Mike retired as a Maintenance Supervisor from General Motors after 38 years of service. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Master Sergeant. KLUGER, DAWN MARIE; age 42; of Macomb; passed away on January 21, 2008; after a long battle with cancer. Dawn belonged to a cross stitching group for 20 years, a book club for 8 years and loved scrapbooking. She was a volunteer at Cherokee Elementary and with the Cub Scouts. Bonnie was a volunteer for many years at N. Oakland Medical Center and also at Crittenton Hospital. She was a former member of Waterford Community Church and First Congregational Church of Rochester. McINTOSH, COLLEEN R. (DARBY); of Lake Orion; left us unexpectedly January 23, 2008; at the age of 44. Loving mother of Eric McIntosh and Darby McIntosh; beloved daughter of Mike and Darlene Darby of Clarkston; sister of Elizabeth (Eric) Morfe and Michelle (fiance Scott Ross) Darby; granddaughter of William Coller; best friend of Kathy and Kevin Bailey. Colleen was employed with Wm. Beaumont Hospital, Troy. She graduated from Clarkston High School in 1981. Colleen was a nursing student at Baker College. Friends may visit at the Lewis E. OSLUND, NORMAN A.; died peacefully in his sleep on January 21, 2008; he was 76. Formally from Lake Orion, MI, currently of Mackinaw City, MI. GARWOLD, BESSIE F.; 86; of Rose City, formerly of Almont; passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008; at Bortz Nursing Center in Rose City. She was born January 10, 1922 in Lapeer; the daughter of Alexander and Bessie Belle (Hunt) Evans. She married George Garwold on September 10, 1940 and together they lived in Almont until moving to Glennie, MI in 1981. Bessie retired from L & L Products. She was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Almont, the Almont Rebecca Lodge, the Almont bowling league, and volunteered for the Curtisville Civic Association. She attended Glennie Methodist Church. She is survived by her children Dean Garwold of Glennie, William (Sonya) Garwold of Auburn Hills; grandchildren Dean Duane Garwold of Imlay City, Kenneth George Garwold of Cape Coral, FL, Jennifer Lynn (Kirt) Perreault of Avondale, AZ and Angela Marie (Eric) Eckert of FL; great grandchildren Cheyenne Garwold, Victoria and Evan Perreault; also surviving are two sisters Helen Theimkey of Montana and Dorothy Brady of Oxford; and one brother Max Evans of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; children Robert George Garwold and Jean Marie Ward; and one grandson Rodney Allen Garwold. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. with Funeral Services Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont Derek Gillespie of the First Congregational Church in Almont officiating. LAWRENCE, JAMES G.; age 65; of Waterford. Went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2008. Beloved husband of Shirley for 48 years; dear father of Tina (Rick) Furness, Michael (Kimberly) Lawrence and Lisa (David) France; beloved brother of Ruby (Luke) Miracle, Robert (Patsy) Lawrence, the late Nancy Seconder and the late Sally Lawrence; loving grandfather of Crystal, John, Holly, Michael, Jacob, Ashley, Melissa and Nikki; great grandfather of Cameron. James loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed sports, especially bowling and golf. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Auburn Hills Church of Christ. Mr. Lawrence was a tool maker for GM Fisher Body/ Fiero for 30 years and also worked for Rite Mart Stamp Co. in Auburn Hills for 15 years. SMYTH, MARSHA L. SMYTH (NEE CROSS); age 62; died in her Harrison Township; home on February 21, 2008. She was born in Chatham, Ontario on May 3, 1945 to Rodger and Ila Cross. Mrs. Smyth was an avid reader, quilter and gardener who also loved to travel. For over 10 years Mrs. Smyth ran a child care service out of her home, considering those children to be a part of her own family to the extent that those children still came to visit her regularly. She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Gary Smyth, whom she married on May 22, 1965. She is survived by her children Gary (Courtnay) Smyth, Liane (Jerry) Bilicki, and Erin (Joe) Peck; beautiful grandchildren Keenan, Nicholas, Devin, and Kathryn; and her mother Ila. She is predeceased by her father Rodger. