Age 51, passed away, February 15, 2009, at William Beaumont Hospital.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral home, Adrian, MI. May God rest his soul.

Maria "Mary Lou" Jeremy

Age 65, passed away February 16, 2009, at Allegiance Health. She was born August 25, 1943, in Monterrey, Mexico, the daughter of Lupe & Hermalinda (Aguilar) Ocanas.

Mary Lou is survived by her children; Michelle, Tina, Maria "Babe", Christine, her beloved 17 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Jeremy in 2007.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Burial will follow in Ft. Custer National cemetery.

Forrest "Bud" Porterfield

Age 76, of Clinton, passed away February 17, 2009. Bud was born September 20, 1932 in Carsonville, MI the son of Harry and Cora (Bachman) Porterfield.

On June 26, 1955 he married Nancy Hedlesky in Ypsilanti, MI. Bud retired from Ford Motor Co after 30 years of service.

After retirement, he was a bus driver for the Clinton Community Schools.

Bud loved the game of baseball and was a little league coach for many years in Clinton.

He was a devoted New York Yankee fan and an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors.

Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. To them, he was their hero.

Besides his wife, Nancy, Bud is survived by his children, Kim Sines, Randy (Jana) Porterfield, Brian Porterfield, Dale (Julie) Porterfield and David Porterfield; grandchildren, Brad, Danielle, Kelsey, Kristen, Forrest, Megan, and Zach; great grandchildren, Zoe and Emma; siblings, Alice, Kay, Dale and Roger; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce.

At his request, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A. M. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Clinton Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Riddle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Mildred Campbell Branch

Age 83, passed away, February 19, 2009, at home. Funeral Services, 5:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Royal Oak Church of God of Prophecy, 600 N. Campbell, Royal Oak, MI. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Cremation will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.

Roland Lee Brown

Age 74, of Lansing, MI, passed away, February 19, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI. He was born August 18, 1934, in Lansing, MI, the son of Rollin & Flossie (Campbell) Brown. Roland served his country in the U.S. Army. His family has made arrangements for an immediate cremation. May God rest his soul.

Annabelle Brelish

Age 77, of Clinton, passed away February 19. 2009 at University Hospitals, Ann Arbor.

Annabelle was born June 20, 1931 in Dalton, PA, the daughter of George and Bridget (Gallagher) Potter.

On June 18, 1949, she married John Brelish in Olyphant, PA.

He preceded her in death February 3, 2005. She was retired from DST Industries, Clinton, MI.

Annabelle was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Clinton, MI and the Red Hat Society of Manchester, MI.

She also took part in helping to serve lunches at the Senior Center of Manchester.

Annabelle is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Lentz of Clinton, Sharon (John) Quigley of DeTour Village, MI and Donna (Edward) Braun of Manchester; 5 grandchildren, Tony (Natalie) Lewis of Adrian, Marcie (Roy) Dechert of Clinton, Jared Davis of Tecumseh, Kyle Lentz of Clinton and Jonathan Braun of Manchester; 2 great grandsons, Alex and Blake Dechert of Clinton; two sisters, Vera Russin and Ethel Potter, both of Scranton, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece Ann Marie Borowski and her family of Taylor, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Clinton, MI with the Rev. Fr. Paul Ruddy officiating.

Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.

Following the interment, a luncheon will be held at St. Dominic Parish Hall, Clinton.

Visitation will take place from 4 -7 PM Saturday and from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

A memorial service will also take place 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions my be made to Senior Center of Manchester and St. Dominic Women's group.

Herbert F. Friedman

Age 67, passed away, February 20, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born April 15, 1941, in New York. Herbert was a retired Veterinarian. Arrangements for an immediate cremation have been made. May God rest his soul.

Larry L. Kohl

Age 69, of New York City, passed away, December 18, 2008. The family has made arragements for an immediate cremation. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

