WILLIAM GUY ANDREW

TECUMSEH

William Guy Andrew, age 92, of Tecumseh, passed away February 19, 2007. Guy was born September 9, 1914 in Ribbon, Kentucky the son of Dolphus and Allie (Spencer) Andrew. On July 2, 1938 he married Loretta Pauline Short. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1996. Guy was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for 56 1/2 years. He worked on many large building projects, his last being the Renaissance Center in Detroit. He also served as a chef and baker in the CCC's in Kentucky. His family was the center of his life.

Guy is survived by one daughter Mary J. Quick of Tecumseh; one son Mitchell Andrew of Wyandotte; one daughter in law Kathlyn Andrew of Taylor; two sisters Ova Bledsoe and Dimple Gilbert both of Kentucky; two brothers Ruel Andrew and Tom (Dolly) Andrew both of Kentucky; grandchildren Pamela, Andrea, Paula (Robert), Kimberly (Michael) , Craig, Shanna, Bradlee, and Kari; great grandchildren Michael, Emily, Crystal (Erik), Robby, Kelly, Victoria, Jenna, Gavin, and Ian; great great grandchildren Grace and Erik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Loretta, Guy was preceded in death by his parents; one son Tex; one granddaughter Patricia; three brothers Joe, Sam, and Roy; and three sisters Nora, Lena, and Mava.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Friday, February 23, 2007 at the New Faith Chapel, 19498 Middlebelt Road, Romulus, MI with the Rev. Lance Witham officiating. Burial will follow at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. Visitation will be 2 - 8 P. M. Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Marilyn Hope Ries

Britton, MI

Marilyn Hope Ries, age 84, of Britton passed away March 3, 2007 at Cambrian Assisted Living. Marilyn was born August 3, 1922, in Hudson, Michigan, the daughter of C. D. and Viola (Stewart) Lair. On June 24, 1944, she married Donald J. Ries in Alva, OK. He survives. Marilyn was retired from the A&P store, Tecuumseh. She was member of Grace United Methodist Church, Britton. She also was member of the Tecumseh Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marilyn also participated with the Shawnee Square Dancers and 007 Square Dance Campers, Detroit.

Marilyn's hobbies included golf, dance, and ceramics.

In addition to her husband Donald, Marilyn is survived by her children; Kenneth (Sylvia) Plank of Britton, and Marilyn (John) Swanston of Macon; 6 grandchildren, Jackie (Mike) Fagan, Melinda (Bill) Brown, both of Adrian; Heather (Dan) Harriott of Pensacola, FL; Daphne (Larry) Bush, Donna (Eric) Johnson, both of Tecumseh; and Brenda (Scott) Walker of Crossville, TN; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great great granchildren.

In additon to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Dale Lair; and grandson; Kenneth L. Plank Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Amy Mayo-Moyle officiating.

Interment will follow at Ridgeway cemetery, Ridgeway, MI.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday March 6, 2007 and from 10:00 a.m until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions my be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Britton.

Ivan "Buck" Maynard

Age 84, of Tecumseh, passed away, May 8, 2008. Buck was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Army Air Force. While in the Army Air Force, Buck flew 50 flight missions over Romania, Czechoslovakia, Austria, France, Italy, and Germany. He was awarded a Presidential Group Citation in addition to an Air Medal with nine Oak Leak Clusters

Buck was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church. He is the former owner of Maynard Mini Services which he operated with his son Randy and wife Iileen for twenty five years. Buck was an "Ambassador" for the City of Tecumseh with his Maynard Mini Mobiles which he and Iileen were invited to many well known parades including, Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade, Orange Bowl Parade, Miami, FL, Parade of The Ugly King, San Antonio, TX, and Niagara Falls Parade.

Buck was born May 31, 1923 in Tecumseh, MI, the son of Leon and Florence (Garun) Maynard. On January 11, 1956, he married Iileen W. Beach in Angola, IN. She survives. Besides his wife Iileen, Buck is survived by three sons: Curtis Randy (Maggie) Maynard of Tecumseh; Jeffery (Alice) Maynard of Evergreen, CO; and Gary (Darlene) Maynard of Tecumseh; many grandchildren; great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Logan, his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services will be 4:00 P. M. Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Clinton Baptist Church followed by military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. Visitation will be 6 - 8 P. M. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the Clinton Baptist Church.