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. until time of service, 4 p.m. at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co. TIGGS, MR. VALLIE; age 69; passed Sunday, February 17, 2008; at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory children Yolanda Ringstaff, Sonya (Ewatis) Crippen, Mary (Charles) Travis, Michael Sharp, Dumaka Tiggs, Marquita Nickels and Deburjae Tiggs; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives; and friends. WEAVER, M. FRED; age 69; of Rochester Hills; died February 21, 2008; after a brave and determined battle against pancreatic cancer. He was born December 4, 1938, in Rochester to the late Milton and Florence (Monser) Weaver. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1957, from Central Michigan University in 1961 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On May 12, 1962, he was married to Karen Ann Jervis. A real estate broker, he and his father owned and operated Weaver Real Estate in Rochester and retired from Weir Manuel Snyder & Ranke in 2005. A member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and past president of Oakland County Realtors. Former member of B.P.O.E. #2225, the Rochester Rotary and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Beloved husband of Karen; loving father of Janice (William) Weaver-Rex of Bath, NY, Jeffrey (Heather) Weaver of Auburn Hills and Jay (Meredith) Weaver of Atlanta, GA; special grandpa to Rachael, Ashlynn and Alivia; big brother to Gregory (Stefanie) Weaver of Bath, NY; and uncle to Skye Weaver. She is preceded in death by her husbands Howard Birdsall and Jack Salswedel. Florence graduated from Oxford High School class of 1930 and last worked at the Oxford Bank. She belonged to the Northeast Oakland Historical Society. Florence enjoyed writing poetry and loved to travel. BURRILL, JOHN C.; of Rochester Hills; died February 21, 2008; at the age of 91. John was the loving father of Michael (Pamela) Burrill of East Tawas and Dennis (Deborah) Burrill of Ortonville; cherished grandfather of 6; and great grandfather of 12; dear brother of Ronald Burrill and Phyllis Barron. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Altazarah Burrill in 2007. John was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Pontiac where he was a deacon for 11 years, an usher of 26 years, and chairman of the Christian Service Brigade for 11 years. John was retired from Pontiac Motors where he had been a security guard. A celebration of John's life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Woodside Bible Church-White Lake, 9000 Highland Road (M-59) in White Lake with Pastor Dale Peterson officiating. A time of gathering will be held one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Huntoon Funeral Home, Pontiac.

HOLTZ, GARY; 64; of Manteno. IL. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. Funeral Services at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno. Memorials may be made to the Manteno Junior Golf Program. He died Sunday, February 17, 2008; at University of Chicago Hospital. Mr. Holtz was a deputy sheriff for the Oakland County, MI, Sheriff's Department for 20 years, worked for Major Transportation Industry for 10 years, spent three years for the NTSB, served for Securitas for 10 years as risk manager and worked at Manteno Golf Course Pro Shop. He was born August 19, 1943, in Pontiac, MI, the son of Joseph Charles and Margaret Elizabeth Beyer Holtz. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and received the Purple Heart. He had two holes in one at Bon Vivant Country Club and Kankakee Country Club and caddied for Ben Hogan as a boy. Surviving are his wife, the former Teresa Calkin, whom he married July 11, 1986, in Clarkston, MI; four daughters and sons-in-law Kristin and Patrick Bates of Noblesville, IN, Kimberlee and Dawn Holtz of Royal Oak, MI, Kasondra and Brian Hansen of Ortonville, MI, Kellene and Marvin Mansour of Waterford, MI; one sister and brother-in-law Gayle and David Papke of Rochester, MI; step-children, Dean Buchanan of Clarkston, Julie and Brian Tait of Goodrich, MI; and 10 grandchildren.

KIRKWOOD, CLIFFORD JAMES SR.; of Walled Lake, MI; went to meet his Lord; on February 11, 2008; just six months after the passing of his wife of 68 years Ruth E. Kirkwood; born December 17, 1917 in Piqua, OH to Earl and Lillian Kirkwood. Clifford and Ruth lived in Walled Lake, MI for 48 years. He will be missed and survived by three children Melvin and Susie Anderson of Springfield OH, Cliff Jr. and Linda Kirkwood of Walled Lake, MI and Craig and Ruth Anne Kirkwood of Fort Wayne IN; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a brother David Kirkwood of Springfield, OH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service for Clifford will be held at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 2905 S. Commerce Road, Walled Lake MI, 48390 on March 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
