Clifford Melvin Whitney
Clifford Melvin Whitney, 60, of Fairfield, passed away, April 13, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. He went to be with Jesus in his Eternal Home. He was born July 15, 1948, to Melvin C. Whitney and Katherine Whitney (Smith). He served in the Armed Forces, both Army and Navy.
He is preceded in death by his father Melvin Whitney and step father Kenneth G. Smith.
He is survived by his mother Katherine Smith, sister Carol (Randy) McCoy of Rousseau, KY, step sister, Deanna (Donald) LeDroit of Adrian, two step brothers, Robert (Roberta) Smith of Clayton and Larry Smith of Ocean Springs, MS, and also several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed fishing and going to the Hoagie Man Restaurant and seeing his many friends.
At Clifford's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 17, 2009, at Jasper Bible Church with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Michigan Army National Guard, Honor Guard, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Mary Ann Stewart
Mary Ann Stewart died Monday April 13th, 2009 at Bixby Medical Center. Mary was born November 11th, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Charles Stewart on June 2nd, 1967 and settled down in Adrian to raise their family in 1978.
Mary is survived by her husband Charles, her children Charles and Carrie Stewart and her grandson Elijah Noble Stewart.
Memorial Services will be held for Mary at 4:00 PM on Friday April 17th, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Grandaughter of Vergie Richardson of Frontier, MI, beloved sister of Jacob Robin of Clinton and Jeff (Christine) Robin of Ypsilanti, MI, two sisters at home, Jillian Robin and Julia Doan, beloved niece of John & Ruth Doan, Chris Doan, Melissa & Greg Megale, Barry & Gudrin Doan, Jay & Lisa Doan, Yvonne & Fred Thompson, Howard & Nancy Ashford, Jeff & Lillian Ashford, Cheryl Martin, Gina Wayne and Juliane & Tony Davis, also special second parents, Danny & Kimber Lindeman.
Her church family of Clinton & Adrian, who were very dear to Jenna. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandparents and her aunt Antoinette of whom she was named. Jenna was a young lady full of life and love for all . Jenna loved her family, her church, and her church family. And her best friend Monica Getner. Jenna loved doing hair, writing stories, playing soccer and climbing trees. Jenna has a special way with small children and babies and they all loved her especially Jaden Romero . But her greatest love was that for Jesus and from a small child she wanted to be with him and now she is .
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI with Pastor Timothy Richmond & Pastor Rick Strawcutter officiating. Burial will follow in Palmyra cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Raul O. "Roy" Mendez, Sr.
Age 85, of Adrian, passed away, February 26, 2009, at home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 1, 1923, in San Antonio, TX, the son of Cristobal Ozuna & Maria Mendez.
On September 11, 1955, he married Donna Nichols in Lima, OH, she survives. He was retired from Peerless Gear.
Roy also worked in the deli at Meijer's in Adrian for the past 13 years. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Roy was a devoted Democrat and a Precinct 2 Delegate and a proud WW II Veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in the Phillippines.
Roy enriched people’s lives by playing Santa Claus and visiting the middle school where his daughter worked.
He sang from early childhood through all his life to make people happy.
Roy was a friend and grandpa to everyone. He sang happy birthday to anyone whose birthday it was.
He made everyone smile who crossed his path. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his children; Leonard R. (Jesusita) Mendez, Cristobal (Cynthia) Mendez, Raul H. (Eugenia) Mendez, David L. (Teresa) Hasting, Peggy M. (Wandell) Mayhorn, Carolyn S. (James) Wireman, Angelina Ables (Michael SanMiguel), Raul O. (Gayle) Mendez, Jr. and Tina (Manuel) Ramirez, 30 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, two primo hermanos, Francisco (Margarita) Diaz & Gonzalo Diaz, half sister, Ernestina Torres, dear cousin, Ofelia Luna, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, James Wireman, Jr., and Felix Beltran, two cousins, John and Tony Morales, and maternal grandparents, Juliana & Eusebio Mendez.
Funeral Mass will be held, 10:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2009, at St. Mary of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Adrian, with Rev. Fr. Robert Schramm as Presider.
Rite of Committal will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian with Military Honors conducted by the Michigan Army National Guard Honor Guard, Lansing, MI.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on both Saturday & Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian and also on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A Vigil Prayer service will be held 7:00 PM Sunday at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.
