GARNET A. "WOODY" WOODSON

JACKSON

Garnet A. "Woody" Woodson, age 60, of Adrian, died June 15, 2007, at Foote Hospital, Jackson.

He was born January 25, 1947, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, the son of Lilla Ethel Thomas. She preceded him in death in 1992.

Woody is survived by his daughter, Sue Woodson; former wife, Betty Woodson; sisters, Candis Rosansky, Sharon Thomas, and Kathy Jo Thomas; many nieces, nephews, his loving dog, Egor; and many other furry friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Jim Thomas, and mother & father in law, Dorothy and Earl Burlingame.

Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Captain Gordon Knight officiaitng.

Visitation will also be on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the family to be used according to their wishes.

GARY R. WORDEN "RED BONE"

JEROME

Gary R. Worden "Red Bone", age 68, of Jerome, passed away June 17, 2007, at home, under the care of Great Lakes Hospice.

He was born April 1, 1939 in Stockbridge, MI the son of Raymond and Fern (Osterlie) Worden. On July 6, 1996 he married Sandy K. Walkowe at Stagecoach Stop in the Irish Hills. She survives .

Gary was retired from Ford Motor Company, Saline Plant. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his friends in the Ghostriders, Gary took pleasure caring many animals, especially his beloved dog, Roxie.

Gary's first love was piddling around old Ford trucks.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Stephen.

In addition to his wife, Sandra, Gary is survived by 5 children, Gary E. Worden, Julie Jean Worden, and Patti Lou Worden, all of Jackson; Katherine D. Worden of Jerome, and Sandra (Joe) Wright of Brooklyn; step son, Jeff Walkowe Cabool, MO; 7 granchildren; brother Fred Worden of Saline, and 2 sisters, Marilyn Baker of Adrian, and Carolyn Sande of Chelsea.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Daryl Onsted officiaitng.

Interment will follow at Tipton cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Leona Rose (Tuckerman) Meyer

Adrian, MI

Leona Rose (Tuckerman) Meyer, age 93, of Adrian passed away June 19, 2007 in the presence of her family and friends. Leona was born September 23, 1919 in Somerset Center the daughter of Thomas C and Lillian F. (Michaels) Tuckerman. Leona was baptized by Rev. Pellowe at the age of 9 months in the Methodist Church, Somerset Center, MI. She graduated from Addison High School, first in her class, in 1932.

Leona married Henry W. Meyer June,9, 1934, in the Lutheran parsonage, Hillsdale, MI. He preceded her in death in 1958. Leona attended Raisin Valley Friends Church where she was a member of their Missionary Society. She also belonged to the Birdsall Sunshine Club, the Aunt Ellen Club, the North Adrian Grange and the Birdsall Homemakers Extension Club for over 50 years. With the desire to be a teacher but being The Depression and funds lacking, Leona was busy in school activities while her children were growing up as well as being a 4-H leader for many years. Leona was employed as a baker for twenty years by the food service at Adrian College.

Born to the union of Leona and Henry were three children, Barbara (Lawrence) Young of Tecumseh, Kathleen (Stephen) Schultz of Adrian, and Thomas (Jeanette) Meyer of Tecumseh; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Loretta Hammac.

She was greeted in heaven by her husband, Henry; her parents, Thomas and Lillian; five sisters, Fanny Jackson, Catherine Behken, Bessie Carl, Myrtle Hudson, and Helen Davis; and two brothers, Raymond (2 months) and Ray Tuckerman Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, June 22, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastors James Watson and Dale Chryst officiating. Burial will follow in Raisin Valley cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p. M. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or the Raisin Valley Friends Church.

Virginia Dixon

Virginia Lenore Dixon, age 87, of Tecumseh, passed away June 18, 2007.

Virginia was born in Detroit, Michigan January 28, 1920 the daughter of Antoni and Marie (Jankowski) Chyba.

On November 23, 1940 she married Reginald (Dick) Dixon in Detroit. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1983.

Virginia was a resident of the Tecumseh area since 1949. She and her husband owned Dixon Photographic Studio in Tecumseh. Virginia was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh Business and Professional Women and past president, Herrick Hospital Auxiliary, Tecumseh Monday Club and past president, and Mother of Twins Club, She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and active in many community activities and projects.

