James E. Nadeau

Feb. 7, 1920-Dec. 5, 2002

James E. Nadeau, 82, of Monroe died at 10:26 a.m. Thursday at the Mercy Memorial Hospital emergency room.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Allore Funeral Home, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. William Fisher of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery with a military service by the Selfridge Air Force Base Honor Guard Unit.

Born Feb. 7, 1920 in Monroe, he was the son of Moses J. and Mable Mary (Dushane) Nadeau. He married Mildred Hart on April 2, 1944 in Halls, Tenn.

He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Monroe for 26 years as lead tool and die maker, and previously worked at Monroe Auto Equipment for 26 years. He retired in 1989.

He was a captain in the Air Force during World War II and served in Korea from 1942 to 1956. He served in Europe with the 8th Air Corps, and also served in Okinawa. A bombardier and navigator, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and many other military medals.

A 1937 Monroe High School graduate, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of UAW Local 723. He enjoyed bird watching, crossword puzzles, sports, and was an avid Red Wings fan.

Surviving are his wife; a son, James L. (Jacqueline) of LaSalle; four daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Southworth, Linda A. (James) Dobson, Kay (Kevin) Baker, and Karen Nadeau, all of Monroe; a brother, Rolland (Eula) of Monroe; four sisters, Marguerite Alexander, Mabel Bourbina, Genevieve Bourbina, and Mary (Robert) Bourbina, all of Monroe; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Thomas John Saam

Aug. 3, 1941-Dec. 7, 2002

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Thomas John Saam, 61, of Toledo, who has relatives in Monroe County, died Saturday in St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Toledo

Frank Henry Ridder

Jan. 11, 1947-Oct. 14, 2002

HURON TOWNSHIP – Frank Henry Ridder, 55, of Huron Township died of natural causes Monday in his home.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. John Negele, pastor of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brownstown Township, will officiate. Cremation will follow.

Born Jan. 11, 1947, in Trenton, he was the son of Stephen and Rosamund (Mayrand) Ridder. He married Susan Peterhans June 28, 1968, in Garden City.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Joseph of Ann Arbor and Frank T. of Dearborn Heights; a daughter, Pamela (Dave) Roehl of Belleville; two brothers, Stephen (Mary) of Hale and Theodore (Joan) of Flat Rock, and two sisters, Regina (Charles) Van Doren of Washington, D.C., and Mary (William) Whitlock of Seattle, Wash.

Michael J. Blair

June 8, 1965-Oct. 9, 2002

TOLEDO – Michael J. Blair, 37, of Toledo, formerly of Luna Pier, died Wednesday at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe.

Cremation has taken place. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Toledo. Those planning to attend should contact Linda Blair. Bennett Funeral Home’s Erie location is in charge of arrangements.

Born June 8, 1965, in Toledo, he was the son of David and Jeanne (Johnson) Blair.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Dolly Blair, both of Luna Pier; two daughters, Tiana Pennington of Luna Pier and Penny Blair of Erie; two brothers, David and Richard, both of Erie; three sisters, Susan Penwell of Florida, Sally Cousino of Erie and Kathy Gurman of Luna Pier, and a grandson.

Eula G. Owsley

Sept. 15, 1931-Oct. 14, 2002

LAKELAND, Fla. – Eula G. Owsley, 71, of Lakeland, formerly of Monroe, died Monday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She had been ill for 5½ years.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Von Loop, pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born Sept. 15, 1931, in Claiborne County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Arch and Ellie (Sandifer) Wilson. She married Robert M. Owsley April 30, 1951, in Middlesboro, Ky.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Douglas (Donna) of Monroe; two daughters, Deborah (Dale) Libstroff of Monroe and Karen Redmond of Lakeland; a brother, Frank (Rose) of Lakeland; two sisters, Axie Graves of Monroe and Jeanette (Kyle) Ball of Harlan, Ky.; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Bertram Davis

Oct. 10, 1909-Oct. 12, 2002

TEMPERANCE – Kenneth Bertram Davis, 93, of Temperance died Saturday at Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek, Perrysburg Township.

There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be in Marion, Ohio. Bedford Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 10, 1909, in Marion, he was the son of Clarence and Mary (Collins) Davis. He married Marion Isabelle Bland Feb. 15, 1930, in Marion, Ohio. She died Sept. 6, 1994.

Surviving are a son-in-law, Edward McLaughlin of Temperance; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Joanna (Annie) Jones

Dec. 29, 1952-Oct. 14, 2002

Services have been set for Joanna (Annie) Jones, 49, of Monroe, who died of natural causes at 11:13 p.m. Monday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may call from 10 until memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born Dec. 29, 1952, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Morris E. and Katherine (Lane) Cheatham Sr. She married Curtis Lee (Fuzzy) Jones in 1992. He died June 5.

