Age 47, of Clark Lake, MI, passed away, July 14, 2008. Funeral Services will be held, Friday, July 18, 2008, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral Home.

Ronald Merzweiler, passed away at E.W. Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI. Burial will take place in St. Louis, Missouri.

Yi Shou Wu, of Saginaw, MI, passed away at Covenant Health Center in Saginaw, MI. Burial will take place in New York.

William J. Polger

William J. Polger, 79, of Jackson, MI, passed away, July 16, 2008, at home. Cremation has taken place.

Sharon G. Rinne

Age 65, of Tecumseh, passed away July 17, 2008. Sharon was born April 3, 1943 in Dearborn, MI the daughter of Earl and Letitia (Hill McCarthy) Malvitz. On September 30, 1961 she married Herman L. Rinne in Waltz, Michigan. He survives. Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Airport High School and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. Sharon loved children and was a first and second grade teacher at St. John's Lutheran School in Adrian and later owned her own day care, Broadstreet Learning Center in Adrian.

She was the most happy spending time with her grandchildren or watching them participate in their sporting events.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of the Irish Hills and served as their treasurer, a member of the LWML, a quilter, and past Sunday School Superintendent and teacher.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Herman, her daughters, Anne (Bill) Kasper and Kimberly Kasper; son, William (Kelly) Rinne; grandchildren Will and Kaylene Kasper, Ben and Katie Kasper and Justine, Herman and Robert Rinne; sisters, Helen (Jim) Bogan, Evelyn (John) Yule, Elaine (Greg) Bellows, and Arlene Malvitz; brother in law, Gayland (Joann) Rinne; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father L. Timothy McCarthy, her parents Earl and Letitia Malvitz and sister Marian Malvitz.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Monday, July 21, 2008 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Irish Hills with Pastor Kelly Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be 2 - 5 P. M. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh and one hour prior to the Service at the church on Monday. .

David Taylor

David Taylor, 50, of Howell, died, July 18, 2008. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Jean Louise (Hoelscher) Henning

Age 80, of Tecumseh, MI, suddenly crossed the Jordan on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Toledo Hospital.

Jean was born October 8, 1927 in New Knoxville, OH to Julius Lewis and Adella (Wilhelmina Opperman) Hoelscher.

On June 23, 1951 she married Paul Frederick Henning in Columbus, OH and they just celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Jean was a devoted Wife, Mother, Granny, Nurse, and Friend, and shall be greatly missed by all.

Jean was a 1945 graduate of Findlay High School, and received a BSN from Ohio State University in 1949 and retired from nursing in 1992.

She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh, involved with the Little Garden Club of Tecumseh, Wit and Wisdom, Church Women United, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Tecumseh Center for the Arts, MSU Hidden Lake Gardens, and national relief organizations. Jean is survived by her husband, Paul F., children, David (Raquel) of Oscoda, MI; Barbara (Paul A.) Toman of Lansing, MI; Carol (William) Rowley of Clayton, MI; grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth and Jacob Toman, Stephan and Sonya Henning; brothers, Rollin (Joan) Hoelscher of Germantown TN; Wallace (Jvanne) Hoelscher of Oak Park Heights, MN and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 P. M. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. A memorial Service will be 11 am Friday, July 25, 2008. at the church. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can made to the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh (www.tecpres.org). .

Gary Hamden, 67, of Adrian, died July 20, 2008. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

John Kaminski

John Kaminski, 56, of Redford, died, July 21, 2008. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

JAMES A. CROSS

Age 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the Stein Hospice Service in Sandusky, Ohio. James was born October 20, 1930 in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, MI, to Floyd & Clarissa (Panck) Cross and was raised in the Britton, Michigan area. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim was an enlisted veteran who after his time of service spent most of his working life dedicated to serving in the propane industry in many different capacities. He spent many of his propane years as a Division Manager for Northern Propane Gas (Norgas). While located in Durand, MI, Jim was an active member of the Durand Masonic Temple and also a 32nd degree Shrine member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Fire Brigade unit. Jim was a long time member of the Durand First Congregational Church and also a member of the Father's Heart Family Church in Sandusky, OH.

Survivors include: daughters, Janet (Francisco) Guevara of Sandusky, Ohio and Vickie (Jim) Murphy of Byron, MI, sons, James (Ellen) Cross Jr. of Byron, MI and Greg (Kim) Cross of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Leah, daughter Sandy, grandson Jessie Murphy, sisters, Christine Sparks, Mary Bogedain, and brother, Robert Cross.

The funeral service will be held at J. GIlbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie, Tecumseh, MI on Wednesday, January 28, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tony Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside cemetery in Tecumseh, MI with military honors conducted by the Michigan Army National Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan 28, from 10 am till time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and Stein Hospice Service.

Dorothy Eva Sinclair

Age 76, of Blissfield, MI, left this earth on Sunday, January 25, 2009, to join our heavenly Father awaiting her on the brightest star in the heavens. After fighting a long painful battle, she was released from her suffering at long last. As the star shone above giving a sign that she would now be free, her eternally loving husband of 61 years held her close as she slipped gracefully, painlessly and quietly away. Dorothy was born to Oscar K. Miller & Mary (Conrad) Miller on November 6, 1932, and married "Jack" on October 20, 1947.

She is survived by her loving husband, her mother, Mary Miller, five children, Larry Sinclair, Connie (Carl) Bahls, Dottie (Joe) Nix, Dwight (Rosemary) Sinclair and Brock (Erin) Sinclair, over 70 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, her brother Melvin (Melanie) Miller, sisters, Karen Salsbury and Patsy (Larry) Drukenmiller.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Miller, brother, Robert Miller, sister, Alva Brenke, grandchildren, Robert Sinclair, Diane (Sinclair) Vauw, Ianna Sinclair, daughter in law, Ruth Sinclair, great grandchildren, Ashley Vauw, and Larry James Vauw.

Dorothy will always be remembered for her deep love and devotion for her husband and family, kind heart, her strong faith, her baked goods for any function, and her love for helping others. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield, the Boy Scouts of America, the church choir, 4-H Bingo, and meals on wheels. She took great pride in her collection of porcelain dolls and her involvement of the Friendly Home Toy parties.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield with Rev. Michael Mayo-Moyle officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View cemetery. Arrangements are with J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian.

Theresa Carmona

Age 67, of Carleton, MI, passed away, January 29, 2009, at home. Her family has arranged an immediate cremation. May God rest her soul.

Viola Marie Burger

Age 83, of Brooklyn, passed away January 29, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends.

Viola was born January 19, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. On August 24, 1943 she married Clarence Burger and they celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage.

She and her husband Clarence, for 20 years were the owners of the DoNoHop donut shop on U. S. 12. She was a loving, caring, giving person who was also a devoted Christian. Viola was an active member of St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church, an avid doll collector and collector of all Pillsbury Doughboy memorabilia.

Besides her husband Clarence, she is survived by her children, Diana (Donald) Tyler and Thomas Burger; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and a son, Theodore.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church, Irish Hills with Fr. Carl Simon officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Shrine cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. family may be made on line at
