CRAIG STEVEN NIELSEN

Age 53, February 9, 2006. Father of Nicole, Steven, and Leslie. Former husband of Janice Nielsen Skousen. Son of Peter and the late Mariam. Brother of Alan, Paul, Roy (Kerry) and Denise (Greg) Stratton. Uncle of Amber, Stacey, James, and Hailey. Memorial service Monday, 11am, at Livonia Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 31450 Six Mile Rd., Livonia. Memorials may be made to Cerebral Hemorrhage Research.

Henry Joseph Vallier

A resident of Westland, and former resident of Hamburg Township and Milford, died on Saturday, January 14th, 2006 after recently being diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was 78 years old. Born on March 31, 1927 in Midland County, Michigan, he was the son of Eugene & Florence (Breasbois) Valliere and grew up in Merrill, Michigan where he attended the Valliere School. In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Florida and later Okinawa during World War II. He returned from war and went to work with the Ford Rouge Plant in Dearborn, where he worked as a technician for over thirty-eight years. Henry was an avid golfer, loved feeding the birds at his home, keeping a vegetable garden and flower beds, family barbecues, and anything that allowed him to enjoy the out-of-doors. He is survived by his son, Sydney (Linda) Valliere of Jackson, daughter, Valerie Wogan of Westland, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Valliere in 1967 and wife, Peggy Valliere in 2004. Funeral Services were held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, Milford, on Tuesday, January 17th, 2006, with Fr. Tom Fleming officiating. Burial was in Milford Memorial cemetery with full military honors. Eleanor M. Budd

Died suddenly of natural causes on Monday February 27, 2006. Eleanor was an Elementary public school Teacher for years in Oakland County. Graduate of Wayne State University, but at that time know as City College's 1931 degree in education. Member of St. Hugo of the Hills, Village Club. Oakland County Medical Auxiliary and The Birmingham Little Garden Club. survived by her dearest friend Joseph Radanovich. Mother of Dr. Mary Ellen (John) Brademas of new York City and the late John Budd. Grandmother of Kathy (Tom) Goldberg, Jane (Clarke) Murray, John (Robin) Briggs and the late Basil M. Briggs, Jr. Great Grandmother of Jimmy, Briggs, Cameron, John and Allie. Funeral Mass at St. Hugo of the Hills, 2215 Opdyke, Bloomfield Hills, Thursday March 2, 10:00 A.M. (Old Stone Chapel) Visitation at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co., 820 E. Maple, Birmingham, Wednesday 5 to 8 P.M.

Virginia G. Letzring

Virginia G. Letzring, 94, of Marshall, Michigan, died Wednesday February 22, 2006. Virginia was born April 15, 1911 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Willard and Alice (Aspin) Lawson. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Monroe, MI. She married Carl Heinrich Letzring 11-01-1933. During her early marriage, she worked at D.J. Healy Company in Detroit. In 1944 she moved to South Lyon, Michigan where she and Heinie eventually opened C.H. Letzring Insurance Agency, which also included his law practice and real estate business. Virginia was an accomplished seamstress, did exquisite needlepoint, loved to travel, garden and was active in community affairs. She was a member of The Tuesday Club, the South Lyon Historical Society, was instrumental in building South Lyon's first city library, was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Novi. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her half sister Mary Rahn, and nephew John Gagne. Surviving are sons, Lawson (Bernadette) Letzring of South Lyon and Kurt (Pamela) Letzring of Marshall, Michigan. Surviving also are two grandchildren, Bryndis (Peter) Rubin and great grandchildren Owen and Helena of Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Hans (Toby) Letzring and great grandson, Aidan of Pleasant Ridge, MI. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the South Lyon Historical Society with assistance from Phillips Funeral Home in South Lyon.