Laurie Ann Reuther-Casey

Age 46, of Tecumseh, died May 8, 2008 at Herrick Medical Center. She was born November 27, 1961 in Highland Park, MI the daughter of Allen and Sandra (Lewis) Schmidt. On October 31, 1992 she married Timothy Casey in Macon Twp., MI. He survives. She was a 1980 graduate of Columbia Central High School, Brooklyn. Her passions were her family and a love of animals.

Besides her husband Timothy, she is survived by her parents; her children, Amanda (Jeremy) McKenzie, Megan Ann (Brian) Steele, and Bradley, Tamara, Angelica and Savannah Casey all of Tecumseh; sister, Lisa (William) Curry of Adrian and two nephews, Matthew and Andrew Curry. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Steven Reuther and her very best friend, Vicky Witson.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 13, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Larry Johns officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and again on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service. .

Oma Eldridge

Age 84, of Tecumseh, went to be with the Lord May 9, 2008. She was a member of Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church and a part of the "Truthseekers". She leaves behind her three children, Douglas (Sharon) of Pinckney; Barbara (Glen) Richmond of Tecumseh; and Brenda Corbitt of Tecumseh; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Grant Cole of Ypsilanti. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, William "Buddy" Corbitt, and a grandson, Brian Corbitt.

A Celebration of Oma's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday May 12, 2008 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Friends may visit the family on Saturday (today) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Contributions in honor of Oma Eldridge may be made to: Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Willis Hettler, Jr.

Age 75 of Cadillac, MI, passed away May 13, 2008, at Lakeview Lutheran Manor, Cadillac, MI. He was born August 26, 1932, in St. Johns, MI, the son of Willis Sr., & Inez (McClow) Hettler. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Jeffery Perry, of Lapeer, passed away, May 13, 2008. Services and cremation will take place in Florida.

Dorothy Battaglio, of Pontiac, MI, passed away May 15, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, Pontiac, MI. Cremation will take place.

Helen Palmer

Age 75, of Tecumseh, passed away May 16, 2008. She was born August 25, 1932 in Hamilton, Alabama, the daughter of Auzie & Ruby (Nix) Johnson. On November 27, 1948, she married Dennis "Golden" Palmer. She worked at Bixby Hospital as a cook for many years. Helen loved gardening, her flowers and basketball.

She is survived by her children; Audry (John) Ruhl, Terry (Betty) Palmer, Larry (Lee Ann Yonts) Palmer, and Dwain (Chris) Palmer, one brother; James (Jenny) Johnson, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis, and her son Jerry.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 22, 2008, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Graveside Services will be officiated by Mario Sanchez. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Refugia "Cuca" Ybarra

Age 84, of Adrian, died, May 19, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Somerset, MI. She was born March 16, 1924, in Mercedes, TX, the daughter of Narciso & Guadalupe (Bocanegra) Gonzalez. On February 12, 1950, she married Jose Ybarra in Detroit, MI. She was a member of the Crusio and attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blissfield.

Survivors include, her two sons; Jose Manuel "Joe" (Sharon) Ybarra of Sylvania, OH and Dirio (Kay Marie) Ybarra of Centerville, UT, four daughters; SanJuanita Yolanda (Encarnacion) Hernandez of Detroit, Maria DeJesus "Mary" (Reymundo) Orozco of Adrian, Marta (Bob) Ybarra-Hoffman of Somerset and Rosemary (David) Orozco of Adrian, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, one sister, Maria Falcon of San Diego, CA and dear friend, Rosa Rodriguez

She was preceded in death by her husband Jose, her parents, Narciso & Guadalupe, three sisters, Jesusita, Chepa, and Celia, five brothers, Encarnacion, Cleto, Ramon, Benito, Narciso Jr. and one grandson, Isaiah Mi Angel Orozco

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 22, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Adrian, with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm as Presider. Interment will follow in Pleasant View cemetery, Blissfield. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and also on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.

