COATS, MABEL McCorquodale, (nee McClelland) of Waterford, died November 25, 2004 at 91 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Leonard W. Coats. Loving mother of Robert M. (Lois) Coats of Clarkston and M. Joyce (Ron) Dudley of Waterford. Dear grandmother of Heather M. Coats, April S. (Douglas) Haase, Heidi A. (David) Frobel, Dana J. (Greg) McInally and James F. (Roxanne) Preston, Jr.; great grandmother of Mallorie Leinenger, Brennan, Taelor and Kylee Haase, Sean and Madalyn Frobel, Brianna and Jason McInally and Emily Preston. Also survived by her brother James (Betty) McClelland of Daytona Beach, FL. Mabel was born June 7, 1913 in Port Glasgow, Scotland. She came to the United States with her parents and settled in Detroit, MI in 1923. She met and married her late husband in 1933. They moved to Waterford in 1950 where they built and opened the first Waterford funeral home in 1951. Mabel was active member and past Matron of Honor in the Metropolitan Chapter #470 O.E.S. and member of Joseph C. Bird Chapter #294 O.E.S. Clarkston for many years. She was also a member of the White Shrine, Waterford Garden Club, The American Business Women’s Association and Community of Christ Church of Waterford. She loved doing all kinds of arts and crafts and was an accomplished china painter.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Coats Funeral Home. Interment immediately follows at Ottawa Park cemetery, Clarkston.
Visitation: Sunday 3:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Monday 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Memorials: Community of Christ Church, Waterford Foundation for Public Education or Canterbury-on-the-Lake. Envelopes available at the funeral home.

COOPER, DANNY ALBERT, of Waterford, Nov. 16, 2004 at age 56. Loving father Eyvonne (Sean) Hook of W. Bloomfield. Dear son of Irene & Bill Stanley of Greenbush. Dear brother of Jerry (Linda) Cooper of Waterford, the late Peggy Lee Cooper, Michael Cooper and Patty Hurst. Also survived by his granddaughter Anna Lien Hook. Danny was a Veteran of the US Army, Vietnam. He was a cobbler, well known for his generosity who was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial Service Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, 11 am at Community of Christ Church, 1990 Crescent Lake Rd. at Tubbs Rd. in Waterford. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements entrusted to Coats Funeral Home.

KRIVENS, GERMAINE E. 'GERRI' of Pontiac, died August 19, 2004 at 83 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Harry. Loving mother of Diane Berz, Donna (Raymond) Erikson, Larry Krivens and Doreen Marti. Dearest grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 6. Sister of Art Pattyn. She was a loving mother and grandmother. A Memorial Service will be 3:00PM Sunday August 22, 2004 at Village of Oakland Woods (420 S. Opdyke, Pontiac) Mr. Douglas Selke presiding. ROTH, MARGARET LaVELLE, of Clarkston, on December 24, 2004. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Roth; her sons, Edwin (Gretchen) Adler of Lk. Angelus and Robert (Peggy) Roth of Clarkston; grandchildren, Tara, Chelsey & Jordan Roth; and her sister, Ann (Lorn)Hayes of Waterford. Preceded in death by her son, David Roth; her sisters, Willie May Smith, Clyde Schaver, Mayme Palmateer, and her brothers Charles, Wendel, and Harry Lehman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Roth founded the Food Town grocery stores in 1944, which grew to include stores in Pontiac, Waterford, Oxford, Hartland, Highland and Clarkston. She was a former member of the Central United Methodist Church in Waterford and a current member of the Clarkston United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the O.E.S., Joseph C. Bird Chapter, and the Waterford American Business Women's Assoc. where she was Woman of the Year in 1990. Funeral Service Tuesday, December 28, 2004, 11 am, at Clarkston United Methodist Church, 6600 Waldon Rd., Clarkston. Interment following at Ottawa Park cemetery, also in Clarkston. WILLIAMS, PAUL E., of Pontiac died December 28, 2004 at 56 years of age. Beloved husband of Karen for 30 years. Loving father of Shawn Callender, Dawn and Karalea Williams. Dearest grandfather of Monica, Raeanne, Jazmynne, Lindsey, Mark II and Rieley. Also survived by his brother Gary LaCross; sisters Lavera Boward, Kathy Vansickle and Euphamia Coats; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral Service: Monday, January 3, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Coats Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Combs officiating.

