Martha O. Daniels

Jan. 9, 1922 --Nov. 14, 2002

KISSIMMEE, Fla. --Martha O. Daniels, 80, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Monroe, died Nov. 14 of congestive heart failure. She had been seriously ill for two years.

Services and burial were held Nov. 19 in Osceola Memory Gardens in Florida. The Rev. Larry Maddox and the Rev. Don Kaufman officiated. Grissom Funeral Home of Kissimmee handled the arrangements.

Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of Emile and Lore Overman. She married Howard Daniels Jan. 26, 1957. He died June 3, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (Mark) Rogers of Kissimmee; a stepdaughter, Janice (William) Edmondson of Monroe; a stepson, Dean (Dianne) Daniels of Iowa City, Iowa; a brother, Ray Overman of Springfield, Ohio; three sisters, Caroline Moll of Cincinnati, Mary Shaw of Winter Park, Fla., and Joy Pitzer of Springfield, Ohio; two grandsons; 10 stepgrandchildren, and some stepgreat-grandchildren.

Madiline M. Boyd

Nov. 23, 1932 --Nov. 25, 2002

NAPLES, Fla. --Madiline M. Boyd, 70, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Flat Rock, died Nov. 25 in Naples.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Timothy A. Ammon of Hope Baptist Church, Romulus, will officiate.

She was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Napoleon, Ohio.

Surviving are three sons, Michael E. (Linda) and Gary A., both of Naples, and Robert E. of Clinton Township; a sister, Lillian Fossett of Naples, a sister-in-law, Shirley Fossett of Flat Rock, and two grandchildren.

Troy Milton Sr.

Dec. 30, 1934-Dec. 4, 2002

Troy Milton Sr., 67, of Monroe died at 9:01 a.m. Wednesday at Maplewood Manor.

Family hour will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Earle Little Funeral Home, Bacarella Chapel, where services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Alfred Overstreet will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born Dec. 30, 1934, in Cordova, Tenn., he was the son of Cliff and Willie B. (Johnson) Milton Sr. He married Verlene Allen Sept. 4, 1974, in Toledo.

Surviving are his mother of Flint; five sons, Troy Milton Jr. of Milwaukee, Wis., Larry C. Aaron of Carleton and Kelly D. (Christy) Aaron, Derick O. (Adrienne) Aaron and Daryl L. (Brandi) Aaron, all of Monroe; a stepson, Ernest P. Aaron of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Debbie R. Morris of Detroit and Sharon E. (Walter Carter) Aaron of Monroe; three brothers, Cliff Jr. and Robert, both of Flint and Henry (Ozelia) of Akron, Ohio; six sisters, Beatrice Jones, Sarah Milton, Dorothy (William) Gipson and Annie L. Gordon, all of Flint, Georgia Williams of Arkansas and Lillian Parker of Detroit; 28 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Steven L. Kriekaard

July 17, 1943-Nov. 24, 2002

LUNA PIER --Steven L. Kriekaard, 59, of Luna Pier died of cancer Nov. 24 in his home.

There were no funeral services. His body was donated to the Medical College of Ohio, Ohio. Cremation will take place at a later date. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at Luna Pier Community Chapel. The Rev. Dick Ginger will officiate.

Born July 17, 1943, in Grand Rapids, he married Lorraine H. (Glanz) April 4, 1987.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Garrett McFarland of Clinton; a daughter, Tamara Steele of Sterling Heights; a brother, John (Diane) of Grand Rapids; a sister, Carol (Tom) Loehman of Huntington, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Helen K. Dazarow

Oct. 21, 1929-Dec. 5, 2002

Services have been set for Helen K. Dazarow, 73, of Monroe, who died Thursday in her home.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and at 11 at St. Michael Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Rooney, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Born Oct. 21, 1929, in Belleville, she was the daughter of Louis and Stella Dazarow.

She worked in the chemical department at River Raisin Paper Co. and Jefferson Smurfit for more than 30 years.

A 1947 graduate of Monroe High School, she attended St. Michael Catholic Church.

Surviving are a brother, Steven C. of Monroe, and a sister, Josephine E. Dazarow of Monroe.

Louis Wojcik

July 28, 1927-Dec. 6, 2002

SOUTH ROCKWOOD – Louis Wojcik, 75, of South Rockwood died at 9:05 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. He had been ill for a year.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 tonight and from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Ford Chapel of the Allore Martenson Funeral Home, Rockwood, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Robert Karacson of Lakepointe Community Church, Rockwood, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Rockwood, under the auspices of the Downriver Honor Guard.

