Richard D. Dugan

Age 38, of Britton, passed away June 19, 2008. Richard was born October 16, 1969 in Danville, Indiana the son of Richard L. and Jeanne (Sydow) Dugan. On April 24, 1999 he married Lori Cooper in Augusta, MI. She survives. He was a graduate of Purdue University and was employed by the University of Michigan as a Health Physicist. He loved boating, water and nature.

Besides his wife Lori, Richard is survived by three daughters, Arianna, Maya, and Ashleigh of Britton; mother, Jeanne Dugan of Stilesville, IN; siblings, Ronald (Teresa) Dugan and Carrie (Alonzo) Nichols both of Greencastle, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Richard L. Dugan and his grandparents.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, June 26, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Father Francis Mossholder officiating. Burial will follow in Yorkville cemetery, Augusta, MI. Visitation will be 6:00 P. M. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh followed by a Vigil Service at 7:30 P. M officiated by Deacon James Nicholson. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. .

Arrangements are entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Ronald J. Cirko

Ronald J. Cirko, 56, of Warren, MI, passed away June 19, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI. He was born Jaunuary 27, 1952, in Emporium, PA, the son of Michael & Anna (Carey) Cirko. Cremation will take place.

Violet E. Baughey

Age 72, passed away June 20, 2008 at home. She was born February 19, 1936 in Tullahoma, Tennessee to Aubrey and Annie (Dudley) Tucker. On February 23, 1952, she married William A. Baughey in Adrian, Michigan and he survives.

Violet worked for the Adrian Public Schools for 26 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Adrian. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband William, she is survived by her mother, Annie, and her sons Douglas and Joanna Baughey and Wendell and Karen Baughey, three grandchildren, Ethan, Cathy, and Bill and four great grandchildren. Violet is also survived by her sisters Doris (Milton) Pate, Joy (Jim) Hyder and brothers Eugene (Joan) Tucker and Bobbie (Sharon) Tucker, many nieces and nephews, and one aunt, Odie Bell Cantrel from Muncie, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Tucker.

Funeral services for Violet will be 2:00 PM on Monday, June 23, 2008, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Dr. David Fulks officiating and Rev. Mike Vickers. Interment will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian, Michigan. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2008, and also on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Clarissa J. (Susie) Walker

Age 85, of Tecumseh, formerly of Manchester, passed away March 23, 2008. Susie was born April 30, 1922 in Vandercook Lake, Michigan the daughter of Ora and Gladys (Miller) Walcutt. On January 31, 1959 she married Thomas Hollis Walker in Manchester. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1975. The loves of her life were her children and
grandchildren.

Susie is survived by her children, Diane Zincke of Howell, MI, Patricia (Kevin) Dwyer of Portage, MI and Steven (Judy) Walker of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Thomas, Susie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael; daughter, Holly Sue; brothers, Robert, Richard and Ora, Jr. and sisters, Zella, Madge and Margaret.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Alan Maki officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery, Manchester. Visitation will be 5 - 8 P. M. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.

Reita Faye Wagner

Age 57, passed away March 24, 2008. Reita was born December 6, 1950 in Northville, MI the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Pinion) Ferguson.

On October 20, 1990 she married Howard Wagner in Milan, MI. He survives.

Reita was a licensed cosmetologist.

She was a member of the O. E. S. #51 of Tecumseh, Secretary of Chapter A. J. P. E. O., Vice President of Tecumseh Monday Club and a member of GFWC of Lenawee and a member of the Past Matrons Club of the Eastern Star.

Reita was also a host and involved with the International Foreign Exchange Student Program. She had a profound love for her children and family and will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband, Howard, Reita is survived by her children, Janet Neely, Karen (Jamie) Erngren, Jeffery (Mindy) Neely and Daniel (Veronica) Federspiel; step children, Danielle (Keith) Breeding and Kimberly Wagner; grandchildren, Kevin, Jessica, Jacob, Kristy, Kayla, Dilynn, Ryan, Ashlee, Chelsee, Jeffery Jr., Devin, Hayley, David, Austen, Ayana, Amais and Amari; great grandchild, Jonathan; step grandchildren, Breeanne and Zackary; three sisters and four brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A celebration of life will be held 12:00 P. M. (noon) Friday, March 28, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Pastor Wayne Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Thursday, March 27, 2007 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted by the Tecumseh Chapter #51 O.E.S. at 7 PM Thursday. .

Emily Fry

Passed on March 25, 2008 in Hillsdale, MI. Cremation will take place.

Edwin Michael Jones "Eddie"

Age 32 of Britton, went to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer on March 25, 2008, at home surrounded by his family and friends.

On June 16, 1975, he was born in Tecumseh, MI the son of Donald and Sonja (Strand) Jones. He married Valerie Sue Bates on February 3, 1996 at Ridgeway Church of the Nazerene. She survives.

Eddie was a loving father of 3 young children which he adored and spent much of his time with. He was an avid snowmobiler. He enjoyed many other outdoor activities including; hunting, archery with his son Jesse, and four-wheeling with his daughters Callie and Alicia.

Eddie was a member of Ridgeway Church of the Nazerene. He was employed with Delphi, Adrian Plant, as a Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29. 2008 at Ridgeway Church of the Nazerene with Rev. Ray Hansen officiating. Entombment will follow at Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh, MI.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. both Thursday and Friday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, ADRIAN, and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at the church.

