Alice Taylor Hamilton Nelson Sharpless

Age 95, of Bradenton, Fl, passed away May 26, 2008 at Freedom Village, Bradenton, FL. Alice was born April 24, 1913 in Britton, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle (Lee) Taylor. Alice was a graduate of Tecumseh High School and the Lenawee County Normal. She taught in Lenawee County rural schools until her marriage to Thomas A. Hamilton. Alice continued her education receiving a B. S. degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master's and Specialist Degree from the University of Michigan. Alice was a teacher and Principal at both the Britton Schools and Garfield Elementary School in Adrian. She also was director of Elementary Education in the Adrian schools. In 1968, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and served as Principal at the Irving Elementary School.

In 1970 she married Arthur T. Nelson, both retired in 1972 and they moved to Venice, Fl. from Minneapolis. In 1989, Arthur and Alice moved to Freedom Village, Bradenton, Florida where she became active serving as President of the Freedom Village Council, countless committees, and chairman of the Freedom Village Scholarship Committee.

Alice was a Past Matron and member of the Tecumseh Chapter 51, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bradenton, FL.

Mr. Nelson passed away in 1999 and in 2001 Alice married Frank (Ben) Sharpless. Besides her husband Frank (Ben Sharpless), Alice is survived by her son Thomas "Ed" Hamilton; stepson, Lowell Nelson; step daughters, Leslie (Scott) Bradley and Bonnie (Arthur) Scott; grandchildren, John, Erin, Tim, and Mike Hamilton; step grandchildren, Mark and Maren Nelson, Ben Killian and Billy Bradley; 6 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; brother Lee (Peggy) Taylor of Brooklyn, Mi. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Nelson and Thomas Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home,Tecumseh, with Rev. Lowell Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway cemetery, Ridgeway. Visitation will be 2:00 - 6:00 P. M. Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. A memorial service will be held at Freedom, Village, Bradenton, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Village Scholarship Fund, Freedom Village, 6501 17th Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34209.

Patricia Louise Lightfoot

Age 68, of Adrian, passed away on, May 26, 2008 at home. She was born July 10, 1939, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of William & Mary (Sexton) Castle. On November 3, 1956, she married George Lightfoot, he survives. She was an avid book reader and a self taught artist who loved to paint. Patricia loved gardening and her flowers.

She is survived by her husband, George, her children; Robert (Cindy) Lightfoot of Forrest Hill, MD, Buzz Lightfoot of Adrian, Corina Lightfoot of Adrian, Lissa Lightfoot of Adrian, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her mother, Mary Castle, two sisters, Christine Drogowski and Sharon McLaughlin, and one brother, Larry Castle, all of Adrian.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 30, 2008, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Jenna Shay Glisson-Campos

Age 23, of Adrian, passed away unexpectedly, May 29, 2008, at home. She was born August 2, 1984, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of James & Stephanie Glisson. On April 29, 2005, she married the love of her life, Mauro Campos, in Centerville, MI. Jenna was always our "Little Pia". She was dearly loved and will be missed by all that knew her.

Jenna is survived by her husband; Mauro, her parents; James & Stephanie, sisters; Rochelle (Dan) Forche and Kellie ((Jay) Niese, her brother; Shawn Glisson. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles, including three very special aunts; Susie (Rod) Harris, Melinda (Doug) Berry, and Donna (Danny) Glisson, her nieces and nephews who all adored her; Amanda and Ryan Reed, Kyle and Ashley Forche, her "little bubbie boy" Jaxon Niese, and her much anticipated niece, Jaleigh Jo. She will be dearly missed by her special cousin and friend, Trebbie Hindes.

She was preceded in death by her brother; Shane Glisson and her grandmother; Trebbie Glisson.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, June 2, 2008, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Dallas Cantu officiating, Interment will follow in Oakwood cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral, Adrian.

Kevin S. Keenan, age 53, of Trenton, passed away May 30, 2008. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

Ronald Howard Ellis

Age 40, of Adrian, passed away May 31, 2008, in Toledo, OH, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 16, 1967, in Detroit, MI, the son of Charles William & Martha (Kent) Ellis.

Ron was a Star Scout with BSA Troop 616 in Adrian. He was a graduate of Adrian High School and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Washington D.C. North Mission in 1986 -1988.

Ron was a former employee of Anderson Development Co., Adrian, MI and was currently employed at Telemus Capital Partners in Southfield, MI, as Assistant Controller.

In addition to his parents, Charles and Martha, he is survived by two brothers; Charles Allen (Kari) Ellis of Indianapolis, IN and David William Ellis of Adrian, MI. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Nicole, Michael, Madalynn and Charles Ellis of Indianapolis, IN and his beloved cats; Sammie and Aslan.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Ron was a thoughtful, caring person who was devoted to his family. He will be sorely missed by family and close friends. Nevertheless, we rejoice in his eternal progression.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to BSA Troup 616.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Adrian, with Bishop Richard DeVries officiating. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, and also on Saturday from 10:00 AM unitl the time of service at the church.

Scott Price, 42, of Tecumseh, passed away, May 29, 2008. Cremation has taken place.

Henritetta Ann Lee, 69, of Oak Park, passed away, June 2, 2008, at Providence Hospital, Southfield, MI. She was born July 25, 1938, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Henry & Thedosia (Maxwell) Densley. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services were held Monday, June, 9, 2008.