Josephine Ward

Josephine Ward, passed away, May 19, 2008, at Bronson Nursing Center in Lawton, MI. Cremation will take place.

Joseph Mannino

Age 93, of Tecumseh passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 under the loving care of his family, Tecumseh Place, and Hospice of Lenawee. Joe was born August 18, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Abramo and Ingiazia Mannino. On June 1, 1947 he married his loving wife, Jennie Badalucco, at the Italian Methodist Church where he was a member. Jennie survives.

Joe attended Commerce High School in Detroit. He worked at Spada's Market in Detroit until he enlisted in the Army where he became a World War II sergeant. Joe proudly served his country in Europe - Germany, France, England, Czechoslovakia, and Belgium. He also co-owned the Fisher Food grocery store in Detroit with his brother-in-law.

From Detroit, Joe and his family moved to Harper Woods and then to Tecumseh in 1955. While working at the Tecumseh Products, he built, then owned and operated Joe's Market for 19 years. His love for the food industry led him to become co-owner and operator of the Tecumseh and Brooklyn Big Boy restaurants.

Joe was also employed at Baldwin's Hardware and Purse Funeral Home.

Joe was a generous community member who shared his time with Kiwanis, the American Legion, Tecumseh Methodist Church, Herrick Hospital Board, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed family vacations in northern Michigan and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee as well as many family celebrations.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lena (Joe) Ferrante. Two sisters, Ann (Bill) Norello and Jacqueline (Gene) Simpson survive.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by three daughters: Jeanette (Tom) Meyer of Tecumseh, Diane (David) Noack of Clinton and Pat (Richard) Northrup of Tecumseh. He deeply loved and devoted much of his time to his five grandchildren: Ben Noack, Laura (Josh) Baker, Joe, Bart, and John Northrup. Joe will be greatly missed by his community, friends, and most of all, his family.

A celebration of his life will be held at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, May 24, 2008 . Burial will follow in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh with Military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. Visitations are 6 - 8 P. M. Thursday, May 22 and 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Friday, May 23, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tecumseh Methodist Church or Hospice of Lenawee.

James H. Tolliver

James H. Tolliver, 84, of Ypsilanti, MI, passed away, May 20, 2008 at Bortz Healthcare Center. Cremation will take place.

Michael James Huff

Age 56, of Morenci, died, May 20, 2008, at V.A. Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. He was born April 29, 1952, in Hudson, MI, the son of Donald & Lois (Lambright) Huff.

He is survived by three sisters; Mary Lou Huff, Luann "Jill" Mansfield both of Adrian, and Lisa Huff of Oklahoma, two brothers; Donald Huff Jr., and Douglas Huff both of California, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 30, 2008, at Medina cemetery, with Pastors Howard Yatzek & Dave Lehman officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Hannan-Colvin Post 180, Hudson American Legion. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Cathy Rounds, 49, of Waterford, passed away, May 20, 2008. Cremation will take place. Memorial Services will be on Thursday, May 22, 2008.

Kerri Basler Logan

Age 31, of Tecumseh, formerly of Ypsilanti, passed away May 22, 2008 at the Lapeer Regional Medical Center. Kerri was born June 20, 1976 in Ypsilanti, MI the daughter of Henry and Debra (Kerr) Basler, Jr. On July 30, 2004 she married Michael J. Logan in Milford, MI. Her passions were equestrian horseback riding, spending time with family (especially shopping with her mother) and her pets. Besides her husband, Michael, she is survived by her parents, Henry and Debra Basler; brothers, Allen (Kimberly) Basler and Chris Basler; nephews, Kurtis Basler and Thomas Fackender; grandparents, Lois and Russell Kerr; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Kenneth Martin officiating. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee. .

Ann Bogucki, 56, of Brooklyn, passed away, May 22, 2008. Cremation has taken place.

Francis L. Shampo

Age 74, of Brooklyn, passed away, May 25, 2008. He was born April 13, 1934, in Hillsdale MI. He was retired from the Tecumseh Products Company. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services or visitation. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
