Gene J. Jacobs

Gene J. Jacobs, 71, died Thursday in his home. He had been ill the past five months.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 tonight and from noon to nine Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where the rosary will be read at 4 p.m. Sunday. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, then at 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church. The Rev. Terrence Kerner will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park under the auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to Katie Zawodny of Toledo, who Mr. Jacobs made his home with, he is survived by two sons, Ronald J. of Monroe and Christopher L. of LaSalle; two daughters, Jacqueline J. (Richard) Knapp, and Lisa M. (Forrest) Chambers, both of Monroe; three brothers, James of LaSalle, Glen of Ida, and Ed (Jean) of Toledo; two sisters, JoAnna Borck of Temperance, and Mary (Ethern) Lambert of Monroe; and four granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Kehrer, and an infant brother.
David H. Maurer

David H. Maurer, 74, of Monroe died at 10:12 a.m. Friday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Timothy Babcock, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, will officiate. Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will also perform a service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.
He is survived by a brother, Dale W. (Carrie) of Monroe; three sisters, June M. Maurer of Farmington Hills, and Lois J. (Ronald) Stotz, and Emma Lou (Paul) Hedrick, both of Monroe.
Bonnie L. Shover
Aug. 28, 1920 -- Oct. 20, 2002
Bonnie L. Shover, 82, of Monroe died at 6 p.m. Sunday at home. She had been in ill health since July.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Baptist Church. The Rev. Rex Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock.
Born Aug. 28, 1920, in Hazen, Ariz., she was the daughter of Leslie and Addie (McMullen) Elliott. She married John R. Shover Sept. 18, 1940, in Napoleon, Ohio. He died Aug. 7, 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda M. (Mark) Spenoso of Monroe; a sister, Hazel Gorno of Trenton, and a granddaughter.
Charles J. Siterlet
Feb. 7, 1929 -- Oct. 18, 2002
Charles James Siterlet, 73, of Monroe died at 12:15 a.m. Friday in his home. He had been ill since July.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Allore Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Terrence Kerner, St. Johns Catholic Church, will officiate.
He made his home with Janith Brooks in Monroe the past 20 years.
In addition to Ms. Brooks, he is survived by two sons, Charles Thomas and Terry; two stepsons, John Brooks of Las Vegas, and George (Margaret) Brooks of Carleton; two daughters, Cindy and Suzanne; six stepdaughters, Geneva (Dave) Loop of Ida, Holly (Paul) Hinkley, Julie (Richard) Jay, Jacquelyn McDonald, Becky Brooks and Barbara Brooks, all of Monroe, a brother, Donald of Michigan; four sisters, Jenny Bost, Mary Bertha Wohlfiel, Florence (Clarence) Roof, all of Carleton, and Anne (Patrick) Basile of Monroe, and several grandchildren, 19 step grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Thelma, he was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and Steven.

MAYBEE - Darlene Estes, 45, of Maybee, died at 3:12 p.m. Sunday in her home under the care of Ann Arbor Hospice.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Harold Raymond from Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ida, will officiate and burial will be in Rath cemetery.
Born Aug. 7, 1957, in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of William and Recile (Duncan) Estes. She was engaged to Greg Jones of Maybee.
Surviving are one son, Shane (Kim) of Petersburg; two brothers, Ray (JoAnn) of Springfield and Rick (Gloria) of Stony Point; three sisters, Cindy (Frank) Rice of Monroe, Margaret (Wilbur) Barbie of Georgia and Linda Estes of Springfield, and two grandchildren.
Lillie Mae Shipe

Lillie Mae Shipe, 77, of Monroe died at 1:29 this morning at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been in poor health for three years and seriously ill since May.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jeffrey Luttrell, pastor of Westland Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born May 7, 1925, in Harrington, Tenn., she was the daughter of Harim and Dora Mae (Dean) Hounchel. She married Hobart L. Shipe Dec. 5, 1950, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Bruce (Lori) and David (Susen), both of Monroe; two daughters, Brenda (Fred) VanDaele and Dinah (Gorland) Patterfritz, both of Monroe; two sisters, Mary Dillman and Kate Tripp, both of Indiana; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

TEMPERANCE -- Lee R. (Whitey) Travis Sr., 80, of Temperance died Saturday at Toledo Hospital.
Friends may call until 9 tonight at Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Dr. Rodney K. Haselhuhn, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
Born Jan. 6, 1922, in Toledo, he was the son of Lee Roy and Nellie (Greene) Travis. He married Faye Bryan Nov. 11, 1942, in Toledo.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Lee (Loretta) Travis Jr., of Temperance; a daughter, Roxann (John) Satkowski of Temperance; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Grace A. Crooks

