Alzada Noble

Age 85, of Adrian, passed away, March 31,2008. She is survived by her children; Nancy Miller, Alzada Dolencic, and Leland "Sam" Brown, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren At her request cremation will take place. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
Robert Dennis Wolf

Age 82, of Tecumseh, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 with his wife at his side. He was born in Hudson, MI, December 3, 1925, son of Lester and Birdie (Day) Wolf. Robert married Elizabeth Marie Procknow on August 22, 1947, in Blissfield, MI.

Robert is survived by his wife, and their five children, Ellen (Charles) Cartwright, Betsy Yagiela, Robin (Len) Yoder, Todd (Cristina)Wolf and Amy (Federico) Galliani. Eight adoring grandchildren also survive: Andrew Yagiela, Emily Yagiela, Sarah Yoder, Rachel Yoder, Paul Michael Wolf, Laura Steinle, Angela Galliani, and Jacquelyn Galliani. Robert is also survived by four brothers, Dr. William Wolf, Lester Wolf, Jack Wolf and David Wolf along with four sisters, Mary Lohr, Nellie Sternitzke, Wanda Reece and Jane Diamond. He was preceded in death a sister, Helen Waterbrook.

For many years, Robert owned and operated Wolf's TV and Appliance in Tecumseh. He attended Andrews University, Michigan State University and graduated from Adrian College in 1951. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church on the Ridge. In addition to loving his family he also had a passion for computers, his appliance business and vegetable gardening. He will be fiercely missed by his family.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday April 4, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Britton, with Rev. Paul Pollatz officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, ADRIAN and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a contribution to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, 9950 Ridge Hwy. Britton, MI 49229.

Patricia Osburn Kennel

Age 87, of Tecumseh, died April 4, 2008. She was born July 3, 1920 in Ridgeway Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Raymond Charles and Purnell Adelia (Lowe) Osburn. On September 2, 1944 she married Carl D. Kennel. He survives.

Patricia was graduate of Blissfield County Normal. She was employed as a school teacher in rural areas of Lenawee County for four years. During World War II, she worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and visiting friends. Patricia along with her delicious chocolate chip cookies will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband Carl, she is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Gordon) Snyder of Adrian, and Susan (James) Switzenberg of Stockbridge; a son, David (Julie) Kennel of Brighton, MI; her grandchildren, Jill (Guy) Foreman of Valpariso, IN, Edward (Becca) Snyder of Ann Arbor, James Jr. (Kimberly) Switzenberg of Stockbridge, Michael (Toni) Switzenberg of Stockbridge, Daniel (Amy) Switzenberg of Gregory, Benjamin (Stephanie) Switzenberg of Jackson, and Andrew Switzenberg of Stockbridge, Shawn (Margaret) Doane of Gregory, and Molly Doane of Albuquerque, NM; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Edwards of Tecumseh; and three sister-in-laws, Pearl Osburn of Tecumseh, Lillian Kritzler of Kenton, OH, and Helen Fairburn of Lima, OH.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Charles "Chuck" Osburn, James "Jim" Osburn, Jack Osburn, and, Louis Schneider.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday April 8, 2008 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeway cemetery.

Visitation will also take place Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service.

A reception with food and refreshment in honor of Patricia will follow the graveside committal service.

Mae Camp, of Adrian, MI, passed away April 5, 2008 in Adrian, MI.

Services and burial will take place in Mississippi.

Bethel Hoge

Age 93, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian, MI. Bethel was born August 26, 1914 in Cody, WY. Bethel was a long time resident of Cody, WY where she loved the clear skies, the mountains and combing the hills for pretty rocks. She was always very active and seldom missed a chance to be on the go.

Bethel is survived by one son, Forrest (Judy) Hoge of Adrian; three grandchildren, Bill Hoge of Dearborn, Ron (Amy) Hoge of Traverse City and Rebecca Vahle of Madison, WI and one great grandson, Billy Hoge

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. No local services are being planned. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Edward B. Rapin, Jr.

Age 53 of Raisin Twp., died April 11, 2008. He was born November 21, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward (Sr.) and Florence (Bishop) Rapin. Both preceded him in death.

Edward served in the US Navy before settling in Michigan. He met his best friend, Barbara, while stationed in Boston, MA. They were married on October 17, 1975 in Cranston, RI. He graduated from Western Michigan University. He was employed by General Motors Powertrain, Toledo, OH, retiring as a UAW representative and Trustee of Local 14. He was a devoted husband and father and an avid fisherman and gardener.

Barbara remains along with the five children they were blessed with. Benjamin (Holly) of Grand Rapids, MI, Kristin of Fredericksburg, VA,; Matt (Melissa) Rapin, Marie Rapin, and LeeAnn Rapin, all of Tecumseh, MI. He is further survived by his nine younger siblings and their families; Mary Langham, Frank Rapin, Donald Rapin, Joan Gaglio, Therese Rains, Michelle Klima, and Melissa Hilton.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 15, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 16, 2008 at Brookside cemetery with military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187.

Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. on Monday April 14, 2008 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, and also at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral mass.

A scripture service will also take place 7:30 p.m. Monday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of Lenawee in Ed's memory.