Virginia is survived by sons, Ronald R. Dixon, John (Susan) Dixon, and James S. (Laura) Dixon and daughter in law Diana Dixon; grandchildren Jeremy (Beth) Dixon, Jessica (James) Zann, Michael Dixon, Patrick Dixon, Elizabeth Dixon, Mark Dixon, Brandie Dixon, Reginald Scott Dixon, Celeste (James) Hostetter and Clint Dixon; two great grandchildren; and close friends and neighbors, Jeff and Mary Watkins.

Besides her husband Reginald, Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Dixon.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.

Visitation will be from 10:30 A, M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tecumseh Historical Society or the Tecumseh Business and Professional Women's.

William "Bill" Smith

ADRIAN

William "Bill" Smith, age 84, of Adrian, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on June 20, 2007, with his daughters at his side.

He was born October 28, 1922 in Adrian, MI, the son of Floyd and Verna (Phipps) Smith. On September 29, 1946, he married Leona E. Henry in Adrian, MI. She survives.

Bill was a graduate of Adrian High School, Class of 1942. He then went on to earn an Associates Degree from Cleveland Bible College, Cleveland, OH. (now Malone College) Bill was retired from Adrian State Bank with 39 years of service. He attended Fellowship Bible Church, Adrian. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and bird watching.

In addition to his wife Leona, Bill is survived by, two daughters, Angela (Joe) Garland of Adrian, and Brenda (Patrick) Sykes of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Christina K. Elliott of Blissfield, Jillian I. Garland of Adrian, Ian T. Dangler of Sarasota, FL; and two great granddaughters, Jade and Jocelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myrtle Ehinger; and a granddaughter, Amanda.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Dr. Edmund Burkey & Rev. Dale Chryst officiating. Interment will follow at Packard cemetery, Seneca Township, MI.

Visitation will also be on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hickman Caner Center of Fellowship Bible Church.

Rufino Cabrera-Gonzalez

ADRIAN

Rufino Cabrera-Gonzalez, age 49, of Adrian, died June 23, 2007.

Rufino was born August 7, 1957, in Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Jose Guadalupe and Celia (Gonzales) Cabrera. On January 7, 1996 he married Aurora Guerrero. She survives.

Rufino was employed with Lear Corporation, Wauseon, OH.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Adrian.

Rufino was a loving husband to his wife and dear to both of his sons. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Aurora, he is survived by two sons, Jose G. and Armando Cabrera, all of Adrian; mother, Celia Cabrera of Acambaro, GTO, Mexico; 6 brothers; and 5 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father; and 2 brothers all of Mexico.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday June 26, 2007 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Deacon Ray Pizana officiating.

Burial will follow at Acambaro cemetery, Acambaro, GTO, Mexico, under the direction of Funerales S. Del Carmen, Acambaro, GTO, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Monday and again on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until time of funeral service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Robert C. "Bill" Murday, Sr.

Raisin Township

Robert C. "Bill" Murday, Sr, age 60, of Raisin Township, passed away June 27, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born January 24, 1947, in Bay City, Michigan the son of Lawrence and Beatrice (Partlo) Murday. On October 24, 1971 he married his beloved wife Mary Ann Gehring. Bill was a mechanic and retired from Bill Vreeland Auto Sales. He loved Nascar and watching his son compete at Oak Shade Raceway. The joys of his life were his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Mary Ann of 36 years; two sons Robert, Jr. and Randy both of Adrian; one daughter Shannon (Ryan) Smith of Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Nakisha, Kaeleen, Shawna, Kevin, Alayna and Carter; five brothers Larry (Lynn), Rick (Edwina), Steve, Jimmy (Debbie), John; two sisters Linda and Suzie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Rick, a daughter Shelia; and his parents.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Friday, June 29, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Gail Blum officiating. Burial will follow in East Rome cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 A. M. Friday until the time of service.

Roger E. Treadway

Tecumseh

Roger E. Treadway, age 74, of Tecumseh, passed away June 29, 2007.

Roger was born March 8, 1933 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of John and Sena (Gronewald) Treadway. On June 27, 1959 he married Judith Fetherston in Chicago, Ill.

She survives. Roger was a graduate of Carthage College and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Maywood, IL. He pastored churches in Iowa and Illinois and upon retirement he worked for Meijers.

He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Besides his wife Judith, Roger is survived by his children, Brian (Laura) Treadway. Susan (Pat) Hatheway, Ann Treadway, Eric (Mary Beth) Treadway, Jeffrey (Leah) Treadway, Joy (Jeffrey) Myers, Kirsten (Craig) Terpstra, and Robert Treadway; brother Dr. G. A. (Norine) Treadway; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Monday, July 2, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Julianne Smeck officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 P. M. Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