ASHMORE, Patricia A.; age 54 passed away at her home in Roscommon, MI. She lived in Roscommon since 1996 formerly of Waterford. Patricia was a member of the St. Helen Civic Center. In her free time Patricia enjoyed craft projects and playing BINGO. Some of her favorite hobbies were helping others and making people laugh. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Patricia is survived by her husband Larry Ashmore of Roscommon; son Charles J. Ayres of Sacramento, CA; daughter Darcy Joe Ayres of Waterford; and son Larry D. (Jennifer) Ashmore II of Ypsilanti; four grandchildren Brittany Dunn, William Ayres, Alexandria Ashmore and Sarena Ashmore; two sisters Nancy (Mike) Lafnear of Waterford and Barbara (Phil) Moore of Auburn Hills. Special uncle and aunt Roy and Marcella Best of St. Helen. There are also many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Joanne Best; brother Jerry Dale and Niece Kimberly Moore.
Funeral Service: Thursday, July 14, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford. Rev. Brian Crowe officiating. Interment following at Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester Hills.

ARMSTRONG, RONALD WILLIAM, SR. of Waterford formerly of Fenton and Glennie. July 22, 2005 at 81 years of age. Born November 11, 1923 in Metamora to the late Jay and Alice (Peck) Armstrong. Beloved husband of the late Betty Armstrong whom he married February 20, 1943. Dear father of the late Ronald (Linda) Armstrong, Bernard (Diana) Armstrong, the late Mark (Judy) Armstrong and Roger (Melinda) Armstrong. Dear brother of his twin Don Armstrong, Burt (Lottie) Armstrong, Dave Armstrong, Eunice (John) Patton and the late Bob Armstrong. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He will be missed by many wonderful family and friends. Ronald retired in 1986 from Motorcar Transport Co. after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. He was a member of the Clarkston Silver Eagles, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson in his younger years and had the pleasure of traveling to both Florida and Arizona with his wife in their motor home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford. Interment will be at Great Lakes National cemetery, Holly at a later date.
Visitation: Monday from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

BECK, CLARA MAY of Clarkston, August 19, 2004 at 92 years of age. Beloved wife of Charles Beck who she married in 1956 and the late Walter Lowry. Dear mother of Bettty Wolbrink, Joanne (Jim) Long, James (Nancy) Lowry and Bill (Sharon) Lowry and the late Robert (Shirley) Lowry. Sister of Eleanor Beason, Florence Pearn, Jake Walter, Kirby (Mary Ann) Burl and Gerry (Pat) Burl. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Clara formerly worked at Bloomfield Country Day School as head chef. She loved to be surrounded by her family and also enjoyed her gardening and baking. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2004 at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford. Interment will follow at Cowell cemetery, Fenton. Visitation on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.