Glenn A Cross

Age 76, of Michigan Center, passed away at his home on April 13th 2008, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theodora; his dog Snuggles, three daughters, Glenna, Jodie and Michelle; one son, Christopher Cross, step-daughter, Donna (Duncan) Howard; 7 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen (Ken) Parks , Mina (Bob) Gillespie, Diane (Kenny) Perry; two brothers, Kenny (Norma) Cross, Eddie Cross; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Glenn was a retiree of Harvard Industries (Hayes Albion). As was his request cremation has taken place. A luncheon will be held to celebrate his life on April 16th from 1-4pm at Lions Club of Michigan Center, 600 Fifth St., Michigan Center. For those who wish, contributions in Glenn’s memory can be made to Hospice of Jackson and Oaklawn. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Edna Faye Lester

Age 54, of Adrian, passed away April 15, 2008. Edna was born April 28, 1953 in Adrian, Michigan the daughter of Stewart and Gladys (Phillips) Clark. She was a graduate of Madison High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in education from Siena Heights University. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Edna was a member of the Adrian Eagle's Club - Women's Auxiliary and the Big Gorilla Program. Edna is survived by her sons, James P., Shane K., and Rex (Nichole) Lester; brothers Kenneth (Barb) and Larry (Alice) Clark; sister Evelyn (Gene) Hensley; 5 grandchildren; her companion, Scott McCarthy and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Stewart.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Friday, April 18, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with the Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Visitation will be 12:00 noon Friday, April 18, 2008 until the time of service at 2:00 P. M. at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian. .

Douglas W. Randolph

Age 39, of Clinton, passed away April 17, 2008. Douglas was born December 13, 1968 in Adrian the son of Ralph and Mary (Johnson) Randolph. He was a 1987 graduate of Tecumseh High School. Douglas was employed at Ford Motor Company, Saline. His many interests were golf, fishing with his father, bowling, computers and all sports, especially U of M football. If somebody needed anything, Doug would be there and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his parents, Douglas and Mary Randolph of Tecumseh; sister Malinda (John) Boulton of Allen; grandmother, Ellen Johnson of Adrian; his girlfriend, Polly Fosbender Murphy of Clinton; one niece, Lauretta Boulton; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog, Tynker Bella. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Lauretta Randolph; his maternal grandfather, Richard Johnson and aunt, Barbara Seeburger.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with the Rev. Richard Coury officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P. M. Monday, April 21, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made to the family,

John Raymond Cottle

Nov. 22, 1953 - April 16, 2008

Parents, Luella Cottle Chatters and the late Charles Cottle. survived by his mother. a sister, Diana (Barry) Porter of Bangor, ME; two brothers, Kenneth (Arlene) Cottle of Warwick, NY, Christopher (Megan) Cottle of Perrysburg, OH, and nine nieces and nephews.

John, a developmentally delayed person, lived much of his life in community placements , most recently at Borg Street Home in Temperance, MI. He will be missed by those who shared his childlike joy in the world.

Cremation has taken place. No services will be held.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the the Association for Retarded Citizens.

Arrangements were entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Merle J. Shorthouse, Jr.

Age 61, of Jackson, passed away from lung cancer, April 17, 2008, at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jackson. On November 18, 1966, he married Glenda Shavalier, she preceded him in death on June 11, 2006. Merle worked for the Jackson Transit Authority for 28 years.

He is survived by his daughters; Theresa Cass (Syd) Valliere, Angela (Michael A.) Foor, his grandchildren, Kaylenna, Rachel, Dannielle, Holly, Derek, Emily, his siblings, Pat (Bill) Butchart, Gloria Knierim, Sharon (Lloyd) Goll, and Sheldon Shorthouse, and Mother in law, Genevieve Shavalier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle Sr. & Lillian (Filter) Shorthouse, a sister, Connie Case.

Graveside Services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian, with Bill Butchart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Jackson. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. family at:

Michael Patrick Cannon, 41, of Clinton Twp., MI, passed away April2, 2008 at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center. Cremation taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Willet G. Yagerman

Willet G. Yagerman, 77, passed away April 14, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy, MI. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Roland E. Sager

Age 76, of Jackson, died April 20, 2008. He was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Grass Lake, MI the son of Elmer and Leta (Lehman) Sager. On May 9, 1953 he married Dee Jacobs. She survives

In addition to his wife, Dee, of 55 years, Roland is survived by, a daughter Denise (Mike) Jordan of Tecumseh; Roland "Corky" (Verna) Sager of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Autumn, Bryan, Brandi, Zak, Amanda, and Amber; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Sager and Paul Sager; and two sisters Betty Teller and Phyllis McArthur

He was preceded in death by; two granddaughters, Ginger and Heather; great grandson, William; and four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will take place 5:00 p.m. Wednesday April 23, 2008 at Northeast Missionary, 903 Virginia St., Jackson, MI, with Rev. Darren Pettifor officiating.

Visitation will also take place Wednesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: K&E Credit Union, Jackson, MI; which will then be disbursed to charities of Roland's choice.

Rickey Lee Scott

Age 54, Of Dexter, MI, passed away, April 21, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hicks, his mother, Colleen Griffin both of Dexter, his sons, Colton Scott of Dexter, Nathan (Stacey) Scott of Adrian, Dylan, Shelby, Thorne Scott all of Clayton, his daughters, Tabatha (Ken Halliwill) Scott and Ciji (Shawn Halliwill) Scott both of Prattville, seven granddaughters, Kya Ann Todd of Hillsdale, Hayleigh, Candace, Lacy, Kita Halliwill all of Pratville, Katelyn and Destiny Clark both of Adrian, two brothers; Dennis Scott of Bryan, OH and Byron Cook of Grand Rapids, one sister, Kathy Detwiler of Alvorton, OH, his friends Leanna, Terrie, Erica Hiser of Clayton.

He was preceded in death by his son; Jay Scott, his father, Paul Alpaugh, his brother Fredrick Alpaugh, his sister, Candance Alpaugh, his grandparents, Elwood & Ila Pfeifer, father in law & mother in law, Jesse & Marie Warren.

At Rick's request, no services will be held and cremation has taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Home, Adrian, MI.