Rose Grant

Rose Grant, of Grand Rapids, passed away. June 3, 2008, in Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Burial will take place in Georgia.

William J. Franke

Age 87, of Adrian, passed away June 4, 2008. He was born May 25, 1921, in Germany, to Edmund & Frieda (Neuman) Franke. The Franke family came to the United States in 1928 and settled in the Adrian, MI area. Bill was married to Eva Mumaw on January 1, 1944, in Blissfield, MI.

Bill retired from United Trucking in 1980 where he'd been employed as a truck driver for twenty years. Prior to that, he was a land surveyor for the City of Adrian and for Walter Frazier.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eva, his brother, Kurt Franke of Winter Haven, FL, his sister, Ericka Abersold of Adrian, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Ralph.

Bill loved nature and especially the deer that resided in his woods. Each day he and Eva would put out feed for the deer which sometime numbered up to twenty. Bill would call to them and they would come out of the woods to eat. He loved his tractors and other toys. He served many friends with his art of sharpening chain saws for which he would take no money. We will miss our friend Bill Franke.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2008, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Helen Ann Nagy, 63, of Lincoln Park, MI, passed away June 7, 2008, at Oakwood Heritage Hospital, Taylor, MI. She was born September 28, 1944, in Detroit, MI. Cremation has taken place.

Paul R. Gomez

Age 87, of Tecumseh, died June 4, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 10, 1920 in Encinal, TX, the son of Lewis and Eulogia (Ruiz) Gomez. On May 5, 1941 he married Maria Luz Charo in Cotulla, TX. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2002.

Paul was a veteran of U.S. Army during WWII serving in New Guinea and Phillipines. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, the Sacred Heart Society the Guadalupe Society and the Cursillo Movement. Paul also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Paul was also a member of Tecumseh American Legion, Tecumseh VFW, Tecumseh Eagles and G.I. Forum.

Paul is survived by his children, Yolanda Gomez of Tecumseh, Elvia (Arnaldo) Sanchez of Waxahachie, TX, Esther (Jerry) Williams of Addison, Patricia (Joseph) Flores of Tecumseh and Raul (Bea) Gomez, Jr. of Tecumseh, 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and one brother Ernest (Elena) Gomez of Adrian.

In addition to his wife Maria, he was preceded in death a son Johnny Gomez in 2007.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Monday June 9, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, with Military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday and 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. An additional visitation will take place one hour prior to funeral mass Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. A scripture service will take place 7:30 p.m. Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Judith V. Church

Judith V. Church, 63, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away, June 6, 2008, at home. She was born March 30, 1945, in Ypsilanti, MI. Cremation has taken place.

Larry E. Owens, Sr.

Age 71, of Adrian, passed on, June 8, 2008, at home. at home. He was born June 29, 1936, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Lonnie & Ellen (Bell) Owens. On September 21, 1956, he married Wanda Winkle in Dexter, MI. She survives.

In addition, to his wife Wanda, he is survived by his children; Millie (Steve, Sr.) Wyman, Larry Edgar Owens, Jr., Ellen (Rodney) Wiley, Dorana Jyonkey, Mary (Victor) Caballero, Judy Beehler, and Angela (Dail) Anderson, 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one brother; Jim (Ginny) Owen, half brother, Paul Leedy, and half sister, Judy Leedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Dan Owens.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, June 13, 2008, in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Chaplain Steve Decker of Hospice of Lenawee officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday in the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Anna Staughton

Graveside services for Anna Staughton, 71, of Northfield, Minn will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, June 13, 2008 at Acacia Park cemetery, Beverly Hills, MI. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Bobby Gillespie, Jr.

Bobby Gillespie, Jr., 41, of Jackson, passed away June 10, 2008, at Foote Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Sunday, June 15, 2008. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Hueysville, KY.

Christopher E. Luce, 43, of Jackson, passed away, June 12, 2008, at Foote Hospital. Cremation has taken place.

Sapopa Ramirez Moreno

Age 60, of Adrian, passed on June 14, 2008. She was born February 8, 1948, the daughter of Domingo & Belen (Ramirez) Montenegro. On October 18, 1969, she married Ramiro Moreno, he survives.

In addition to her husband Ramiro, she is survived by her children; Virginia (Oscar) Portillo, Ramiro G. Moreno, Jaime Moreno, and Ricardo Moreno, eight grandchildren; Tifiney and Chelsea Bauer, Samantha and Elisa Portillo, and Katelyn Moreno, Lilianna, Natalie, and Michael Hernandez two brothers; Julio (Sue) Valdez and Manuel (Alma) Valdez, three sisters; Mary Valdez, Rosa (Duane) Baugh, Petria (Leopoldo) Ruiz-Martinez, and her nieces who she raised; Belen Valdez and Gloria Moreno.

She was preceded in death by her parents Domingo & Belen Valdez, her son; Bicente Domingo Moreno, and three brothers; Leo Valdez, Guadalupe Valdez and Bicente Valdez

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Adrian with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm and Rev. Fr. Louis Komorowski presiding. Interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Calistro Torres officiating. Also visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

Debbie Prentice

Debbie Prentice, of Warren, MI, passed away, June 14, 2008. Burial will take place in Cold Springs cemetery, Lockport, New York.

Louis Forysek

Louis Forysek, 82, of Detroit, MI, passed away, June 15, 2008, at Henry Ford Hospital. Cremation has taken place.