FLAT ROCK - Grace Adelaide Crooks, 82, of Flat Rock died Saturday at Oakwood South Shore Medical Center, Trenton.
Friends may call until 8 tonight at the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Flat Rock. The Rev. Evans C. Bentley, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation will take place under the direction of Southern Michigan Services, Livonia.
Born Jan. 31, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Stephen and Florence (Lulu) Rich. Her husband, Kenneth, died in 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie (John) Henkel of Bellvue, Wash.; a brother, Fred Rich of Palestine, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. George (Edith) Smith of Wagner, S.D., and five granddaughters.
Barbara J. Johnson

Barbara J. Johnson, 72, of Monroe died at 11 p.m. Sunday at home. She had been in ill health for five years and seriously ill for a year.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10 a.m. until services at 11 Thursday at Church of God, Mountain Assembly. The Rev. Rick Massingill, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Fred Cornelius, retired pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born Aug. 7, 1930, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Sam and Mildred (Stanifer) Cadle. She married Ron Lee Johnson Sr. April 2, 1946.
In addition to her husband, surviving are her mother, Mildred Cadle-Wylie of Monroe; four sons, Ron Lee (Sally) Jr. of Ida, Samuel K. (Debby) of Wyandotte, Spurgeon D. of Monroe and Duane A. (Melanie) of Ann Arbor; eight daughters, Gloria J. (Richard) Hauter of Crystal River, Fla., LaRonda “Butchie” (Lowell Jr.) Mack of Heiskell, Tenn., Vickie L. (Charles) Bondy of Maynardville, Tenn., Linda D. (Donald) Petree of LaSalle, Barbara J. (Tim) Johnson of Farmington Hills and Tammy J. (Greg) Foster, Sharon R. (William) Friedline and Debra E. (Jack) Walton, all of Monroe; three sisters, Joann (Bernard) Wendell, Jackie Moore and Joyce (Al) Sutherland, all of Monroe; 29 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Lorene Reynolds

TOLEDO — Services have been set for Lorene Reynolds, 69, of Toledo, formerly of Dundee, who died at 1:30 a.m. Monday at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. Graveside services will be held later at Maple Grove cemetery, Dundee. Cover Funeral Home, Dundee, is in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 15, 1932, in Hacklesburg, Ala., she was the daughter of Austin and Ida (Mason) McCarley. She married Ralph Schriver, and he preceded her in death. She married Glen Reynolds Oct. 17, 1962, in Ohio. He died March 20, 1983.
Surviving are her mother of Hacklesburg, Ala.: two sons, Mike Schriver of Sacramento, Calif., and Anthony Reynolds of Toledo; a daughter, Karen Petrosky of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Ossie McCarley and Zelma McCarley; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Angela Morrin

ERIE – Services have been set for Angela Morrin, 84, of Erie, who died Tuesday. She had been in declining health since July.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, Temperance, where Scripture services will be held at 7:30 tonight and the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Services are at 9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and 10:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Deerfield, she was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (LaVoy) McCarty. She married Woodrow Morrin on April 26, 1940, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died May 24, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Howard (Carolyn) of Monroe and Kevin (Meg) of Erie; four daughters, Janice Martin of New Canaan, Conn., Joyce Wiseman of Toledo, Annette (Chris Maher) Morrin of Lambertville, and Susan LaPointe of Monroe; a sister, Juanita Martin; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Catherine Prochnow

Services have been set for Catherine F. Prochnow, 76, of Monroe Township, who died at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Stanley AuBuchon, administrative pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born July 8, 1926, in Monroe Township, she was the daughter of Carl and Marget (Steiner) Hale. She married Reford A. Prochnow on Oct. 5, 1946, in Toledo. He died June 19, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, David of Flat Rock and Gary (Patricia) Prochnow of Bedford Township; a daughter, Cynthia K. (Ronald) Matthews of Monroe; a sister, Frances (Lloyd) West of Monroe; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Loretta Wright

YPSILANTI – Services have been set for Loretta Wright, 91, of Ypsilanti, formerly of Monroe, who died early Tuesday morning at home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
She was born Oct. 9, 1911, in New Orleans, La. She married John Wright in 1955, and he is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Thomas; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
