Gertrude E. Golat
Age 87, of Marysville, formerly of Tecumseh, died September 30, 2004 in Port Huron Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1917, in Holloway, the daughter of Richard and Nellie (Thaxton) Drouillard. On September 30, 1939 she married Theodore Golat in Tecumseh, MI. He preceded her in death in February of 1991.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Past President of the Altar Society, a former Gray Lady at Herrick Hospital, and current member of VFV Ladies Auxiallary Post 4187 and Life Member of the American Legion Auxilary Post #34 with 53 years of continuous service.

She was retired from Marv's Market in Tecumseh after 30 plus years of service.

Gertrude is survived by, daughter, Karen (Tom) Morgan of Yuma, AZ; son Richard (Vi) Golat Ft. Gratiot, MI; 6 grandchildren, Stacey, Shari, Tom, Chris, Scott, and Brian, seven great grandchildren, Bobby, Rachel, Christian, Jessica, Mackinzie, Nikolai, and Emily; and 5 sisters, Kate, Auldene, Yvonne, Garnet and Geraldine.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 4, 2004 in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside cemetery. Visitation will beon Sunday from 2 to 8 PM in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. A Rosary will be recited at 8 PM in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may made to Kidney Cancer Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

Trebbie J. Beach
Age 69, of Adrian, passed away November 3, 2004, at Lynwood Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 29,1935, in Mize, Mississippi, the daughter of Homer & Lola Mae (Bishop) McCollum.

Trebbie is survived by four sons, Danny (Donna) Glisson of Adrian, James (Stephanie) Glisson of Adrian, Ronald (Lori) Glisson of Morenci, and Randy (Lori) Glisson of Adrian; two daughters, Susie (Rod) Harris and Ann (Jamie) Sales both of Adrian; a brother, Louis McCollum of MS; a sister, Sue (Junior) Ringman of Clayton; 19 grandchildren & 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norma and Dorothy, and a brother Ledrew

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Dallas Cantu officiating. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM on Thursday and from 2 - 4PM & 6 - 8PM on Friday at the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Louise Marie Scott
Age 90, of Tecumseh died Oct. 7, 2004, at Herrick Manor. She was born Feb. 1, 1914, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Leroy and Nellie (Marris) Grandstaff.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Tecumseh. She was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #51, Tecumseh. Louise enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends here in Britton and Tecumseh.

She is survived by one son, Donald Partridge of Tecumseh; daughter Joyce (Clewis) Howell of Tampa, Fla.; one grandson, Jeffery Duncan of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren; and brother Robert Grandstaff of Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Owen H. Partridge in 1962 and Russell G. Scott in 2000.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Ridgeway cemetery.

Arrangements are by Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Ronald E. VanValkenburg,
82, a lifelong Tecumseh resident died October 10, 2004 in Nampa, Idaho where he had moved ten months ago to live with family. He had been a resident of a care center for just nine days.

He was born June 6, 1922, in Franklin Township, Michigan, the son of Deane and Deta (Spalding) VanValkenburg. On December 22, 1941 he married Doris Gafner in Tecumseh. Their home at 108 S. Van Buren remained their residence for 61 years.

He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II, stationed in the Pacific area and California. He retired from the Tecumseh Products in 1987 after 46 years of service. He enjoyed flying and had his Cessna tied down at Meyers Airport for 23 years. He was a member of the Tecumseh Friends Church and also attended Grace Point Evangelical Free Church.

Ronald is survived by his daughter Jane (David) MacDonald of Nampa, ID; son-in-law Dr. Ronald Johnson of Canton, OH; four grandchildren Kristin (Charles) Moore of Massillon, OH., Mark (Jennifer) Johnson of Fayettteville, W.V., Todd (Cheryl) MacDonald of Seattle, WA., and Jonathan (Bonnie) MacDonald of Nampa, ID., five great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Lois Gafner of Tecumseh and Margaret (John) Kittel of Ann Arbor.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2000 and daughter, Marjorie in 2003.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday October 15, 2004 at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Todd MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the The Salvation Army or charity of the donor’s choice

Virginia "Ginny" Sanders
Age 67, of Adrian, passed away October 14, 2004, at her home. Virginia was born September 24, 1937, in Delta, OH the daughter of Orra Griesinger & Elma Brown-Fullerton. Virginia was retired from Pilkington in Clinton, MI.

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Sue) Sanders of Cedarville, IN, Debra Allen of Morenci, MI, Jeff (Brenda) Sanders of Kenton, OH, and Randy (Amy) Sanders of New Washington, OH, her grandchildren, Brian, Doug Jr., Robert, Virginia, Collene, Brandy, Katie, Jasmine, and Allison, fourteen great-grandchildren, two brothers Harry (Ruth) Griesinger of Adrian, Carl on (Starr) Griesinger of Oregon, two sisters Betty (Gene) Hoffman of Archbold, OH , and Berniece (Ladd) Still of Adrian.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Raymond Eugene.

Funeral Services will be held 1:30 PM Sunday, October 17, 2004, in the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. Daryl H. Etheridge officiating. Interment will follow in Winameg cemetery, Winameg, OH. Betty Cubberly
Age 79, of Tecumseh, passed away, October 18, 2004, at home. She was born June 18, 1925 in Llanelly, South Wales, U.K., the daughter of David and Sarah (Morris) Davies. On July 7, 1947, she married Arthur H. Cubberly. He survives.

