Melva B. Young

Tecumseh, MI

Melva B. Young, age 80, of Tecumseh, passed away July 21, 2007 after losing her hard fought battle with cancer.

Melva was born March 21, 1927 in Ottawa Lake, MI the daughter of Irvin and Edna (Glanzman) Sieler. On October 16, 1947 she married Merelin A. Young in Ottawa Lake. He survives.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and dog, Skippy. Melva worked at Herrick Hospital for 17 years as a surgical aide retiring in 1988. She enjoyed spending summers at her Sand Lake home and being with all her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tecumseh for many years and active in the Ladies Aid.

Besides her husband Merelin A., Melva is survived by her children Merelin L. (Pat) Young and Linda E. (Ford) Hyder both of Tecumseh; brothers Norman (Phyllis) Sieler of Petersburg, Walter (Donna) Sieler of Deerfield, Melvin (Connie) Sieler of Deerfield, Wilbert (Judy) Sieler of Dundee and Leroy (Fran) Sieler of Tecumseh; sister Carol (Delmar) Cilley of Dundee; sister in law Delight Sieler of Adrian; grandchildren Tim, Scott, Keith, Julie and Tammie; great grandchildren Tyler, Walker and Adison; step grandchild, James; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Edna Sieler; brother Orville Sieler; and a grandson Chad M. Steuwe.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor William Natsis officiating.

Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 P. M. Monday, July 23, 2007 and 4 - 8 P. M. Tuesday July 24, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee.

The family would like to thank Herrick Hospital, Dr. Guild, and Hospice of Lenawee for all the care and support they gave Melva.

Elsa Kobel

Tecumseh, MI

Elsa Kobel, age 83, of Tecumseh, passed away suddenly, July 23, 2007.

Elsa was born December 6, 1923 in Lithuania the daughter of Hugo and Augusta (Hildebrandt) Damtschick. On February 1, 1941 she married Walter Kobel in Lithuania. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1985, She was an accomplished seamstress retiring from the J. L. Hudson Co. after 31 years of service. She enjoyed dancing, socializing, and was an avid card player. Elsa lived and enjoyed life to the fullest and was a breast cancer survivor.

Elsa is survived by her daughter Karin (Ed) Riske of Chelsea; brother Helmut Damtschick of Germany; grandchildren Michelle LaVigne of Madison, WI andMichael LaVigne of New York City, NY; a beloved friend of the last twelve years, Charles Ives of Tecumseh; his son Burl (Suzanne) Ives of Tecumseh; their children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lydia Mingela, Alicia Zimmerman, and Karla Bollow.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 P. M. Friday, July 27, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Pastor David Morton officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Shade cemetery, Onsted.

Visitation will be 3 - 8 P. M. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Brethren, 824 E. Church Street, Adrian.

Junellar (June) Cook

June Cook, age 77, of Alabama, formerly of Adrian, passed away July, 23 2007.

June was born February 28, 1930, in Hamilton, AL, the daughter of Tildon and Laura (Sims) Sanderson. On June 29, 1946 she married William Cook, Jr. in Alabama. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2003. For many years she worked at Peerless Gear in Clinton retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

June is survived by two sons Jay (Beckie) Cook of Ellenton, FL and Steve (Debbie) Cook of Adrian; brother Preston Sanderson of Alabama; three grandchildren Ken (Tisha) Cook of Sand Creek, Hidie (Roger) Bowman of Onsted, and Steven (Cassie) Cook of Adrian; four great grandchildren Cody, Clayton, Chloe, and Lacey.

Besides her husband William, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. E. L. Snead officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be 3 - 8 P. M. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the J.Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Juan L. Herevia

Juan L. Herevia, aka "El llelerito de Laredo" and "Pancho". age 80, of Adrian, went to be with our Lord August 4, 2007.

He was born December 9, 1926 in Cotulla, Texas the son of Trinidad and Catalina (Leal) Herevia. On April 29, 1951 he married Daria Perez. She preceded him in death in 1983. Juan dearly loved all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a "Real Cowboy, " always dressing in western attire. Throughout the years he worked at Bridgeport Brass, Harvey Aluminum, Martin Marietta, and the First United Methodist Church.

