Rose Jacqueline Savcic

Age 72, passed away December 20, 2008. Rose was born October 8, 1936 in Lorain, Ohio. Rose worked at the Sand Lake Inn since 1960 when the former proprietors hired her to be a waitress and nanny to their daughter. After they brought their son Mlado (Mike) over from Yugoslavia, the two met and married in 1965. He survives. In 1980 Rose and Mike acquired the restaurant from Mike's parents and continued to operate to the present. Rose also owned and operated the Hairitage Beauty Salon in the Irish Hills from 1970 to 2004. Besides her husband, Mike, Rose is survived by her son, Darko; granddaughter, GeGe; mother in law, Millie; sister in law, Vera and her sister, Theresa. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P. M. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Fr. Russ Kohler and Fr. Zivko Kajevic officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be 1 - 3 and 5 - 7 P. M. Friday, December 26, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Ethel Elizabeth Houtz

Age 76, of Tecumseh, passed away, December 22, 2008. She was born January 2, 1932, the daughter of Ora and Inez (Tanner) Derr. She married Arvine Houtz at the First Baptist Church in Hudson, MI, on August 19, 1950, he survives.

She was retired from Peerless Gear Corporation in 1991 and also from Meijer's in Adrian. Ethel enjoyed her grandchildren, camping and reading.

In addition to her husband Arvine, she is survived by two daughters, Karen (David) Cole of Adrian, and Sheryl (Douglas) Podlewski of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Lorie Cole, Kristi (Clarence) Burger, Shawna (Mike) Kelly, Tyler Cox, Alaina (Gregory "GT") Jenkins, Jamie Podlewski and Emma Podlewski five great grandchildren, Sarah, Sean, Mykal, Shelby, and Ashley.

Preceded in death by parents, three brothers, Robert, Harold, and Rex Derr.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 26, 2008, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home until the time of service. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to be distributed to charities of their choice.

Barbara Van Sickle

Barbara Van Sickle, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away unexpectedly. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

Antonio "Anthony Biage" Bova, 81, passed away, December 12, 2008, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI. Cremation will take place.

Beverly Waynick

Age 72, of Britton, passed away, December 12, 2008. Beverly was born December 15, 1935 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Harold and Thelma (Swaney) Utting. On January 15, 1953 she married Brandon E. Waynick, Sr. in Detroit. For many years she worked at the Diner in Tecumseh and also worked for her sons in Waynick Landscaping and Building. Beverly was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and the best cookie maker in the world.

Besides her husband Brandon, Beverly is survived by her children, Brandon, Jr. (Linda) of Adrian, Randy (Rachel) of Tecumseh, Denise (Harold) Sanderson of Pace, FL, Brenda (Mark) Dinius of Adrian, Teresa (Jesse,Jr.) Love of Tecumseh, Michael (Tami) of Adrian, Gregory (Lisa) of Britton and Dove (Tina) of Adrian; 26 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nellie.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 - 8:00 P, M. Monday, December 15, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Stanley Wright

Age 75, of Lansing, MI died Dec. 13, 2008. Funeral services took place Dec. 18, 2008 at Broadway Church of Christ, Marked Tree, AR. Burial followed at Marked Tree cemetery, Marked Tree, AR. Arrangements were under the direction of J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Age 19, of Chicago, Ill, passed away, June 21, 2008, in Detroit, MI, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born June 19, 1989, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Carlos & Myrna (Rodriguez) Ortega. Burial will take place in Mt. Olive cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.

Robert J. Markotan, 74, of Dearborn Heights, MI, passed away, June 23, 2008, at Oakwood Heritage Hospital, Taylor, MI. Cremation has taken place.

Guilherme "Bill" Perche

Age 49, of Tecumseh and Brazil, passed away June 24, 2008. Bill was born March 29, 1959 in Araras, Sao Paulo, Brazil the son of Gil Perche de Menezes and Maria (Esteves) Perche. On January 30,1981 he married Lilian Bottene in Piracicaba. Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Guilherme received his Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from ITA University in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil and his Masters Degree in Business Administration from FGV in Brazil. He was employed by the Tecumseh Products for the last 15 years, 12 in Brazil and 3 in Tecumseh. He attended the Clinton United Church of Christ and was training to be a hospice caregiver. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brazil and attended the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge.