She was a member of The First Baptist Church, Tecumseh. She was retired from Faraday, Inc. after 24 years of service. Betty's family was everything to her.

In addition to her husband Arthur, she is survived by her children, David Cubberly, Kathy (Perl) Sebring, Paul Cubberly, and Sharon (David) Prill , all of Tecumseh; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two granddaughters, Chloé Marie Cubberly, and Joann Marie Prill.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004, in The First Baptist Church, Tecumseh, with Rev. Doug Winters officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Dallas Ima Dow
Age 86, of Tecumseh, died October 18, 2004 at Provincial House, Adrian. She was born July 17, 1918 in Speedwell, TN, the daughter of Andy and Cora Lee (Wilson) Smith.

She was a member of Kentucky Park Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe. She was retired from DST Industries, Clinton.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee (Troy) Collins of Tecumseh; son, Rev. Fred (Gloria) Smith of Monroe; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death one grandson, Kenneth Collins, two brothers, Clyde M., and Audrey H.; and three sisters, Mary L. England , Flossie E. Shackleford, and Hallie J. Smith.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with the Rev. Kenny Goins officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Irene Jordan
Age 80, of Tecumseh, passed away October 18, 2004, at Provincial House, Adrian. She was bornMarch 19, 1924 in Royalton, KY, the daughter of Coon and Rosie (Puckett) Poe.

She is survived by four daughters; Joanne Moore of Tecumseh, Carol (Tom) Valencich of Adrian, Ruby (Larry) Palmer of Warner Robbins, GA, and Connie Kaye Jennings of Warner Robbins, GA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother Lloyd Poe of Saylersville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband John in October 1980; granddaughter Amy Moore; grandson, Johnny Palmer; and a son in law David Moore.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2004 in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Sue Wilhelm officiating. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.

Margaret Loretta Wheeler
Age 90, of Tecumseh, formerly of Lakeland, and Farmington Hills, died November 3, 2003, at Herrick Memorial Hospital. Margaret was born August 2, 1913 in Milford Center, OH, the daughter of William and Josephine(Ryan) Kelley. On January 18, 1947, she married Edward McClure Wheeler in Columbus, Ohio. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1997.

She moved to Tecumseh in 1993 coming from Lakeland, MI. Margaret was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh. Margaret enjoyed traveling all over the world, especially her trips to Ireland.

Margaret is survived by her three sons, Donald (Marcia) Detter of Commerce Twp, Fr. Daniel Wheeler, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, and Dennis (Kathy) Wheeler of Farmington, three grandchildren, Patti, Eddie and Josie Wheeler, two sisters Kathleen Kelley and Alice Mays, both of Columbus, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by her brothers Bill and Jack Kelley, and sisters Helen Kelley and Agnes Hetterscheidt.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union Street, Tecumseh, with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler, Bishop Carl Mengeling, and other Priests as con-celebrants. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, MI. A Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Arrangements are by the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

SEVERN FRANK FRANCIS
age 83, of Tecumseh, formerly of Plymouth passed way Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Herrick Manor in Tecumseh. He was born April 29, 1921 in Detroit, MI the son of David and Sylvia (Shannon) Francis.

He served in the United States Navy as a gunner's mate in World War II. He was retired from Plymouth Public Schools in 1986.

He is survived by one sister Bernice (Robert) Kujat of Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Irene Francis of Florida; three nieces, Sharon Wilcox of Millington, Susan (Charles) Baxter of Caro, and Michele (Douglas) Miller of Tecumseh; three nephews, Michael, David, and Patrick Francis; and many great nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Jeffry; a brother in law, Al Jeffry, and twin brother, David Francis.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2004 in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Sue Wilhelm officiating. Interment will follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Twp., MI. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh

Louise Ann Pickering
Age 43, of Adrian, passed away August 15, 2004, at her home under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born August 19, 1960 in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Earl David & Esther Mae (Shelden) Morse. On May 20, 1978, she married David Pickering, he survives.

She was a member of The Church of The Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband David; her children, David Pickering, Jr. and Monica Pickering; grandchildren, Macie Ann, Austin, and Luis; her parents Earl and Esther Morse; her Grandmother Shelden; sisters, Jean (Teddy) Goetz and Carol Morse, her brothers, Joe (Dolly) Morse and David (Kathy) Morse.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with the Rev. Rick Strawcutter officiating. Interment will follow in West Madison cemetery on Graham Hwy. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday at the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

Martha Rupert

Age 93, of Tecumseh, passed away November 5, 2004. She was born November 21, 1910, in Altoona, Pennsylvania the daughter of Harry and Florence Grace. Martha was married to Robert P. Rupert, Sr. who preceded her in death.

Martha was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother and loved by all who knew her and will be missed by all.

She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne (Michael) Law of Cardiff by the Sea, California, four sons, James (Joan) of Surprise, Arizona, Robert, Jr. (Norah) of Milton, Florida, Allen (Virginia) of Smithfield, VA, and Carl (Brenda) Rupert of Tecumseh, one sister Irma Morrey of Dearborn, one brother, John Grace of Texas, nineteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by eight brothers, two sisters, and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Tuesday Nov. 9, 2004, at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. with Rick Woodall officiating. Burial will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland. Visitation for Martha will be Monday from 2 - 8 at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