ATHERTON, VIRGINIA JEAN of Waterford. September 5, 2004 at 79 years of age. Beloved wife of Robert Atherton. Dear mother of Robert (Debbie) Bowen, Ronald Bowen, George (Bev) Atherton, Paul (Connie) Atherton, Jean Succaw, Tom Atherton, Kirk (Norma) Atherton and Pat (Gary) Schultz. Sister of Richard Gibson. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Prededed in death by 7 brothers. Virginia retired from GM Fisher Body, Livonia. BOONE, LEOANRD P. “LEO” of Waterford. September 18, 2004 at 46 years of age. Beloved husband of Kimberly for 28 years. Loving father of Anthony, Andrew and Austin. Dear son of Raymond and Ruth Boone of Akron, OH formerly of Waterford. Loving brother of James (Candi) Boone of FL, Carolyn (Dan) Filiatrault of CA and Walter (Michelle) Boone of Waterford. Leo is also survived by his in-laws Harry (Joan) Downs of Davisburg & Mercedes Hadley of Petosky and dear friends Kevin and Alison McCort of Waterford. Also survived by other loving family members and many friends. Leo owned and operated Lafayette Coney Island in Oakland Mall and Westland Mall. He loved his family, boating and golfing. BROWN, ROBERT E. of Waterford. August 3, 2004 at 75 years of age. Loving husband of Arlene for 55 years. Dear father of Sharon (Doug) Agren of Lewiston, Neil Robert Brown of GA, Ronald Bruce (Theresa) Brown of White Hall, Diane Marie (Roger) Haworth of Lewiston, Dennis Paul (Pamela) Brown of NC and Cary Scott Brown of Novi. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Robert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1948. He had a great sense of humor and was a huge prankster who loved and adored his family. Robert was proud to be an Eagle Scout. He loved the outdoors and especially liked to work in his yard. He loved card games, crossword puzzles and horseshoes. He especially enjoyed his personal computer. Funeral service Friday, August 6, 2004 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 114 S. Genesee, Pontiac. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Cultural Center in Rochester Hills. Visitation Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME and at church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service. BURKETT, BARBARA A. of Lake Orion, October 11, 2004 at 68 years of age. Loving mother of Scott Price, Kim (Kevin) Radisewitz, David (Nora) Burkett, the late Jeffrey Burkett, Christine (Chris) Jaggi, Eric (Jessie) Burkett and Nicole (John) Hyatt. Dearest grandmother of Christopher, Jenesey, Curtis, Ethan, Cassidy and Isaac. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother whose grandchildren are the most gifted in the world! Charles retired as a supervisor of the Oakland County Health Dept. in Environmental Health with over 50 years in the industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII.

Cooper of N.M, Michele (Tim) Marth of Holly, John (Brenda) Cooper of Waterford and the late Wendy Cooper (1977). Devoted grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 2. Janie was a graduate of the original Waterford H. S.. She was a life member and served as secretary in the 1960’s of Community Activities Inc. in Waterford. She then served as bookkeeper for Firebird Lanes for many years. Janie was a former Waterford Jaycette, an avid golfer (the Silverbells), doll & afghan maker and was self taught on the computer. Funeral Weds., Aug. 18, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at COATS FUNERAL HOME, Waterford. Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Interment following at Ottawa Park cemetery in Clarkston. COUTURIER, LEONARD AUSTIN of Waterford since 1947. September 29, 2004 at 82 years of age. Beloved husband of Hilda Couturier for 61 years. Dear father of Cheryl (David) Mehlberg, Sandra (Spencer) Wycoff, Susan Hoban, Connie (Gary) Mastick and Michael (Cynthia) Couturier. Brother of William J. Couturier, Jr., Jean Gibson, Patricia Putnam, Irvin Couturier and the late Esther Vert, Milton, Donald, Norman and Alfred Couturier. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Leonard was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was veteran of the U.S. Army WWII and retired from Consumers Power after 36 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf.

CURTIS, LYLE RICHARD of Auburn Hills. October 20, 2004 at 73 years of age. He was born October 19, 1931 to the late Basil and Bertha (Schauer) Curtis. Beloved husband of Lois Curtis. Dear father of Julie Spencer, Becky (Rev. Greg) Trueblood and Jeffrey (Chrissy) Curtis. Grandfather of Chris, Amy and Drew Spencer, Clay and Ashlyn Themm, Jeremy, Jimmy, Chelsea and Cassie Curtis. Brother of Dixie (Darwin) Buhl, Mary (Sherry) Mapley, Betty Curtis, Joyce Hendley, Larry Curtis, Cindy Monroe, the late Shirley Fannon and Kathleen Milliron. Lyle retired from Pontiac Motor in 1988 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Harvestland Ministries, formerly First Open Bible Church of Pontiac.
