Tidball Dunn, Jessie Louise
November 3, 1910 - May 13, 2005

Jessie Tidball Dunn of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, Chevy Chase, Maryland and Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away Friday, May 13th at Maplewood of Mt. Pleasant at the age of 94.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 320 South Bradley, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2005. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00, immediately preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, Central Michigan Community Hospital or Hospice of Central Michigan.

Jessie was born November 3, 1910 in Minonk, Illinois, the daughter of a Presbyterian minister. During her early childhood the family moved to Madison, Indiana where she graduated from high school in 1928.

She attended Hanover College before transferring to Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, now Miami University. She graduated in 1932 and has remained active in the Alumni Association. Jessie received her Masters degree in Religious Education from McCormick Seminary in Chicago and accepted a position in Salina, Kansas where she met and married George W. Dunn, Jr.

After being transferred with the government to Lincoln, Nebraska, they adopted their two children – George III and Lucia Ann. In 1952, accepting another federal government transfer, the family moved to Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Jessie taught English at Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C., quickly assuming a number of administrative positions - the last as Academic Dean of Women. She was credited with being a “repository of academic knowledge and an authority on curriculum and academic precedents throughout the United States”.

The couple retired to Tucson, Arizona where they lived for more than 30 years. Widowed in 1996, she continued her very active life in Tucson, until moving to Mt. Pleasant to be near George and Barbara in October of 2003. After moving to Mt. Pleasant, she became a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Tuesday Morning Bible Study and a volunteer employee of Middle Michigan Development Corporation.

Jessie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George and Barbara Dunn of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and her daughter, Lucia Ann Rogerson of Kensington, Maryland; 4 grandsons, Tim (Tina) Cole of Mattawan, Michigan, Bob (Kasey) Dunn of Ionia, Michigan, Slade (Sonja) Rogerson of Maiden, Virginia, and Gray Rogerson of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 granddaughters, Brandy Dunn of Olathe, Kansas and Blai

Johnson, Rodney Lee
January 29, 1949 - May 12, 2005

Rodney Lee Johnson, age 56, of Prudenville, passed away at Mid Michigan Regional Center Midland.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Rosebush United Methodist Church with Mike Simon officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Garden cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday May 15, 2005 at 2-5 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Monday May 16, 2005. Memorial donations can be made to the Munson Manor in Traverse City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and at the church.

Rodney was born January 29, 1949 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Lee and Shirley (Bellinger) Johnson. Rodney was employed for 22 years with the Coyle’s Restaurant as a cook. Rodney was a member of the Elks Lodge #1982 of Houghton Lake, and enjoyed dancing and water skiing in his spare time.

Rodney is survived by his children; Cammie (Tom) Cantrell of DeWitt, and Jon (Diane) Pohl of Greenville; grandchildren; Emma and Sophie Cantrell; Alexander and Savannah Pohl; along with his sister; Connie (Rich) Yerman of Midland.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Shirley Johnson.

Holp, Phillip
September 13, 1929 - May 8, 2005

Phillip Holp, age 75, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with his Lord at home on Sunday, May 8, 2005 due to a ruptured aortic thorastic aneurism.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Phillip was born September 13, 1929 in Rosebush, MI., the son of Adam and Eve (Bender) Holp. Phillip graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville South Carolina. On November 12, 1949 he married the late Irene Laquata (Coppens) Holp. In 2003 he then married Isabelle in Harrison, MI. In 1961, Phillip was ordained as an Independent Baptist Minister serving for 30 years. Phillip was also a crash crop farmer all his life. He enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, and winning souls for the Lord.

Phillip is survived by his children; Dianne (Mark) Calkins of Mt. Pleasant, Rhonda Holp of Shepherd, and Terry (April) Holp of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren; Nathan (Debbie) Calkins, Brent Calkins, Janessa Beck and Kyle Holp all of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandson; Solomon Calkins of Mt. Pleasant; brother; Adam “Bill” (Vada) Holp of Lansing; sisters; Lillian Prout, Katherine (Jim) O’Donnell both of Rosebush, Frances Watson of Mt. Pleasant, and Emogene Keller of St. Joseph, MI.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Eve Holp, his wife, Irene, brother, Don Holp and sister Evelyn Lapham.

Heydens, Paul Robert
January 31, 1954 - May 7, 2005

Paul Robert Heydens, 51, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2005, due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

A Memorial Mass for Paul will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Byrne officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10th from 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. A prayer service for Paul will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish a scholarship fund for his daughter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Paul was born January 31, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma the son of Robert and Rita (Wojtysiak) Heydens. He married Paula McDade on October 27, 1979 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Paul worked as an Executive Chef for LaBelle Management at Comfort Inn Conference Center. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Paul enjoyed cooking, music, his dogs, reading books and playing poker with his friends. He was a terrific husband. Paul had an incredible bond with his daughter, Gina and he loved her dearly.