Beverly B. "Betty" Janssen

Age 84 of Howell, formerly of Hartland and New Lisbon, WI, died October 19, 2006. Beloved mother of: Carolyn Jacobs of Highland, Laurel (Dan) Ellerbrook of Buchanan, MI. Grandmother of: Stephanie Jacobs, Lee Ellerbrook, Sulin Ellerbrook. Also survived by her sister Lauella Cloyd and numerous good friends, including Anne Ballingall. A Memorial Service was held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Tuesday 11AM. Pastor Terry Claus officiated. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Maurine Sinclair

Age 98, of Marshall formerly of Homer, passed away Sun. Oct. 22, 2006. She was born Nov. 22, 1907 in Grand Rapids, MI to Floyd & Georgia Cilley. She was married to Paul Sinclair in E. Lansing in 1930.

LYLA DOLORES (SHAVER) ISELY
Age 71. Resident of Waterford, MI , for 2½ years. Former resident of Redford, Arizona, Garden City, and Troy, MI. Died October 17, 2006, at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, MI. She was born September 3, 1935 in Detroit, MI and was married to Hans Isely in August, 1968 in Garden City, MI. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1998. She is survived by her children, Rochelle McLaren (Richard Winstead) of Waterford, MI; Johannes "YoYo" Isely (Dar Williams); and Rodney "Rocky" Isely (Lori) of Wichita Falls, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda McNeil (Kenneth) of Madison Heights, MI, and sisters-in law Arline Shaver and Lee Shaver as well as 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lyla was a homemaker and member of the Central United Methodist Church in Waterford. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2265, Redford, MI. She was a big Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings fan. She loved bowling and played on various leagues. Funeral arrangements: Price Funeral Home, 3725 Rochester Rd, Troy, 248-689-0700. Interment was held at White Chapel Memorial cemetery, Troy, MI. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

JOSEPHINE P. De LORENZO
"A Woman of Great Kindness"
Age 91, of Bloomfield Village (since 1959), October 15, 2006. Born December 7, 1914 in Madison, Wisconsin. Beloved wife of the late Anthony G. "Tony" De Lorenzo (deceased May 15, 1993). survived by children Annette De Lorenzo, Jo De Lorenzo, and Tony (Kathy) De Lorenzo; and grandchildren, Joe, Nina, and Maria. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Holy Name Chapel, Birmingham, with Reverend Eugene Simon officiating. Private interment at White Chapel cemetery, Troy, Michigan. Memorial tributes may be made to charity of donor's choice. Arrangements by A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors, Troy, MI.

NANCY WALTON HUDSON

a long-time Birmingham resident, died, October 18, 2006. She had been a patient at Medilodge of Rochester Hills on Walton Blvd., not far from where the old Walton family farm had stood for many years. Mrs. Hudson was born to Hiram and Lela Callow Walton of Detroit and Lake Angelus on September 10, 1912. She had a sister, Jane Walton O'Neil, and a brother Charles Walton. Mrs. Hudson married Arthur Scott Hudson in 1935, who predeceased her in 1993. Mr. Hudson's ancestor, Roswell T. Merrill was a founder of Birmingham, Michigan. The couple had three children, Nancy Jane Hudson of Sanibel Island Florida and Plymouth, Michigan; Mary Hudson of Tucson, Arizona and Durango, Colorado; and Elaine Hudson of Troy, Michigan. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren who have always known her as "NoNo". Mrs. Hudson was known for her skills as a gourment cook, her needlework and a quirky sense of humor. She was a lover of small animals and over the years took in many stray cats. Age 47, October 18, 2006. Beloved son of James and Elaine. Loving brother of Mark. Dear uncle of Tim and Melanie and great uncle of Ethan. Dave was a Ford Motor Co. employee. SANDRA J. WILSON, MSW, ACSW

Age 56 of Cincinnati OH, formerly of Livonia. Dear daughter of Cecile and the late Woodrow Wilson. Dear sister of the late Linda Wilson, and the late James Wilson. Dear aunt of Cynthia (Dale) Fisher, Stephanie (Mike) Jackson, and Dennis (Cookie) Wilson.
Dear friend of Mike Martinez and Ann McElaney. Also leaves 10 great-nieces and great-nephews. Sandy retired last year as Chief of Social Work at the VA Hospital in Detroit. Funeral service 10:30 AM Tuesday October 24 at Vermeulen Funeral Home, 46401 W Ann Arbor Rd, (btwn Sheldon and Beck) Plymouth. Visitation Monday 5-9 PM and Tuesday 9:00 AM until time of service. MARY JANE HENDERSON