Besides his wife, Lilian, Bill is survived by two daughters, Sophia and Gabriela Bottene Perche of Brazil; mother, Neyta Perche of Brazil; sister, Helena Esteves Perche; brothers, Dr. Moacyr Esteves Perche and Enio Esteves Perche, both of Brazil.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Clinton United Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Uphaus officiating. Burial will be in Brazil. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton United Church of Christ. . Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Milford Oris Ruddick

ADRIAN, MI

Born in Northville, MI, May 18, 1916. At the age of 92, he went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2008. He was in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gwendolyn Colsell Rudduck, two daughters, Sharon Rudduck and Janet Brion and son in law, Gene Brion. He has a surviving sister, Eleanor Auten of Milan, MI, and two brothers, Roy Rudduck of Fountain Inn, SC and Harold Rudduck of Marquette, MI. He has 6 surviving grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

He was a farmer and also employed by Ford Motor Company for 42 1/2 years, and has been retired since 1978. He lived in the Milan, MI area for many years and in Adrian, MI, for the past 11 years.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 1, 2008, at 11;00 AM, at the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene, 50 Industrial Drive, Adrian, MI The family would appreciate memorial contributions given to Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, MI. Arrangements entrusted to J. GILBERT PURSE FUNERAL HOME, ADRIAN, MI.

Ray L. Surbrook, 97, of Michigan Center, passed away June 25, 2008 at Countryside Care Center, Jackson, MI. Cremation has taken place.

Jesse J. Baughey

Age 85, of Tecumseh, passed away June 25, 2008. Jesse was born April 8, 1923 in Adrian, MI the son of Andrew and Marie (Snead) Baughey. On December 12, 1942 he married Doris M. Shaffer in Adrian and she preceded him in death October 4, 1992. Jesse was a resident of Tecumseh since 1942 and was retired from the Tecumseh Products. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with Company B, 126th Infantry and was a Life Member of the Tecumseh American Legion Post 0034, a member of Tecumseh VFW Post 4187 and the Tecumseh Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Jesse is survived by one daughter Mrs. Garry (Vicki) Sharp of Saline, 2 sons; Grant and his wife Judy Baughey and Joel Baughey both of Tecumseh; brother Howard J. Baughey of Tecumseh; 3 grandsons, Scott and Jeff Sharp and Kevin Baughey and five great grandchildren Besides his wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rose Mobley and a brother, George J. Baughey.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, June 30, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 P. M. Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh..

Harlan A. Karmol, Sr.

75, of Blissfield, passed away, June 26, 2008. He was born in Ottawa Lake, MI, the son of John A. & Lucille (LaVoy) Karmol. He retired from G.M. Powertrain as a supervisor. He farmed in his earlier years and worked as a sheet metal worker. Harlan enjoyed flying airplanes, working on engines, and helping people solve problems. He served as a member of the Blissfield Village Council, Samaria Masonic Lodge, and an usher at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Harlan is survived by his wife Rosemary of 53 years, his sons; Harlan A. Jr., (Joyce) Karmol and Gregory R. (Melissa) Karmol, his daughter; Karen P. Cabinaw, his grandchildren; Jason (Shelly) Karmol, Rachel (Mark) Luker, Rebecca Karmol and Shanti Cabinaw, his great grandchildren; Karson and Kiana Karmol, one sister; Marilyn Langenderfer, brother in laws; Melvin Turk, James Buechele, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marcine Turk and Lenore Buechele and one brother, John Karmol, Jr.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Blissfield with Rev. Fr. Francis Mossholder as Presider. Rite of Commital will follow in Pleasantview cemetery, Blissfield. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy (M-52), Adrian, MI, and also from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Monday. A Masonic Service will be held 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home by the Samaria Lodge #438. The Rosary Service will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society, 705 W. Beecher, Adrian, MI 49221, in memory of Harlan's love for animals.

Dawn Marie Ramirez Clark

Age 31, of Adrian, passed away June 26, 2008. She was born February 14, 1977, the daughter of Luis Ramirez, Jr., & Karen (Dennis) Herndon. She was a loving daughter, mother and a good friend to everyone. In addition to her parents she is survived by her three children, Daniel, Laura, and Richard, her fiancee, Frank Dean, her grandparents, and several other family members. Memorial contributions may be made in Dawn's name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Age 92, of Adrian, formerly of Tecumseh, passed away June 27, 2008. Reba was born March 24, 1916 in Elkmont, TN the daughter of James and Millie (Davis) Stewart. On December 29, 1954 she married Martin E. Siler in Indiana. Nana's life centered around her family and close friends. She was an avid animal lover. Reba was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Bethel, TN, joining when she was a teenager.

Besides her husband Martin, Reba is survived by her daughter, Lynda Joyce (Maynard) Smith of Britton; grandchildren, Mary Beth (David) Leathers of Adrian and Kevin Hodges of Britton; sister, Myrtice Tedford of Hartselle, AL; brother, Paul Stewart of Peoria, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Reba was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Private family funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Monday, June 30, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Thomas Frantz officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway cemetery, Ridgeway. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Monday, one hour prior to the service.