Surviving are a stepson, Frank Julius Jones of Detroit; a daughter, Dawnyelle Hampton of Brownstown Township; three brothers, Morris E. “Butch” (Joan) Jr. of Monroe, Willard L. Sr. of Indianapolis, and Lloyd Sr. of Monroe; three sisters, Pauline Smith of Pomona, Calif., Marsha J. Montague of Monroe and Burnetta Sloss-Tanner of Indianapolis, and several grandchildren.

Kenneth H. Meyerholtz

Feb. 5, 1910 – Oct. 14, 2002

LUNA PIER – Kenneth H. Meyerholtz, 92, of Luna Pier died Monday at Medilodge of Monroe.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Toledo, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 5, 1910, in Hamler, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Matilda Meyerholtz. He married Ruth Krauss Oct. 26, 1940, in Peace Lutheran Church of Toledo.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth H. Meyerholtz Jr. of Monroe; two daughters, Mary Lynne (Mike) Tipp and Patsy N. (Chuck) Norton, both of Grosse Pointe, and six grandchildren.

Ruth L. (Parker) Wright

April 27, 1922-Oct. 14, 2002

Ruth Lee (Parker) Wright, 80, of Monroe and Springtown, W. Va., died at 1:23 a.m. Monday in Mercy Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Services were held at Rupp Funeral Home.

Born April 27, 1922, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of Raymond and Georgianna (Carsonic) Parker. She married John W. Wright Sr. He died in 1984.

She is survived by two sons, James E. (Jean) of Maybee and John E. (Sherry) Jr. of Mannington, W. Va.; two daughters, Patricia Ann (Lawrence) Reynolds of Mannington and Janis L. of Berkley; two brothers, J.R. of Dallas and William of Fairmont, W. Va.; three sisters, Dorothy Cogar of Fairmont, Betty Vines of Sarasota, Fla., and Delores Anderson of South Carolina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carmela R. Carrabino

June 21, 1922-Oct. 15, 2002

Services have been set for Carmela R. Carrabino, 80, of Monroe who died at 12:41 a.m. Tuesday at Mercy Memorial Hospita after a long illness. She had been seriously ill for five months.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the rosary, led by Kathy DuBay, will be rectied at 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Rooney, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born June 21, 1922, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Geateano and Rose (Sicuso) Russo. She married Samuel J. Carrabino Sr. April 20, 1947, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Detroit.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, John (Robin) of Monroe and Samuel Jr. (Barbara) of Temperance; two daughters, JoAnn (Allan) Knaak of Ann Arbor and Connie (Tom) Norman of Carleton; seven sisters, Francis Gianino of Warren, Mary Petruzzulo of Shelby Township, Jennie Milloca of Warren, Virginia (Robert) DiFozlo of Cape Coral, Fla., Rose (Santo) Bellestri of Monroe, Catherin (Gregory) DiGrego of Roseville and Josephine (Patrick) Carnacchi of Troy; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Irvin J. Bledowski

Feb. 10, 1948-Oct. 8, 2002

HILLSDALE – Irvin J. Bledowski, 54, of Hillsdale, formerly of Maybee, died Oct. 8 in his home, after a long illness.

There will be no visitation. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph cemetery, Maybee. The Rev. William Fisher, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Maybee. Liedel Funeral Home, Maybee, was in charge of arrangements.

Born Feb. 10, 1948, in Monroe, he was the son of Irvin A. and Geneieve (Born) Bledowski.

Surviving is a sister, Carolyn Bledowski of Belleville.

Karen A. Bossick Oary

Oct. 16, 1959-Oct. 16, 2002

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP – Karen A. Bossick Oary, 43, of Brownstown Township died of natural causes Wednesday at Oakwood Hospital Annapolis Center, Wayne.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth O’Rourke, pastor of Downriver Christian Comm-unity Church, Melvindale, will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township.

Born Oct. 16, 1959, in Lincoln Park, she was the daughter of Lewis E. and Janet (Tochalauski) Bossick.

Surviving are her parents of Brownstown Tonwship; a son, Edward Ernest Fairchild II of Romulus; a daughter, Vanessa Dawn Oary of Brownstown Township; a brother, Terry of Brownstown Township, and a sister, Penny Young of Brownstown Township.

Estella F. Beamish

July 25, 1916-Oct. 16, 2002

Estella F. Beamish, 86, of Monroe died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday at TenderCare of Monroe. She had been ill for three weeks.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at 1 at St. Michael Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Rooney, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born July 25, 1916, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Joseph G. and Mabel A. (LaVigne) Weiss. She married Thomas E. Beamish Sept. 3, 1938, at St. Michael Catholic Church. He died June 4.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice M. (Leonard) Busenbark of Monroe; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
