Clark Funeral Chapel on Monday, Nov. 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. On Tuesday, visitation will take place at Sacred Heart Church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Sacred Heart Parish. Envelopes will be available at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Martha was born September 18, 1907, in Zonnebecke, Belgium. Martha married Medard “Mike” Claus, who passed away in 1952. Martha worked and owned the M&M Bar from 1939 to 1972. Martha was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Martha is survived by her children, Maury L. (Vicki Mattson) Claus of Lake, MI, and Michael (Jean) Claus of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Jennifer (Sean) Moore of Tampa, FL, and Anna “Mickey” (Dr. Ken) Egger of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandchildren, Madeline Moore of Tampa, FL, and Mackenzie Egger of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Margaret Lemieux of Zonnebecke, Belgium.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Medard, and three sisters.

Wilczynski, Alice Marie
November 10, 1921 - November 19, 2004

Alice Marie Wilczynski, 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, November 19, 2004, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.

Memorial Mass for Alice will be Monday, November 29, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jeffrey Donner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabella County Medical Care Facility or St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Alice was born on November 10, 1921, in Smithfield, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Elina Bednerek. She married Felix Leo Wilczynski, he preceded her in death on June 3, 1994. Alice worked in food services for the public schools. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Alice is survived by her children, Nancy (Philip) Kelly of Southgate, MI and Betty Wagner of Mt. Pleasant; one granddaughter, Julia Layne Wagner of Mt. Pleasant, one brother, Ed Bednerek of Ohio and sisters, Mary Sykora, Stella Ruzek, Olga Bryzinski, all of Ohio and Betty Kauriah of Florida

Alice was preceded in death by her husband.