John Martinus

Age 90, of Adrian, passed away, December 24, 2008, at Provincial House. He was born December 28, 1917 in Bannister, MI, the son of Joseph and Filomena (Bankowski) Martinus. On July 24, 1943, he married Velma G. Piotter in North Blissfield Lutheran Church, she survives. He was a lifelong resident of Deerfield and Adrian and a member of Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church in Adrian. John began working at Gerity's in Adrian at the age of seventeen. After many years of management including Stubnitz Greene, Hoover Ball Bearing, and Johnson Controls, he retired in 1983. He was an avid bowler and fisherman in his early years and enthusiastic golfer after his retirement. John enjoyed his family and friends and euchre games he had with them. In addition to his wife Velma, he is survived by three children, Dennis and Nina Martinus of Tecumseh, Nancy Hebb of Adrian and Peggy Martinus and Kate Carter of St. Petersburg, FL five grandchildren, Craig and Shannon Martinus, Rick Martinus and Ryan and Jessica Martinus, Shelly Walters and Nicole and Sean Stephenson, five great grandchildren, Zachary and Jessie Arnold, Shiann Martinus and Wyatt and Eli Martinus, and brother in law, Milbert "Poke" Willnow. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank, and four sisters; Vera Borsek, Martha Saffell, Mary Willnow and Stella Brygger. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church in Adrian with Pastor Martin Zimmann officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, and also on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Mary A. Porter

Age 59, passed away, December 24, 2008, at her home in Tecumseh, MI. She was born on October 5, 1949, in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Robert E. and Shirley C. Dieter. She married John F. Porter on December 18, 1972. She is survived by her husband, two daughters: Nicole M. Porter and Jennifer R. Porter; her mother; one sister, RuthAnn (Doug) Ruffing; two brothers: Robert E. Dieter, II and William (Sue) Dieter; and nine nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Britt Wann

Age 71, of Tecumseh, passed away on Christmas Day, 2008. Britt was born December 17, 1937 in Bergen, Norway the daughter of Odd and Inger Bostrom. She married Dean Wann in Midland, Michigan on October 2, 1965. Britt was a people person, she owned and operated The Tog Shop in Tecumseh for 17 years. She was a cut-throat bridge player, a masterful knitter and loved to travel. Britt was also a member of the Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church and a faithful volunteer for the Herrick Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop.

Besides her husband, Dean, Britt is survived by her daughters, Ann (Robert Stross) Wann of Madison, WI and Karen (Steve) Westcott of Chicago, IL; grandchild, James Stross; brother, Odd Erik (Reidun) Bostrom and their son Jonas of Bergen, Norway.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Britt was a beautiful woman who was devoted to her family. She was incredibly generous, had an infectious laugh and always had an opinion.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Tecumseh with Rev. Richard Mortimer officiating. Visitation will be 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 P. M. Friday, January 9, 2009 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh. family may be made on line at

Dorothy V. Payne

Dorothy V. Payne, 94, of DeWitt, MI, passed away, December 25, 2008 at Prestige Pines. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements by J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI.

Doris Susan Skinner

Age 87, formerly of Tecumseh, passed away December 27, 2008 at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. She was born to Frank Miller and Anna Mae Case in Bridgewater, Michigan. She married Eugene Skinner in Tecumseh, he preceded her in death in 1981. She is survived by daughters, Dianna (Virgil) Smith Of Brooklyn, Donna McCarley of Manitou Beach and son Douglas (Louise) Skinner Of Ambridge Pa. Grandchildren Tina Walker, Heidi (Mike) Trouten, Trisha Dart, Samantha McCarley, Tracy McCarley, Sean Skinner, Katie Skinner. Great Grandchildren Anthony Sturtevant, Amber Clymer, Amanda Trouten, Nicole, Sky, & Hunter Dart, Dakota, Cannon, & Daisha Mattson and Alexis and Alisha McCarley. Proceeded in death by parents, and Sister Dorothy Horn. At her request, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held On Saturday January 3rd at 1:00 at J Gilbert Purse Funeral Home – Tecumseh, with visitation at 11:00 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Jackson & Oakland

Karen Kay (Chandler) Miners

Age 61, of Clermont, FL passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 with her family at her side.

She was born in Toledo, OH on May 3, 1947 to George and Florence Chandler.

Karen is a graduate of Whitmer High School class of 1965.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Darcy (Keni) Wigfall, of Clermont, FL, Michael (Michelle) Miners, of Westville, IN, Dawn Campbell, of Richardson, TX, Stepson Todd (Vicki) Miners, of Toledo, OH.

Brothers, Donald (Syble) Chandler, of Toledo, OH and George (Emmy) Chandler, of Lakeland, FL.

She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.Karen is preceded in death by her husband Terry Miners, her parents and brother Carroll Chandler.Family and friends may visit at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Lenawee Hills Memorial in Adrian, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used according to their wishes or to the Liver Foundation.