Born July 28, 1927 in Detroit, he was the son of Joseph and Francis (Gasidrek) Wojcik. He married Beverly Ann Cole on July 13, 1987 in Monroe. He was a pipefitter at Chrysler Corp.’s Trenton Engine Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 and was aboard a sub-chaser during World War II. He was a member of UAW Local 372 and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Joseph (Debbie) of Ida, Robert (Debbie) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, Gerald Quick of Bloomfield Hills and Randy (Diane) Quick of Auburn Hills; three daughters, Sharon (Terry) Taylor of Flat Rock, Janice (Steve) Dardzinski of Wyandotte, and Connie (Roy) Poff of Grosse Ile; two stepdaughters, Deborah (Robert) Gibbs and Theresa (Terry) Garnett, both of Rochester Hills; a sister, Elizabeth Rogers of Livonia; 18 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Vickie L. Hinzmann

Jan. 2, 1944 – Dec. 7, 2002

FLAT ROCK – Vickie L. Hinzmann, 58, of Flat Rock died Saturday in Flat Rock.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, Wyandotte. The Rev. Norman Kirsch, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Huron Valley cemetery, Flat Rock.

Born Jan. 2, 1944, in Vancouver, Wash., she was the daughter of Charles G. and Vivian (Parkins) Andres. She married LeRoy Hinzmann March 3, 1964, in Detroit.

In addition to her husband, surviving are her mother, Vivian Dillard of Flat Rock; two sons, William Nungester of South Rockwood and Steven Hinzmann of Ann Arbor; a daughter, Teresa Hinzmann of Flat Rock; three brothers, Bob Dillard of Chicago, Don Andres of Pasco, Wash., and Tony Andres of Winthrop, Wash.; two sisters, Jackie Milot of Lincoln Park and Mary Cherry of Pasco, Wash., and two grandchildren.

Betty May (Green) Smith

Dec. 27, 1924-Dec. 7, 2002

Betty May (Green) Smith, 77, of Monroe died Saturday at TenderCare of Monroe Nursing home.

A private service will be held for immediate family members at Girrbach-Krasun Funeral Home, Southgate. The Rev. James Castleman will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park cemetery, Huron Township.

Born in Logansport, Ind., she was the daughter of Paul and Cleo Good.

Surviving are a son, James Green; a daughter, Shirley Washburn of Monroe; a sister, Marta Edwards of Wyandotte; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Green, and a sister-in-law, Molly Green both of Wyandotte.

Philip J. Baker

Oct. 30, 1915-Dec 6, 2002

BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. – Philip J. Baker, 87, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., formerly of Monroe, died Friday at Sebastian River Medical Center, Barefoot Bay.

Services were to have been held today at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at a later date.

Born Oct. 30, 1915 in Adrian, he was the son, Harry and Agnes Baker. He married his wife, Virginia, in 1964.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Mike Herrick of College Station, Texas; three daughters, Carole (Larry) Meier of Florence, S.C., Pamela Anderson of Lincoln Park and Patricia (Rennie) Gibb of Barefoot Bay; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.

Edward J. Wasilewski

June 30, 1948 – Dec. 7, 2002

NEWPORT – Edward J. Wasilewski, 54, of Newport, died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He had been in the hospital since Nov. 25. Until this fall, he was chairman of the Monroe County Emergency Ambulance Authority.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport. The Rev. William Tindall, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Charles cemetery, Newport.

Born June 30, 1948, in Detroit, he was the son of Leo and Josephine (Mondro) Wasilewski. He married Marie E. Chamberlin May 5, 1978, in Kaui, Hawaii.

In 1997, he was appointed by the Monroe County Commissioners to serve on the Monroe County Emergency Medical Authority and he was chairman of that board during 2001-02. He resigned from the Emergency Medical Authority in November because of health reasons.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his mother, Josephine Wasilewski of Redford; two daughters, Nicole A. Wasilewski of Redford and Allison Wasilewski of Newport; two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Tutro of Hartland and Michael Wasilewski of Beverly Hills, Mich.; three sisters, Cindy Benson of Chicago, Laura (Miguel) Guzman of South Lyons and Gail (Kevin) Iltis of Redford.

Clara M. Hammer

Oct. 29, 1918 – Dec. 7, 2002

LINCOLN PARK — Clara M. Hammer, 84, of Lincoln Park, formerly of Maybee, died Saturday.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Ave., Allen Park. She will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. Weddnesday until services at 11 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 19624 Wood St., Melvindale. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph cemetery, Maybee.

She was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Maybee. She was married to the late Melvin Hammer.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Christine) Hammer; three daughters, Barbara (Gregory) Heilman, Patricia Jack and Mary Jane (Gerald) Hagerman; four brothers, Edward, Carl, James and Frank Werstein; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Harry L. Smith

Aug.22 1919 – Dec. 8, 2002

CHELSEA – Harry L. Smith, 83, of Chelsea, formerly of Dundee, died Sunday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Cole Funeral Home, Chelsea, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. A private burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Dundee.

Born August 22, 1919, in Toledo, he was the son of Donald Lapeer and Lucille (Sprague) Smith. He married Virginia M. Taylor May 17, 1940.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Elliezer) Freyre and Wendy (Dan) Gerstler, both of Chelsea; a son-in-law, Bill Redfern of Dundee; two brothers, Melvin and Richard; four sisters, Rita Fritzler, Lois Smith, Betty McClelland and Jean Robinson; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