Age 87 of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on October 15, 2006 in Ashland, NE. survived by son, Scott Henderson of Omaha, NE. Mary Jane was a resident of Birmingham from 1952-1967 and was active in several civic organizations including Charter Member of The Sheffield Estates Homeowner's Association and The League of Women Voters. She was a member of the congregation of The First Church of Christian Science, Birmingham, and employed at Birmingham Furniture in the early 1960's. Mary Jane moved to Utica in 1967 and then to Lee's Summit in 1975. She moved to Omaha to be closer to her son when she became ill in 2001. Her loving son will disseminate Mary Jane's ashes to the places Mary Jane loved during her tenure on Earth at a date yet to be determined. Mary Jane's ex-husband Francis Philip Henderson of Bloomfield Hills preceded her in death in 1998.

CHRISTINE JOYCE LEONHARD

Age 78, of Traverse City, formerly of Caseville, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Munson Medical Center. Joyce was born in Detroit on June 3, 1928 to Nile T. and Christine (Cameron) Lombard. Joyce graduated from Redford High School and attended Michigan State University for some time before exploring other opportunities. She went on to work as a radio actress and model before marrying the late Robert P. Leonhard. Joyce enjoyed spending time in the garden, working with ceramics, collecting antiques, and playing the piano. For many years, while living in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, she was an active member of the Women's Farm and Garden Association and The Village Club. Joyce moved to the Traverse City area after more than two decades on Sand Point in Caseville, MI, where she enjoyed the views across Lake Huron. The center of Joyce's life was always her children and grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her sons, Douglas (Karen) Leonhard of Birmingham, David (Kelly) Leonhard of Traverse City, five grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Peter, Katie, and Sean, brother, Cameron (Patricia) Lombard of Florida, sister, Carol Lombard Afarian of California, nieces, Heather and Penny, nephew, Christopher, and many other loving family members and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, William. The family requests that memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Pavilions or the charity of one's choice. In keeping with Joyce's wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. The family is being served by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City, and A. J. Desmond and Sons of Royal Oak.

LOUIS MICHAEL STIEB

Age 100, of Largo, Florida (formerly of Rochester, Michigan), died October 18, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet. He is survived by his children, Mike Stieb of Oklahoma and Joan Stieb of Florida; his nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Stieb began working at General Motors' Fisher Body Plant in 1928. He was instrumental in organizing Local Union 653 in 1939. He was the union's first financial secretary. While living in Rochester, Mr. Stieb built and lived in a cement home on Wilcox Street. Mr. Stieb retired from General Motors Pontiac Plant in 1966. He and his wife traveled to Largo during the winter months from their retirement home in Sand Lake (near Tawas), Michigan. They enjoyed round dancing and entered many dancing competitions. He was an avid euchre player and a big fan of baseball. Family members and friends traveled to Largo in January to celebrate his 100th birthday. A memorial service is scheduled in Michigan later this year.

DONALD WILLIAM SCHMIDT

Son of George and Alice Schmidt, eternally left this world on October 19, 2006 to be with his heavenly father and wife, Diane, of 62 years. Mr. Schmidt attended Michigan State and became a life long crop farmer in Plymouth, Michigan. His family worked together on the farm with high business and farming training from their father. Donald was a member of the Stony Creek Methodist Church of Willis. He also was a life time member of the Farm Bureau. He loved the outdoors, through his work, and also hunting and fishing. survived by his loving children Richard D.(Nancy), David J. (Sallie), Larry A. (Lynn), Sandra J. (William) Matley, and Susan K. Kelly. Dearest grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 9. Funeral service was held on Monday, October 23, 2006, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, Plymouth with Rev. Peter Harris and Rev. Doug Olson officiating. Interment Riverside cemetery, Plymouth.
