Ivan H. (Fuzzy) Harris

July 10, 1912 - Dec. 1, 2002

DUNDEE — Ivan H. (Fuzzy) Harris, 90, of Dundee, died at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at TenderCare of Monroe.

There will be no visitation. Services will be scheduled at a later date. Cover Funeral Home of Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Born July 10, 1912, in Hartman, Colo., he was the son of Fred and Katheryn (Grow) Harris. He married Mary Brackenell April 39, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She died April 15, 2001.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Jeanette Smith and Barbara Meagher, both of Dundee; a stepbrother, Louis Coy of Colorado; a sister, Grace Nicholson of Texas; nine stepgrandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren, and a step-great-great-grandchild.

Billie T. McFadden

Sept. 3, 1932 --Dec. 1, 2002

LaSALLE --Billie T. McFadden, 70, of LaSalle died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday at the home of his sister, Barbara Blair. He had been in ill health for six months.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednes-day. The Rev. Roy Souther-land, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in LaSalle Township cemetery.

Born Sept. 3, 1932, in Harlan County, Ky., he was the son of Martin and Mary (Farley) McFadden. He married M. Emily Miracle in December, 1957, in Monroe.

Surviving are three sons, Martin of Richmond, David (Karen) of Monroe and Billy Ray of Warren; two daughters, Lori (Rusty) Miracle of LaSalle and Melissa (Matt) Horrigan of Monroe; three brothers, Potter McFadden of Kentucky, Charles “Fred” (Sarah) Blair of Big Laurel, Ky., and Mickey (Ella) Blair of Monroe; five sisters, Ester Polen of Russellville, Ky., Jewel (Greg) Evert of Corbin, Ky., Georgia (Roy) Maxey of London, Ky., Corina (William) Wyan of Mesquite, Texas, and Barbara Blair of LaSalle, and 10 grandchildren.

Flora J. Smith

Nov. 7, 1914-Nov. 30, 2002

Flora J. Smith, 88, of Monroe died Saturday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

There will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place. Rupp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born Nov. 7, 1914, in Lone Mountain, Tenn., she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Welch) Corbin. She married Lester A. Smith July 2, 1932, in Pineville, Ky. He died May 22, 1984.

Surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Cardwell of Monroe; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Marvlin (June) Sterns

June 5, 1955-Nov. 29, 2002

Services have been set for Marvlin (June) Sterns, 47, of Monroe, who died of natural causes at 8:36 p.m. Friday in her home.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella Chapel. The Rev. John H. Schneider, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born June 5, 1955, in Toledo, she was the daughter of Lester M. and Irene G. (Scott) Bankston.

Surviving are her mother of Monroe; a brother, Bobby Dean (Brenda) of Monroe, and three step-grandchildren.

D.J. (Spot) Thompson

Dec. 21, 1930 -- Dec. 2, 2002

IDA TOWNSHIP --D.J. (Spot) Thompson, 71, of Ida Township died Monday at home.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bedford Funeral Chapel, Temperance, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. DeWeerd Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born Dec. 21, 1930, in Bad Axe, he was the son of David and Anna (Heck) Thompson. He married Rose Marie Witfoth April 18, 1960. She died Feb. 12, 1993.

Surviving are a son, Rodney “Rocky” (Deanna) Thompson of Temperance; two daughters, Mary Meagher of Toledo and Diane Willets of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Irvin Thompson of Roseville and Lawrence Thompson of Dade City, Fla.; four sisters, Mary Hazzard of Bad Axe, and Zelma Bower, Ruth Gilbert and Bessie Champagne, all of Alton; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Raymond Daniel Kwader

Sept. 13, 1932-Dec. 1, 2002

TEMPERANCE --Services have been set for Raymond Daniel Kwader, 70, of Temperance, who died Sunday in his home.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bedford Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at 10 at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Toledo. The Rev. James Auth will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Toledo.

Born Sept. 13, 1932, in Toledo, he was the son of Anthony and Irene (Brzuchalski) Kwader. He married Marian Strzesinski Nov. 18, 1961, in Toledo. She died Feb. 24, 1990.

Surviving are three sons, Ricky Hilton of Belleville, Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Allen (Mechelle) Kwader of Fort Hood, Texas, and Kevin Andrew Kwader of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Victoria (Brian Speer) Mate of Temperance; and a granddaughter.

Mathilda Tyler

Nov. 16, 1914-Dec. 2, 2002

SALINE --Mathilda Tyler, 88, a resident of Saline Evangelical Nursing Home since March, 1998, formerly of Dundee, died this morning at Saline Community Hospital’s emergency room.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida. Private services will be held Thursday.

Born Nov. 16, 1914, in Fairhope, Ala., she was the daughter of the Rev. Carl and Allda (Olson) Johnson. She was raised by her stepmother, Edith Johnson. She married David Tyler Jan. 18, 1942. He died June 2, 1996.

