Cotter, Virginia McConnell
March 18, 1918 - January 15, 2005

The Cotter family has lost a wonderful mother and grandmother, a beloved wife, a loving sister and aunt, and a precious friend! She was the heart of our family and a stabilizing force in our busy home. Our mother was always there when we needed her; no matter how hectic the day. Hers was a life of love -- she loved life. She loved her husband. She loved her children. She loved to laugh. She loved God. Her Christian faith permeated her life. Throughout her long life, she remained a modest and humble soul. Although the Lord has called her home, in a manner of speaking, she is still with us. Her life evokes a world of precious memories for our family. Her passing saddens us and she will be sorely missed. But we also rejoice, knowing she is in the everlasting arms of the God she loved. . . in Heaven, where there is no more illness or death.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Lovingly remembered by her daughter, Therese

Morey, Jeri Lee
July 5, 1942 - January 7, 2005

Jeri Lee (Dent) Morey, loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 7. After a brief illness, she surprised us all by dying quietly in her Florida home, while her beloved 87 year old mother, Marguerite Dent, caressed her forehead and spoke lovingly to her.

Funeral Services for Jeri will be held on Wednesday, January 12, at 10 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Boley officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Township cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the chapel.

Jeri, in her own words, had the “best life.” She was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 5, 1942, to Vernon and Marguerite Dent and big brother, Robert. She graduated from Gardena, (California) High School in 1960 and married Robert M. Cowley. Together they had two daughters, Michelle Renee and Julie Marie. Struck with bipolar disorder in the mid-1960’s, she later divorced Mr. Cowley and took her daughters to Michigan to start life anew. It was there she met “the love of her life,” Norval K. Morey, founder and CEO of Morbark, inc. They were married 20 years when Norval died in 1997.

Jeri was preceded in death by her father, grandparents and husband. She is survived by her mother, Marguerite, her children Julie and Jeff Recker and Michelle and Ed White and the eight grandchildren she loved so much: Elise, Alissa, Alexa and Ian Recker, and Matthew, Benjamin, Nina and Natalie White. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Virginia, and their children and grandchildren: Julie and Wes Hilton and their children Holly, Kendra, Savannah, and Chloe; and Jennifer and Matt Owen. Also surviving are step-sister Lucille Towne, step-brother Ralph Morey and other members of Norval’s family as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including her Auntie Donna, and Uncle George Dawson, her cousin Michelle and her daughter Alison, and her Aunt Mary and Uncle George Higue.

Jeri loved flowers, particularly yellow roses and flowers from Norval’s garden. But not long before she died, she mentioned a desire to set up a fund to help some of the lowliest among us -- the mentally ill. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, 60 Cutter Mill Road, Suite 404, Great Neck, New York, 11021, (800) 829-8289.