Margaret Emma Kappler Higgins

Age 96, of Tecumseh, passed away, Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Herrick Manor in Tecumseh, MI. Margaret was born December 19, 1911 to Reuben and Emma (Wolfe) Kappler in Sharon Township, Manchester, MI.

After graduation from Manchester High School in 1930 and then from W. A. Foote Hospital School of Nursing in 1934, she married Howard F. Higgins, also of Manchester, on October 29, 1934.

Mrs. Higgins became the first night nurse at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh in 1939.

For many years she was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester and more recently a member of Britton Congregational Christian Church in Britton.

She was Past Matron and Life member of the Order of Eastern Star #101 in Manchester.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Gustav) Kuether of Belleville, IL; a son Hugh H, Higgins of Bolder, CO; three grandchildren, Scott (Sandy) Kuether, Lynda Kuether, Lori (John) Schultz and five great grandchildren, Brittany and Emily Kuether and Matthew, William, and Amanda Schultz; three nieces, Barbara Jo (John) Beck, Kay (Art) Herrst, and Sally (Frank) Doub; two nephews, Roger (Dulce) Kappler and Doug Higgins; a sister in law, Helen Kappler; and her very good friends, Jack Tonneberger and Ralph McClain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard, on July 6, 1991, as well as six brothers; Walter, Lawrence, Paul, Alvin, Homer and Robert; two sisters, Ruth Lauer and Edna Zoris; and her brother in law and sister in law, Norman and Bernice Higgins and a nephew, James Kappler. The family wishes, on Margaret's behalf, to thank Mrs. Barbara Osga, Dr.
Stephen Bachmeyer and the staffs of Charlotte Stephenson Manor and Herrick Manor for their kind and gracious care during her days of confinement.

Funeral services for Mrs. Higgins will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Britton Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. David Welcome and Rev. Gustav Kuether officiating at the celebration of life and hope.

Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.

Visitation will be at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh from 5:00 to 8:00 P. M. Friday, March 28, 2008 and again at 1:30 P. M. on Saturday at the Britton Congregational Christian Church. .

Leoma E. Rickard

Age 90, formerly of Holloway, passed away March 27, 2008. Leoma was born December 5, 1917 in Deerfield, Michigan, the daughter of Otis and Angeline (Bragg) Payne.

On February 24, 1940 she married Hayes Junior Rickard in Adrian.

He preceded her in death in 1949. For the past 20 years she made her home with her granddaughter Carolyn (Hassan) Anahid where she helped raise her great granddaughters Parisa and Sahra Anahid.

Tecumseh residents will remember Leoma as a sales person working for Osbornes Department Store.

Leoma is survived by her children Kay (David) Randolph of Tecumseh and Bernard (Bonnie) Rickard of Adrian; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brother, Arlo Payne of Marion, MI; several nieces and nephews and all who called her "Grandma." Besides her husband, Hayes, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gary; granddaughter, Susan; great grandson, Jonathan; and son in law, Robert Cubberly; 2 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, March 31, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. David Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield cemetery.

Visitation will be 2:00 - 6:00 P. M. Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. .

Jeanne K. Kempf

Age 86, of Holt, formerly of Tecumseh, passed away March 27, 2008. Jeanne was born October 13, 1921 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the daughter of Raymond and Jessie (Lake) Sluyter, Sr. In 1971 she married Norman Kempf He preceded her in death. Jeanne graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Mercy College of Nursing. During World War II, she served her country as a Lieutenant in the Navy Nurse Corps. Throughout her working years she was employed as a registered nurse at the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital, Herrick Hospital, Tecumseh, and retired from Bixby Hospital in Adrian Jeanne was a member of the Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church and various nursing associations.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila LaRoue of Holt and Elizabeth (Richard) Barber of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Chris, Colleen, Michelle, and Stephanie; three great grandchildren, Kristeena, Cassie and Ashley and brother, Raymond Sluyter, Jr. of Jefferson City, MO She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman and
her parents.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh, at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. .

Angel Luis Millet, Sr.

Age 82, of Adrian, passed away March 29, 2008. Angel was born June 30, 1925 in Camuy, Puerto Rico, the son of Valentin and Hermenia (Quintana) Millet. On July 29, 1950, he married Lucille Luck in Monroe. She survives. From 1943 - 1945, Angel served his country in the United States Army in the Infantry Coast Artillery Battalion as an Army engineer in Okinawa where he obtained the rank of Corporal. In 1947 he came to Adrian to attend flight training school where he received his private pilot's license. He was employed for 19 years at Stubnitz & Greene and then started his own business, Caton Hill Garage, retiring in 1994 after 28 years.

He enjoyed serving the community in various ways, 22 years at WLEN as a Spanish radio disc jockey, a court Spanish translator for the Lenawee County Court system and was active on many committees that served the Hispanic community. He also was a member of the First Church of the Brethren.

Besides his wife, Lucille, Angel is survived by his children, Allen (Deb) Hatt of Jasper, Angel Millet, Jr. of Monroe, Deb (Sid) Barrow of Adrian, Cheryl Millet of Federal Way, WA, Marlene Millet of Adrian and Kevin Millet of Cape Cod, MA; 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maria Mercedes Millet.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor David Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh with Military Honors conducted by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Annis Fint. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Monday, March 31, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.

Louise E. Hutson, age 87. of Tecumseh, passed away March 29, 2008. Funeral arrangements are pending at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