Surviving are two sons, David (Veda) of Dundee and Rodney (Rita) of Petersburg; a daughter, Cynthia (Ron) Carpenter of Hudson; two sisters, Juanita (Joe) Martin of Colona, Ill., and Barbara Upton of Burlington, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Johnson of Burlington, Ill., and Mary Johnson of Gillette, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

David M. Snavely

Jan. 23, 1949-Dec. 1, 2002

Services have been set for David M. Snavely, 53, of Monroe, who died at 11 a.m. Sunday at Mercy Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 today and from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. He will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Born Jan. 23, 1949, in Monroe, he was the son of Chester and Una (Cooley) Snavely. He married Wanda L. Ward Aug. 3, 1968, in Monroe.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Jeffrey (Kathleen) of Temperance; two daughters, Melissa (David) McCracken of Monroe and Andrea Snavely at home; a brother, Ronald (Wanda M.) of Monroe, and two sisters, Roxanne (Thomas) Morris of Monroe and Diana (Roger) Wery of Green Bay, Wis.

Marjorie Pennington

Sept. 22, 1915-Nov. 25, 2002

SIDNEY, Ohio --Marjorie G. Pennington, 87, a resident of the Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney and an assistant director of nursing for the Monroe County Health Department from 1961-71, died at 10:55 a.m. Nov. 25 following a long bout with pneumonia.

There will be no visitation. Her body was donated to the anatomical gift program at the Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the retirement community, where she had lived since 1980. The facility’s chaplain will officiate.

Born Sept. 22, 1915, in Blakesburg, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Zelma Glosser. She married Freeman R. Pennington on July 21, 1944, in Monroe. He died in October, 1979. The couple formerly lived near the Doty farm on N. Custer Rd. in Raisinville Township.

She is survived by a son, Don P. of Evansville, Ind., and two grandchildren.

Thomas Hanzek

March 14, 1925-Dec. 2, 2002

Thomas Hanzek, 77, of Monroe died at 5:23 p.m. Monday in the emergency room at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella Chapel. He will lie in state from 10 a.m. until a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Rooney, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born March 14, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph J. and Maggie (Kovich) Hanzek. He moved to Monroe in 1974 from Warren. He married Mary Ammerata Aug. 10, 1974, at St. Mary Catholic Church. She died in April, 1983.

He is survived by two brothers, Morris (Celia L.) of Romeo, and Dr. Donald K. (Mickey) of Menominee.

Eileen J. (Braun) Wunder

Sept. 10. 1922-Dec. 2, 2002

TEMPERANCE — Eileen J. (Braun) Wunder, 80, of Temperance, died Monday in The Hospice of Northwest Ohio Inpatient Unit after a short illness.

Visitation will be private. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she will lie in state after noon. Dr. Frank Paine, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 10, 1922 in Peru, Ind., she was the daughter of Julius and Anna (Leibo) Braun. She married Wayne Wunder Dec. 21, 1940, in Paris, Ky. He died in 1986.

Surviving are a son, Phillip J. (Susan) Wunder of Temperance; a daughter, Sandra (Lee) Bair of Marshall; six sisters, Alice (Robert) Rang and Ester Trapp, both of Temperance, Mary Metty of Erie, Marjorie Woods of Swanton, Ohio, Florence Riehm of Oregon, Ohio, and Joyce (William) Taylor of Bradenton, Fla.; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Antoinette (Toni) Szymkowiak

Dec. 12, 1909-Dec. 2, 2002

Services have been set for Antoinette (Toni) Szymkowiak, 92, a resident of Medilodge of Monroe, formerly of Petersburg, who died Monday afternoon at Mercy Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida. The Rev. John LaCasse, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Ida.

Born Dec. 12, 1909, in Claridge, Pa., she was the daughter of John and Anna (Halande) Bofia. She married Ernest Szymkowiak. He died in November, 1948.

Surviving are a son, Ernest “Sonny” (Mary) of Ida; three daughters, Madeline (Ronald) Schultz of Toledo, JoAnn (Eugene) Dusseau of Temper-ance and Sharon (Douglas) Bagley of Petersburg; two sisters, Angeline Kropaczewski of Toledo and Frances Fraizier of Temperance; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Edward L. Beverly Jr.

Jan. 17, 1937 --Dec. 3, 2002

PETERSBURG — Edward Lloyd Beverly Jr., 65, of Petersburg, died Tuesday at Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. John Mehl, pastor of Petersburg United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery.

Born Jan. 17, 1937, in Ida Township, he was the son of Edward Sr. and Lillian (Todd) Beverly. He married Jeanette Hoffman Aug. 9, 1958, in Dundee.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Diana McKeeber of Lambertville and Teresa (Dan) Herzog of Florida; a brother, Arnold (Margaret) Beverly of Temperance; two sisters, Mabel Fish of Monroe and Linda Kurasz of Glennie; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