Paul is survived by his wife, Paula McDade and loving daughter, Gina Heydens both of Mt. Pleasant; parents, Robert and Rita Heydens of St. Clair; mother-in-law, Theodosia McDade of Troy; brother, Nick (Tina) Heydens of St. Clair; sisters, Judy (Mike) Raymond of Port Huron and Sue (Bill) Karas of St. Clair; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Salminen, Arne Hjalmar
November 27, 1918 - May 5, 2005

Arne Hjalmar Salminen, 86, of Mt. Pleasant formerly of Herman, MI passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at The Laurels Nursing Home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arne was born on November 27, 1918 in Hancock, MI, the son of Hjalmar and Maria Liisa (Saarinen) Salminen. He married Eunice Line Gorjup on February 14, 1986 in Calumet, MI. Arne’s occupation was maintenance work on the Railroad. His greatest joy was to be able to explore and work on his land in the Upper Peninsula. He loved nature, music and was a keen weather observer.

Arne is survived by his wife, Eunice of Rochester; children, Sandra (Charles) Burr of Blanchard and Lisa (James Stahl) Salminen of Beal City and grandchildren, Gregg, Erik and Meghan Burr and Shaun Collin.

Arne was preceded in death by his parents.

Bennett, Elizabeth M.
August 8, 1924 - May 3, 2005

Elizabeth M. Bennett, 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church with Rev. Owen White Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland cemetery in Rosebush. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 5, 2005 after 1 p.m. and on Friday, May 6, 2005 after 1 p.m. at the church.

Elizabeth was born on August 8, 1924 in Elk Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Lucille (Shaw) Judson. She married Russell Bennett, he preceded her in death in 1997. Elizabeth was a member of the Chippewa Indian United Methodist Church and the Grand Traverse Bay Chippewa Ottawa Indian Tribe. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and she liked traveling.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Marlin P. (Shirley) Bennett of Mt. Pleasant, Russell Bennett, JR. and his companion Mary Ridgeway of Mt. Pleasant, Audrey (Craig) Floyd of Mt. Pleasant and Angela (Allen Chippeway) Bennett of Mt. Pleasant; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell and her children, Katherine Assinewai and Glen, Gary, Allen, Harley, Francis Joseph and David Alvin Bennett.

Voss, Keith D.
February 18, 1931 - May 3, 2005

Keith D. Voss, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away of Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Gratiot Community Hospital.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Chippewa Township cemetery with Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and Clark Funeral Chapel.

Keith was born on February 18, 1931 in Sherman Twp., the son of John and Rita (Thompson) Voss. He served in the United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. Keith married Lois Kappler on July 11, 1951. He drove truck for Roy Denton and later worked for General Motors on the block floor from 1963 – 1988. Keith enjoyed his grandkids, gardening, lawn work, his 1948 Ford Pickup and the Pixie Cruise.

Keith is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Kenneth A. Voss (Gail Porritt) of Mt. Pleasant, Diane Voss of California, Elma E. (Dennis) Christle of Winn, Carla J. (Dale) Dille of Shepherd and David R. (Lisa) Voss of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Bethany Dille, Keith Christle, Luke Dille, Anthony Christle, Melissa Voss and Matthew Voss; one brother, Donald (Ann) Voss of Blanchard and sisters, Barb, Peggy and Sandy.

Keith was preceded in death by his son, Harold Duane Voss in 1967; brother, John Voss and Sister, Arlene.

Reihl, Ronald J.
April 12, 1947 - April 30, 2005

Ronald J. Reihl, 58, of Lake Isabella, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.

A Funeral Mass for Ronald will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Fr. John Cotter officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3rd from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel and also from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, May 4th at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish a college fund for his grandchildren. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Ron was born April 12, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Richard J. and Mary B. (Sargent) Reihl. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965. Ron married Joyce Jourdain, his childhood sweetheart, on August 14, 1970 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Rosebush. He owned and operated his own Dairy Farm and worked at Bandit Industries as a Hydraulics Manager. Ron was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, who brightened the life of everyone he loved. He had many joys in his life that included hunting, fishing, golfing, antique cars and snowmobiling. He enjoyed working on his tractor with his son-in-law, Tony, and considered afternoons spent with his grandchildren a holiday.

Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce Reihl of Lake Isabella; loving daughters, Jennifer Robison of Mt. Pleasant and Jayme’ (Tony) Martin of Beal City; grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Robison both of Mt. Pleasant and Lucas Ronald Martin of Beal City; mother, Mary Reihl of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Richard (Carolyn); Thomas (Vickie) both of Rosebush; Patrick; Donald both of Mt. Pleasant and David of Clare; sisters, Pamela (Kenneth) Simmer of Midland and Chris Brasington of Rosebush.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Richard Reihl.