Juan is survived by his daughters, Catalina Burciaga and Janie (Steve) Navarro; sons Trinidad Herevia and Eulogio (Maria) Herevia; son in law David Burciaga, all of Adrian; adopted son, Rev. John R. Petree of Monroe; grandchildren, Gabriel (Belinda) Burciaga, Nicole (Blue) Medel, Isaiah (Taylor) Burciaga, Christine (Michael) Verlinde, Steven Navarro, Modesty (Jason) Adams, Tracie Navarro, Amelia Navarro, Austin Herevia, and Mackenzie Herevia; great grandchildren Juve, Jeremiah, Azure, J. D., Jadah, Taylor, Mariah, Micah, Caleb, Ethan, Daria and Teagan.

Besides his wife Daria, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and an infant son, Juan.

Juan touched many lives throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. John R. Petree officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery, Adrian. Visitation will be 2 - 8 P. M. Monday, August 6, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Rosemarie December

EASTPOINTE

Rosemarie December, age 70, of Eastpointe, died August 1, 2007 at St. John's Hospital, Detroit, MI.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

Esther M. Bryja

Esther M. Bryja, age 68, of Onsted, passed away July 22, 2007 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. She lost her 8 month battle with cancer.

Esther was born December 24, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Szelag) Sieradzki.

Esther graduated from St. Hedwig High school in 1956. She then worked as a secretary at Ford Motor Co. until she married George Bryja on February 24, 1962 and left work to become a full time wife and mother. In 1972, they left Detroit and moved to Onsted where they raised their seven children.

In recent years, she and her husband enjoyed several opportunities to travel as far as the Caribbean & Australia. She enjoyed reading, scrap booking, crossword puzzles, and always had a camera in her hand.

Right up to the last days of her life she crafted rosaries as a charitable contribution for people locally, as well as for 800 children at a school in Peru. Esther was thrilled to be "Moma" to 17 grandchildren and loved helping to care for them. Family was her whole world.

Esther is survived by her children, Cathy (Ed) Foreman, George Jr. (Jeannie), Karen (Todd) Bagdon, Jennifer (Alfred) Brown, James (Kari), Robert, and Sarah (Grant) Tinney; grandchildren, Catherine, Amanda, Alfred IV, Liam, George III, Joshua, Philip, Indigo, Zoe, Jasmine, Joseph, Abigail, Ashur, Seth, Trinity, Ingrid, & Gabrielle; a sister, Dorothy (Sister Teresita); a brother and sister in law Frederick and Dolores.

Besides her husband George who passed this last Thanksgiving, Esther was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church in the Irish Hills, with the Rev. Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Shrine cemetery, Brooklyn, MI

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, and one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. A scripture service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Selma M. Siegfried

Romulus

Selma M. Siegfried, age 97, of Romulus, died August 5, 2007 at Regency Health Center, Taylor, MI.

Burial will take place 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Grand Lawn cemetery, (Grand River & Telegraph) Detroit, MI.

Viewing will begin at 11:00 am at the chapel at Grand Lawn cemetery, Wednesday morning, August 8, 2007.

Sue Lynn Stamper

Milan, MI

Sue Lynn Stamper, age 45, of Milan, passed away August 12, 2007.

Sue was born July 22, 1962, in Tawas City, Michigan, the daughter of Earnest and Linda (Alexander) Billiau.

On September 25, 1993, she married Steven Stamper in Milan, Michigan. He survives.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Sue attended the Saline Oakwood Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, Sue is survived by her children Jennifer Detkowski, Steven Ray Stamper, and Earnest Samuel Stamper; mother Linda Bennett; sisters Beth and Charlotte; and aunt Cyn-d McDougal.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be 6:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev Franklin Radcliff, Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:30 P. M. until the time of services at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

According to her wishes cremation will take place following the services.