Brabyn, Bernadine
April 24, 1915 - April 28, 2005

Bernadine Brabyn, 90, passed on early Thursday morning in her home. Bernadine, who went by the name of Bernie, was born April 24, 1915 in Detroit, MI. As a young adult Bernie moved from institution to institution until her final move to Mt. Pleasant in 1981. Here, Bernie lived in the Tendercare Nursing Center until December of 1990 when the Broadway Home was blessed with her arrival. Bernie loved life and spent it with a smile on her face. She enjoyed shopping and musicals but most of all she loved chocolate.
Bernie’s only known living relative is her twin sister, Bernice Jenson who now lives in a nursing home in Detroit. Bernie went down there periodically to visit and they showed their sisterly love by writing letters frequently.
She will be missed very much by those that knew her; her housemates Woody, Gideon and Mac, her many caretakers at the Broadway Home and the support staff of Listening Ear, CMCMH and Central Michigan Guardianship. We all pray that Bernie is happy now living with the heavenly Lord and that she know we all Love her.
Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronald Vredeveld and The Rev. Nancy Casey Fulton officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Hull, Robert (Bob) Merlin
June 26, 1930 - April 28, 2005

Bob, beloved husband, father and adored grandfather was received into the arms of the Lord, his parents and his sister on April 28, 2005 at home with his family by his side.

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 3 p.m. from Trinity Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wayne Boughan officiating. Interment will follow in the Broomfield Twp. cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Bob was born on June 26, 1930 in Big Rapids to Ezra and Olive (Smith) Hull. He married Laura Smith on July 18, 1953 in Mecosta County. Bob worked as a watch and clock repairman since he was in his late teens after an accident left him a paraplegic. Bob settled in Broomfield Township near Blanchard and retired after 29 years at Jarrett the Jeweler. Bob enjoyed working on cars, hunting, camping and tinkering in his workshop. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He was a long term member of the Remus Trinity Wesleyan Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Laura; Daughter, Sharon (Scott) Parks of Remus and son, Brian (Tracy) Hull also of Remus. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl (Laura) Hull of Fremont, Eugene (Charlotte) Hull of Big Rapids, James (Shirley) Hull of Mackinaw City, Gordon (Barb) Hull of South Haven and Floyd (BarB) Hull of Kingsley, his three grandchildren, Allison and Cody Parks and Grace Hull, along with many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Olive and his sister, Velma.

White, Charles M.
September 8, 1922 - April 27, 2005

Charles M. White, 82, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Laurels Nursing home.

Funeral Services for Charles will be held on Sunday, May 8th, 2005 at 1 p.m. from St. John’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Fr. William Spaid will officiate with interment in the White Pigeon Twp. cemetery, White Pigeon, Michigan. Graveside services are set for Monday May 9th at 2 p.m. at the cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 7th, 2005 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel. A Masonic Memorial service will be held Saturday Evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wabon Lodge 305 F & A.M. or St. John’s Episcopal Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and church.

Charles was born on September 8, 1922 in Wyoming, Michigan the son of Charles and L. Agusta (Bowen) White. He graduated from high school and attended college before serving in the United States Army,he served with the 748th Railway Operating Batalion . Charlie married Harriett Pennington in 1957 in Michigan City, Indiana. He was employed as a Depot Agent for the Chesapeake Ohio Railway from 1940 – 1970. Charlie was a member of the Wabon Masonic Lodge 305 F & A.M., the Commandery No. 040 Knights Temple in Ithaca/Alma, the O.E.S. #55/Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, the Scottish Rite Valley of Bay City, the Ionic Council #254, the Allied Masonic Degrees, the Northeastern Michigan York Rite College # 16 in Midland, (order of the purple cross) the York Rite Sovereign College of North America, t, the American Legion Post 0110 in Mt. Pleasant and the Royal Arch Masons around the Globe Chapter 111 in Mt. Pleasant. He also was a lay reader and sang in the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Harriett; children, Judith (Larry) Rogal of Forks, WA and Charles Harry (Kirsten) White of Chassell, MI; grandchildren, Saul Ruiz, Clarinda Bitner, Catherine Ruiz and Erica Rogal; great-grandchildren, Charidyce & Ashlyne Bitner and Isabel Gaughan and mother-in-law, E. Geraldine Pennington of White Pigeon.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert P. and Harry White and 2 sisters, Dorothy White and Wealthy Drake.

Green, Marion R.
April 22, 1912 - April 24, 2005

Marion R. Green, 93, of Weidman, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her home.

Funeral services for Marion will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Gilmore Township cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 28th, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Chapel.

Marion was born April 22, 1912, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of John and Ella (Rohn) Knobel. She married Howard G. Green in 1940. Marion worked as a secretary for Wayne Co. for 24 years before retiring.

Marion is survived by her sons, Jerry (Gloria) Green of Lake, MI and Michael Green of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Anne (Evan) Rawley, John Green, Tricia, Christy Green, Jamie Green and Donald Green; great grandchildren, Jonah Rawley and Nick Green; long time friend Nick Vadassiss of Weidman.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Howard and her parents.
